The throw to Kittle is one top notch
So nice. I could watch that on a loop all day. If Purdy did that every once in a while could say he's pretty good. But he makes these throws too regularly to not be considered great

Under Shanahan, the 49ers have started most seasons slow and sloppy. To me, last year was the exception not the rule. I was hoping maybe Purdy could help change that, but apparently not. Add to that the numerous injuries before the season even started: Mccaffrey, Greenlaw, Mitchell, Felliciano... Huff BA Trent all missing preseason... Kyle has consistently refused to play rookies and this year they are all over the field if that tells you anything. All the people surprised by the start of this season just don't follow the niners that closely. They may very well be worse than last year, but honestly its still too early to tell
The NFL is 3 completely different eras, working on a 4th.

2. Superbowl era(1967-2000)- GOAT: Montana
3. Modern(2001-2012 or 13): Brady
4. TBD
I've been wathcing football since the 80s and trust me, it's not the same game anymore.

He's not even that great. He throws way too many picks for being some legendary QB. He's always one of the leagues worst QB's on air yards per pass. Brock Purdy was getting roasted with the system, check down QB while Mahommes is averaging 4 air yards per pass. When Mahommes checks it down 20 times a game "He's a smart QB"; if Purdy checked it 20 times a game "He's a system QB"...double standards are standards I guess...
Purdy has less time to throw this year and is still finding ways to keep plays alive and make plays. He is better this year and he was already good last year.

I think a lot of commentators/content makers flip-flop from week to week for views and clicks. It's a win-win... it either appeals to conformation-bias or is pure rage-baiting.

That was not a blown coverage.
Yeah it was. The CB assumed the LB had Deebo, but the LB had to cover the RB. It looked like they were playing zone, but when the CB bit on an Aiyuk crossing pattern, Deebo was wide open. Still, that's what happens in games. Brock still had to make the throw and the CB might have bit on Aiyuk's pattern because of where Brock was looking.
The throws to George for his tuddies were top draw, one on a postage stamp (the one in the video), the other in a tight window. His pocket awareness, broken play capabilities and scrambling are also elite.

EXACTLY... SF has had a stout Defense & abundance of Offensive Skill Talent for Years. NO RINGS!!! Mahomes is the standard, the gatekeeper, the FINAL BOSS. His "Down Year" is better than 90% of QB's "Best Years", and most importantly NOBODY WINS more in the HISTORY of the game thru this point in his Career 🤔
