Why would I care about what anyone else thinks of my collection? It's my collection. No point buying stuff I have zero attachment to because it's popular.
I believe that this video doesn't just target people that collect manga, but for anyone who has a collection of their own that they want to build up. like you said 'it's up to you'
I prefer manga because they're more time saving and the original thoughts of the author. Something like demon slayer works better as an anime than the manga in my opinion. An anime like jujutsu kaisen or my hero academia makes the manga more enjoyable afterwards. I'm with you there

beside reading manga for healing after your rough day at work, sometimes doing manga haul makes ppl like me feel's like it was sooo good feeling, yet i know i will read it later tho for sure. But hey your word's it true in the end either someone just do manga haul or they buy each vol and read it, it's their own money after all, sometime i feel's the toxic isn't came from people that do the manga haul or reviewing manga, but it came from people that i would say "their just start to collecting manga and then they can't catch up to buy many vol with their money", as the result it'll occur some toxic comment on the community ^^

As a newbie ive only started as of last year during covid im collecting berserk and slam dunk i want to read only 1 series at a time its not easy collecting in Melbourne its expensive and all online basically plus shipping is awful but i say collect whatever you are interested in
Right now I'm reading and keeping up with the manga Beastars. REALLY enjoying that series! I also recently got Uzumaki by Junji Ito as a gift for Christmas. I'm new to manga collecting so I'm taking my time to discover what kind of genres I really enjoy as a reader. As of now, it's mainly just Shonens and or horror mangas/mysteries. What helps me is that I make list of mangas that I want to add to my collection along with comparing what kind of novel genres I enjoy which is Fantasy,Horror and mystery. So, I myself try to keep these factors in mind! Awesome video keep up the wonderful work! ^-^ I also make a list of manga that I WANT to add to my shelf in the future so I don't get too side tracked lol. =)
Ngl but as a manga collector, I'm often not the type to start buying the 1st volume of a series. One example I would say for me is a series that I'm currently collecting called "Kaguya-sama: Love is War", the volumes that I got first were volumes 19 & 22. Lmao that's all. 😅😅😅 I also collect the japanese texts mangas too. The reason why is because I already through the internet and I wanted to support the mangaka the most sincere way possible. I'm also still in the process of learning some japanese though. I mean hey. That's my way.

I stopped caring about others opinion on my manga/anime taste a long time ago, I just read and watch what I like, like I ain't gonna waste my time on a series just because it's highly acclaimed if I don't like it, I like odd shit like Discommunication to basic shit like Tokyo Ghoul or Highly acclaimed shit like Goodnight Pun Pun and even trashy shit like Highschool DxD, like everyone has their individual taste and they shouldn't try to box it up just because of people's opinions
