broke my steering box mounts off the frame on my 75 blazer on the cliff but instead of ratchet straps i used my winch to strap the box down against the frame with three wraps, tightened it up and and drove all the way to the asphalt lol...cold beer at Natches....
Hey man myself and the Salem Jeepers are coming up in September OFF AXIs Builds will out there. Are you from Washington? wondering if you would like to join us. We can do a youtube collaboration if your up for that.
TRE locker from Luso. I've had one for two years and wheel the crap out of my stuff. Zero issues. The pump that comes with it can power two lockers but I went with a front torsion LSD with up to 80% lockup. Nice build so far! Will need some real skid plates.
Limited slip is mostly for pavement or level road use works best in snow icy and or light mud conditions it will never do what you were thinking it should do, good video though I wished we could've seen more on the steering box trail repairs as they were happening peace out
Man I need more! Longer videos please! I’m in Walla Walla. Found you a few weeks ago. I’m a wheeling addict but can’t go anymore (nobody to go with and no 4x4). Soo this is all I have. Ya gotta give me longer videos! Lol naw you’re fine. Great coverage.
OnX needs to work with someone to get Canada added. That is the main reason I haven't taken it up. I do go to the states but rarely drive the Jeep that far for trails.
Great video! About to start a similar project. I take it that is the factory rear hybrid LSD on there? Just not getting it done or something wrong with it? Debating the front locker/rear lsd set-up vs open front/rear lock.
Thanks, yup hybrid lsd. It worked okay. Once I changed the fluid and drove it a while it got better, but still not the same as a real locker. I believe the 03 and newer did not have a lsd but traction control which i hear is pretty good.
Kelly how long before you just break down and put an ARB in it? and BTW i just got home from spending a week up there and doing over 300 trail miles. this is my favorite area wheeling
Yea man it’s beautiful up there. I will eventually be putting full selectable lockers front and rear for sure. Hopefully get the rear lsd to work and put a selectable up front at first.
Not sure yet. This setup will do anything I want once I get a winch, rock sliders, skids, lockers, ect. I don’t think I will need 35’s. I think the mpg is around 14, so not good🤣
I’m cutting out some pretty cool trails on my property right now! I’ve got some videos on my channel showing all the granite rock features. Some of it is too steep but I think it will be cool. If you guys ever want to road trip by north Idaho? Look me up! Cool channel! Thanks!
Anyone make a rear lunchbox locker for the montero? That thing would work awesome if you could get one. Also wonder how hard it would be to 8.8 swap it.
@@MuddyBeards4X4 yeah thats not too bad. Cool little rig though. My dad had a 96 montero brand new and I loved that thing. He use to tow our pontoon boat to the lake with it. We'd go out mudding in fields and stuff. I've got a soft spot for them things and always wanted to build and overlander one.

did the same thing on the Natches in my 73 blazer...30yrs ago lol...
Always a great trip buddy 👊 I love this Montero!

Love to see talk wheeling where people get stuck and have help from their friends. Thanks for taking us along.
👍🏻
Please upload more of Gen 3 Monteros upgrades and Trips I owned a gen 2 and gen 3 and want to explore more like yours..
Looking forward to see where you take this build. Love your Videos, keep up the good work. Tell the guys I said Hello as well. Great group of friends.
Thanks👊🏻

Yup, lots of stuff to do still
@@MuddyBeards4X4 it's a sweet build. Very capable now but with a few items it will be a great all around off roader! We are excited for the build.
For sure, thanks👊🏻

@@MuddyBeards4X4 You're welcome! LOL. (whispering....longer videos pleaseeeee lol)
Enjoying the build series and added another trail to the list want to drive.
Thanks👊🏻
ive been riding dirtbikes up there since 1989....that trail is the roughest, hardest one ive been on...#676
Looks like a pre-run for a snow-run to me. PNW best runs are in the snow!
Almost forgot. Rock sliders and trim the mud flaps a little.
Wow that little rig did great. Well done!
Yes it did, thanks 🤟🏻
Being a plumber that uses all thread a lot, I should definitely have some in my rig for repairs!
Yup, we all are carrying all thread with some bolts and washers now👍🏻
A lot yet to learn!
Love seeing Montero content, keep up the good work. Looks like some underbody body protection is on the list soon?
Thanks, and yes, it will need some skid plates for sure.
Some sliders and rear locker should be a near future upgrade.Looks fun pushing the limits though.
For sure, only had it a month. Still lots of work to do.

P.S. my folks like in Chelan and didn't know of this trail...hmm
Looks like fun, that S-10 looks pretty Rad. How come Freiburger didn't bring his new overland Jeep?
🤣

At 6:35 in the video, looks like your center differential isn't locked. Doesn't seem to be putting power to the front wheels. Did you have it in 4LLC?
I'm really diggin that S10. Is there a build video on it?
There is this one from about 3 years ago. I should do a full video on it.

Hate it when the low talent light comes on 😂
🤣 me too
been awaiting your buddies s10 to be done. could you please do an in depth bio on it please? thanks man
Yup 👍🏻
Awesome video bro 👌
Thanks👊🏻
damn, I wish you got 2nd gen Montero. there isn't enough content for them. but this should be good build.
Best fluid I found for the torsen type is Castrol Syntax Limited Slip 75/90
Anything going on with the Montero build?
Sold it to built the S10 I have been building for the last 6 months.
For some reason I can't find moon rocks on OnX. Might be because I'm on the free version?
Nope, they are not on there. I have a bunch of waypoints I will be sending them to add for the naches area. So they should be up there soon.
man that montero did pretty good. do you think you'll go to 35's? and maybe a 2.5 lift?.... how was your MPG's on montero..
Not sure yet. This setup will do anything I want once I get a winch, rock sliders, skids, lockers, ect. I don’t think I will need 35’s. I think the mpg is around 14, so not good🤣
Yay!!
The drive is 4L or 4LL (locked)?
use brake pedal modulation with the montero
Was doing that.. it kinda helped but not enough

Thanks man, sounds awesome, Idaho isn’t too far away, lol.

It is IRS so no axle swap. Also they have selectable lockers for them, air and electronic
@@MuddyBeards4X4 so nothing cheap then lol.
Haha, true. The selectable is like $800, so not too bad….

The Naches Trail and Manashtash are NOT the same trail.
