That’s gonna be everyone taking him lightly lol, my first hunt timed out, I was like “wait what? no, fuck, get back heeeereeee”, he hits like a truck on steroids so you gotta dodge everything, unlike mizu and rathian that you can go toe to toe

@@warmblanketsandsocks205 If this was canta's first try then I’d agree, but as I’m aware he fought it many times I can say that it’s good because there was a lot of trial and error, and you only get to see the “good” run
He hits REALLY damn hard in the demo. Outside of that (and some questionable hitboxes on his tail attack) he seems like very learnable fight. he will probably end up similar to Nergigante. The first few times you fight him its really hard but once you got his pattern down we will probaly lie on the floor for most of the hunt.

Rathalos Shell - Rathalos Material. Mostly obtained as a reward. Can be used to craft gear.
Deviljho Scale - Rare Deviljho material. Mostly obtained by carving. Broadly used for many purposes.
I'm so glad they scrapped that bullshit.

I dig it. I like that he fights like Zinogre a lot but it's a given for the fact they're both fanged wyverns and share similar move sets, just like Narga, Barioth and Tigrex share a few similarities

The love child of Zinogre and Nergigante that spend a lot of time with uncle Teostra while growing up.
I managed to kill Nergigante first try back in the World Demo. Velkhana took 10 tries or so. Can't wait to find out where Magnamalo lands.
He also kinda looks like he hanged out with a gore magala for his emo teen years.
When it is on its side waving its legs. Looks very much like Gore magala
This monster is super fun, I timed out with him in my first attempt tho, cause holy shit where are the openings, took me a while to figure that out
So far I've tried a few multiplayer runs, all four ended in terrible failure. Got one try in solo at the moment. Ironically, I shredded Velk on my second try with the first being a time out.
Update: Got him with the Hammer in the 5th try. Probably would've been the 4th try but towards the end of the fight Mizutsune suddenly decided to throw me off mid Wyvern Ride.
Fun fight but some of his hitboxes, especially with some of his tail attacks, are a bit questionable. Maybe he is part Plesioth aswell.^^
3:47 It's a neat detail to see Magnamalo's tail is shaped like a Yari spear (and function's like one too!)
Rise makes me feel nostalgic. it has so many similarities to MHP3rd. the vibe, the quest clear theme, village theme, monsters, etc. cant wait to play it on pc later
My one wish is that they would bring back duramboros so i could fully experience that nostalgic feeling of P3rd again.

I love this theme so much but MH needs to add themes like they did back then too. Not every new or strong monster should have soft orchestra. We need that bass and hard drum beats like FU teostra.

White Fatalis and Zinogre p3rd were the best ones.
Guard: needs tight timing, lots of skills to actually work, stops own attack sequences, costs stamina and health. Long sword counters: do the same as guard but better in every single regard.
this is what I felt like trying to solo him with Lance. It felt like ass. couldn't clear after 30 attempts.

Got him to the blue icon. But seeing as this is what it takes to kill this guy, I'm good waiting for the actual game to drop.
That combo from Magnamalo at 4:47 is so goddamn cool. It looks amazing and it punishes you if you don't use your wirebugs wisely, which is great design imo, incorperating new gameplay elements into monster movesets is really fun. I think Magnamalo may be my new favourite Fanged Wyvern

A few friends of mine were saying this was impossible because of the set and the monster's rank. I told them to never doubt and I came to check your channel after a VERY long time. This is the first thing I see and I'm definitely not surprise you have kept your touch 😂
I have yet to beat him solo on HBG after 7 or so tries give or take. He's already rough on blademaster but on gunner, if you're not perfecting this fight you're not clearing, what a powerhouse. I wasn't a fan of his design at first but seeing him fight in game has bumped him up to one of my favorite flagships tbh.

So in the first like- 5 seconds of this fight did you do some type of counter move to fill the spirit gauge to go up a level? I've been trying to learn LS and I can't figure out the inputs to do that ;-;

Holdup...are the buff collectibles you get during the quests in this game add to like, overall attributes outside of the quests like in an RPG? That would be super sick.
no they only last for the duration of the quest

Hellblight, blows up like blast blight if you don’t roll or wire dash to get rid of it.

@@princekanbatsu2301 if you wire dash it leaves a hell fire mine on the ground that can damage and trip magnamalo if he comes into contact with it.

First, you have to get, at least, one bar of spirt sword filled. Then, after pressing ZL+X, press ZR after your character steps de monster.

The whole fight rotates around the fact it keeps charging itself, so the whole theme is a massive build-up.

