Later that day he lost his ROV in the sky. Wishes he had his mavic to go retrieve it.
😂🍻
True fact, there are more airplanes in the ocean than there are submarines in the sky....
@@BigGunz357 actually true 😂
Its like the oppisite! :D
ROFL
A tip. Put reflective tape on your toys. we lose RC batteries at the flight field all the time can cant find them in the day. So you go back out a night with one of those deep spotting flash lights. It really works. great video BTW
That's a really good tip
@@felixkroeber4024 I couldn't agree more! I own a small sign shop and have lots of reflective vinyl!
I'm using this 😘
Great tip this
Great tip
there are more mavics in the water than gladiuses in the sky

Well obviously

Pause it and you can see
I saw it too. Where is this so i can go retrieve it
Yup, looks like it to me also! (watch in slo mo)
Yeap, saw it! Great eyes!!👀🐸
Youp ..looks like his Mavic
I would be straight in looking for it not waiting 6 months
+Mini Matt TV I dove in with 2 others when it first sunk. Came back around 2 weeks later with snorkel gear. Lastly was this. I'll do 1more attempt ✌
Dustin Dunnill ah, ok, I did think it was a bit odd you would leave it so long! Haha
That pool is huge too, lots of places for it to get lost. Just a shame they don’t float
Mini Matt TV same
Talmbout swiiiiiim
Mini Matt TV he got the mavic three reviewing as we speak
The controller for the sub looks like a Nintendo switch
I thought it was at first!
Actually I'm pretty sure he's using a controller normally for phone gaming and if I'm not mistaken the company that makes that tried to sue Nintendo claiming the switch was copying this controller
Yup indeed
9:59 is there a bird hahah
Wtf

“Buck fever” is when you’re deer hunting and everything you see looks like a set of antlers. Watching your video I experienced “mavic fever” where every leaf, branch and piece of debris looked like a prop, arm, skid pad etc
I hear you. I was having the same issue when searching for it. On the small phone screen and in the glare it was even worse. I think a large tablet and sunshade or hooking up goggles will be the way to go.
Sounds similar to "Pareidolia". Like the mind sees what it wants to. I honestly started seeing the Mavic everywhere, as well.
Drones for the WIN when hunting, Indians would love that.....(like giving one a gun for the first time) ...Sherriff would not lol.........
For real
newagetojo thank you for correcting that statement. I got it bad when I was a kid and still get it when I have hunted a buck really hard for multiple days and he finally shows up. But I can always get a handle on it after about a minute or so (now).
28:05 on the left. How did you miss? ((:
Bruh no. Go have a check on your eyes because it is clearly just some sticks.

Dustin Dunnill damn my bad really did look like it though but honestly you’ll go back it 2 years and it’ll be so obvious, just like when you loose keys and a phone just expensive 🤣
I will keep trying 🙂

he is right! it is there but half a second after the timestamp. it is very clearly there!
Awesome video, even though the results were not what you wanted. The lights on the ROV and the battery life were surprising! Would a tablet help with the FPV? Anyway, very enjoyable and interesting. 👍👍
Yes, I plan to retrofit a tablet and sunhood from now on. Easy to miss things on the small screen from the glare. That gopro is still there..lol

