I'm heading off to university in September to study Music Technology & Production, so I cannot express how thankful I am for you and these videos. Thank you so much!
This one was more of a relaxing fun video for me because I really didn’t do a lot of work. Even had a drink while technically working, and I never do that. Just a really fun night of good music and everyone in the club vibing.
this looked cool. i have been doing alternative clubs and events for about 35 years. at one point 3 or 4 times a week. only do a few a year now. i love doing 80s 90s and later alternative with some rock and nmetal thrown in. this looked like a good party. woody. cape town south africa.
I was going to ask if Dingbatz did more than just rock/metal, and this video and your other replies have answered that question! If I'm ever in the area I'll definitely have to make a stop 😂
My favorite thing about being a lifetime soundman, having toured both coasts multiple times through my 20's and 30's as FOH is when some drunk person comes up and asks if I can change the song since I'm the DJ. Never gets old 🤣🤣
damn chris! you put a lot of effort into a DJ party. most engineers i know (myself included) just set the gain, little EQ, then sit at the console and smoke (blowing the smoke away from the console, ofc)
@@chrishammillaudio Right on man, the broad-strokes of the concept don't really change much from DJ/band/etc right? It's simple: Connect the Performer to the Audience, however you gotta get it done!
I have absolutely no idea why I enjoy this so damn much.. keep up the great work. I did have a question, my band is going to be playing our first show soon and it'll be my first ever. What do most sound people appreciate? (IEM's, setlist etc) I want to stay on your good side lol. Appreciate the videos man.
Show up on time, provide any monitor mix request as you’re about to start line check, provide a set list so they can follow along and if the venue has options for lights any lighting requests.
Wish I would have had these vids when i was learning about FOH, doing a huge service! Would love an X32 tips and tricks vids, i come from the avid/digidesign world but often have to use one.
Yes yes, We love getting the DJ's out of Red and Yellow and telling them the compressor is gonna kill them if they increase the volume, but guess what they always bring it back to Yellow and Red.
Great Video👍🏼 didnt the djs want some monitoring? Cause lately we had some Lacoustics A15 with Ks21 just for the monitoring 😅 And man you djs are chilled with the gain. I had someone turned down all the way on an M32 and he still was clipping 😮 if your not red lining your not headlining I've heard 😂 Cheers
Listening to "Feel Good Inc." on a nice PA with powerful subs is so much fun with this bass line. It's a shame that your venue is so far away for a small German band like mine. Would love to play there.
Hey man, love the channel. I do corporate, wedding and club audio as long as broadcast A1 work for NBC….this is slightly off audio topic, but I travel with a lighting show about the same size as your club rig. I also use the same Chamsys board you have. Would you consider doing a video on how you program and use the grid control, the bumps and main playbacks. I like how you have the strobe fx….and your movers. So you program those moves or just use the presets? Thanks man. Keep up the good work.
I would gladly make tutorials on how to program lights if I knew how to program lights. We have an LD that comes in and does all of the programming. I just know how to use the faders and presets that he already programs.
I may have missed it but did you do any EQ changes when they switched genre during the show ? If you did, was it on the moment when they switched or does the x32 have a sort of eq presets you can switch to rapidly ? Great video, looked like a fun night !
I only adjust EQ if the song playing calls for any adjustment, usually the top high end coming from the DJ. Had 3 DJs this night and all 3 had different types of rigs so had to adjust for all 3. Most of the time I just adjust gain structure.
I noticed you showcase a lot of rock and dance music. Have you mixed any rap performances or any karaoke or jazz performances that could have happened? Not really sure if the club mainly features rock bands but was just curious.
The club does hip hop shows but I refuse to work hip hop shows ever again. Had too many instances where I felt unsafe and threatened to feel comfortable doing them. Never did a jazz show but would love to.
If you are going to have DJs working on those folding picnic tables, I suggest raising them a bit, PVC pipe around each leg works. They generally are too short for a grown man, and you end up hunching over them, bad for your back and doesn't look good. Also a black sheet over the table makes it look much better too. Great videos!

Happy to provide content.
Amazing as always, these videos are so educational 🔥
Thai video is definitely not educational in anything other than showing what good music is.
love it man, love seeing these videos

Fantastic, Chris! You did a great job of giving us the sound and ambience we needed, and what a great job on the video! You rock.
Any chance you recorded your sets? I'd love to have a listen. See if I can't find some gems I don't know about.
Appreciate it! 🤘

Come on by!
Great job Chris. We alway love working with you. We always have great sound and lights. Can't wait for the next party.
Can’t wait either. Always love these nights.

@@StereoAnthony Sorry Anthony I didn't but if you give me an email address and I`ll send you my playlist from the night. I was 1 of 3 dj's that night.
@@dools93 Thats very kind of you! Thank you!
Great content man!!! Keep it coming!!!
Most definitely
My favorite thing about being a lifetime soundman, having toured both coasts multiple times through my 20's and 30's as FOH is when some drunk person comes up and asks if I can change the song since I'm the DJ. Never gets old 🤣🤣
Every show I am asked to play different songs. It’s annoying but if people wanna dance and the bar mates more money I can’t say no.
@@chrishammillaudio Yeah, but I'm talking about REALLY DRUNK people, while I'm running live sound for live music 😂😂🤣🤣
Oh. Those people I just ignore. I'm working. Don't have time to entertain people in the crowd. Ignoring works most of the time.
@@chrishammillaudio sure sure, but it definitely gets a laugh out of me, half of the time 😂😂
Love your videos bro. Keep them coming😅👍
🤘
When I saw the video I wished I was there that night!
It was a happening party!
damn chris! you put a lot of effort into a DJ party. most engineers i know (myself included) just set the gain, little EQ, then sit at the console and smoke (blowing the smoke away from the console, ofc)
If it means the DJs are happy and the crowd is happy, I’ll do whatever needs to be done.

1:32 yes of course ! LOVE THIS STUFF !!!
Low key my favorite music genre and can listen to it all day.
Man! What a vibe! Great music! Definitely visiting DingBatz when I’m in the area.
Hope to see you there!
Yea thanks that was I meaning yesterday very cool 👌🏼

Not every DJ did this that night, but one did and it was annoying to constantly battle him with volume.
@@chrishammillaudio Yep story of my life! i do this every week with DJ's at a certain point i let the Compressor take the wheel
I think this is the perfect venue for a new wave/post punk party/live. Intimate with the whole floor ready to dance. Early 90s vibes in your video :D
It really is a perfect venue for these types of parties.
Ha that’s nice. I’ve done a bit of mixing at school, thinking of being a volunteer dj and sound tech one day.
Do it. You won’t regret it.
Yea. I will. Thanks for the reply.

One of the DJ's kept raising his gain and I was all of the way down on the gain channel. All DJ's had monitoring.

Chris, what was the first song being played? Love the videos my friends, I look forward to seeing them!
Ceremony - New Order

6:45 were those channels not linked..? Was there an LR imbalance in level coming to you?
Nope. Unlinked and yes. I always keep dj connections unlinked for that reason.

Also, pulling the DJ gear out of the cases and setting it up on top of the cases on the table will get you a 6 inch rise pretty easily.
Hey, does somebody know what track that is at 6:25?
Shazam is a great app to help you with that…
@@chrishammillaudio It would be if it would find something.
you wouldnt happen to have the set list for this would you lol.
Nope. You can message Bob the DJ - insta linked in description.

It’s important and you should practice it.
Can we get mustang content?
Ironically I am editing a in depth real world Action 4 camera review right now and a good chunk of that will be POV Mustang content.
6:22 song?
It's "Individuals" by Test Infection.
