What chip board are you using to connect the pic 18 i cant find the purple one you use and if possible could you give me a full schematic to build this, ive been trying to build this for a few years and cant seem to find everything you used for the build please.
I have a phantom 2 set up as a line dropper “ fishing rig “. Of course with a separate radio running elrs. I just got a mini 2 and I’m looking forward to doing this. Well done and thank you
You could just tape a photodiode to the front light and turn the light on and off lol. No need to program a microcontroller. There are even tiny photodiode relay modules.
Thank you, I was thinking the same thing the entire time watching this. Or you could simply buy the dropper made for the mavic 2 that is triggered via photodiode that is placed over the drones led landing light. Modify it to fit the Mini 2 and extend the photodiode to the front led ( which is turned on and off via the drones remote) and wuahla... you didn't have to open the drone or make anything, just lightly modify a pre-made dropper then operates by the drone's remote.
The great thing about these hacks is that they can be found by clever people. The not so great thing is that the clever people publish them on widely distributed platforms thus bringing them to the attention of the people who will do all that they can to neutralize the clever hack. Don't be surprised if LED color control goes away.
Could you just use a mosfet say wired to just the green chip of the led to toggle an on function? Could also print in PP plastic to lose some weight? There is easy to use Formfutura PP out there now that is ultralight at .75g/cm3. More than 25% weight reduction over abs. Not a huge gain but maybe worth it when trying to push limits. Thanks for sharing the info with us. Wanna give it a try too.
Have you ever done any firmware decomp of the DJI firmware? There is a great github project for exporting and flashing dumps. Adding an acro mode to the firmware to replace the FPV mode would be such a cool project.
dude that is crazy shit right i there!! i got a new mini this week and this project look sick but i am afraid it is a little bit too complicated for me, i bought a similar kit for the mavic air 2 (because all the mini kit comes with controller) and im modifying the light sensor to fit the mini 2 front LED and control it from the app too :)
you know they sell air dropping accessories, they are pretty cheap and work by using a photodetector (light sensor) to trigger a servo motor, much better than wiring thing up and possibly damaging your drone.
You have complicated a simple matter . Drop when camera go to down. How ? simple opt-diode or hall sensor or ordynary switch like solid wire to contact. :)
brilliant job , just far to ocomplicated for us normal humans to do.. if i lived near you then you could do mine as your secend prototype.. i love the idea as it means you could dro psomething 2 miles away....
I'd imagine the 48 bit bitstream is the signal protocol for a WS2812B addressable LED, so there might be a lower power chip to decode this. Have a look at the WS2811
My electronic knowledge dates back to my EE classes in the late 70s. Understood a little. You are good. How about a parachute for the mini incase it runs into trouble?
I literally had idea what you were talking about !! All i saw was a brave man taking apart his dji mini 2- wouldnt dare myself 🤣and an invention to drop the next shipment into which prison you needed to!! Apart from that, im confused by it all 🤔🤣
Dude!! You're something smart. Thats crazy amazing. I don't understand electronics to this extent. Wanna do mine for me? 🤣 I just ordered a little deal but uses a remote. Your way seems a bit more ideal
güzel bir iş tebrik ederim. ancak cihazın garantisi açısından sıkıntı olabilirmi? (Congratulations on a good job. But could it be a problem in terms of device warranty?)
Unfortunately I can't seem to find that exact one anymore, but you could make it work with any of the common dc gear motors that are on eBay and similar sites
@@everettbradford thanks for responding! I'm definitely going to give this a shot soon, though I'll have to hack something up without the fancy custom PIC breakout board 👍😄
You could add a fire cracker dropper using an electric match held on by a cotton thread that burns off the lit fuse hence dropping it. If you do it could you add the moddified pick code that includes it thanks.
If this was about simply making a dropper that was operated long range via the remote, why not just buy the $40 mavic 2 air dropper that is triggered via the led landing lights and modify it to fit the Mini 2 and extend the photodiode to the front led ( which is turned on and off via the drones remote) and vuahla... you didn't have to open the drone or really make anything, just lightly modify a pre-made dropper. In reality I don't think they will ever make anything multifunctional that is triggered by multiple colored light source for this drone due to the fact that it would required equipment that is much heavier and bulkier than the drone is capable of lifting. Also there are MUCH simpler ways of transmitting multiple signals via the remote to the drone to operate other functions.
very nice can I mail mine to you lol... why can't I find any of these long range droppers for the mini 2. they make them for every other dji.. and it's a very popular one being sold at Costco.. ughh makes no sense skyhook
just run your batteries in parallel with positive to positive negative to negative and you have an extended life 40 minute + battery. DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for anything that may or may not happen but i know ive done this on a few other drones and boom double flight time.
nice! your video makes it look easy. I'd probably use a raspberry pico. You probably don't need the battery or could use a basic capacitor but better to be safe. You'll probably also need to add some disclaimers to your instructions
Im constantly stopping the video to read the parts but if you could just put a list and maybe a site for the parts i would appreciate it. Im going to build this.
Hello very impressive work!! That's exactly what I'm looking for :-) Is it possible to rewrite the program for an ESP32 or Arduino platform? Maybe someone tried... Best Regards
please, make a neat cover, and sell it. i want one 😂
Me too
I dont want one, I NEED ONE!
👆👆👆 What they said!! Even though the ones on the market are inexpensive, the reviews say they are terrible. I don’t want to even bother with them.
It would have to cost like 200$ for it to be worth his time…
What chip board are you using to connect the pic 18 i cant find the purple one you use and if possible could you give me a full schematic to build this, ive been trying to build this for a few years and cant seem to find everything you used for the build please.
Wow, this is seriously incredibly impressive!!!
I’m amazed at this. Extremely clever design and beautifully done!
"I opened up the cover..." Yep that's me out then.
That's some very good engineering. Well done! 🚀 I wish I had this kind of equipment... and some free time! ☺️
Wow! That's amazing! You lost me half way in, but I knew there must be a way to control a drop at distance with the rc. Very cool Thank You
This is genius! Good work. I will definitely be exploring this.
You can’t do this if you tried a million tries. He’s a nerd you’re a dweeb.
You could use this to place solar powered LoRaWAN repeaters in hard to reach places.
Underrated comment.
I did a similar project, but, I used a photosensor that is activated by turning on the front LED of the Mini 2.
Could you share your build?
I have a phantom 2 set up as a line dropper “ fishing rig “. Of course with a separate radio running elrs.
I just got a mini 2 and I’m looking forward to doing this. Well done and thank you
Damn it. My mini 1 can barely lift itself without warnings lol
You could just tape a photodiode to the front light and turn the light on and off lol. No need to program a microcontroller. There are even tiny photodiode relay modules.