I lost a JYU Hornet and Runcam 2 due to my panic in resetting the "Home" location during a gust of wind. I searched trees in the neighborhood that blanket the area here in N. GA with my Phantom for many hours. As an afterthought I bought a locater, and RFID set thinking that would have helped me find it. 4 months later someone posted on our local "Neighbors" board a picture of the Hornet. It had been submerged in Lake Lanier for a few of those months. As the lake levels dropped in early summer it became visible, and that's when our good summation neighbor's boy found it on a hike. I don't think it would have helped with a locater being submerged. I replaced the $15.00 Body and it is still in service. I hope the same for your Mavic, but if not, look at the fun you have had looking for it! Great post!
I'm so glad you tried a search and rescue of the Mavic. It really brings home how hard search and rescue can be and how much the professionals need to do to be successful.
+Chris Hufnagel definitely more difficult than I had imagined 👍
where is that spot at? I live in Maui too
Commando trail
Yes finally after all these months.
+Big drone flyer77 lol. Yes, it's probably still there
Great video Dustin! I have been waiting for this one, very exciting but not the payoff I was hoping for. Now I need a excuse to buy the Gladius. I will be sure to share this one. And by the way I thought I saw the Mavic at one point, in the first half of the video.
24:17 Gold nugget? ;-)
He could have retrieved that and sold and claimed some money back from that drone
Hello Sir, just found your UA-cam channel today and I'm SO GLAD that I did! Amazing clean and informative content :) thank you for doing what you do! Subscribed and liked!
Ow nice! Thought you'd given up. I'm gonna get me a cup of tea and sit back for this one :)
Flew my mavic in to a waterfall a month ago and reached out to DJI, they responded right away and got all the info they needed and ended up sending me another one for free (It was on sport mode too.) If you haven't reached out to them yet I'd do that!
+BrendanMcMartin I'm glad you had a positive outcome Brendan. Unfortunately I did not. This Mavic drowned just prior to DJI updating to enable the pilot to throttle up to cancel landing. Ironically the DJI update was implemented a few days after the drowning about 6 months ago. I tried my hardest to plead my case but I must have got the wrong DJI customer service rep. They did not want to budge. I was pissed, especially after it was obvious the update was to solve the known "unable to cancel landing" issue which was why it drowned. The log they viewed even showed my full throttle up attempt a few seconds prior. I never believed the "DJI bad customer service" rumors until then 😡. Oh well.
Great vid as usual Dustin! pity you didnt find it this time, but the Gladius is awesome fun. Thanks for sharing
Been waiting for you to do this.
True Drone Reviews I think someone watched Dustin's video of the mavic crashing. Probably dove down and found it.
That's possible, never thought of that
If somebody already found it, never mind the fame & fortune, think about the _integrity_ that returning it to him would represent.
If you found it and want to do your soul some good, turn it in. Anonymously is fine.
Are you going to do a depth test in the ocean?
+Nic Nolan Absolutely. Need to get out on a boat though.
8:50 right hand side, right of the the three similar sized larger rocks. There is an object with 4 arms and a rectangle body. Might be the mavic.

Nah
Yah that’s it
The mavic series doesn’t have legs like phantom series so it’s not it
Great video, sorry you didn’t find your Mavic. The pond doesn’t seem that big and you have the submersible now so I’ll guess you’re going to keep trying? Good luck and please keep us posted. Take care and safe flying. Peter.
Dang! Was hopeing U found it. Was also wondering about that BONE! At lease U didn't give up tho. Mahaloz! 4 the footage.
+kali urayanza yah that bone was freaky with the big prawn feeding on the marrow inside...human femur?
26:19 bottom right of the screen.
Dwayne H looks like it but it also looks like a rock lol
With the green water I was going to suggest a mid-magenta filter but given the levels of sediment I doubt it would make a big difference.
The Gladius performed really well and I am even more impressed
Awesome! Amazing lighting at 20' down. I'd keep trying, it would be epic to find it.
Been waiting for this episode😊😃
Thanks for hanging in there. I think I'm going to do more river treasure hunting from now on with it and make more vids of my findings at different areas :)
Dustin Dunnill can't wait 👍
Everything looks like a mavic under there lol
Yes it's Mavic fever 😂
Wish you coulda found your Mavic, but it made for another awesome video!! 😁
Though you have given up “Finding Mavic”
Looking forward to your coming episode to find Mavic
24:54 bottom middle is a prop?
I really like this mysterious like video's.Hope one day you will look out for your lost Parrot Disco too.It can be an adventure.
That ROV is sweet might check into getting one and just have fun
Dustin which underwater drone are you recommending? I thought I was going to get the PowerRay but the Gladius looks more stable and seems to have better footage. Your thoughts/recommendations?
Hey Dan. They're all fairly first generation at the moment and all have a wide variety of strengths and weaknesses. I can't recommend one that does everything perfect from what I've tested but I will say... the QySea Fifish P3 has the best camera and lighting and direct reliable cable connection but is the largest and heaviest of the bunch. The PowerRay has got the best software and finish/optional add-ons. These 2 having a single vertical motor suffer in stability but the P3 being heavier seems to be more stabilized. The Gladius is definitely the most maneuverable but since the verticle motors are more forward it's a different type of control than the others that have a centered verticle motor (a real bonus to have pitch capabilities but you can't get a smooth forward shot while keeping the sub still and ascending/descending). The subs that connect wirelessly seem to still have glitches (the PowerRay being the most stable wireless connection). So still room for improvement but you get what you pay for. Ultimately having more motors verically is the best for stabily and control but keeping the price down to compete with the others while still including awesome features will be challenging. The consumer sub market is ripe for potential ☺️👍
Thanks for the awesome reply! I know there is a number of these ROV's all hitting the market at the same time (and more on the way.) I have a freshwater reef filming project coming-up and have just been looking at the best option for getting those underwater shots. Did your Wifi issues with the Gladius get better? I'm wondering if these companies are going to keep up with FW updates to resolve many of the early bugs.
A V2 Gladius is arriving soon. Supposedly they've improved wifi connection, it now has a flat lens with filter hookup and a few more improvements.
17:03 theres the glof ball i lost
I think that prawn has claimed it

