I couldn’t help but notice that the fossil and ghost forms of missingno use the letters w, x, and y to trigger their appearance, so next in line would be z... referring to porygon-z, and it also being the “final” version of the glitch
I dont remember when, but a while ago i had figured that while Missing isnt considered a real pokemon by the devs. They made a official Missing with Porygon Z. And i only figured that soely because of the fact that Z is glitchy and spazzes.
Cinnabar Island gets bugged because the one line of tiles on the right hand side has no encounter data of its own, so wherever you were last gets put in its place. The encounter data for the Old Man teaching you to catch pokemon is the buggiest!
It actually because cinnabar Island has no tall grass encounters, the tiles are accidently set to grass, and the old man glitch copies your name to the same space that would contain the encounter data for tall grass. That is why you have to fly to cinnabar island so your grass encounter data doesn't get overwritten. The glitch also works on the east side of seafoam island too and you can make safari zone pokemon appear instead IIRC.
I was curious what the real reason was, since obviously none of this stuff can intentional. It's just a fun story that makes sense and incorporates the glitches into the narrative.
I like the idea of Missingno being an earlier version and after being disregarded finds a way to escape, roaming around Cinnabar. I remember loving messing with the Missingno glitch when I was younger. Either catching it or using it to get 99x rare candies and Master Balls. Lol
I always headcannoned MissingNo. as being the bug that occured when the Mew cloning experiment glitched and instead of producing Dittos produced Mewtwo through Blaine putting his cells in the mix
The plot thickens with Lockstin's backstory. His formative introduction to the N64 occurred during a hospital stay in his youth, presumably something major enough as to have an extended stay that would necessitate some form of entertainment to preoccupy a child. He's shared so much like in his weight loss video!
I didn't watch his weight loss video, so I don't know if he has type 1 or 2 diabetes. But if he has type 1, his diabetes coming to an apex leading to his diagnosis would be a cause of a long term hospital stay for a child
Sometimes hospital stays aren’t major. My daughter has a hemangioma. It’s like a blood filled birth mark. Often called a strawberry birthmark. I had to stay with her in the hospital for 4 days while she started a medication to reduce her birthmarks size. They just wanted to monitor her and ensure she didn’t have an allergic reaction. Extremely non serious hospital stay lol.

Imagine they do add MissingNO in the future, and to get it you need to get a BadEgg from a Porygon. Cute way to poke fun at the history of bugs in Pokemon
@@JamesDavy2009 Shhhh... Let's not get into the technicalities of having your system crash from a for loop error.. It complied, it ran, it's good enough. We can always fix it in the morning. :) - every dev ever running on 72 hrs w/o sleep
My theories are the Deoxys one along with Porygon Z being attempt two to canonize Missingno. And then they gave up and never thought of canonizing it via ultra beasts in Gen 7
If Ross stole unfinished Porygon code and used that to develop the Dubious Disc, that would go a long way to explain the glitches in PorygonZ. It’s like using old mods on a game that’s been updated and patched several times. It can cause all sorts of conflicts and errors.
I know that to be true; I still have a GZDoom mod that worked with the first revision that I had downloaded, but long ago stopped working because I'm always upgrading the program.
@@edgardeitz5746 - I know it, myself, from The Sims 4. Every update to the game manages to break a whole slew of mods. PorygonZ's glitches would be like a Last Exception Error, in effect.
because mega evolution was the thing at the time and so gamefreak was like: "hey lets remake hoen, but the legendaries are to boring on their own..." "ok give them a mega evolution but dont call it that" and Voilà. im obviously joking a but there may be some truth there, also i really miss mega evolutions, Sun and moon was a snore with "z-moves" (hey maybe that plays into porygon-z as well) and with Sword and shield while big pokemon are cool (and they get different forms depending on the pokemon) it would still be nice if they brought back mega's
@@dufslammo4740 hi there so I think you're talking about Groudon/Kyogre and their Primal Forms. I was talking about Landorus/Thundurus/Tornadus and their Incarnate/Therian Forms Edit: Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza are now known as the Super-Ancient Trio
@@santiagocam383 And Tornadus, Thundurus and Landorus are the Forces of Nature just so you know-the former two are based on Fuujin (風神) and Raijin (雷神).
@@JamesDavy2009 thanks i honestly had forgotten the other name. Incarnate forms have a very direct origin as you just mentioned, but I think we deserve a explanation as to why they transform into a bird, a something-tiger and... well, another something-tiger Edit: And when exposed to a mirror. no less
@@santiagocam383 My personal theory is that they have a dual origin as Djinn as well and that the mirror reveals their true forms, the Therian forms. The Dream Radar realm is where they originate from and that's why they are in the Therian Forms in that game/app.
hey since Porygon-Z is a corrupt version of Porygon-3 that means we still have yet to reveal Porygon-3 meaning Porygon-3 is yet another canon pokemon we know exists but don't know what it looks like just like The Original Dragon, and the true Corphish and Crawdawnt and there are more but those are the ones off the top of my head.
