Masterbaits - the baits of angler's fantasies. ' Great video mate. Love all the lures you presented. The old wooden Boomerang and the Rellik Doc were 2 of my favourite Australian lures. I was looking today at an old Possum brand swimbait I have still in its package, which I got back in about 1996 thinking to myself how funny it is that it has taken so long for them to catch on in popularity although they were even they were even being made here 20 years ago.
Thanks Andrew, that old possum lure might be worth something now. I never used the Rellik Doc lures but DID trull with the original boomerang. They were a fantastic lure back in the day. I think you can still get the Predateck Boomerang.

Like any good fisherman you have a nice collection of baits Robbie! Although we don't have Murray Cod around here i can appreciate your explanation of how each bait works. I love to catfish and mostly use live bait.
Thanks Robert. I would love to catch the big catfish you guys have over there. I have seen people noodling for them, I am not sure that I am interested in that, but catching them on a rod with bait looks like a lot of fun.
Back in the 50's here they had some crazy contraptions that were highly effective for Cod, these big metre long wire tracers with a giant hook and arrow shaped bits of metal designed to spin and flash, they worked so good we nearly made Cod extinct in SA and were flat out banned, it's insane how far we've come. Pretty sure those lures with a little propeller are called "Fizzers".
Thanks buddy, definitely a fizzer of some kind. I wonder if it could be called a wake fizzer? LOL We certainly have comer a long way mate. Before those lures were the old aeroplane spinners. Absolute line kinkers that caught heaps of big cod.
Great video mate. I will definitely try to buy some of those smaller lures as I have been chasing a Murray cod for years now but I have had no luck😩😩😩. I really want to come fishing with you as you seem to know how to catch them.🐟🐟🐟 Have you ever tried a 12.5cm 3D scanned duckling lure for Murray cod yet??? I have one but haven’t tried it yet. Thanks for the tips, you really need to come up to Queensland. Tight Lines Mate
Hey Robbie love the video mate love how you take the time to explain things to the views, but in your recent video where people were wondering why you weren’t uploading so much,I’m a patient person honestly I’d love to see you take some time off and do a few fishing trips where ever they maybe and then make them in to one great video full of tips and fishing as you already do 🤝🤝
Hi mate thank you so much for your very kind words. I LOVE making videos. I am currently on 2 weeks annual leave which is why I am able to make more videos at the moment. From next week onwards they will definitely slow down. I went bushwalking last week, so filmed it and uploaded the video to another channel I run. It's a small channel that I created called RObbies Camera Dump, specifically so that I can continue to film and upload videos when I can not get out fishing. LOL
robbiefishing your a legend mate honestly I’m gonna have to check the channel out LoL keen to see More great videos from you! You seem like such a genuine all round bloke mate love the content take it easy🤝
Bloody hell it all gets a bit mind boggling, compared to when we first started, yep the old green floppy and the yellow floppy worked well and the mud bugs, pretty sure they tried to imitate a yabbie. the big flatfish were like towing a cow. I still have original floppy and mud bug in its box and price was $4.99. LOL. The swim baits and glide baits are getting popular for the big flathead . Good explanation just need to motgage the house to by few of them, but thats fishin cheers Mate not long to go till the weather warms up
haha you're not wrong mate they're bloody expensive. I trhink a real mudbug is like the American version of a yabby. Either way, I remember trolling with them down at Samspons on the Ovens many years ago with my old man, back when you could get in there.
Great vid mate 👍.. Really like the old mate lures and spinners.... Although your lure with the propeller looks interesting, buzz jet I think you said, may need to go give it a crack 👏👏
Thanks Dave. If you look back through my videos from last summer you will see that Buz jet feature quite a lot. The Murray cod loved it. It's a strange lure, but the cod love it.
That’s a lot of lures and I’m now confused from what I’ve watched on a lot of other fishing videos there’s a lot of master baits being used have to get my hands on some of them hahaha
Good run down for those un clear 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 I would say that swim baits and glide baits are fast becoming the go to cod lures, even in the smaller waters. (Just not land based in winter 😂🤣) A close call saying hard bodies and spinnerbaits make up the bulk lol Great video though, if I was new to fishing I think you just cost me a months pay, covered the lot 👍🏼 lol
What’s a good lure if I travel to Melbourne from WA for a day but want to catch my dream fish inland of Melbourne around the Yarrawonga area?? I’m coming there in September
Hey Lochie thanks for the heads up buddy. Someone else just mentioned that too. I have heard that term used before. Have you ever used one? They look insane in the water!
I'm amazed how many people picked up on that throwaway comment. Just shows how many w*****s watch this channel ....... Not you though mate (and clearly I have to include myself!)
hahaha WIll, what a great idea. Not sure when I will get the time though mate. Pretty strange hey. LOL I dare say someone has ilegally shot it up north and skun it, then decided to dispose of it at the last minute and throw it into the river. That would be my guess.
I left that out. You know why? When I was gathering the lures to take I could not find one in my shed. haha I do have a few in there somewhere but was running out of time so went without one. LOL
Thanks buddy. I deliberately left them out. I have an older video about those types of lures. Also, the video was getting long enough as it was. I left chatterbaits out as well....only because I couldn't find one in my shed to take as a demo. hahaha
@@LochieCondon Hey buddy that is super kind of you but please keep them for yourself. The problem is that I may never use them. If I wanted to try one or review one I could borrow one off a friend. Thank you so much anyway, but I just think that they will get more usr in your hands.