Your GoPro is in the middle of the screen at 32:11 No Problem!😀
Yes, that's why I put the clip in with the wording on screen. It's not mine. Someone must have lost it. this pool is known to be visited by many tourists. I didn't see it on my phone screen while piloting it so it's still there underwater.
I was expecting to see more gopro's on the vid.. People loose those things like crazy.
Thats right! And so much more in the water like sunglasses
Would be neat to get it and see what is recorded on it lol
Dustin Dunnill go back and get it
Love ur vids man, keep em up
Still pretty cool... nice review.... would like to see more
I think i see it at 27.11 comes into view at top center then it goes to the left side of screen? I'm seeing a grey blob with arms sticking out. Lol. Check video. I could be wrong. Anyway thx so much i freaking love your location and videos so much. I live in South Philadelphia so i barely see a tree let along the beautiful senery you have there in Hawaii. WOW! It's a dream of mine to go there some day. Now that I'm down 200lbs that dream OF MINE just may come true some day soon. Thx so much my friend.
Michael
+DiciurcioCabinets MDiciurcio Thanks Michael. That very well could have been it but it's hard to tell. I'll have to go back and just concentrate on combing the entire bottom now that I have the feel for best technique here. Hope you can get out to Hawaii sometime and enjoy it 🤙
Easy to relocate, it's next to that crayfish!
Hello Dustin, please find the mavic, really want to see the water impact. And try ro bring it back to life....it is possible.
DiciurcioCabinets MDiciurcio that's definitely it. But to me it's like the upper left corner.
Yeah that has to be it
This is why it helps to put reflective tape all over drones. Easy to find with light reflecting off it....
Nice to see a real mission! Hope you find yor quad next time!
Great video! Was very informative and entertaining to watch. Awesome. I noticed when I went back to watch your video of when the Mavic fell in the water, it looked like to me from the orientation of the angle of the camera footage it looked when the drone went into the water it appeared to hit the water a little "left" of center of the waterfall entry point. At least from the camera angle anyway. So maybe the next time you go out there to search, you might want to try searching a little more on the left side. But again, great video very awesome to watch. Thanks for sharing!
It looked like there were bones down there. The crayfish looked as though it was eating at the marrow of one of them....
Thanks for the video bro, Love your channel and its come a long way... Keep up the good work, because cable TV sucks...
Thanks John!
Crawdads at end cool
love the ROV , wish I could find one in our country
a metal detector probably could of helped. or how about a very strong large magnet?
I was skipping ahead when I noticed the GoPro, You didn't say anything so I went back and then noticed your caption. A few seconds later there it was at 32:11. I've done a lot of underwater searching in various capacities. it's not possible to know which way your're going underwater. A fishing float attached to the ROV would help you to know where you are. A diver in black water will tend to swim in circles since one leg (fins) is always stronger than another. The first time I did some black water diving my instructor was laughing about my circles when I came out of the water. I didn't find anything that day. If you were to try again using the fishing float it would be good if you could attach a lead weight and release it where you find what you're looking for. Even if you'd found the Mavic and brought the ROV back to install your hook you might not have been able to get back to the location of the find in order to hook it. One last thing. When something goes into the water it will generally be withing a circle of three or four feet regardless of the final depth. I've had people come out in a boat with instructions to go to the exact place they'd been. Obviously they can't find the exact place without a GPS but their