True Corphish and Crawdaunt? What do you mean by that, I'm not familiar. Also, I never thought of there being an actual Porygon-3, just Porygon-Z being the only result of a failed experiment. It's cool to think that there could be a real Porygon-3 though
@@jackiecozzie4803 if you look at corphish and crawdawnts pokedex entries they say they came from another region but changed over time in the new environment to the point they don't even resemble their original counterparts. so Corphish and Crawdawnt are essentially regional variants before regional variants existed.
Ghost type pokemon are known for being able to posses objects. Maybe a ghost type found the rest of the failed attempt to create porygon, posses it and then became a sentient glitch (a pokemon fused with an failed artificial pokemon). That would explain why all most versions of MissingNo. look like dead pokemon or a ghost.
I wish they would do something official with MissingNo. Most pokemon games end with a near apocalypse so a virus/glitch making its way to the real world wouldn't be too dark or whatever. I guess it might be considered too close to Digimon though
That's why I feel having it be a rare Pokémon (possibly mythical) would work well. Have it be loosely based on missingno while having a mostly original design (and name). Have it's Pokédex entries mention it being a glitch in the Pokémon storage system. And have it's category be the "Missing Number Pokemon"
12:19 I mean if the investors saw them acknowledge that it was a glitch, they'd be a bit wary to say the very least and at least in that particular case it's not even really worth losing a few of them over it.
This is the third time I've seen MissingNo stuff in a week after not seeing stuff on it in yeeears... I wonder if MissingNo is having a renaissance of sorts?
Lockstin should do a video on Cinnabar Island’s timeline as a whole- the fossil maniac’s lab, the Porygon project, Ditto, Mew, the Mewtwo project, ending with the abrupt “volcanic eruption” from G/S, which may have been caused by Mewtwo’s anime escape or even a Rocket cover-up.
i think its awesome to have both a technical explanation for glitches AND an in world explanation, even if the devs didnt intent for things like that to be canon its fun to work it into in game lore!
I knew it! I knew you were going to do a Missingno video! Also, I actually have a MissingNo shirt that I got from teepublic, and I'm actually trying to get a MissingNo plushie from Etsy.
Back in the day, one of the kids at my school was doing the Missingno glitch when the player character switched with the Old Man and broke the game. His name changed, the trainer battle sprite changed, and it would always do the catching tutorial in a wild battle, regardless of the pokemon that appeared. I think it was on a Yellow version, but that could be wrong, it was 20 or so years ago.
A bit late to the party, and after scrolling for a few minutes I didn't see this, but editor, you did a really good job on this episode. I don't normally think about how good the editing is in a video, so I assume you've done an incredible job to even make me realize it.
In Pokémon Yellow (cartridge or VC) you can get any of the 3 stable MissingNo. (X, Y, Z) by performing a double Trainer Fly Glitch (or Mew Glitch), as well as the unstable one that causes your screen to go black. Currently playing through Yellow for the VC and have done it a few times already.
i feel like Noggin should edit in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet also Fun Fact : MissingNo is actually in every game you just need to find an encounter that is higher then the region dex number by glitches and homebrewing
I kind of want an Easter egg where you get a small branch off evolution with a prototype of dubious disc, and its like a poliwhirl thing, where it goes back to regular porygon but it has no texture, just a scrambled mess like static
between its funky stat spread, otherworldly appearance, and appearing off the coast of an island, i always liked to imagine missingno as an ultra beast
Honestly thought you'd say "Find out in this episode of ... Porygon-Z!" Also, I also like the idea of MissingNo being some kind of conceptual legendary with the purpose of keeping the identities of pokemon seperate from each other or something, like a pokemon that inhabits the database of the universe.
2:28 Being rushed was probably the _least_ of the original FFXIV's problems. Also Cyberpunk was delayed at least once, the problem is that it should have been delayed again, not that it was necessarily rushed (I mean it was crunched on, which is a whole other can of worms but so was Witcher 3, so...)
