- Investigators believe they have recovered the body of Shanann Watts, a pregnant mother from Frederick who was reported missing with her two young daughters.
Her husband, Chris Watts, was arrested and is being held on suspicion of three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of tampering with a deceased human body.
A law enforcement source told 9Wants to Know that Chris Watts confessed to killing all three of them.

I'm sure he had a plan, but Shannan's friend blew his plan out of the water by calling the police. Had she not gotten involved, he would have carried out whatever his plan was that evening after work. Maybe one day he will be more forthcoming about how it happened and what he had planned to do. At this point, he has absolutely nothing to lose.

I’ve heard some interesting speculation that he planned to cause an “accidental” explosion at the site where he dumped their bodies. I haven’t dug into that claim so I can’t say I agree or disagree, but I do suspect that he had a plan to get rid of the evidence.

Yes, he absolutely thought he would get away with it. I don't believe that this was a spur of the moment decision, I believe he mulled over this for months, coming up with the "perfect" plan to get away with murder. I also think part of his plan was foiled by Shan'ann's friend, he didn't count on the fact that she would go directly to the house and call the police when she couldn't get ahold of Shan'ann. After that happened, Chris's "perfect" plan began to crumble away.
I think he did it because obviously he is a sick fuck but what drove him to it would have been because he was jealous as hell of her and her new life style. Originally when they met he was the rock, the hero who came into her life at a low time but as the years went on she came out of that dark place and the need to lean on him was less. It would have made him feel inferior. He would have become incredibly jealous and hated to see her happy, becoming successful and a beautiful strong woman. He would have had less attention from her as well. It would have eaten him alive. He was becoming unfaithful, trying to fill that void that he had lost. Instead of him being incredibly proud of his wife’s achievements It made him bitter and hate her.

Been to prison twice on the same case. 7yrs. And the way you describe yourself, that's how a real inmate survives being incarcerated. Everything far as emotions is blank. Parents like Shanann are at high risk for this type of crime. Still incredibly low, but when you have an emotionally unstable parent of young children driven to the point of suicide, and if the mother doesn't think the children should go on without her, all their lives are in jeopardy. (My mother had lupus and I dont think I ever heard her complain but, I always knew when she was having a rough time and it was often. I, myself, can only imagine how Shanann must have felt everyday. I can sort of relate. I suffer from multiple sclerosis, am expecting, and have a 10 year old daughter. It gets really tough during my flare ups.)

I have this far watched all the video and clips of Shanann and her daughters and it truly break my heart to think that this evil monster was capable of doing something so horrendous.

I disagree. You can tell he's in a deep state of depression and despair. Not for his wife and children, but for himself. He realizes the gravity of his situation and the magnitude of his life being completely over and the fact he will never be able to hold another woman, experience fun, happiness, or the fear of something new and exciting. He'll never travel to a new place, meet new people, work, own a home, try new food, confide in a friend, retire, or have any other meaningful experience ever again in his life. Just a small cell the size of a walk in closet for 23 hours a day for the rest of his long life. I work in a prison, and 23 hour solitary confinement is absolute torture. We take a lot of seemingly normal luxuries for granted. He can't even eat when he wants to. Imagine being hungry and not being able to eat until someone tells you to. And then you finally get food and it's disgusting anyway. Plus the guards will have no sympathy for him so they'll only give and do for him the bare minimum. And he's very young. He has a long torturous life ahead of him. I'd be surprised if he doesn't kill himself within the next 5-10 years.
