In theory, I believe you can upgrade your house with a permanently full inventory using only bell bags that you find from shaking trees, since if you pick up bell bags with a full inventory, normally you can place the bells directly in your wallet from the "swap item" screen. Do the glitch presents stop that from happening?
Great catch! I didn’t even think of that. You can indeed pocket bells into your “wallet” even with a full inventory of glitched presents. I guess we’ll have to paper airplane up the post office too! 😈 EDIT: Actually, I believe you can still prevent this scenario by buying the shovel first, equipping it, and then filling your inventory with the glitched presents after. This way you can no longer shake trees to get bells since you’ll be stuck holding the shovel forever. Ah.. but if you’re holding the shovel then you’re able to get bells from the daily money rock.. Unless you account for this beforehand and place items around every rock so it can’t produce bells… but then you still have the golden dig spot to get bells… That’s it… we’re just erasing the post office acre with paper airplanes…
@@Hunter-R. I was about to come ask the same question but it looks like I was late to the party lol. I have to point out that if you make the post office acre crash, there isn't really a point to setting up the inventory in the first place since you have to pay off your debt there in the first place. The fixes I would suggest for tree bells would be to chop down all of the trees before setting up the inventory. You could also drop items all around each rock to prevent their bell bags from spawning, but the golden spot would still appear and using an axe instead of a shovel would allow it to eventually break, meaning you could shake trees again. It's been a minute since I've played GC but I believe the bug net would work to prevent tree shaking, so having it equipped, the full inventory, and the crashing train acre should be all you need... 364 days of the year.

watching this video reminded me of something that really scared me when I was a kid. It's about Animal Crossing: Wild World, which was my first game from the AC series. I know it's not the same thing, but I've never seen anyone talking about this(and this kinda creeps me out even now). Anyway, when I was 6 I had my Nintendo Dsi modded; I used to play many games with an R4, you know the drill- with that you could have access to cheats, so when I discovered this feature I started to play with it. This is where Animal Crossing comes in: one day I regularly booted the game and my town was covered with rocks. Every acre was limited by rocks, and you could, of course, go anywhere. It was a long run, even with cheats, and every progress I made so far was about to vanish. plus, I was only six, it was so scary seeing my town in that state that if I think about it I get the chills. I've never seen anyone talking about this and now I'm hoping that someone who knows why that happened will read this and explain. It could have been something on the cheats menu, but I'm italian, and, when I was six, knowing what "apple" meant was mind-blowing so now I can't remember what was written. Anyway, it would happen not right after updating the cheats menu, but after some time. Again, I hope someone knows what was going on so I can finally solve this 14 years old mistery.
Wild World had items called "seeds" that are used internally to place town features, for world generation - so like when it first makes your town, it drops a seed for the shop, for the houses, etc. to place everything down. For some reason (probably debugging?) these seeds actually exist as inventory items and you can get them with cheats. They were a huge problem for people playing online, since you had to constantly worry that hackers would spawn tons of stuff and ruin your town with no real way to get rid of them. Wild World also had tons of cheat codes that would fill every open space in your entire town with a specific item; I remember seeing the code for Bell bags constantly when looking for codes to get specific items. My best guess is that you accidentally used a cheat that set every single empty space in your entire town to be a rock seed, which would spawn them basically everywhere possible.
@prismavoid3764 it could be, but maybe there were seeds only on acres's limits, I don't know if it's possible. thank you for explaining it to me by the way :D
My immediate guess (and sadly without original hardware it's just a guess) is to use the Animal Island as a functional "second memory card" that can lose your inventory that way.

I used to do it so often that I had the code memorized for maximum efficiency. To this day, I still remember the WB2 in the beginning of the code and the way it sounds in Animalese. I had long forgotten the rest of the code having been away from the game for a decade or more now, but I recognized this one the moment it came on screen, although with a few tweaks from what I seem to recall. The @ was an &, and the cnounU was cnownU instead. I wonder what it is about them that makes a game-locking bug so similar to a code for money.
Randomly guessing but kinda have a feeling the island GBA minigame might be a possible way to delete items. I'm far too lazy to test it out though. Wishing Well can also delete items but it is generally for task items where the villager in question had moved away, you can "apologize" to the well and have the item be removed but unsure if it can do such for the glitch presents.
