When were the 5 Istari sent to Middle Earth? was it possible that Gandalf was sent to Middle Earth before Saruman and interacted with the Harfoots and such before the rings were crafted? I watched your video, it seems like Rings of Power is utterly and completely opposing reality
@@matthewklassen7457 The Istari came to Middle Earth in the Third Age year 1000. Though in Tolkien's later writings, the Blue Wizards came in the Second Age year 1600, roughly the same time as Glorfindel and just after Sauron forged the One Ring. Their task was to cause disruption against Sauron in the East and South, though nothing is heard or seen of them again.
Sauron's wrath with Celebrimbor did not stop there. IIRC Celebrimbor's corpse was then shot with arrows and used as banner by Sauron's armies. Imagine seeing your king's body used as a flag. Gruesome indeed
Read the history of Middle Earth book Morgoth’s ring. Morgoth tainted everything, thus diminishing his power. Sauron concentrated his much more limited power into a object that could control a bunch of other powerful magical objects.
You forgot to mention celeborn. Galadriels husband of the Sindar. I know he is rarely important, but he attacked saurons vanguard before elrond arrived until both armies were pushed north. But he and elrond managed to rescue some survivors of Eregion.

Although we consider the corruption of the númenorians to be Sauron’s doing it is an often overlooked fact that the tale of Alderion and Erendis ultimately began the decline as Ancalime cared little for middle earth and therefore began the decline in elf-numenorian relationships. It would this culminate in Sauron’s arrival to Númenor
Tar-Ancalimë's son Tar-Anárion would restablish his grandfather's policies, and reconnect with the Elves. Leading to the assistance in the War of the Elves and Sauron, during the reign of Tar-Telperiën (the second ruling Queen). It was during the Númenorean's peak, where they were so powerful that Sauron's forces cowered before them, the origins of their downfall began to fester. While living long lives beyond the men of Middle-Earth, the Númenoreans began to grow jealous of the Elves' immortality and became more grasping of life, which ironically shortened their lifespan. This was what Sauron capitalised on, after he surrendered and was taken to Númenor.
It’s more like the time of Aldarion and Erendis set the stage for the decline to set in, but did not itself start the process. Disregarding that, Sauron’s supposed corruption merely amounted to an aesthetic change that ripped off the veneer of “good, Eru-fearing Edain” for all but a select few. Naturally, Sauron did the only sensible thing with them and encouraged their countrymen to give em the ole Jimmy Raven.
The decline really began with Tar-Ciryatur who became greedy and sought to extract wealth from Middle Earth. It became apparent with Tar-Atanamir who started questioning the ban of the Valar.

The woodland realm just minded their own business while all this fiasco was happening. maybe the sindar were not given a ring of power. that's why they pissed off and never sent aid.
If I remember correctly, it was said the Sindar were occupied with defending themselves. This war was partially a victory for Sauron in that, outside of Eriador, he now threatened all remaining free peoples who had previously been out of Mordor’s reach. That development set the stage for the Northmen who would later become the Dalish, Lake-men, and Rohirrim to ally themselves so closely with the Longbeard dwarves.
Man, such might and majesty did the Numenoreans had. It was right that the elves refer to them as high men. Its really heart breaking about how they were portrayed in thw rings of power show compared to how they actually were
Here I disagree. The Numenorians in the Show are so far not as bad as the Numorians had become even before Sauron set foot on their shores. While for a time they were friendly towards the people of Middle Earth, there was always a racist undertone in that relationship (with the terms high and middle or lower men), and in later years they demanded tribute and service and were not friendly teachers. Anyone who is interested, should read "Aldarion and Erendis: The Mariner's Wife" from Unfinished Tales. There is a lot if detail that couldn't be explained here. Many in Númenor saw Aldarion's voyages as frivolous pursuits, that distracted his responsibilities to the Númenor and his already troubled marriage with Erendis. Then, when Aldarion's father, Tar-Meneldur received the letter from Gil-galad stating how his son's voyages gave hope to Elves in Middle-Earth against the rise of Sauron. Soon afterwards, Tar-Meneldur would surrender the sceptre to Aldarion, making him the next King of Númenor.
You forgot that Celeborn attacked the enemy before they reached Eregion and failed. He led the survivor warriors of Eregion to Elrond forces and retreated to Imladris. You forgot that it wasn’t just Dwarves that attacked the rear of Sauron but the Elves of Lothorien as well led by Prince Amroth
My favorite part of the Second Age was when Galadriel told Sauron "THERE'S A TEMPEST IN ME" and he shrank back in fear from the female warrior and leader of the Northern Armies
@@richardthomas9497 Even Umbar at one point held greater power than Gondor, so much so it was not until the early Third Age that Gondor eclipsed it, which just goes to show how mighty its mere colonies were.
