This is played with raw emotion. I don’t think this version can ever be replicated. The lyrics cut very close to the bone. Even the guitar solo is played with pure feeling. This guy is so talented. ❤
@@lyndaframe2088 I’m so glad you found this by following the link. It’s a really amazing performance that I also watch daily, it’s part of my evening routine. It helps me to slow my racing mind down and for a whole hour of watching this and other war on drugs performances in my playlist I can forget everything. 🙏🏼❤️
This song, together with Lost in a dream I listen every night since my mother suddenly passed away october 9th. The monday after we brought her away and the monday following my second daughter was born. We named her after my mother, her name is Doris Louise. All the music of this great band helps me get me act together and be a dad and meanwhile missing my mother. It’s a blessed band
I think I've had a lot of fun diving into retrospective looks at older acts since I really got into The War on Drugs. I can't say TWoD is the only band that influenced that look back, but once I realized all sorts of bands I like now keep talking about Springsteen and Petty with a tone of reverence, it was a sign I had to go back and listen to those acts with more intent than I'd given them before when they were just part of the classic rock radio shuffle. One TWoD influence I rarely see pointed out though, Dire Straits. I don't know if Adam has ever verbally pointed out that as an influence, but something about the shared heartland guitar rock style is hard to miss.
It’s utterly amazing that humans evolved to the point of molding steel, wood, plastic and electric into these instruments. It’s a miracle that they learned to use them so beautifully.
discovered these guys like two days ago, I was amazed right on the first listening. They're truly honoring all that Springsteen, Dylan, Tom Petty and co. did. I'm really happy guys
I left my old life, and started a new one; and it's a better life, and it's for the best I leave the old one. But I still feel for having left it. That's what this song means to me.
Once bumped into Charlie and Anthony before a gig in Austin in 2014, they grabbed food and went trough the crowd to get back to the side of the stage. No one recognized them but me and my wife.😁
The best band ever, for me... I have been listening all kinds and styles of music, but after I met this band, its won my soul... This song, for example, goes ahead of the time... A hug for all, from Brazil...
I was sailin' down here on the wind When I met you and I fell away again Like a train in reverse down a dark road Carrying the whole load Just rattling the whole way home Have you fixed your eyes to the wind? Will you let it pull you in again? On the way back in? I’m a bit run down here at the moment Let me think about it babe Let me hold ya There’s a cold wind blowing down my old road Down the backstreets where the pines grow Where the river splits the undertows But I’d be lying to myself if I said that I didn’t mind Leave it hanging on a line Lost inside my head Is this the way I’ll be denied, again? So I'll set my eyes to the wind But it won’t be easy To leave it all again Just bit run down here There's just a stranger Living in me As you set your eyes to the wind And you see me pull away again haven't lost it on a friend I'm just bit run down here at the moment Yeah, I'm all alone here Living in darkness
I heard Dave Hartley say in a radio interview that Glen Campbell's family told him that Glen was listening to this as he slipped from this world. I seriously doubt if he's found anything sweeter in the next.
It’s one of the most emotional guitar riffs I’ve ever heard. Transports you back to some old summer love from our youth we thought would never end. It’s so full of longing.
Me gusta mucho la banda y su propuesta, siento al escucharlos las influencias y está canción tiene mucha magia, envuelve y por un momento me desconectó; buenos arreglos y el final es increíble. Buena...
I just feel at peace when that solo kicks in. Excellence
If it went on for another 10 minutes it wouldn’t be too long. Just incredible.