Oh wow, subbed. This is the first Magnamalo kill I watched so far.
Some of its movements reminds me of Gore/Shagaru magala and a little of Zinogre Maybe is just my imagination
Felt pretty big Zinogre vibes from it, I don’t know about the other monsters tho since I’m newer to the series (coming in from base MHW). The aura it builds as it fights, it’s jumping ground slams with its fists, and overall just how jumpy it is reminds a lot of Zinogre.
I think he's closer to Zinogre, I didn't really see much of him in the ways of Gore/Shagaru but he his flames ignite like Teo's dust and has a tail jab like Velk, the one thing that he shares with Gore/Shagaru is the air tackle, which Nerg has as well.
All in all a pretty neat fight.
Though honestly I feel he plays the most like Stygian Zinogre after he got reworked in Iceborne

@@roguepoison is not that it's doing Shagaru magala moves, is the tail whip it does and the bite he does coming forward aside of that, looks very Zinogre like but different
His dash reminds me of Inagami from frontier 5
I noticed that they did actually decrease the amount of damage of the helm splitter.
You’d have to compare on mizu since every attack is doing less damage (higher defense values)
For what ive seen, iai spirit slash is the new focus, does more damage while in red gauge

Canta how do you know when Magnamalo will do one claw slam vs two? It's really hard for me to tell which can lead to carting.

how difficult are the i frame dodges in this compared to world?
I don't know why but after Canta did this at 9:48 I think something inside of them awakened, their level of play and aggression noticably increased
Idk...mine had waaaaay more hp than that, they didn't keep the bs that's in the live game (variable health) did they?
I got off 8 wall smashes, mounts, parried and countered all of the OHKO lasers, and was constantly aggressive, I killed all the AT's solo back in World, not sure we're fighting the same monster at this point
I even took advantage of traps + free knockdown (when you get affected by the dot, using the wirebug dash will drop it, the monster gets knocked down instantly for free the first time, later it does damage and seems to be a fair bit of KO damage, scaling from 50 to 150 based on stage of fight it seems)
Out of 60 tries I've seen him start in that area once, just saw him start with Mizu on the last run, which I got cheated on, I'd be curious to see datamining and testing on his HP and if it varies, or if streamer access had a lower hp version or something

Don't lie. If you saw him without context, you'd probably assume he was from Frontier, too
It's the fact that its pin takes place in mid-air that really sells the frontier vibe of murdering you as you're tumbling through the air.

Do you guys know if it's possible to play with the GameCube controller or does have to be the switch controller?
I feel like gamecube controllers don't have enough buttons for all the controls. I think you'd be better off with Joy-Cons or a Pro Controller. Unless there are newer gamecube controllers with added buttons for Switch

Canta, if you have hellblight and do a forward wirebug dash while sheathed, it will leave a flame that can knock Magnamalo over. The 1st time you do it, it will always knock him over.
You might know this already but I noticed you didn't do it when you had hellblight.

Something that bugs me from MHR is that, some of the bladed weapons lacks some ooomph and weight when attacking.
Yes agreed with you. There’s are lack of satisfying when landing attack especially LS and GS. I haven’t try the 2nd demo yet
YES DUDE, thank god someone else brings this up. It really sucks cuz it one of the things I loved about MH. The really good attack animation paired with a good oomph sound effect and proper hitstop. Just... ooof, lord have mercy I'm bout to bust. Jk, sorry, had to. In this game, cutting attacks unfortunately just sound like you are slapping the monster

You can roll or wire dash to get rid of it.
If you wiredash with your weapon sheathed (ZL + A) you not only get rid of it on yourself but you leave a bit of the malice on the ground that can stagger magnamalo if it runs into it (similar to blast toads).

Looking at his attacks, I'm hoping his weapons have blast element, since a blast elem monster hasn't been shown in any of the trailers yet as far as I'm aware.
He inflicts hellblight, just like blast BUT you can use it to your advantage to harm magna!

It would be cool if in the full release, his armor emanates that purple aura he has around him. Even better if they add that unique sound his aura makes when he is walking around

Thats the spirit level, white level 1, yellow level 2, red level 3.
You see the sword icon below hp bar? That icon is spirit gauge, can be fill with normal attack by pressing X or A button, when its full you can press ZR repeatedly to do spirit combo, at the end of spirit combo you can do roundhouse spirit slash if it hit the sword will change color, do this 3 times to reach level 3 (Red)
Don't blame ya, when I first saw longsword I was confused too. They are just spirit levels that increase raw everytime he use the counter or spirit combo. The color goes red after 3 times.
What does the purple fire do?
