Your reviews just keep getting better❣️ You are my ‘gold standard’ for learning about new music apps , what they sound like and how to use them, or special features that you like. You’re the only channel that I have turned notifications on for. I bought Volt the day it came out, after checking the developer’s info and listening to a sound byte from it. Since then I was just waiting for your review. Like I didn’t catch the low frequency control missing for the reverb. I like you adding the full shots of you outdoors...it makes you ‘more real’ to your audience I feel. Great jod❣️🤓👍
Loving this synth. Just noticed by the way that this is half price today, well worth buying, especially for anyone needing MPE compatibility. Great sounds too.
I use the Instrument 1 with Volt, it sounds amazing! Didn’t realise Kai made Italizer, love that app. He makes very deep, solid music apps does Kai. Definitely a name to look out for. Great review Jacob. You pack a lot into your presentations, it’s most appreciated. 🤘
Greetings to Jakob and Kai Aras. That square waveform was just perfect. Do you remember Jakob the video with Thor, Arturia iMini and Model D comparison? None of them had such a clean sqr waveform. Think I will get Volt. Im very happy with Agonizer and Shockwave already. BR Jakub
Great review. Synth sounds good and basically looks good but some of us with older eyes have trouble with text on black backgrounds. Like LayR did recently, it would be good if this app added a light background option.
fam, just use the 'smart invert' function on ios devices ! ..turns all black into white and vice versa .. i use it all the time. Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations > Invert Colors .. then select 'Smart Invert'. Also under 'Display Accommodations' you can apply Color Filters which tints the background and Reduce White Point (which when used with Smart Invert boosts the contrast ... which really helps) * * To avoid that lengthy process and set Smart Invert to appear when you Triple Click the home button go to Settings > General > Accessibility : scroll all the way to bottom to 'Accessibility Shortcut', select 'Smart Invert Colors' ...then anytime you want to use Smart Invert you just triple-click the home button and POW! ...Volt, LayR, AudioBus etc have a light background. Also makes super bright apps black ..obvs
BitterGums Good idea, but yeah the bright apps go black so it’s not ideal for my purposes. I just wish developers not use light text on dark background on any app.
I like kai's apps but that orange colour drives me nuts. I have a problem with reds. After years I finally realized that only a few of us have that red color problem. If the color contrast was different, I would use volt much more. All apps should have skins for us color blind people.
I bought it on the day of release as I had my tastebuds tickled by Doug, when he did a video of it a couple of weeks before release. Of course, I bought the Model D on the day of release too... well, I had to feed my appdiction 🤤
I don’t know what to say... it’s jaw dropping and mesmerizing! Aha I finally said something haha. I’m gonna buy this synth definitely. A real iOS music app addict can’t go without this synth.
I miss that developers don't use skeuomorphic design as much as they used to. I love that stuff and I also wish Apple still used it in their apps And gui more like yesteryear
@Jakob Haq how did you manage to have the volt synth interface directly in the cubasis app ? I cant record the volt synth in cubasis 3 and everytime i connected the synth via my arturia keystep in cubasis pads dont stop playing after i hit a key
This synth sounds great BUT the ui is not only dark but very tiny. Its hard not to be hunched over and squint while programing which is not enjoyable. Also the midi mapping is a pia; needs a midi learn fuction, ice gear style.
Any suggestion I’m just looking for a auv3 plug in with as many instruments as possible basic stuff from keys pianos guitars bells pads leads synth organ bells motions hits zaps trumpets flutes brass sax plucks strings violins . Uhh you get the picture thank you :0
My son lookin to get into music making an I saw this vid he keep talkin about keyboard sounds but what I wanna know if I get him a tablet do he gotta keep wiping the screen like I never see people do that so is it a music thing or what
No it’s not just a music thing for me. I clean my screen because it’ll “fog” up due to finger grease. During a recording session I’ll wash my hands thoroughly but after an hour in my hot studio I get greasy fingers, so I wipe the screen in order to keep it clean. . So during several recording hours I’ll wash hands quite frequently and wipe the iPad several times. Sometimes I have to move my lights to light up my hands and when the light falls in from the sides ... well any grease or dust on the iPad will light up and be visible. It’s not a great look for a video basically. . Also it’s good to clean the screen ever so often so that the tactile interface is fully responsive. I started showing bits in my videos of me wiping the screen a few years ago. After a while this became a thing and so my viewers kinda expect me to do that in my vids now. Hope this answers your question.
Open up the MIDI settings in the upper right corner, enable “receive MIDI CC”, then open up the “configure mapping” menu. From there you can map the controls.
Jakob Haq Ah thanks, I didn‘t think that such special stuff would be in the description, very nice of you. I even OWN that oscilloscope, but I only got it to work with the microphone so I never really got to use it. Is there a way to send the Cubasis sound directly to the Oscilloscope? How did you do it? :)
That Onyx Oscilloscope app supports Core Audio USB devices, so I’m getting sounds into it with a Behringer UCA-202. I’m basically running the app on my iPad mini 2 with the UCA connected to it. I’m running all synth apps on my iPad Pro 12,9” and I’m porting all the audio out through my AudioHUB into the UCA. That way I can play instruments and record audio on the Pro Pad while monitoring the Oscilloscope on the iPad mini 2. All iDevices are updated to iOS 11 so I just use the screen recording function to capture the oscilloscope, however audio doesn’t get recorded when doing that. But it’s easy to sync up the audio in the “blind”. Many of my viewers do not realise how much time and effort I put into details like this “simple” Oscilloscope In my videos. 😅
Wow. Thanks again for the detailed description. This really IS more than I have thought. Respect :) I have a 2nd iDevice (iPhone), will try to get this to work. I have a nice Oscillscope software for Ableton now but was lacking something for the iPad and the physical oscilloscopes are so damn expensive ...And that Oszilloskop app isn't really user friendly ... it would have been cool if you could have used it as an effect in Audiohub and it would have worked on one device all together ... but there is no such solution it seems ... would that be technically possible?
I’m always interested In hearing the reasons behind why someone likes something or as in your case (its seems) doesn’t like something. 😉 What is it about Roli you don’t like?

