The European metal scene is such a goldmine of talent, and you're absolutely right about Hansi being so unassuming.
Fun Fact: This song is originally a Duett recorded in 1989.. Hansi sings it with guest singer Kai Hansen from Gamma Ray/ Helloween. Kai is a major player in german metal music, he has his his hands in almost every metal production in Germany if not Europe. Kai has a very distinct voice so when Blind Guardian performed this song live (and obviously it is a crowd pleaser and a fan favourite) he had to come up with a way to sing with himself a duett.

BG albums usually are concept albums around fantasy a lot, even tolkiens silmarillion (lord of the rings author) was part of an album. Songs are epic studio versions usually use choirs in choruses and it is bombastic in terms of production.

I am a fan of J.R.R Tolkien and his Lord of the Rings Books and have never been a fan of metal music until I read somewhere that Blind Guardian made a concept album inspired by Tolkiens book "The Silmarillion". I had to buy this album because I found it very interesting how a fantasy book inspires a metal band to make an album. Since then I am listening to metal music and became a fan of Blind Guardian, Eluveitie, Jinjer, Sabaton, Ayreon and of course Nightwish. I like Epica, Kamelot, Within Temptation and metal music in general and all because Blind Guardian made this one album.