@@chadmiller9450 are you talking about the airhook. seems to be the only dropper opperated by the drones remote
Mindblown. This aint diy friendly, this is savant level
Taking a fishing line with hook & bait out to where the fish are feeding, nice work.
"I turned the motor into a servo with a magnet and hall effect sensor"
Man that's such a brilliant solution.
The FAA wants to know your location.
Which wire gave constant 5v to the les when the drone was on? I’m trying to tap into that.
extremely impressive - at all levels
You're brilliant. I won't even try, but it was a pleasure to watch this.
I would buy this in a heartbeat, all the commercial droppers for the Mini 2 suck, please consider selling them!

Good point. Many people are not responsible, shown by traffic statistics/accidents.
with this method there could be a hanging triple/quadruple claw tipe grabber to rescue small objects from hard to reach places... like smaller drones
How much do you charge for this little add on?? Can we all just send our Mini2's to you for the install??

Did you end up building it, and maybe make a better solution?
Unfortunately ill still be sticking to the good old coat hanger egg dropper cause this is far to complicated for me but well done.🤙
Could you put a pdf to the wiring diagram and a parts list PLEASE? Great work on this one.

I said in the video that it's similar to that but much higher bit rate
@@everettbradford Ah sorry I missed that, was skimming through. A very nice project 👍
What about opening some landing legs landing directly on to a specific spot. Would be amazing to have a chargable dock station at some point.
Outstanding!

Really cool
This is great. 👍
Brilliant just brilliant👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Genius! Are working for DJI?
how heavy was the little car?
I would like to reproduce this. Do you have a parts list or wiring diagram of the module you added?
Great video.. Do you think the mini 2 can carry a Insta 360 camera below the craft? ... It weighs 150 gram.
I have tried it with DJI mini pocket mounted on top of the mini 2 with Gopro helmet mount, which has a extra payload of 175g. She lift off no problem.
How about a payload retrieval system? 🧐

You should optimize it and sell the module..
Salute! Genius!
nice job and thanks for sharing all code and information - idealist - love it
Hey can you make pinout diagram for the DJI mavic mini camera... So that we can use them as an individual component.
Thank you !

Brilliant.
Impressive!
Will this work for the mini SE?
Incredible Work 👍
btw - any interest to sell these? I personally need one but I could imagine a lot of folks would want to buy it.
Good job, wow
Where did you source the hardware, board? Etc
This is so much better I got a dropper for $15 on Amazon and it can't drop from very far making it useless
You can modify it to drop with the LEDs on the drone like he did, but saving the process of making the dropper
Can you do a battery mod tutorial? I love this and subscribed!