intuition will probably get them close to the point something had been lost. In my experience, well over forty years, I've had the most success knowing where something is by knowing the point at which it entered the water. My first time with SCUBA tank on my back was in 1958 when I was 12. In the mid 90s I became an instructor and got cave diver certified. I've worked with the police, recovering cars and raising sunken equipment. I'm 73 now and still climb radio towers professionally. My last dives to date were in 2013 in the Florida Keys. My business keeps me from traveling but I still fly airplanes. My tower channel is ua-cam.com/users/jhettish if you're interested. John
You can know where you are heading under water . Since the 90s there have been underwater dive compasses . Digital ones should not be as pricey today.
Dang, Dustin, you have some really cool technology toys to play with!
Hey Braddah great video as usual. I own a Mavic(purchased after watching your Mavic videos) and I was sitting on the edge of my couch hoping you would find it. Looking forward to more videos!
+russ right on. Thanks Russ 🤙
The mavic is at 27:12 to the far top left you can see the the gimmble and outline of mavic pro
I will check it out! Thanks 👍
That has been spotted before. Looks like a grey rock someone threw in from shore to me. Thanks for the heads up though 👍
Dustin Dunnill nah thats it because its the four legs and props you got to zoom directly at it and its there.but why bother its already been over a year!!
The video many subs have been waiting for.
Sorry you didn't recover her.
+Drone On I'll be doing a few more attempts like this and also start doing regular "river treasure hunts" and explorations 👍
Geraldo Rivera called, he says "great video!" :)
Fantastic... sorry you didn't find the drone, but you've definitely shown me that this unit can add to scientific observations with even more minimal intrusion and diving there in person. You could actually see and measure the bottom water stratification in the deeper sections.
Dustin, you're on Maui, right? How about I kick in some dollars so you can take a few of these drones out into the deep water? I'm willing to pay for your time, because I have to find the right drone to perform my survey. I could help set up a charter boat to take you offshore. I have some really good friends that have lived on Maui for over 30 years now. I'm sure we could set something up if you have the time.
I thought you should have started at the waterfall, with the back of the Gladius back up against where the water was falling, and proceeded to sweep back and forth towards you. As I recall, the Mavic went in when its props hit the waterfall, so that would be a good spot to start from. Don't recall that you were carrying a GoPro when flying the Mavic .. that would be kind of redundant, since the Mavic is capable of 4K video. If this is freshwater, and you do find it, you may be able to revive it .. its only salt water that screws up everything. You were right .. pretty murky down there, with lots of sediment. Its going to be tough to find .. at best .. but I think its worth another shot, now that you have a bit of experience "on site". Don't often watch 40 min. UA-cam videos, but this one was very compelling and interesting. Mahalo!
The mavic went down where I mentioned it did several times in the video, about 20 feet from the waterfall. The gopro was not mine but was spotted when reviewing and editing the onboard footage at home so it's still there at the pool underwater. I will go back for another shot and be a bit more methodical about a search pattern.
Hey Dustin, I saw the Go Pro at 32:11. It is under the orange fruit looking thing, before the scene with the shrimp walking on the log. I hope this helps you in your search.
He know that why het put text there saying he saw it 🤣 stupid
Can you add a little buoyancy to keep it from dragging or dropping so hard ?
I WANT ONE NOW!!!!! This video is freakin AWESOME!!!
Im sure it was on 34:00 exactly where the camera is facing.. because there is an accident prawn area sign
🤣🤣🤣