Sauron here shows how he is a much more devious and craftier dark Lord, than Morgoth. As although he does rely on brute strength when necessary, stealth, deception and manipulation are just as much as part of his arsenal especially when it came to facilitating the construction of the rings and the downfall of Numenor.
So a quick thing to note- Celeborn did NOT accompany Galadriel to Lothlorien initially when Celebrimbor did his soft coup against Galadriel in Ost-in-Edhil because Galadriel intended to travel through Khazad-dum to get there because of her friendship with the Dwarves but Celeborn, who blamed all Dwarves for the death of Elu Thingol, refused to accompany his wife through the realm of the Dwarves, though the two would be reunited later.
I think the Numenorean armor from the Last Alliance in PJ's trilogy needs to be added in the series aside from the Citadel Guard-type armor, designate it as standard issue grunt armor, and during the Great Armanent, the helmet must be the Karma or John Howe's Black Numenorean helmets instead of the winged helmets of the Last Alliance or the War of Elves and Sauron, or better yet, the Numenorean Civil War.
Sauron really hadn't recovered all the rings by the time of the fall of Eregion. He didn't get Thrór's ring until TA 2845 - about 4640 years later. And he didn't get some of the other dwarven rings at all, as they were destroyed by dragon fire.
If you want to get a sense of the Numenorian power, imagine a 100K army of Aragorns. As we will see, Sauron had no chance of defeating Numenor militarily.
an army of gigantic Aragorns, all of them wearing fine armor and weapons, including steel bows. I can imagine the random orc soldier'reaction watching these human behemoths advancing toward him ...
@frederiquelorimier8286 they flee lol That's why when Pharazon lands, the armies of Sauron flee and hide, even with the Ring on Sauron's hand. No army can match them

Not to open the wounds left on us from the Rings of Power, but I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the Second Age more in depth as Tolkien created it. You also probably gave us an idea of what is to come in the second season of the Rings of Power, however, I'm certain you'll create more interesting content than Amazon.
"You probably gave us an idea of what is to come in the Second Season of Rings of Power."😂😆🤣 Are you kidding?! They are continuing THEIR Second Age story, not Tolkien's. At the end of the series, Celebrimbor creates the Three Elven Rings. Where are the other 16?! They were made first. What will Amazon do about that?
Still pissed about how Rings of Power portrayed Celebrimbor as a retired elementary school art teacher who needed to be taught by Sauron the basics of the craft he has spent thousands of years perfecting.
Shame that the Rings of Power is such trash. The corruption of the mighty Numenoreans is one of Tolkiens most relevant stories to the modern age and should be translated properly to screen.
@@anni.68 It wasn't and won't be Tolkienian. Galadriel may have been a warrior type when she was young and living in Eldamar and maybe when she left her motivation was to be the ruler of her own Elven Realm. She fought off the Fëanorians from her cousins at Alqualondë. She likely fought in several of the skirmishes and wars in the very early Years of the Sun. What McCay and Payne did was they took early Galadriel, pre-Celeborn, and transposed her into the Second Age, so they could have a strong female character, single with no kids, who could fall in love with Halbrand. This is total blasphemy to those of us who honor Tolkien and his Legendarium.
In the end, it never mattered if Aldarion had gotten married or not because the true Line of Elros ran through Silmariën and Elendil. This should let us know that Eru had always intended rulership of Numenor to be handed down to the first born child. Maybe this is where evil started to creep into Numenorian society.🤔
Sauron is no way a replacement for Morgoth, He took over but if was anywhere near a powerful as Morgoth the Valar would have come for him. Tulkas would have come and Sauron would have fled as he did as before.
Ahh the story we deserved but we got that crap of the rings of power. It’s literally impossible to fix. The Fahd deserved to see Sauron as Annatar not that bozo of a human that we saw
This is the part of middle earth lore that the Amazon show "Rings of power" is making a fan fiction of. Honestly tho, if they didn't have the liscensing or W/E you need to be allowed too make a proper show, why didn't Amazon make a show that takes place in Harad and and Rhun, or even the Dark lands, there is very little information lore vise about those places, they could have even made a story around the blue wizards and their journey.
@resileaf9501 I don't think this is, after watching the whole thing bit watch the video "Thr Dragon Reborn" by this person and tell me it's not. Or at least the script isn't.
