I am glad for this 😊
great to see you back Omar and great to see another side to the island!
Thanks for watching!
Omar, great video!
In 1984 we stayed at the Lowe's Bermuda Beach that was on that location and I remember seeing the fort as the hotel property is kind of built around it .
During our past visits to the island, I have stopped by there and examined the remains along with finding a Geocache that was there.
I'm so glad they have cleaned up the area and opened it up for visits. Like I said, I went through there a handful of years ago, and you really had to watch your step because of all the debris.
We will be visiting Bermuda in early May and that will be our 10th visit . We will be staying at the reef for a couple of days then moving on to Saint Regis. do you want to get together for a cuppa coffee or lunch, it would be my honor and pleasure to meet you. Just wanted to put it out there. Thanks for what you do.!
Thanks for the kind words! And yeah, would love to link up and have a chat! Just shoot me a message on instagram or facebook! If you aren’t on social media I’ll send you my email
🐐
This is great! Loved the history lesson!
Thanks for watching!
Good to see you again Omar! I was getting concerned about you seeing as you haven’t posted a video in such a long time. Glad you’re back on, and thanks for the tour of “Fort Albert!”
Unfortunately, can't pay the bills with youtube revenue. Can barely buy groceries haha. Thanks for stopping by! Getting back into the swing so more to come!
@@OmarJames, I hear you loud and clear. This thing called “life” has a tendency to pull us in various directions! And it’s up to us to follow the right ones. Take care my brother, and all the best to you!
I love your channels ❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
Great video. I think a lot of these forts were actually to keep out the Spanish too!
There's a really good lecture on the history of forts in Bermuda @ ua-cam.com/video/G7HB16Wh4kk/v-deo.htmlsi=jWoTxEtDKgBBa_tP where I learned that the major fortifications were built during the early 1800s in response to the American Revolution after England lost their American colonies. England and Spain had a relatively good relationship at that time as they had allied against Napoleon's France. Not that you're wrong, just some interesting info!
Omar, this is intresting. I have been to St. Georges many times and the last three times I stayed there, I was there for 6 weeks and I walked around a lot and when walking to the beach, I saw what you showed at the end but always thought it was the remains of something, but never went to see. I have been to St. Catherines fort and aso the one in Hamilton, and I loved the one in Hamilton and the views and the moat. I have not been there for years and I wonder if it is still the same, because the last time it was there the moat was pretty well grown up. Having been to Bermuda 30 some times in my lifetime, I am about to come again which will probably be my last time but I will be coming by ship and it will probably be my last. The god thing is that we are only going to Bermuda and I will have nearly 3 days to meander around.
Is Fort Scar the one in Hamilton? I forget. If not, please tell me where it is if you don't mind. Joyce
Fort Scour is in Somerset. It’s really more of a park, to be honest but it has the most beautiful view. Fort Hamilton is a great visit too. Hope you have a great trip!
Nice! I’ve been there before 😊
Was it also a night club for the Holiday Inn that preceded Club Med?
I don’t know! It was always part of the property but I have no idea if the nightclub came before or during Club Med’s tenure. Good question. I’ll try to find out
@@OmarJames Either way, great to see it restored and opened to public visits.
I enjoyed watching 👀 this video 📹 and did you have to pay to visit the fort?
Visiting the fort is free!
@@OmarJames There was a guide in the fort and it was free anyway.
@Ahuntsicspotter wait let me explain: he is part of the st george’s foundation. Organizing a tour with them requires payment (not sure how much) but you can explore the fort yourself for free.
@@OmarJames I don't need a guide to visit the fort.
@Ahuntsicspotter then it’s all free, baby!
You can just yadda yadda war 😂
you can definitely yadda yadda war! 🤣🤣