Hey just want to say congrats on the sudden channel growth! I found you when you had about 4 - 7k subscribers and it makes me glad to see your channel grow so fast! Love the videos you make, good luck on your youtube journey! ❤
Another fix would be to to wait to receive a letter in the mail, and then store one of the presents inside the opened mail. I used to do to that to have an extra set of inventory space when playing the game back in the day!
For anyone interested, encryption is quite a big subset of computing and is used everywhere. RSA is one of several that is designed to encrypt with one value and decrypt with another. Hard drive encryptors commonly use these. There's, also hashing algorithms that are designed to be one way. These are what websites use for storing passwords. Though websites should also be salting their hashes, that is adding a variable to further encrypt them. So when you send your password to log in, the server is checking that your password hashes to match the encrypted version that it stored. There are many many other examples like VPNs, file integrity verification, and others. Some of these are already considered quantum resistant.
Great content Hunter, I'm excited to be here at the start of what's sure to become the definitive GC Animal Crossing info channel. Can't afford to do anything but glad to see someone covering easily my favorite GC game.
I love this whole channel! Super cool to see these things like debug mode, NES games, and everything Animal Crossing GameCube in one channel by an incredible video maker! Keep up the great work! :)
I had an idea for something that this (loosely) reminded me of. Animal crossing towns can't be copied to another memory card using the system utility, but what if you manually made a copy using a homebrew tool (like on the wii) and then put both memory cards in the same system? How would the game behave if the two towns were 100% identical? How would villager moving work since both towns would have exactly the same villagers? Would the ones you were friends with recognize you?
I know that Sonic Adventure (2)'s Chao Garden saves actually check for this, even though they're flagged as Move Only. They aren't so robust about duping Chao though (even though a clone Chao can't live in the same garden) - all the Chao Copy mechanic cares about is that the GCN game is sending a multiboot to the GBA: if a Tiny Chao Garden is in memory, even a multiboot one, it'll send a whole Chao. No special flags to ensure copies are sent back where they came from either.
If I had to take a guess, I would say it's something to do with resetting the console on a specific bit write during the saving or loading of the game as you enter/quit the game. That's the only thing I can think about in terms of possibly clearing an inventory like that.
Would argue you're like pikasprey, they do this with Pokemon games (though they make the games actually able to get out of, just it takes a *long* time) since they are actually still around.
Originally, I tried to watch this while I was in the hospital with severe chest pain. Which.... ended up being a very, VERY ~ANGRY~ muscle. I'm finally getting back to it months later and it's wild how much of this video that I have no memory of. Pain is a hell of a drug.
In the old animal crossing you could visit an island using a Nintendo Gameboy and the attachment and have your own personal island witch is like using the train station. Resetting while on the island will also reset your inventory I believe
The wishing well has a function that may affect this. If you have non-droppable items (in regular gameplay these are usually delivery or lost items or whatever) that are left there for an extended time (a week?), you can go to the wishing well, ask forgiveness for failing to get it to who it is supposed to go to, and surrender the item. Will that work on these glitch presents?

This was a very interesting concept! And I think it was best you explained all of the different code functions in this video, since I was interested in how each of them worked. I love how complex this rather small part of the game is. And the fact it can help obtain a (mostly) impossible save is so cool!! Another great video, as always! :D
Indeed. But these codes don’t know when to quit, and there’s one more cool thing you can do with them - but it will be awhile before I get around to it. 🙃

My guesses to fix your inventory: You could give a glitched item back to Tom Nook to send to a friend and set the player name and town to match your own which should technically create the original code again. Another would be to give it as a gift to a villager on their birthday or a viable holiday. Also if I recall you can use a letter received from the mail to act as extra storage, so maybe we can move it there and then even use the post office computer to store the letter and item there Last guess would be that you could put the item up for sale from your gyroid in front of your house to free up space.
All good guesses! Unfortunately the game prevents you from interacting with the glitched present in your inventory at all. This means you cannot mail it, put it in your letters, or otherwise give it to anyone else. Tom Nook will also not sell it or accept it as a valid item to be sent via a code. It is a pretty stubborn little present!