+CARL GRAY Sorry for your loss Carl. It really is gut wrenching when it happens 🍻
CARL GRAY where?
+Jacks Videos I will try
Carl, where abouts did you lose it? Underwater search stuff is my kinda thing. If you were, by chance, close to me I could easily help you out :)
Where did you lose it?
Nice vid. I was wandering how well it would do. Nice.
How did you lose your Mavic? pilot error or Mavic fault?
Both. It was 3 days before the update which allowed landing cancel with throttle. Now they've updated to push up on throttle to cancel the landing. When mine went down, I was full throttle up and it still landed in water. DJI said it was my fault even though they inspected the flight log showing my attempt to throttle up 😡😲😔😂
26:21 it’s on the right side clearly

Its rock again
Clearly you’re wrong
sorry i didn' watch all your videos but didi you lost your mavick pro

Wow. That is a very beautiful pond.
Another cool video - thanks again!

Took me 63 hrs to notice
Being a Mavic 2 Zoom owner I like the idea of your hook for this ROV...Hopefully mine never ends up in the water lol
This was so cool to see

This video should have millions of views
+Wuzzapy maybe it will if viewers can share it around 👍
Really good footage Dustin, I think you will eventually find it if you keep looking.
+Gregory Hall thanks Gregory. I haven't given up yet 👍
Great video...Definitely need to go back now that you know the GoPro is there. Seems like the Mavic should be pretty near to the GoPro. Good luck and thanks for sharing. This is by far the best thing I've watched on TV all week!
Thanks. I'll get back for another look :)
Good attempt bro, plug up the water fall to stop the flow, lol.I think if the water was still it would of been a lot less murky that would of given you a better chance to recover it.I know this isn't the end I know you will eventually get it because you never give up.
If noone has found it yet i think i saw it at 25:32
+Marcus Pedersen I don't see it there but thanks for checking 👍
Great video. Always enjoy watching your stuff! Great looking family as well.
Thanks going back with a few different subs to search 👍
Dustin Dunnill I’ll be watching! I hope you are able to rescue the Mavic. Be sweet if you could actually salvage it. Never no. I had crashed one of my self built S500 drones into our farm pond and retrieved it a few days later and let her dry for a few days and wouldn’t you no it she actually fired right up!! I didn’t continue flying her like this though because of possible damage to ESC’s and possibly flight controller. I ended up replacing all the components eventually. It still amazed me it fired right up after that though.
Again hope you find and be safe my friend 😁
Man, Im going to save up for the Gladius. Seems super fun.
+Carnage 808 👍
Upper Right you will see the GoPro
Start looking for the Disco too :-)
Good lord Dustin, I remember my first sub. It came from a Kellogg's? box offer. I had to eat so many boxes of cereal (the dog helped) to get the proof of purchase flaps off of the top and mail them in. Well, my mom did anyway, she had the stamps and envelope. I waited for what seemed like an eternity just to put a teaspoon of baking soda in it, run the tub full of water, watch it sink to the bottom and float back up to the top! Man, those were the days lol! Times have changed bud, times have changed. I think sea monkeys might have been next on the list. . . Much luck on your search and rescue endeavors!!
+monkfry lol thanks for the story. Things were simple back then and we were still so entertained 👍
Yep, the future's not so bad. Except for the 3D printer going all spaghetti when you're asleep or losing our drones lol. Some serious cash going off the radar though. Hope you recover both of them!
The controller look like a Nintendo switch lmaooooo awesome dude!
:(hope you find it...
32:23 awsome water animal
19:17 what was that in the ditch?
I have difficulties sometimes finding my drone when it lands over a hill or anywhere out of sight. Finding stuff underwater is just insane. Good luck finding it.
+James right. I will try again sometime 😂
Hi Dustin, shame you didn't find your mavic, have you ever thought about getting a magnet they sell them on amazon and attach it to something, you could of got that gopro camera in your video, just a thought for you to try...great video as always glad to see there wasn't any crashing involved in this video, keep up the great work.
+RC Andy Great idea. It would have to be a high powered magnet and would need to be in camera view. You've got me thinking MacGyver style 👍
This was going to be my suggestion but wanted to go through the comments to see if someone suggested it. I used to be a seasonal ranger at a state park, and have used a magnet to retrieve things lost in the lake, or purposely thrown into liquid containers. I have had pretty good luck getting things back. I say liquid containers, because I responded on a man and woman arguing at one of our boat ramps. Turned out both were drunk, woman got pissed because her boyfriend was hitting on another woman on the boat, so she threw his car keys into a pit toilet vault. I went to my campsite, as we were camp hosts during the summer, and got my magnet, which is tied in a polymer rope 40 ft long. Took it back to the toilet, and found the keys within 10 mins. I made the couple clean my magnet and rope, then took it back to my campsite and put it in a tote, filled it with a gallon of bleach and then put water in until it covered the rope. By the time I did that, they had settled down and made up, and went back on the rope. Unfortunately, he didn’t listen to my warning not to drive until the next morning from the lake, and got arrested by the next shift.
17:01 look at the size of that crayfish
Great video, and wow I could of watched you searching for hours it was so interesting to see the bottom and lookout for tell tail signs of the mavics shape I'm sure it would still be in one of those nooks and crannies, I think only a scuba diver would be able to search for it if someone was trying to find it, I'm really curious to see what was down by the big logs/fallen trees as chances are it's drifted down there. Can't wait to see the next search video if you do another and as always it's a thumbs up from me
Cool video man ! 👍😎
take the gopro back, then upload the last vid, redo this, you might find the mavic next time
I'll go back for another look and try to also retrieve that gopro if it's still there.
Dustin Dunnill nice, dont forget to record 👍
Wait ? You lost a Mavic and a Gopro ???
I saw it in the 15:06 min you just passed it, you can see the propellers clearly
That might be it and the moss has over grown it
The little water beastie told all his buddies he saw a ufo 😮😅
Your mavic pro is lost in that water waiting for you... but don't worry even if it is not working Even if you can't find it and it is lost forever it's memories is always alive with you. The scenery you captured with it is always Be with you and never be forgotten. Rest in peace mavic pro. We always remember you forever 😇
