- Here's a short story explaining my fear of deep dark water. In my next video, I'll be exploring the trepidation of Loch Ness and why individuals experience unsettling emotions.

I would never swim there either!!!
There was also a strange occurrence of two divers ( during the 70's I think ) swimming back up the to Loch surface and they both felt something solid touch the legs as they made their ascent. They remained calm and just kept swimming but they were quick to get out when they could. This was open water without any known objects they knew of like a sunken log or something similar. Spooky !
excellent reminiscence - enjoyed this, thank you
There's the unfortunate event of one Mrs. Hambro drowning close to shore. I think it was a boat fire ? Several people jumped into the Loch and swam to shore and apparently a woman who was a very capable swimmer went under close to the shore but in deep water and was never seen again . I don't know if her body was ever recovered due to the depth of where she drowned.
I'll be exploring this event in the next video 👍🏻
@@TeamLNE Looking forward to it.
Be interested to know what the water temperature tends to be in Loch Ness. Considering the depth of the water, I would imagine it's painfully cold.
Believe it or not, the Loch remains at a steady 6°C all year round. With or without a wetsuit on, the Loch is bitterly cold.
Fun fact: Even in the coldest weather conditions and harsh Scottish6 winters, the Loch does NOT freeze over. It's incredible!
6 degrees Celcius. (shudder) I've seen a video in which a woman of mature years is blithely doing the breast stroke across the surface of that cold, murky 800 foot deep- and perhaps monster-haunted- water. Amazes me.
There's a lot of wild swimming in Loch Ness, especially around the Dores area. I certainly wouldn't go swimming in the middle of the Loch!