@@Hunter-R.Great point. Then the only other thing I can think of is when a Villager plays a game with you and "swaps" one of your items with their items. I always remember getting completely screwed over from that game so maybe this would be good payback haha
Man, I almost forgot about Stryder! Miss those videos -- but everyone's right! Your content reminds me of that a lot ^_^ I've never had interest in the original AC -- or, really, AC at all -- until your stuff, but I might have to look further into it!
I remember as a child I thought I softlocked my own game- for years after I first played AC, I was too young to really know what I was doing before, so when i turned the game on I found my character had a pikachu tomogachi looking toy that belonged to Olivia. I had no idea about the wishing well and for almost a whole year played the game with minus an inventory slot, and this was AFTER I searched all my old memory cards for Olivia.
He even says "A unknown" instead of "An unknown", and I bet hearing him say ",Pr ?ÚctÌH 1zBe" immediately makes your character want to hear the proper pronunciation.
This channel has really shot up out of nowhere, and I gotta say, good job! I've watched many piktubers who haven't even gotten close to what you have done. I hope in the future you mess around with later games, especially ACNH.
Possible fixes: Go to your islander and give a present. Lose the igloo minigames villagers give in winter. Also at first I thought you were going to remove all fruit trees, money and items, but this video took a whole other approach! Very cool ^^
The igloo villagers will only take furniture, wallpapers, and flooring, from my experience. I've had presents in my inventory before, and the igloo villagers have never asked for them. Assuming the glitch present is actually treated as a "present", the igloo wouldn't work.
I have never been a fan of Animal Crossing. I never wanted to play it, or understood why people play it. But this is so cool! I think i might play the game now.
Nah there's a whole group of channels with a single-video-game-deep-dive-into-mechanics-niche: pannenkoek2012 - Super Mario 64 TheZZAZZGlitch - Pokemon Marticore - The Sims 2 Stryder7x - Paper Mario Hunter R. - Animal Crossing I love all of u
I think it would be even funnier if someone did this, had the items in front of the door be the items that you can use to be other games. May as well give the poor sap playing something to do while stuck unable to progress for eternity! 😂
9:39: Was that a bug or was it intentional? I have a feeling it was intentional because there are actually alternate face textures for blinking and getting stung. Why they decided to opt for such a weird 'punishment' for resetting in another player's town, I have no clue.
@@Hunter-R. Ah, cool! I wonder why they went with that face design specifically - if it was supposed to scare players into not resetting (the face _does_ look a little creepy), then why didn't they just apply it upon resetting normally (along with the usual Resetti encounter)?

But you can't grab and move glitched gift, so use mail inventory is impossible
Very kind of you! Thank you for taking the time to comment, means a lot!
No special flags to ensure copies are sent back where they came from either.
wow i managed to sneak into this video! thanks for the cameo? great video btw!
Where?
Love seeing some Pikasprey-style Softlock-picking
If I had to take a guess, I would say it's something to do with resetting the console on a specific bit write during the saving or loading of the game as you enter/quit the game. That's the only thing I can think about in terms of possibly clearing an inventory like that.
Would argue you're like pikasprey, they do this with Pokemon games (though they make the games actually able to get out of, just it takes a *long* time) since they are actually still around.
"Oh it uses RSA this could potentially be impossible for anyone but nintendo to create codes hu-"
OH DEAR GOD
What now.
@@Most-sane-deltarune-fan2 digit primes 😂
@@LiEnby What ABOUT them?
Originally, I tried to watch this while I was in the hospital with severe chest pain. Which.... ended up being a very, VERY ~ANGRY~ muscle. I'm finally getting back to it months later and it's wild how much of this video that I have no memory of. Pain is a hell of a drug.
Should have a follow up, in the style of pikaspry's "softlock picking," series where you get past this save and unsoft lock it.
I’ve never even played this game, but I am totally invested in this series of videos.
Haha, the "Evil" Paper Mario Cartridge is one of my favorite Stryder videos, so cool to see an homage to that
Same, brings back good memories.
An Animal Crossing video was NOT the place I expected to learn how RSA works.
Will that work on these glitch presents?
bro hunter your content is amazing. like, it is literally just the sort of niche that i LOVE. i love your content, keep doing what you're doing bro - this is the sort of content i'd expect from a big youtuber, not a guy that started uploading like 2 months ago
Very high praise! Thank you so much!
