      I had a few reasons not to including the customer did not want to pay for it, and #2 I was worried about the effects of cleaning agents including water would have on the items underneath the fairing of this older bike! Last thing i wanted was to get some moisture into those connections. This bike has lived in a desert its whole life and most of that was really caked on. I did use an air compressor and a blower but neither of them worked to get the dirt off!

    • @octanerestorations
      @octanerestorations  Рік тому

      Most motorcycles yes! But these motorcycles have what is called a link brake system. The pedal controls the front left and rear brake, while the handlebar lever only controls front right brake. It is supposed to give you more even braking with this heavy motorcycle. Thank you for the comment!

    Nice, I am going to go clip my toenails ( I mean, restore my feet ) LOL JK.
    Looked like the paint and stuff was all jacked up ( Like mine ) and maybe some panels damaged or something like that. I am guessing that you just live in Oklahoma or somewhere that dirt is like Oklahoma and that bike was a big ole dirty clogged up behemoth. weird, I have a 98 and I cannot look through where my steering is and see the ground. I have a kit I bought, it's kind of industrial looking , it's 3 different bottles of stuff, basically a 3 part Plastic restoration type thing. it works super on the all my controls and buttons, got the windshield crystal clear and sealed it ( do still use the rain away stuff on it though, all that white dusty look comes right off the black plastic and it doesn't leave anything oily like armor all or products like that, dry as a bone and brand spanking looking. seems like it's running like a top! Congrats.

      I've worked on wings since 75 and (retired 6 years ago) they will usually get 200k miles plus before needing anything other than carb cleaning and tires and tuneup parts. I've only had 2 apart into the cases and even then the rings/valves were in great condition.

    I'm a tad confused - what part of this video is the Restoration? You got a dirty bike, got it running, gave it a pressure washing, (on the outside only), and took it for a ride out to the local gas station. The bike is still filthy as fuck, there are still obvious parts that need replacing, (which I doubt, because everything tells me you'll flick the bike as soon as possible). So, where is the 'Restoration' part of the video? What did I miss?
