Eliot's looking fly with the big beard and big hair. Actually: everyone's looking fly! GG's
The audio sounded muffled and hollow. I'm sure you will find the right balance . I believe in you
Game was super great :D
It warms my heart to watch you guys back at it again! This game in particular really made me think about season 2/3 vibes! Keep up the great work spikes!
Good Game, i could understand everyone a bit more clearly, but there was an unusual amount of noise during the silent moments.
Great game indeed! Audio was definitely a bit muffled. Lav mics can be tricky to get right. I’d say experiment with different placements and EQ in post to eliminate hiss and “woofy” mids.
The acoustics in the room also seem pretty bad. I believe that fixing that should be fairly cheap and would do a lot of work as well.
This one was just because we padded a little too much during recording. Next recording session should be much better!
SPOILER: Winota continues to prove herself as a powerful deck! Three UR "storm" type decks against the hatebears looked rough!
I just love the variety Winota brings to cEDH tables. Great beats with combo backup lines, offers a different pace that most other cEDH tables bring. Also, i love the post game conversations talking about pivotal moments of the game. Super helpful and insightful to look at the decision making process in game.
So nice of Jan to come watch you guys play magic
It's so clear they're friends having fun and I love it.
I lost track of Jan's board after about 11mins in 😂
This was good fun to watch lots of cool and funny bits but the dark ritual moment was sweet
The audio does sound a bit funky
I think EQ is what you need to look into and play with
looking forward to hearing you guys clearer once you've done more getting used to the new equipment
And I'm Here Too 😂😂
Audio sounded a bit hollow and static-y but great game. I was hoping Jim's Ad Naus would resolve. Love seeing the flips.
followed purely for the channel name as its one of my favorite pet cards
"It is a trigger, Jan is a judge" is my favorite easter egg in a while. Please tell me which of you witty and funny individuals made my day with this little gem.
You can thank Alex for that one!
@@TheSpikeFeeders Thanks! Alex, this is my proud face.
Sneakily I think you could have also played Dark Ritual just to make it look like you were playing it to get more mana for the wheel and then drop the mystical tutor and see if it resolves. Dark ritual without Ad Naus seems better than Ad Naus without Dark ritual. :/
I’m late on this video but love your channel!! New to magic (LOTR fan got pulled in from that) have really been enjoying the format and explanation you have. Was curious are you doing proxies for the decks and high value cards? What is the best way to collect these higher value cards?
Jim went out like a mad lad
Winota is fun to build around I made once
That was a wild game. 🔥
Aesthetically I love that everybody has the same playmat. Lol
So much more room for activities
I don't like the audio but I did like the episode!
Here's a question: do you cast the dark ritual first? I don't think this situation would ever come up again, but the dark ritual is way less threatening if you can play it off as getting a card out of your hand.
I think based on the mana I had available (4 treasures, 3 after the dark ritual) they'd probably just assume I have the ad naus in hand.
@@TheSpikeFeeders I think you're right! And I loved the play! But maybe a tiny bit of a better chance?
Edit: I was really hoping a for a naus in response to a wheel!
Edit #2: I just re-read, they likely would have assumed you had it in hand 😂
Great video! Just want to point out there seems to be a small editing hiccup at 19:53 if that's something you're concerned about
Yeah we didn't leave space for a clean cut but needed to cut. I picked the least disruptive point I could find
am also an elliot aquarius... would be crazy if same birthday! :O good video per usual
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm preeetty sure you could have cast the Ad Naus by cracking the LED to pay for it (so way earlier and without the use of dark rituals or treasures). You are allowed to put a spell on the stack and then activate mana abilities to pay for it IIRC
Nvm, just reread the card, I knew this worked for lotus petal, but I see LED has a clause added. Going to leave this here for educational purposes
@@ChristopherZAR Leaving this for posterity - Yes it would have worked. Spellcasting in MtG is done in the following manner: You put the spell you want to cast on the stack, choose all targets and modes, then the game checks if the spell is legal to be on the stack. Once the game has determined that the spell is allowed on the stack, you then proceed to pay for the spell, in this case sacrificing LED and discarding your hand to pay for Ad Naus. Ad Naus will NOT be discarded in this way, it is already on the stack. Once the spell has been paid for, you will then either hold or pass priority until all players have passed priority with Ad Naus on top of the stack. Ad Naus will then resolve (unless it has been countered, or in case of targeted spells all legal targets have been removed in which case the spell will fizzle regardless of any non-targeted effects)
I'm playing veyran and I was wondering if there is an updated deck list for that deck that's budget friendly available?
I wonder what cEDH deck Bob LaPage runs these days? He was THE premiere Flash Hulk player, but haven’t seen much from him lately.
Whats up with the 6 color cardback o.O
Sounds not to bad a bit of static in the background but not the worst I have ever heard
What a good game.
My plateau is altered by Clover Alters, RIP. Once again Maddy is very alive and well 😂
Love some winota
The audio had a constant static that was pretty unpleasant, but the content of the video was quality as always
Microphone makes everyone sound like they are chewing on sweets
What is that pentagonal box behind Jim?
WotC sent us a very cool influencer box! Inside there was an Ajani t shirt, and the Magali Villeneuve forest LED light box that's on the bar next to it. It also had a few collector and jumpstart boosters, a preconstructed Commander deck, and a box of set boosters!
@@TheSpikeFeeders Nice swag!
I have been looking for that playmat. Does it have a name?
This was our limited run War of the Spike playmat we did for a Kickstarter a couple years back. We occasionally giveaway the extremely limited extras we have as fundraiser prizes but I am currently unsure if we have any left. -Alex
Winota a monster deck for sure.
Would face breaker create 2 treasures? I thought it’s just 1 not each creature
It can create up to 1 treasure for each player that takes damage.
@@TheSpikeFeeders you just changed my isshin deck. lol I was told otherwise!
Needed more Momir Vig.
Maybe I should dig that up again
Spoiler: Jim starts AGAIN.
Love the game, didn't love the audio fwiw
Is it just me or is there a weird crackling sound in the background it’s not terribly loud
Yep, still getting the new mics tuned in. It'll affect this ep and next ep, bit after that we should have it sorted!
I SEE WINOTA I CLICK
I have both a Pako and a Winota deck, but I haven't been able to play Winota yet (latest new brew). It's not as mean as Eliot's, but I expect great things from it!
Pako is straight up brutal, I try not to put unblockable or trample effects in it because Pako gets BIG really FAST and it'd be a massacre!
As a heads-up it's pronounced "Furry", not "fury"
Winota was still a mistake.
I never ever want to play cedh.
Spoiler warning.
Crackling audio.
The audio sucks... You're welcome. Love your guys games and videos
Too much card snapping
Pronouns are all well and good but I find it curious that they are on the screen next to names and not the name of each players commander, which would make the board much easier to parse for this new viewer
Currently working on an overhaul of our name tags. I don't know when it will be ready, but sometime within the next couple months.
Can we start getting a content warning for Winota please? If we are getting content warning for consult wins then the least we can do is have a Winota warning. Nothing is worse than the same Winota lines where she flips into something back breaking turn after turn and no one can answer it.