Totally agree. Jakob is the best.

Jakob that track is proper epic
Aw, thanks Doug!

I picked this up today because of you. I hope it’s all you say. Thank you for your videos. Legaceybeats
Once again... a superb and informative review made beautifully. Thank you, Jakob.
Nice overview, I like the addition of the outdoors bit too, looks very scenic.
Thank you!
Had to buy this based on your excellent video. Thank you for such a deep dive into it. Looking forward to making things with it.

💋💛
It's a great synth. I'm using it on my second beatmaker track. I agree with Kai, I like the skeueymorphic. I like photo realism.
.... Absolutely Lovely !!! , will purchase it in a minute for my VIA (virtual instrument apps ) arsenal ...
Great review. Synth sounds good and basically looks good but some of us with older eyes have trouble with text on black backgrounds. Like LayR did recently, it would be good if this app added a light background option.
I many times wish that apps had lighter colour schemes because they’re easier to film too. Especially with an iPhone. 😅

Great break down and explanation of things!
Thank you!
Hey Cool I missed this one thanks for showing us this Jakob Great vid !
Thank you! Yeah VOLT is a keeper! 👊🏼
I bought it on the day of release as I had my tastebuds tickled by Doug, when he did a video of it a couple of weeks before release. Of course, I bought the Model D on the day of release too... well, I had to feed my appdiction 🤤
I guess most of us are app-aholics! Luckily this VOLT is the good sh*t! ⭐️
Just purchased it. Love your presets. How do you keep coming up with names for all these?!
This synth is P O W E R
Very nice! Great sound and flexibility... but I have soooooo many iOS synths. What would this replace?
I don’t know what to say... it’s jaw dropping and mesmerizing! Aha I finally said something haha. I’m gonna buy this synth definitely. A real iOS music app addict can’t go without this synth.
Volt's interface feels very modern, I don't even think of it as being skeumorphic.
Thank you Jakob. Watching your video made me spent 10,99 € :)
Is Kai Swedish as well...? well done synt...nice video ///Thx to you and Kai !
Kai is from Germany! 👍🏼
Please make a video explaining the modulation matrix in Volt.
Except review, demonstration, and education.... at least for me 👍🏽😉🇦🇺

Volt + MPE == highlights what is possible with iPad expression!
Jakob plzzzzz make a full review of Layr Synth thankxxx..
Nice!
Would you recommend Korg nanokey studio or Keith McMillen K-Board...?
Unfortunately I’ve never owned or even tested a Keith McMillen K-Board so I’m unable to make a comparison between the two.
This synth sounds great BUT the ui is not only dark but very tiny. Its hard not to be hunched over and squint while programing which is not enjoyable. Also the midi mapping is a pia; needs a midi learn fuction, ice gear style.
How do you do MIDI controller mapping in Volt?
Thank you.
Any suggestion I’m just looking for a auv3 plug in with as many instruments as possible basic stuff from keys pianos guitars bells pads leads synth organ bells motions hits zaps trumpets flutes brass sax plucks strings violins . Uhh you get the picture thank you :0
Go Skeumorphism!!
Hi Jakob, how can I map volt controls to my nanokey studio? I'm having trouble figuring it out. Any help is appreciated!
Are you running volt as a stand alone or are you running it as an AUv3 inside a host?
@@JakobHaq I'm running as stand alone but I'd like to learn both ways - if possible! :)
@@JakobHaq after lots of digging I found a webpage that shows korgnano key scene default cc# for knobs!! Thats what I needed! Happy New Year!
Very Jarresque.
I love Jarre!
Around minute 14 of Jakob’s video it sounds like the intro arp from Oxygene 11. Very impressive synth. I love Jean Michel Jarre too.
HI Jakob, you dont make video on Grooverider ?
It’s on my todo list. 👍🏼

What is that funny oscilloscope?
Check the description for the full story about the Oscilloscope. 👍🏼

It sounds like ordinary Moog, nothing special
Roli😡
