- The SeaSuite is a tiny aluminum houseboat with loads of windows, a large dinette with an electric table, an l-shaped galley, a comfy Queen-size bed, and a modern head (bathroom) with a porthole window in the shower. There's also loads of storage space built into every area in the boat. For exterior space, there is an adorable miniature front deck, an epic rooftop deck, and an outdoor navigation station. It's 26' long x 11'6" wide and weighs over 8,000 lbs.

Mark Philbrook has always had a close association with the sea. He comes from a family of boatbuilders (his father and grandfather started Philbrook Shipyards) and Mark was a liveaboard on an Erikson 39 sailboat for 16 years. He designed the SeaSuite and began construction in 2017. His wife Nadine helped with interior design, his friend Craig Toby helped with the build, and the aluminum welding was done by Mark Keeler. It's a fully certified Transport Canada boat.
The boat is insulated with 1" foam board and has 2 sources of heat: a Propex propane heater, and a radiant electric oil heater. It can be operated on the grid by plugging into 30-amp shore power and hooking up to municipal water, or it can be off-grid with freshwater storage bladders, a Separett urine diversion toilet, 520 watts of solar power, 4 x 6-volt deep cycle batteries, and a Propex propane heater.

They could possibly fix the weather helm problem with dagger boards located just forward of or at the stearn. Down while in the water or underway and up to tow or beach the boat.

Honestly incredible and I was thinking: How much cooler would that be with a PlayStation DualSense Controller? The haptics would let you know when you've hit a seal too.

This is perfect, I'd probably put a higher headboard on the bed to section off the bedroom area better
@Anthony Mburu Waweru My thought too as soon as I saw the layout. It seemed like an obvious feature. I was looking for the track in the "ceiling" for where they had had it stowed away.
The thought that went into this design is so thorough! One suggestion I would make is to get a Breville toaster oven as you can cook almost anything in it that you can a conventional oven, just smaller portions. Greater heat control and distribution than a regular toaster oven. Beautiful craft!
Loved it so much that I watched it 2x's!!! Brilliant storage ideas & ingenious methods employed (i.e. mini-plunger for lifting floor section)!!! The water bladder vs. tank & the electric table for ease of re-positioning was great! Thanks for this fantastic video!!!

That water bladder concept gave me the idea that if I had an RV with a leaky tank, I could simply put one of these inside the existing tank to save some money and effort.
They do rub holes eventually
@@zeusapollo8688 They're warranty is substantial. Additionally, these bladders are designed and manufactured with rough service in mind.
You'd have a very difficult time getting a bladder of any size in the existing openings of a rigid tank. Better to simply, quickly, easily and affordably plastic weld any crack on a rigid tank.
I used to cut the top of the tank off. This is marine use.
Might be baffles inside your tank bud

I ran across this video a year after it was posted ..I must say, I love this boat outside and inside ..it's basic and nicely designed and I would love to live in a boat like this year round..I live in Canada so I don't know if living on a boat year round is feasible but I love the water and have done a lot of boating in my life.

A great concept! You must have loads of fun in it. I love the remote control steering, I bet that turns a few heads! I also love the ‘proper’ bathroom, with separate shower, sink and toilet. Many larger boats have a ‘wet-room’ which is very annoying, having to dry the floor, after taking a shower, before using the other facilities!

Very cool design! The only thing that had me question it was steering with a remote control. Anyone ever have any problems with a remote control? I just don't think it's a good thing to rely on. It's a beautiful space though!

I think I would find a flat bottom a little limiting and scarry. Having toodled around the islands with winds, tide changes, ship and boat wash etc. Any thought of dual pontoon as an alternative without destroying what is good about your design? Cool project, many good ideas, thank you.

What a beautiful vacation home! The living quarters were elegant and well designed. The use of bladders as tanks could also be used for RVs (no solids). The inset reading lamps, pull out tables under bed, floor storage are ideas that can be, and have been, used in RVs too. I love boats, but too costly to maintain. I think I'll stick with RVs and the occasional kayak outing. But what a beautiful way to live. Every window is a painting with light and movement. Superb!

When I saw the first "box boat", I had commented on things I didn't find handy. This one is almost perfect. I do have problems with the "hardly any wind" comment. XD Love it.

This is absolutely brilliant. So simple (relatively speaking of course) yet is incredibly functional and absolutely makes the very best of the beauty and peace of the open water, when calm of course that is! I’m a big fan of the narrow boats in the UK having hired one last year for a few days and this reminds me of a similar but more open version! Love this thing. So many ingenious touches and design elements. A little bow thruster might be good insurance for the more windy days moving about tight spots at the marina.

As a shipbuilder you become aware that any vessel is a compromise a give and take, and having lived aboard for more than four years I congratulate you on a very nice compromise that checks many of the boxes. One question why not spray foam?