Thank you @chrisk7082 (I followed a link you put onto another TWOD comment.) This is my daily medicine which makes me feel almost ok! 👍🙏🏼🎶❤

Totally agree. I love this album - Lost In The Dream. This is the best version this song has ever got.
The solo is pure emotion

Got every music genre on the planet and seen them all but these guys are the absolute best .
This song got me through one of the worst breakups of my life. Absorbed hours upon hours of tears. Incredible what a song of this caliber can do.
It's an uplifting tune, man. It makes suffering, enjoyable... I suppose.
The best rendition of eyes to the wind live or recorded out there. Always revisit this at least once a year to tear up a bit
One of the most poetic songs ever made... The album is a masterpiece.
It's just a delight.
Heck yes it is - one of those Rare albums that is solid and smooth all the way through❤😌🎶
It's amazing how they sound like a thousand old classic bands.
mantra3000 All My favorite bands mashed together
I was thinking the same. I hear Jackson Browne, Neil Young, Bob Dylan & (the lesser known) Silver Jews. Great tune. Glad I discovered them today. 👍
for sure, Bob Seger
@@waynefairclough2960 hell yeah

I guess he will never play 'eyes to the wind' like this again, best version ever! many feelings on this one.
Their finest hour, I think even Granduciel would admit
7 years later and I still break down in tears at that solo.
I’ve needed this on spotify for way too long. God, it’s special.
Indeed, my favorite song in a couple of years... It's on the top... holding hands with Nature Boy - Nick Cave | Be Still - The Killers
Is this version on Spotify?
@@kennyalex8888I wish. Makes me sob every time. Just saw them in Asbury and I cried like a baby 😂
There’s an awesome collection on Spotify now called Live Drugs.
Incredible band
I love how the drummer dances a bit. Just lovely.

Observations:
1. Incredible Guitar Solo at the end.
2. I want that Spurs "Dunk Zone" Tshirt
3. Drummer's shirt + vest combo is on point

That solo is legendary
Yes, Yes & Yes.
That solo gets me everytime. Wow
Oops! Missed a note
I left my old life, and started a new one; and it's a better life, and it's for the best I leave the old one. But I still feel for having left it.
That's what this song means to me.
I just did the same. I feel you. Hope, all is well.😊
Gosh that was poetry to read. I know exactly what you mean ❤
What A Fucking Solo. I felt it go through my bones

ikr, this version is so good.
I listen to this song every day just to hear that solo
❤
I'm not sure what I love more... This song or the drummer's facial expressions around 3:55.
I saw them live in 2015 at Roskilde, amazing live, amazing album, amazing light show.
One of the most important songs in my life ever
One of my best finds in lockdown #1.... love this band!
LIke a modernized Grateful Dead. Finally.
I can hear Jerry’s soul, in that voice and guitar solo.
Waiting to see them live for the first time in Philly in September. It’ll be life changing!
The best version of this song.
I'm just in awe that people are producing such beautiful things in the world. Beautiful. My heart is happy.

Two words: masterpiece, beautiful.
adam is an artist, a precious soul, that solo is like a waterfall over our faces!!
Reminder that what the American soul truly yearns for is classic rock done well.
I was sailin' down here on the wind
When I met you and I fell away again
Like a train in reverse down a dark road
Carrying the whole load
Just rattling the whole way home
Have you fixed your eyes to the wind?
Will you let it pull you in again?
On the way back in?
I’m a bit run down here at the moment
Let me think about it babe
Let me hold ya
There’s a cold wind blowing down my old road
Down the backstreets where the pines grow
Where the river splits the undertows
But I’d be lying to myself if I said that I didn’t mind
Leave it hanging on a line
Lost inside my head
Is this the way I’ll be denied, again?
So I'll set my eyes to the wind
But it won’t be easy
To leave it all again
Just bit run down here
There's just a stranger
Living in me
As you set your eyes to the wind
And you see me pull away again
haven't lost it on a friend
I'm just bit run down here at the moment
Yeah, I'm all alone here
Living in darkness
Beautiful
this guitar solo always makes me teary-eyed
I have watched this video over 2000 times by now and it always feels the same. Counting the hours to see them live again.
This performance needs to live on. For a very long time.
ive never met a song from these guys i didnt absolutely love. their albums are all like "Best of albums" 😂❤❤❤❤❤😎😎
Fantastic song made even better by that incredible solo, so powerful it brings tears to my eyes!
An amazing band in their infancy, pretty special to see how much they have grown together, I will continue to enjoy the ride!
T-une...the lyrics in itself is pure poetry and then to top it off he pours his heart out in that brilliant guitar solo...superb
My last song... the song of my life!

