After beating Persona 5 Royal using only Gun Damage we go back in the series for some more Persona 4 Golden stuff. This time we will try to beat the entire game without fighting any random encounters. Basically we only do the mandatory battles and that's all!

Wow, this was honestly insane man! HUGE congrats to you for not only doing this run, but doing it on Very Hard Difficulty. I honestly would have gave up and called it impossible, especially after Mitsuo and Ameno-Sagiri who seem to be the most brutal part of the whole run. But you did it! Huge congrats to you! And hey, I got to learn a few things from this run too! Like how KO'd members can debuff Ameno during Bewildering Fog or how Kunino never goes for physical, so you can just endure the whole thing with magic mirrors or makarakarn. Good job getting through this run! Definitely one of the most brutal challenge runs I've ever seen on this game.
The most brutal part of this challenge was not the hellish difficulty, nor the stringent resource management. No, it was the relentless bullying of poor, poor Nanako. This is truly the worst timeline, True Golden Ending or no.
After years of playing persona i realized through this video that Goho-M is a pun "Go Home"

The first mini boss in yukiko's dungeon doesn't even have a weakness in vanilla, so it might just end right there 💀

@@pokeharvester4899 the only reason I lost was really just because I came with no plan the hardest part of the fight was Chie giving Yukiko 2 turns I was able to skip the summoning of her prince by damaging her enough before she spawns him
I haven't finished the video yet but if this is possible you need the most incredible RNG
You put in a lot of work for such a small channel, love your videos. Just as a piece of constructive criticism, when you are explaining your strategies for certain bosses, it would be nice to have some graphics that match what you are talking about on screen. The Mitsuo fight was a good example of this, its really hard to compartmentalize everything that you are saying in my head, and I feel like some graphics would be helpful in making the fight more understandable from a viewers perspective, as well as freshen up the footage past the gameplay that is being shown. I know that these videos take a lot of time and effort to make, and I'm not trying to diminish your already amazing work. Excited for the next video!
This is something I actually thought about as well, even more so when things get a bit more complicated (like the Mitsuo fight). The problem was that I was already so accustomed to everything that it became somewhat "normal" for me, hence why I didn't do anything extra for the most part but it is definitely something I'll keep in the back of my mind for future videos!
I love to see this, genuine criticism that comes from a good place and positive reception. It gives me hope in UA-cam after darn near losing it. Props to you both! 👍
@@RagnarAlvarrGaming I have a question about the RNG manipulation: how do you reliably exploit it to acquire Barbaric Bracers or Chakra Rings from locked chests in the areas where they can appear?
@@steam-powereddolphin5449 as far as I know there is only known item manipulation for the Divine Pillar at the moment since it is used in speedruns. Technically you can manipulate every drop but you'd need to trial and error to find a matching pattern

As someone who did this challenge myself I knew the boss with the most focus would be Ame no Sagiri, that guy is absolute hell for this run.
For those who didn't know, if you want to make the Shadow Teddie fight easier, when Shadow Teddie charges up to do Nihil Hand, you can stagger him out of it by just dealing enough damage to him before he can use the actual ability, forcing him to forfeit a turn.
This is so cool! Not only is this a super impressive challenge to watch it was a great look into the bosses AI. It really felt like i was learning with you lol

Somebody who went by the name Soulgrunt actually did something like this a while ago, but their channel seems to have disappeared.
I still have a copy of all their pre-boss save files (as they were generous enough to provide these shortly after the first long-awaited port released on June 13, 2020), and I used them to make pre-miniboss saves of my own. If anyone wants these saves, I'm happy to share what this legend left behind...
Edit: I believe they also disallowed movies and the Haikara Shirt, and split EXP from every big battle starting with Shadow Mitsuo. The protagonist's final level was a mere 27, and they also relied on dodge strategies later on. (I can tell this because I have the aforementioned saves from the lost legendary run). Even so, your run is still very impressive!

This was easily the most entertaining challenge run I've seen. The Ameno Sagiri fight was hype 😅 amazing!
Wow, that was intense. A really fun watch, and I think the way you did commentary this time around is solid. It certainly was easy to follow and it was nice to hear the thought process, something that can get kinda missed in post-scripting, I think.

huge props to you bro. i would never do this. i'm doing a low level (not mandatory encounters, i'm allowing gold shadow grinding cuz they give no exp and i don't think i can win the game without weapon fusion) run of persona 3 fes and this challenge actually seems worse to do. which is funny because most people would consider this game easier on a normal run.

I did this challenge a few years back when i was bedridden for a while. One of the most fun times i've ever had playing a persona game, second only to my first playthrough of Persona 3 FES. I do recommend.

Nice man! I'm doing Very Hard, not a low level run, but I kinda don't just want to grind up to recommended as I might as well have played Hard if I were gonna do that. This is extremely helpful! I'm on Mitsuo right now and man he's a pain.

I had relied on dodges multiple times in P4 in a lot of challenge runs, you’ll be surprised how well it worked.
I felt really dimb being like why would you replace someone woth noato who excels at random encounters. Then realized. Ahe comes with a ton of levels and should be able to out dps izanagi and has better element coverage whixh yu cant do this run

I think this type of run is what made atlus turn the first shuffle time and shadow negotiation obligatory in every game after p4 so the player doesn't lack options like what's happening here

i can't believe how crazy this was. I had to grind for hours to beat this game.
My first playthrough of this game was actually a low level run on very hard. I find it interesting your MC and Teddie are the same level as mine when I fought Ameno-sagiri. And this is with me fighting normal enemies for quest and shuffle time.

Mute Ray deals Mute-type damage, as Resist/Null Mute can mitigate its effects as well.
(That said, skills that deal damage belonging to ailment types are incredibly rare outside of Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga, as far as I'm aware).

I did a similar thing on Very Easy myself. My biggest stumbling block was Ameno-Sagiri as I just didn't have enough of the right items. I had to rely on multiple free revives just to get past, because I didn't have much time or patience then.

Update! Grabbed some Magatamas myself thanks to your strat and it helped me push through the armor rebuilds! It was weird though. For a few attempts when he started doing the 2-stage rebuild he finished the 3rd one on the following turn where I only had gotten off around 650dmg. Since I'm not doing low level I lasted a bit against the Gigadynes but eventually lost it.
On the attempt where I won he did a 2-stage build and I threw a Bufudyne and 2 Magatamas but then thought back to the last few attempts. If he was gonna take the 3 turns we thought he should I'd still have enough actions but if he finished his rebuild I'm gonna want a Rakukaja on MC. I didn't have enough output to down the 2nd stage rebuild in one turn so might as well buff. Well I buffed and he Dekaja'd and evil smiled! I knocked him down and he started only doing 1-stage rebuilds again which was just like what? Anyways not gonna complain. I took the W. Thanks for the help

I'm not gonna lie. I did not think you were gonna be able to beat the challenge bc of how hard Izanagi is. I literally could not beat her and had to lower the enemy dmg down in the menu to beat her and I regret it. I'm playing P4G again just to beat her without lowering it.
Without even watching, I'm going to say the teddie fight was a nightmare. Even going in fully prepared, it's a slog.

Maybe I skipped this but, which was the reason of having Yukiko unstead of Kanji? (Higher level)
Yukiko learns Matarunda via bike trips which is literally our only available attack debuff and also the only reason we can tank some of the hits later on. She also puts out some serious DPS in the Kusumi-no-Okami bossfight so unless you're relying on dodges, she is a better choice than Kanji.
