Stop building oversized and then cutting the ends of. You keep doing this on every project i've seen you do. It's a waste of material. It makes everything more difficult and in this case the cutoff ends don't look good being cut of with such a rough tool as a recipro saw. You also did this with your miter saw station and hitting the metal underneath as i understood you correctly in your last video. Bro, you need to start measuring your shit.
Also, let's say your planter box is not on a level surface but you're making the "roof" level, it will look off even when the "roof" is level. You should just measure from the top of the planter box up to the desired height and repeat that on every vertical stud and just use those lines to screw the roof... In this case the roof needs to be level in correlation to the box. You should screw the vertical studs to the planter box, measure around them and pre-assemble the roof. Then just attach the roof and done. Nailing supports to the wood to keep it perfect level is all completely unnecessary.
I would have mitered the edges also to make it a bit nicer instead of having the cutoffs. Could have challenged yourself even a bit more and use domino's to attach the roof instead of screws... I mean, you literaly have all the tools a man can dream about. Even most pro's don't have the range of tools you have xD
That's just my advice i can give you. Grtz

I hear you. All of my projects to date have been unplanned. There are no drawings or sketchups. It also does not help that I don't purchase plans. I am trying to better understand my tools by building very basic projects. As I get more comfortable, I expect to see more consistent results.
I did consider using the Domino; however, I did not have any Sipo tenons for outdoor projects, and I did not feel like picking them up.
I appreciate the feedback and criticism. It will challenge me to get better.
Another big challenge is that I have had no formal training in recording and editing video, so I am trying to build a project off the top of my head while making a video in the little time I have available.
I believe I will get better. It is just more challenging when juggling many different things simultaneously.