I agree.
He gets it! This song has helped me get through the loss of my lovely labrador it is indeed the last song!
Nicholas Kirchner Bless you.
I heard Dave Hartley say in a radio interview that Glen Campbell's family told him that Glen was listening to this as he slipped from this world. I seriously doubt if he's found anything sweeter in the next.
Michael Pavlik is this true?! Please tell me it is so and possible link or direction to find this...
4:50 - 5:10 always gives me goosebumps
It’s one of the most emotional guitar riffs I’ve ever heard. Transports you back to some old summer love from our youth we thought would never end. It’s so full of longing.
Incredible. Things like this make Life special
fuck, Amazing.
this feels like sailing away with a pinkish sunset; so much poetry in this
One year later and ... Damn!!! What a fucking great solo!
Seeing these guys live this week. Have not been this excited for a show in a while!
Much love from Holland
what a amazing band!!!
Best song of 2014 - love it.
Y’all ever had a song make you cry? I don’t even know why I teared up when that solo hit
I can hear Bruce Hornsby style amongst the guitar solo in the piano underneath, nice tune. My first listen
Watched them at Glastonbury a few years ago. Best band by a mile even.
Q buena musica hace esta banda
Excellent performance, recording.
Me gusta mucho la banda y su propuesta, siento al escucharlos las influencias y está canción tiene mucha magia, envuelve y por un momento me desconectó; buenos arreglos y el final es increíble. Buena...
One of the best tracks of the album!

Beautiful song
I told myself I wasn't gonna cry today too. Damn!
Seriously so good. Couldn't even explain if I tried.
Thankful for this shit :)
Wonderful song...So emotional..
Amazing
The Stones, Dylan and a little bit of the Heartbreakers. Love it!
Dire straits too
This has made my day, an already beautiful song just got even more so. ❤
I prefer this version of the song the guitar solo at the end is amazing
For sure! The solo remembers me of Neil Young.
It surely has an unique feeling, that solo at the end... :x
Anthony Patterson I'm torn. On the one hand, this version has that awesome solo. On the other hand, the album version has that awesome intro.
where's the saxophone love?!
Loving this song since I first heard it on World Cafe back in the day.
This song is brilliant and sublime - an absolute work of genius. I am blown away.
Righteous master piece.
Gives me goosebumps!
Charlie's technique is insanely fucking good!
THE WAY THE POWER COMES WHETERVER HE WANTS TO
I wouldn't be surprised if this song was written for him. He's got such child-like adoration for it and really seems to love getting lost in it...
Magnificent. Right place right time just gorgeous
GREAT SONG! Bob Dylan would be proud.
Grand du ciel porte bien son nom !
Throw in a splash of The Waterboys! So damn great fellas!
Think this is the best version of the song ive heard, and that goes for this whole session, aceing it.
Unbelievably superb ❤❤
pure beauty
Favourite song of 2014
...
This is one of those most amazing moments.
Adam G is one of the best ever.
Ill cya later friends.
Perfection
Damn!!!!!! ALL I can say!!!!
Thank you Officer Surplus 🙏🏻
I fucking love this song!!!! :-)
Why isn't this version on the album? It's amazing.
It's like the lead singer went down to the staff room at the local middle school and said, "anyone want to be in a band?"
Otro hermoso tema de TWOD
Just discovered this band. .are they ever good..
awesome!!!! this álbum is perfect
This is so perfect...
Great version of Eyes! Who knew that Mike Damone and Mark "Rat" Ratner were in the band?
Blackie Onassis I guess Damone can scalp tickets to his own band now.
That solo reminds me so much of Harrison’s work on Abbey Road. It just fucking soars.
Solo 3:54
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
I love this whole record. I'm sure they have written some less than amazing stuff, but it aint on this record. Austin in September!