@@Hunter-R. you’re most welcome! keep doing what you love bro
Man I love your channel, ACGC is one of my favourite things ever and I've been binging the shit out of these.
Hey we're going to need more deep dives and stepping through the literal code for funky mechanics. Absolutely loved this and you're killing it 💜
This was a very interesting concept! And I think it was best you explained all of the different code functions in this video, since I was interested in how each of them worked. I love how complex this rather small part of the game is. And the fact it can help obtain a (mostly) impossible save is so cool!!
Another great video, as always! :D
so THIS is the "upcoming video" you were talking about in the nook code generator
Indeed. But these codes don’t know when to quit, and there’s one more cool thing you can do with them - but it will be awhile before I get around to it. 🙃
Hearing Stryder's name made me think about waiting for him to upload when i was back in middle school. I watched him constantly, waiting for him to upload. Your content is amazing !!
Now you've done Stryder, you now need to do Pikasprey Yellow Softlock Picking :P
Just found your content in the last day or two. Loving the more techy animal content!
Animal crossing*
you mentioning stryder brought back so many memories good lord
i wonder what happened to him, its been so long
He was outted as an abuser
@@Conklestothemax wait what
@@trekkytek yep. from what i remember:
- his ex came out with some very solid accusations of him being abusive
- he made a half-assed attempt to save face
- she pretty thoroughly debunked his response
- he completely disappeared from the internet
as far as i know his rebutal was actually rather solid, he fell out of favor more because he didnt reply immediately but his mods went into extreme attack mode w out talking to him first@@dizzy_eevee
@@jellywillreturnthat is such a stretch. You do realize that abuse regularly happens *because* people close to the victim dont believe them or choose to look the other way? Believing this person isnt an abuser because youve formed a parasocial bond of trust with one of their friends is extremely questionable.
They should make a video? Trying to make the biggest animal crossing population growing town as possible.
You're not a bad teacher, i've learnt a few things off your videos and i enjoy watching them so much :)
This could be a series similar to what pikasprey doesnwith pokemon games. He creates "soft locks" and then "lockpicks" them. Would be really cool to do with animal crossing imo
Omg my sister has that glitched present on our childhood save file!! I don’t think we ever used codes or anything for it, she just got it in the mail and we can’t do anything about it and it’s still there. I wonder how my sister ended up getting it
Just wanna say your videos are great. Love your technical insight into some of this stuff in the game, especially as someone who likes to learn the behind the scenes code myself as an InfoSec guy. Keep up the awesome work :)
could you do a video like "100 things you didn't know about animal crossing" or something like that? i think it would be awesome!
You bring me back to uni math classes with small RSA calculations... Wow
just wanna say that these videos are so lovely, thank you for all the deep dives into such an amazing game :)
btw what you called a bit shift is typically referred to as a bit rotation, where the bit being cut off (on either side) will be moved to the empty bit, bit shifting typically omits the bit and the new one will always be 0.
Yea, the graphic was edited incorrectly. This is corrected in the description! Sorry for the mistake.
Stryder7x is awesome. Didn’t think anyone else really remembered him.
Anyways, nice video!
Hello I did
I was one of his first 1,000 subs. Miss him sometimes 😭
Terrific video, keep on with the good work, love to see such high quality content like this!
i haven’t watched stryder7x in years, man. and this just reminded me of him. hold on, gonna binge watch all his videos (again) after this
Binging Stryder7xs videos crashes Paper Mario
this channel popped up out of nowhere and i love it
I dont think i can feel depressed after finding this gem of a youtube channel
Ultimate entertainment for my adhd ass
We may never know the truth about the Stryder7x situation. However, it’s clear he made amazing content, that many people like myself miss watching and seeing new videos.
When you say, "the truth," are you saying there are allegations against him in some wise? I think I remembered hearing something once and then never again, as even in that it was just conjecture.
he apparently was a dick to his ex when they were together, he apparently disproved it but didn't resume posting.
@@TheUA-camGame
@@starleaf-luna Thank you for the info.
