    Your tutorial on texture was exceptional, and I am curious to learn about the difference between texture in Substance Painter and texture in Blender.

      Substance painter is built for texturing and great if you want to build textures to use in other software or for video games / VFX - if you are happy stying in blender for all you rendering you can create a similar level of detail using just the node system - working with the same mixing and layering logic of substance painter. If you want to get started with painter I have a series here. I'm making a bledner texturing one to come out soon as well!

    Could you maybe do also a tutorial for the preferences?
    I saw when you chose the add-ones that I have a lot disabled.
    So my question ist which one necessary?
    When I go on shading and push viewpoint shading I have only the outline of the garment it's not like in your video. How can I change that?

    Hi. When I’m setting up the UDIMs in the shader editor, there’s always one which doesn’t work. For example, if I start from the diffuse, the roughness and metallic textures work fine but once I add the normal map, it turns the whole thing pink. I’ve tried restarting the process a few times but it always happens. Do you have any idea what the issue could be?

    • @digitalfashionblender
      @digitalfashionblender  Рік тому +1

      If it turns pink it means blender can't find one of the files attached to your shader. It means the image texture is missing.
      Try exporting to a new folder and then reconnect everything from there. Check the node are set up as UDIMs and not single image.
      Make sure your using the latest version of blender and test in a new scene if needed.

    @11:00 when you start to work on the material properties, how do I have that same list of materials for a garment I exported from CLO in ALEMBIC (OGAWA) format that has an animation?

    • @digitalfashionblender
      @digitalfashionblender  Рік тому +2

      You can't you will have to work around it. Alembic isn't taking the material information.
      Your options are -
      Export a point2 or PC2 cache instead. You will get a cache file like the alembic and an OBJ file to import in blender. Add a mesh cache modifier, set it to PC2 and open the file that was exported from Clo.
      Option 2 - work with 1 material slot - this is possible and sometimes preferred. You would need to follow this substance painter workflow that works with just 1 material slot as opposed to the multiple materials from clo - ua-cam.com/video/XH7nk7VdE_s/v-deo.html
      Option 3 - export each material as its own alembic from Clo and combine then back in the same scene after. This is achieved by hiding the mesh in the viewport in Clo using shift + Q and export only the visible parts. This will mean you export each material as its own alembic
      Hope it helps

    maybe you can help me with something. I make a tshirt in clo3d. I then place logo/graphics on the front of the shirt and the rear neck of the shirt. I export as OBJ and load it into Blender. For some reason the logos show through the garment. Meaning the rear neck logo can be seen from the front of the shirt through the inside. - What way should I be exporting or handling the logos/graphics for proper exporting in order to prevent that happening in Blender?

    • @digitalfashionblender
      @digitalfashionblender  Рік тому +1

      If your export is "thick" you will need to either unwrap the internal pieces of the model or apply a different material to those faces without the logo but this can get complex. Go to edit mode. Hold you mouse over the inside faces press L on keyboard and select linked UVs from the little menu that appears on the bottom left. With the inside only selected you can assign a different material in the material properties or you could unwrap the UVs to a different tile where the logos are not placed.
      East method, If you export "thin" - then you should look at double sided materials in blender. See here -
      ua-cam.com/video/ZsXz1Vy3XwI/v-deo.html
      You can then add the thickness in blender using solidify modifier

    Thank you for sharing all these amazing informative professional tutorials! I’m learning a lot from you 🙏🏼! However, I have a question and hope you can share your professional opinions on this. I’ve seen quite a lot of digital fashion designers’ workflow would be using Clo + Substance Painter + Cinema4D so I am just wondering if you are using Blender only? And if so, what are the advantages in terms of using Blender instead of C4D in your opinions? (apart from its free of course) and if you also use C4D, will you be teaching on that too? Thank you.

    • @digitalfashionblender
      @digitalfashionblender  Рік тому +1

      I work with Clo, Substance, Blender and Unreal. I don'tuse C4D so wont't be teaching that. I like blender because I can do everything in one place. There is modelling, sculpting, texturing, cloth simulation, compositing and video editing all built into Blender. The community around blender and learning is also something I really like.
      For me Blender is great but Unreal 5 is where there is some amazing potential. C4D just seems expensive compared to both these that are free to use. It really depends on what you are wanting to focus on but for Digital Fashion it's great to have knowledge of Clo, Subtance Painter/Designer/Sampler and another software to create your final images - for me it's Blender and Unreal :)

    Hello!! first of all, thank you for these tutorials, they really help me with a very uncommon workflow. I know the chances to fix a problem by this medium are very low, but when I send my textures to blender they look like in minute 15:40, (the first tile repeating everywhere) and the solution you talk about after that won´t work. May you have a clue what could be happening? thank you.

    • @digitalfashionblender
      @digitalfashionblender  Рік тому +1

      There could be a couple reasons.
      In Blender, you can manually set up the UDIM workflow by following these steps:
      In the Node Editor, select the image texture node that you want to assign a UDIM texture to.
      Open the Node Wrangler menu by pressing the Ctrl+Shift+Left Mouse Button on the image texture node.
      Select the "UV > UDIM" option from the Node Wrangler menu.
      In the "UDIM Tiles" panel that appears, select the appropriate UDIM tile number for the image texture.
      Repeat these steps for all image textures that you want to assign UDIM textures to.
      If the textures are not being read correctly and only the first UDIM image texture is connected, make sure that you have assigned the correct UDIM tile number to each image texture node. Also, check that the file paths for each UDIM texture are correct and that the textures are located in the correct folder.
      If the issue persists, you can try disabling the "Auto Texture Space" option in the Node Wrangler add-on preferences. This option is enabled by default and can sometimes cause issues when working with UDIM textures.
      You can access the Node Wrangler add-on preferences by going to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Node Wrangler.

    • @digitalfashionblender
      @digitalfashionblender  Рік тому +1

      Make sure you are not using GPU simulation. Check you have some fabric presets applied that are accurate to your fabric.
      Use complete simulation in the end, increase the amount of self collisions in the simulation properties as well can help. Reduce the number in time stepping as well to slow the simulation down in the same properties.
      Check the skin offset from the avatar isnt set too high. Sometimes 1.5mm is enough. Check the collision thickness in the fabrics is accurate and ensure there are no points where you avatar intersects with itself, under the armpits for example.
