    Awesome video David...It's good to see Dad's doing things with their kids...better when the whole family is involved. This is truly a piece of Canadiana...and a nice break from all the political, tyrannical rhetoric around us.

    Lol awesome! Time spent with the family is sacred…I took my boy out yesterday to do some ice fishing…it was nicer out yesterday…the last 10 days have been deep freeze temps…then again today it’s hit the deep freeze temps for another 10 days. I took advantage of the weather as you guys did. And the same result…perch after perch after perch. Lol nothing touched the tip up all day. But the good news is I put up my pop up tent and fished in + 20° temps. Lol so much better than out in the wind. Lol
    Just a bit of time to set it up and take it down after. Well worth the extra time invested 👍🏻

    When I lived in northern NY and ice fished on Lake Ontario, we used a "perch eye picker" to pop out the eye balls and use for bait.
    We caught many nice sized perch with perch eyes.

    I like this video and so I'll watch it again ...
    The children only need to know it's fun to laugh at their dad for his overwhelming joy that he got a really small fish .. LoL not that it's a bad thing when the fish aren't really big and few are being hooked ... Man I don't fish on the ice but through the ice if it's possible lol again I'll say that's a very very big rock and I've never really seen anyone do that to icefish ...

      Sure. If the fish you are trying to catch haven't been scared all the way to the Gaspe. Do that to a pond or small lake and the thunder will spook everything for up to 4-6 hours. Leaves time for 'bowling with children.' Snow angels and the like.
      Nice family. All the best for your channel.

    • @bjs301
      @bjs301 2 роки тому +2

      @@philipkeeler9997 The axe scares away the fish. Or the augur. Or whatever you use. Fish have very little short term memory, and they always come back pretty quickly. If you get no bites in four hours, you probably should have moved to a new spot three hours ago.

    Just wanted to update this review. Year 4, with a bit of sharpening I'm still thrilled with this Auger! This is an excellent Auger. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxe0I-fnTUByahTCyStrIBXsesSkQJKn8n It splits to 1/2 size for storage in the warm months and easily assembles for winter use. I can cut holes in less than a minute by and really don't feel the need to ever adapt this to use with a drill. It cuts easily with the included blades (which can be sharpened or replaced as needed) and has held up extremely well through last season, and now for the first cuts of this season. I do recommend this to anyone who asks, and personally prefer this over powered augers. These are quiet, still quite fast, lighter, and don't risk spilling chemicals into our waterways. I plan to do a lot of fishing this year through the ice, thanks to this trusty Auger. The 8" diameter is great for fishing pike through the ice as well.
