- I will show you how to spin from the fold from the flat of the finger and from the tip of the finger using short forward draft and long draw. I will also show you another technique of splitting your fiber to prevent colors from running together too much when using a multi-colored combed top. Enjoy!

I loss my sweet husband on dec 18 19 and everything that I ordered from you makes me so happy and special thank you again
Oh Gail I'm so sorry ♡♡We love you.
🧶♥️Thank you so much!! Exactly what I was looking for. I know spinning from the fold used it a lot for silk, but it was tot my favourite way to spin. Now I understand why - I am a single colour person (until yesterday 🤣). I think I am going to use this method more often now as I bought some beautiful multicoloured top similar to yours.
Jilian Esparza ♥️ thank you for the link for this beautiful and very educational video!!
My pleasure. Glad it helped ♡
Thanks!
This is the most helpful video about the two subjects mentioned I have ever seen . Tahnk you cery much!
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!
Still my best and favorite teacher! Happy New Year Mary!!!
Happy new year my friend!!! Thank you
Thank you!
This magically makes sense now!!!!
I have some amazing blend fibers that I'm gonna try this on! Thank you!
Anytime!! I'm glad it made sense.
Happy Friday Mary! This video is so helpful! Just wonderful! So happy to hear that you made it through the hurricane...hope you didn’t have too much damage. ; ). I finally have the money and more importantly, hopefully the skills (after using a drop spindle for a long time), to purchase my first wheel, yay. I’m curious what wheel you’re using in this video, and would you recommend it to others? Ty for all your kindness, Jules: )
Yay! Thanks for the tips Mary. I have never been great at spinning from the fold... but I want to give this a try now. I love your combed tops. I just spun Fire Opal linen wool top and it drafted like butter. I love the texture of the flax with the wool. Mmm. I just love your fibers and the Spinning Box!!! :D
Thank you!! I appreciate the feedback.
Thanks Mary! This will make all the difference!
Great video! Can't wait to try this. One question, what is the purpose of the rubber bands or yarn on the flyer near the hooks? Also, why only on one side?
I was using them to keep the yarn going on the bobbin more evenly. The jury is still out if I"m going to keep doing like this or not :)
Camaj Fiber Arts your wheel seems to have quite a wobble. Wonder if it's unbalanced bc of those bands on only one side?
thanks so much for this video...beyond helpful!!!
My pleasure :)
If spinning from the fold is done to keep the colors more separate, would chain plying help that even further? I suppose it is worth an experiment from my perspective. I'm rather new compared to some. And a research scientist by education and experience.
Thank yo so much, this is a great video....
At first I was gonna ply the Bird of Paradise colorway with the Flowering Fuschia colorway but decided to spin them separately, across the width, as singles, and then I am going to knit them together using a colorwork pattern.
Wonderful! Thank you. A helpful hint? Would you be willing to put a white sheet down on the floor, or on your lap so that the viewers can see the color better? Again, many thanks for a great and helpful video

hi. thanks. i tried to open from the link. you tube says it's private.
What would you use a yarn this thick for?
I would 2-ply it and make socks or use it for lace.
thanks
