As an army officers daughter who has lived at Kashmir border and seen insurgency and terrorist attacks with my eyes (and thankfully lived through that hell) I can tell you patriotism does not allow you to question. Real life is much more dangerous than these film scenes at world's most dangerous border.Taking the bullet is duty's call. I've seen my father not think abt us, his family when it was the question of the nation. You cannot imagine the rage I felt when I heard (everyday) of our soldiers deaths and the danger also looming over my father's life (Every single day for the tenure he was posted there) and my mother spending sleepless nights. This was in 2007 when mobile phones were not that prevalent. We had to rely on one call a week from Kashmir to be assured that my father was alive. All at the cost of Pakistan's state sponsored terrorism. The rage is justified. If not more incidents like 26/11will keep happening. Being an army man is a decision one has to take keeping in mind the morality/immorality of taking lives for the nation. One who questions cannot sustain army life.
You can imagine the toll it took on my 10 year old impressionable mind to notice such inhuman cruelty from our neighbours on my fellow countrymen (many of whom were my father's army colleagues and friendly uncle's for me with whom I had grown up).

The thing with this movie is that it is based on true a true event. It’s really tragic when you loose 19 UNARMED SLEEPING soldiers to a militant attack. The actors are portraying the elite forces of our country. The best of the best. And they were assigned to do this job. And we as Indians take pride in that. The reason why it all happened and it is said clearly in the trailer that India never started it but we will not stay quite if you kill 19 soldiers. The actors took trainer to portray those soldiers. And I don’t get why you are shocked to the girl being aggressive. She was an IB agent.
Anywat there are liads of things that you don’t know about the event. But i would like to say that patriotic movies are being made more and more because we as Indians have gone through a lot and it’s time to show our next generation to show and feel proud about it.

India has brutally murdered 500 people in Kashmir in the last year alone. This has sparked conflict in the region. When you threaten their lives they will retaliate. But India, especially the Modi government has scapegoated Pakistan for the conflict because unfortunately that is what earns them votes. Even the UN has recognized this as an indigenous struggle. However you people fail to see anything beyond the narrative being sold to you. All you are concerned about is one stupid dialogue.
Honestly patriotism is necessary. We have stayed quiet for far too long and let countries take advantage of the whole 'peace loving India'. When you live in a place where there hasn't been any attempt on your nations sovereignty or safety, you automatically become less patriotic, because you don't feel it is necessary and that's why I think you might feel it's a little too patriotic. But its natural to cultivate a sense of patriotism when you see almost every few weeks on the newspaper a terror attack near the border where innocent people die, or soldiers die, etc, which tends to be the case in the northern borders of India. This looks like a great movie. I know a few people will call this movie a nationalistic propaganda film by the right leaning parties of India, but it is still relevant and also necessary to have movies which tell the story of those brave men who guard our nations borders.
Totally agree with you. patriotism is very necessary for a nation like India which has been the target of Jihadis for long. The wire has published a article claiming it to be toxic nationalism etc. They are leftist / communists rags and pampleters spewing leftist propaganda. I hated Tiger Zinda Hai for the very reason that the move was parroting the Pakistani line that both should fight against terrorism together and all that nonsense instead of addressing the fact that Pakistani ISI were the creators / collaborators and nurturers of Jihadis and terrorists. When they started to go out of control Pakistan started saying that they are the victims of terror just like India and Bollywood just accepted their line instead of Indian security agencies which time and again have said ISI is responsible and helping the terrorists elements . Bollywood mostly wanted to show as if there is no difference between Pakistan and India and both are victims of terror instead of focusing on the truth as to who help the creation and nurturing of these Jihadi terrorists i.e Pakistan.
I agree wholeheartedly. Healthy dose of patriotism brings us together. But there should be checks and balances via political system so that it doesn’t go out of control and turn into fascism.

The reason for so many patriotic films in India is apart from 2 big terrorist attacks in last 4 years ( Uri and Pathankot), India faced so many terrorists attack in its history that sometimes you need this type of patriotism, nationalistic feelings just to uplift moral of the people after a terrorist attack or to assure people that we can prevail over evil and people have always used films, tv, dramas, literature as a tool in India. That's why you will find this type of films in India more because there has been so many terrorists attack in India. Not just terrorists attacks, India also used this entertainment industry to rouse patriotic feelings in India during India Pakistan war best example being 'Border' movie starring Sunny Deol. In fact it was so popular that even now tv channels telecast this films during Independence day and Republic day. There is a song in the movie. It's so iconic that people still play that song as a tribute to army. You should listen to that song. It's called 'Sandese aate hai' by Venus music
This movie is a perfectly balanced patriotic war movie with well-defined level of anger,fear, and other emotions. The acting of each and every character(special mention VICKY KAUSHAL) is as fabulous and real as it can be. The debutant director Aditya Dhar has given a masterpiece movie, his direction skills are damn so high. The VFX are so so awesome that every gunfight scene and bomb shelling will surely won't let u just sit back and watch, u will jumb of joy. The most important thing is the feeling of pride for our military and specially Para Special Forces which will give u hard shivering GOOSEBUMBS man !!! This movie is a MUST WATCH

We feel the patriotic all the time. These movies are being made now to enhance and experience what's allready there. It's Happening recently with Bollywood especially after there is strong patriotic govt at the Centre. PM Modi has brought lot of pride and nationalism to front and have motivated everyone to feel the same with his actions.
Patriotism in India is unfortunately misunderstood. The Armed forces are patriotic without a doubt. However, the common people find this feeling only in blindly believing that India is great! You'll find many comments here saying, "India is best and Indians are most patriotic" extravaganza. But these are the ones who believe that fighting wars (and winning cricket matches) is what defines patriotism. At the same time if they are asked to keep the country clean and volunteer to make the country better, they all turn their backs to it and want their own enjoyment of life. After all, we need to understand that Patriotism begins by understanding the real situation and then working on it. Not by blissfully ignoring the reality and celebrating past victories.

Pakistan army and the Pathan Lashkar were three days away from reaching the Kashmir capital fighting their way through Kashmir. Furthermore, another case can be compared based on this criterion the Princely States of Junagargh and Manvadar were ruled by a Muslim Nawab and he asked to join Pakistan but his Hindu populace who were in majority wanted to stay with India and so they did. The state of Hyderabad claimed independence too under the last Nizam of Hyderabad but Indian army launched operation Polo and took over his state by force. The city of Gurdaspur a border city with Pakistan had a Muslim majority but was forced to join India as the line was drawn on the map. Their are several more examples but the logic is simple know the history of division of India before you comment.
