    Finally a lambda sensor video, can’t believe no one has ever made a video before, thank you so much!!!
    Quick question, would it be the same (0.90-1.0) for an IAME Super Shifter 175cc? If it works on a Super Shifter I’m buying a lambda sensor right away.

      Yes it will, most engines will perform best between 0.90 -1.00. there are exceptions but for the unfamiliar stick with the above. Thanks for tuning in PCH

    Hey Des, what end of the .9 to 1 scale is lean and rich? So if we’re at .85 do go richer or leaner to get into the preferred range? Odd that there isn’t a single video on UA-cam on how to actually read the data and adjust it to get to the sweet spot….

    Hello! I have a problem with my rotax go kart, and everytime its idle it turns off :( do you now what could be wrong?

      No problems other than cleaning out the jets so it carbs easier. You could turn up the idle screw or adjust the throttle pedal to suit higher idle speed.

    Where would you Attach one to a rotax evo exhaust and when racing to msa standards are there any do’s and dont’s for the welds/ use ?

      Hi Chris, great question. Thanks heaps for tuning in and sharing the videos. You could weld it into the inside radius of the pipe, halfway from the header and the stinger outlet. We use MiG to weld ours but you bronze weld too.

      Hey Bill, most guys are using the new painted engines now. I drove some karts last week that had old and new engines and the lap times were all within a few tenths. If you are learning to drive use what you have or can afford. if you are racing for championships then get yo self the latest engines, they are the most consistently the best engines

    Que porcentaje de aceite por galón de combustible recomiendas usar para la mezcla de un motor iame x30.? Según el manual del motor recomienda 4%.

      Would you recommend the lambda sensor on a cadet kart running a Rok Mini. Someone told me to get the exhaust temp sensor. Thanks

      Thanks legend , yeah the lambda is better for learning how to set up the carb IMO. The EGT is allowed for competition but I find it a little vague for fine tuning the carb. get a LCU 1 kit and get the carb all set up (float level, air bleed, main jet, Needle clip ) in the combination that suits and then you can take it out for racing.

    Will the LCU-One lambda sensor work with the older MyChron 5 or will it only work with the newer MyChron 5S? Thanks

    Hi I started karting around 7 months ago. I have gone out around 10 times. And the race speed lap times are around 43.2 and I’m at 50.0 on adverage how much faster do you say I will have to if I wanted to get a mycrone?

      get one if you want it. otherwise get some more practise and coaching and use the Mychron money for some new tyres. that will get you going faster IMO

    Does that also work for shifters ? Asking cause they normally don't have a battery 🤔

      Yeah it would work excellent. But yeah you would need to add a battery

      As a side note I've ordered a 12v to 3v stepdown module off eBay, not an Alfano part, and will be adapting the Alfano to run off the X30 battery also.

    Hi Dez! What's the durability of this lambda sensor? I've been using the Mychron5 EGT sensor here and I find It to be so fragile... it's a decent tool, but I can't seem to find a way for it to be durable enough (6/8 sessions and it's usually gone). To be fair, we race the old Iame Suddan MY here in Brazil, which produces a lot of vibration :/

      Hey Germano, yeah they are fickle, so maybe just use them to tune the carby then take it off. the older same engines do vibrate a lot if they don't have a balance gear

    Hi. Awesome channel and great videos. I am looking for a full video how to rebuild a DD2 EVO engine. I know there is some tricks for better performance by rebuilding and still be ok for the RMC series. Do you have one already and I can’t find it or could make one. I was also looking on your webside and contacted you about a month ago.. i am sure there will be a lot of ppl out there interested for it then there is really nothing to find in the web other then the guide from rotax which is only general. thank you

    Hey. Im going to instal this lambda sensor om my 2021 tonykart with x30.
    The messurement off 115mm from the exhaust port is that best position for the sensor? I see that on unigo i say’s Mount the sensor min. 200 mm from the backside of the piston, in an angle of 30-45 degrees.? What to use?

      you can weld them in the body of the muffler in between the diverging and converging cones. otherwise in the header pipe is good too. 115mm is what we used to use on the older X30. the modern heated O2 sensor can be placed further away from the exhaust port.