I'd say big whoop magazine but as Stryder hasn't posted in years this is a genuine problem... I just chalked it up to content drought like he ran outta stuff in paper Mario to talk about
@@grandmagunsales2125 Just to clarify, I don’t believe Stryder7x ran out of content. I think he just left the internet for his own health and wellbeing. He made a post about it later on his patreon discord and that remains the status for the rest of time. There most likely will never be a return of Stryder7x.
I'm studying cybersecurity engineering in Spain right now, i was thinking about spending a relaxing time watching an animal crossing video and instead i see a small resume of the Data structure class about encription that i saw two weeks ago...
That permanently unopenable present is 100% a botched 30,000 bells gift code.
I LOVE THESE ACGC VIDEOS!! THANK U FOR MAKING THESE
My guesses to fix your inventory:
You could give a glitched item back to Tom Nook to send to a friend and set the player name and town to match your own which should technically create the original code again.
Another would be to give it as a gift to a villager on their birthday or a viable holiday.
Also if I recall you can use a letter received from the mail to act as extra storage, so maybe we can move it there and then even use the post office computer to store the letter and item there
Last guess would be that you could put the item up for sale from your gyroid in front of your house to free up space.
I love glitches. Maybe someday I'll do sumn similar. Subbed for the stryder ref. Ty for not being afraid to be different Hunter.
Don't you mean e-Cards?
Tom Nook is so confused about the presents 🤣
He even says "A unknown" instead of "An unknown", and I bet hearing him say ",Pr ?ÚctÌH 1zBe" immediately makes your character want to hear the proper pronunciation.
"Conclusion" is misspelled as "Conclusione" in the chapters.
I want to thank you for subtiteling the whole video. If enlish is not your mother tongue, they can help a lot :)
I have full English subtitles on all of my videos for this exact purpose. I am glad they help! 🥳
This video was worth the wait
This is awesome I hope you get more subscribers :D
finally some good fucking youtube can’t beleive it took me this long to find this channel
damn watched all ur vids can u upload again pla
1:08 why are you wearing me
This channel has really shot up out of nowhere, and I gotta say, good job! I've watched many piktubers who haven't even gotten close to what you have done. I hope in the future you mess around with later games, especially ACNH.
I am both grateful and saddened by the missed opportunity for a deez nuts joke during the explanation of the RSA
Making a sex joke is completely irrelevant when talking about numbers.
I mean yeah -- I miss Stryder7X. I think I get that same vibe from your channel and I didn't even realize it.
This is literally Animal Crossing's version of bad egg
I never connected you and stryder until I saw the thumbnail on this video, and now it feels so obvious.
such great quality vids, great job man
Possible fixes:
Go to your islander and give a present.
As soon as I saw the RSA encryption, I got flashbacked when having to calculate this all by hand...
I WAS LITERALLY THINKING OF STRYDER7X OMG I MISS HIM SM. I LOVE YOU ❤❤❤
I have never been a fan of Animal Crossing. I never wanted to play it, or understood why people play it. But this is so cool! I think i might play the game now.
I'm glad you've converted.

Time to call Pikasprey Yellow to find his way out of it 👀
pikasprey yellow also has videos similar to this but for pokemon
You uploaded this just as I was settling in for dinner what a blessing also based Stryder shoutout
That makes me want to do some RSA calculations for fun again ^^' Nice Video! I love it!

I ASKED ABT THE GYROID FACE ON THE RESSETTI VIDEO... god i used to think it was just something my kid brain made up
thank you for these videos, i love them and they calm me
I think it would be even funnier if someone did this, had the items in front of the door be the items that you can use to be other games. May as well give the poor sap playing something to do while stuck unable to progress for eternity! 😂
this channel is so dope, love me some acgc content
9:39: Was that a bug or was it intentional? I have a feeling it was intentional because there are actually alternate face textures for blinking and getting stung. Why they decided to opt for such a weird 'punishment' for resetting in another player's town, I have no clue.
Intentional! I’ll probably do a video dedicated to multiplayer at some point and cover this more in detail.
@@Hunter-R. Ah, cool! I wonder why they went with that face design specifically - if it was supposed to scare players into not resetting (the face _does_ look a little creepy), then why didn't they just apply it upon resetting normally (along with the usual Resetti encounter)?
@@SKCro.Since Gyroids are based off of Haniwas, one could assume that your very soul is trapped in the other person's town, and your own body is just a husk.