@resileaf9501 not completely, but when it was, it was obvious. For instance, on a different WoT video they mention Moiraine, a member of the Blue Ajah. However, after using her name once, the narrator proceeds to call her by "blue ajah". Not "the blue ajah member does this" but literally "Then, Blue Ajah did this..". However, she gets mentioned by name once more before it becomes Blue Ajah again 2. The Dark One was named the "Black One" then called Dark One again. 3. Multiple easily pronounced words are mispronounced, sometimes in different ways each times it was said. It was actually eye opening watching it.
Great videos! Where did you guys find the troop numbers for Sauron and the Numenorians?
They guessed. They embellished.😂
Sauron is the deceiver! Sauron is obsessed! When his obsession becomes you or your downfall..you won't survive.
Absolutely continue this series
I imagine Sauron skedaddling away from the forces of the Valar while yakety sax plays in the background Benny Hill style..
Great stuff lately bro awesome channel big fan!!
My favorite part of the Second Age was when Galadriel told Sauron "THERE'S A TEMPEST IN ME" and he shrank back in fear from the female warrior and leader of the Northern Armies
Numenorians were so badass.
Shame they became so corrupted that they went from being badasses to bad asses.
Even the Realms of Exile; Arnor and Gondor's height of power, was only a fraction of Númenor's.
indeed
@@richardthomas9497
@@richardthomas9497 Even Umbar at one point held greater power than Gondor, so much so it was not until the early Third Age that Gondor eclipsed it, which just goes to show how mighty its mere colonies were.
Nah, they're nothing compared to Men from the first age.
Damn, the Dunedain really fumbled Numenor. Fr fr.
Great video as always! Where did you get the numbers for the armies of Sauron and the Numenorians during the war??
Thanks for another terrific video! 😎🧝♀🧙♂⚔👏
Sauron here shows how he is a much more devious and craftier dark
Lord, than Morgoth. As although he does rely on brute strength when necessary, stealth, deception and manipulation are just as much as part of his arsenal especially when it came to facilitating the construction of the rings and the downfall of Numenor.
Interesting summary of the start of the age.
Love your content 😊😊😊❤❤❤
@frederiquelorimier8286 they flee lol
That's why when Pharazon lands, the armies of Sauron flee and hide, even with the Ring on Sauron's hand. No army can match them
First age men were extremely superior.
I love this channel
I love your animations and narration, in what program you make map animations with units etc? so cool
Hey when will you finish the Mongol invasion of Europe series ???????
Love the LOTR universe content!
6:08 Ollie 😂
I guess that's why Elrond, was kinder to the dwarves than other Elves 🧝🏻♀️ 🧝🏻♂️🧝🏼♂️🧝🏼♀️they literally saved his life.
I thought Sauron didn’t have all the rings (except for the Elven three) until he captured Thrain and took his ring when he was imprisoned in Dol Guldur?
You do it better than T.V series ma men , keep it up please your take is defenitly a must see
Do you think Devin will ever notice that the word "dwarves" has a "w" in it?
A+ video title tbh
Video starts at 2:40
Great video!
The idea a maiar sauron was 1% of the scale of melkor is silly
I think you shouldn't use the Amazon version of the Numenorean ships until Sauron's arrival to Numenor.
Its almost unbelievable how much the rings of power series has changed.
@@anni.68 galadriel was supposed to be in her forest kingdom ruling with her husband. she shouldnt even be present to talk with celebrimbor and sauron in the forges. moreover, the show says that her husband had been lost and never found. so basically, how would he rule lothlorien with her during that period? again, we just saw sauron remake mordor with some sort of volcano nuke while this says he took control of mordor before ever meeting celebrimbor as anatar. and then they removed his name as Anatar entirely.
@@anni.68 I havent read the books, so i dont actually know when galadriel leaves eregion for Moria. I just saw that in the video he mentioned the event way before Anatar came in there. Even then, you say she left without celeborn. In the show, we see celeborn has been missing since the start of the show. that doesnt add up either. Do the books mention when he was found?
Mordor was there, but we see nothing of the "control" of sauron as the video speaks off. In fact, until the volcano exploded, the numenorean expedition had the mordor army on the run. and mount doom was supposed to be the work of melkor, not some random dark elf general.
@@anni.68LMAO, basically everything prior to the creation of the rings, skipping thousands of years of history, having characters in a period where they shouldnt exist etcm
@@anni.68 Sauron doesn't set foot on numenor until he is taken to the island by the Numenoreans after his defeat at the hands of Ar Pharazon, and both he and Míriel wouldn't be born for hundreds of years when the rings were made and yet Pharazon by the looks of his hair is at least 100 in the show
@@anni.68
First of all, we never learn anything about what happened to Celeborn in TRoP. I remember hearing somewhere that Galadriel was single during the first season and would meet and marry Celeborn in a later season episode.