      @@PowerRepublic i found that 290mm from piston is perfect position on the new 2021 exhaust is now one pice. Then the sensor don’t get in the way for nything, Do you think that this is a good position to use att 290mm from piston?
      And hope you will make a video on explaning when to use rear torsion bar or not ;)

    Hey mate, I was starting up my Rotax Max 125cc Junior for the first time in a while, and when it started up the engine started gaining revs, and then it wouldn't turn on, do you have any idea why this is

      It’s probably out of fuel. Check the fuel pump is pumping fuel to the carby and the carby isn’t blocked

      @@PowerRepublic Yeah we had more than enough fuel, so potentially we may have been running the wrong fuel or the carb has been blocked, thanks.

      I had this exact same issue, ended up being the throttle cable was not letting go completely because of a broken wire in the sleeve was digging into the liner on occasion.

    How long do you think the sensor will last considering it is a 2stroke?

      they are pretty heart considering the environment they live. you can get replacement sensors, or if you were really concerned, you could remove the sensor after you have tuned the carney to the engine.

      @@PowerRepublic thank you! i've always used wideband's in 4 stroke but never in 2s due to the mix. I think that, what you said, to remove it after tune, it is the best option for me.

    Gidday Derek, thanks for all your guidance, you've been so helpful. If I'm running at the same track all the time & have tuned my kart with a LCU One, do I need to re-tune and/or check the tune every time I race at the same track or once it's tuned, it's tuned? I get weather & track conditions would change from day to day but would they really change enough to have to change the tune, particularly when I'm really only a weekend warrior who won't ever be running at the elite level. I'm also running 3x karts so does that mean 3x LCU Ones or - in the same vein as my 1st q - once it's tuned it's tuned & I can just shift it from kart to kart to tune each one? Thanks again

    Can I use this on a rotax? My battery harness doesnt have the spades would this be a problem?

      No worries, there was a Rotax type battery mounted on this kart and as you can see, they have just added some terminal adapters.

      yeah that is correct, the little terminals just screw on. the LCU 1 kit will draw down your battery power, so make sure you bring a spare or battery charger

      you could raise the ride height of the stub axles. as long as that doesn't effect your lap times negatively then you are all good

    you'd think after all this time OTK would accommodate a mychron/Alfano unit onto their steering wheels without the need of an adaptor.

      I've just bought an Arrow X5, the wheel on that is supposed to support both Alfano (what I have) and Mychron. It hasn't arrived yet so I can't test that.

      yeah I reckon, you can make one pretty simply with a aluminium flat bar 30mm wide by 80mm long.

    Great video! New Go Kart Dad here in the US. Carb tuning is something I definitely want to learn; specifically the KA 100.
    Would you recommend that range .9 - 1 for the KA jr?
    Where in the track would you measure? Out of a corner and longest straight?
    Lastly, how much does AD affect carb tuning? I assume it’s a couple minutes one way or the other

      Hey Jake, cool name BTW, thanks for tuning in.
      yeah they can run as lean as 1.10 but best kept around 1.0
      in the .90's off the corners like a hairpin, then it should run leaner down the straight if possible.
      but with some practise and testing you will find what gives you guys best on track performance.

      that's in the LED menu. click through and can change them for the different sensors and sensor outputs. sorry for that, but she's pretty easy once you get in there. Hope that helps.

      The amount of Oxygen in the exhaust. From that you can then tell if the mix is lean or rich or just right !

      @@sathviksarathy4275 Not as accurately as O2. The O2 sensor measures the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas just after it leaves the cylinder head. Knowing how much O2 you can then extrapolate with accuracy the air to fuel mix. EGT measures exactly that, the Exhaust Gas Temperature, if everything is normal in the engine you can also extrapolate the air/fuel mix with less accuracy and if things are not normal there could be less correlation between the ETG readings and the air/fuel mix. An O2 sensor measures one of the 2 main concerns in determining the air/fuel mix, the oxygen in the air. An EGT measures the temperature of the result of combustion, which do you think is better for checking for checking air/fuel mix?