Thank you!
Great stuff 🧝♂️
Never a miss, even fantasy damnnnnnnn
how do the small flags atop the ship's masts at the end of the video fly against the direction in which the boats are sailing?
Art not science?
I just wanted to say i watch your videos when i workout everyday. At the end when i have to push myself to go on the bike for 30 mins your videos help me get through it cause I just focus on the videos and i love them. I remember before you guys did dragon age videos i mentioned that you should do those as well. For another setting for videos maybe you could do gothic or spellforce or halo. Maybe that will hit another section of viewers too.
Based Numenor, common man W
He did not replace Margot’s. He succeeded him.
Comment for the algorithm
Awesome
Not to open the wounds left on us from the Rings of Power, but I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the Second Age more in depth as Tolkien created it. You also probably gave us an idea of what is to come in the second season of the Rings of Power, however, I'm certain you'll create more interesting content than Amazon.
"You probably gave us an idea of what is to come in the Second Season of Rings of Power."😂😆🤣
Are you kidding?!
Plus the actor was way too old for the part, though he did a pretty good job of acting the lousy role he was cast in.
and that horrible dressing gown he had to wear. I remember my late grandmother having a dressing gown quite like that in the early 70's ....
@@frederiquelorimier8286
He DID look like someone's grandma!😆🤣😂
>tfw Shadow of Mordor portrayed Celebrimbor's physical appearance more accurately than the RoP slop.
I knew it Sauran is DA CUNNING prophet of Mork
Sauron is like Himmler or Beria took power
Shame that the Rings of Power is such trash. The corruption of the mighty Numenoreans is one of Tolkiens most relevant stories to the modern age and should be translated properly to screen.
@anni.68 and they will likely be as terrible and capture none of the brilliance or nuance of Tolkiens story.
Literally nothing was like tolkien intended it to be, what are you smoking
@@anni.68
And the decline and fall of Prime Video.🤪
@@anni.68
7/10? I guess you are a 4th wave feminist. Girl bosses are not Tolkienian.
@@anni.68
It wasn't and won't be Tolkienian.
The early years of the first age?
Yeah I noticed that too😅
In the end, it never mattered if Aldarion had gotten married or not because the true Line of Elros ran through Silmariën and Elendil.
Hmm 🤔
Actual Tolkien lore, unsurprisingly, makes the Ring of Power adaptation seems to come from grade school writers.
For morgoth
As a Numenorean myself I've never been prouder
sauron is no morgoth lol, thats like a level 10 evil spirit vs Lucifer himself, MOrgoth had balrogs, Dragons
Its pronounced "OWL LEY" (Aule)
Sauron did not replace Morgoth. Sauron was no where near the evil that Morgoth was.
Morgoth is actually alive. Sauron? Not.
It's pronounced Lefftenant.
And AMAZON absolutely butchered this story with their Rings of Power show
Ahh the story we deserved but we got that crap of the rings of power. It’s literally impossible to fix. The Fahd deserved to see Sauron as Annatar not that bozo of a human that we saw
Halbrand replaced Annatar.🙄
This is exactly what the series should’ve been about, but failed miserably.
History and lore channels need to stop using the term 'documentary' where it doesn't apply
So is this on AI generated too or does it change due to ad? It sounded much more realistic than the Wheel of Time ones
If you mean the voice, it's an actual person talking, not an AI
Why would you think the narrator is AI?
@resileaf9501 I don't think this is, after watching the whole thing bit watch the video "Thr Dragon Reborn" by this person and tell me it's not. Or at least the script isn't.
@@TikkiNikki Was it completely inaccurate?
@resileaf9501 not completely, but when it was, it was obvious.
For instance, on a different WoT video they mention Moiraine, a member of the Blue Ajah. However, after using her name once, the narrator proceeds to call her by "blue ajah". Not "the blue ajah member does this" but literally "Then, Blue Ajah did this..". However, she gets mentioned by name once more before it becomes Blue Ajah again
2. The Dark One was named the "Black One" then called Dark One again.
3. Multiple easily pronounced words are mispronounced, sometimes in different ways each times it was said.
It was actually eye opening watching it. Also, the pictures used in the videos were AI generated
Watching this video made me even more upset about Rings of Power then I already was
😂
Numenorians are basically British people.
When does Trump get dropped into Orodruin?
If you got beaten by a Dog. Don't ever compare yourself to Morgoth.
I love ur content... but that voice is jarring!😖