Game Freak is a canon part of the Pokémon world. With the MissingNo glitches happening on Cinnabar Island, who's to say that the Pokémon world is a simulation and that Porygon is the true first Pokémon
SIGH…I've done way too much research regarding Missingno, so I have some things to set straight about how and why it appears. See, Missingno isn't actually a glitch Pokemon, it's a placeholder - originally, there were going to be many more Pokemon in the original games than there actually were, and a few dozen extra slots of data value got filled with the placeholder "Missingno", to be replaced with a Pokemon to be created down the line that ultimately was never made, but those placeholders still exist in the game. It IS possible to make a true glitch Pokemon appear, by forcing the game to retrieve a value higher than the I think 190 original intended Pokemon, and lower than the max value of 255…See, in super-old tech like this, every Pokemon had a data value from 0 to 255, except only 151 of those slots were actually filled, and another 39 of them were GOING to be filled but weren't, and so contain the placeholder Missingno. Data value 0 yields [garbled]'M[garbled], which is NOT Missingno, but a different thing, sort of a dummy file, as the game was never supposed to retrieve anything from data value 0 but something needed to be there or the program just wouldn't work. Now, the Old Man glitch and the Ditto Fly glitch are two entirely different processes, and in fact, the Old Man glitch is a lot more restrictive and a lot less broken. Only a few restricted data points can be accessed using the Old Man glitch, and all of them are within the range of 0 to 190, ergo you can only obtain Missingno and 'M from the Old Man glitch - basically, letters also have data point values, and the game rearranges stuff from the letters of your name to the data values of what's allowed to appear in a battle to make the tutorial display correctly. Now, when you enter an area in which battles can occur, the game loads a table of possible encounters in that area, but if you fly directly from Mr. Tutorial Man to Cinnabar Island, the game won't do this because you technically haven't loaded an area in which encounters can happen yet. Now, the reason Missingno can then appear on Cinnabar Island is because the border tiles between the town and the water are technically within Cinnabar Island, meaning you haven't left the town zone and entered the route in which encounters can occur, which would reset what the game can access. Normally, it just keeps the last table of possible encounters from the route you came from, but you didn't come from a route, you came from the tutorial, so the table it has on-hand is your name, with each letter corresponding to a data value, some of which belong to Pokemon that were never made and thus act as placeholder values, containing, you guessed it, Missingno. Thus, Missingno can appear if you move on a tile that technically has a random chance of encounters without leaving the town where encounters technically aren't supposed to happen. The Ditto Fly glitch, meanwhile, can allow you to access ANY of the possible 256 data values to which Pokemon can be assigned, including those that don't even have the Missingno placeholder. All you need is a Pokemon with Special stat that's equal to the data value you want, a Pokemon with fly, and access to the route with Ditto. If a Ditto transforms into the Pokemon with the Special stat in question, it copies that stat, and for SOME reason that stat then corresponds to something else in the data. Leave the battle with the Ditto, go somewhere where there's a Pokemon trainer who can trigger a battle the moment they spawn, and as soon as the "!" appears over their head, open the menu and fly back to the town you came to that trainer from. When you return to that route, surprise! The Pokemon assigned to the data value equal to the Special stat you made the Ditto copy will appear the instant you enter the route. Why? That I don't know, I'm not a coder, I barely understand the stuff I've described thus far. What's important is that if the Special stat you make the game pull from is between 191 and 256, you can force it to make an ACTUAL glitch Pokemon from random bits of data. Except it's not random, every genuine glitch Pokemon has been documented (and sometimes the game pulls out random trainer battles that were never included in the game, it's weird), but these aren't even placeholders, they're genuine possible-game-corrupting glitches. The point I'm trying to make here is that Missingno is not a glitch, it was intentionally put into the game's code, it just wasn't ever intended to appear because it was a placeholder that was supposed to be filled with an actual Pokemon during development but never was. That said, it does NOT only appear on Cinnabar Island, you can summon any iteration of Missingno using the Ditto Fly glitch, too. So while it was deliberately coded, it's not actually attached to Cinnabar Island, that's just one place it can be made to appear. No one actually got far enough into this comment to read this, I'm fully aware, but my point is that this theory doesn't quite work because Lock didn't actually research what Missingno really is. I wrote an essay to prove a Pokemon theory on UA-cam wrong, which in the end makes me the real fool. XD
I caught and evolved Missingno into Kangaskhan once. It wasn’t immediate, but totally scrambled my save. I knew not to, but curiosity got the better of me.
I remember using the old man glitch for unlimited master balls. I remember during one of my playthroughs 20 years ago, I was doing the glitch and ended up encountering a battle against professor oak. He had a bunch of glitch pokemon and a flareon. I was showing all my friends the craziness. I also kept encountering an unlimited amount of Mewtwo at level 170!
Ah missingno ~ Back in the early days of the 2000s, I read about it online did the glitch and caught it. Then I traded it to my sibling's copy of pokemon gold. It evolved into a slowpoke and then destroyed their save file. (:
The old man glitch works because flying to a town doesn't reset the encounter tables and the side of Cinnabar Island that you surf on mistakenly uses the Grass Encounter Table which is where the Player's name is stored after doing the old man glitch. The reason why the Grass encounter table might be because Viridian City has water and it could cause glitches with the player's name or something.
This actually seems really plausible. I know the actual coding reason for missingno but devs have a habit of intentionally leaving bugs in as a sort of Easter egg instead of outright fixing the problem at the source as a kind of fun reminder of the process of the game's development, just make it more difficult to run into as long as they deem it a non-priority during the development phase of a game's release, a sort of attachment to the design they created or a fun quirk run into during testing. Using Porygon z to explain the process since it's literally a devs designed ai gone rogue would be fun Easter egg devs would have placed with the missingno "glitch". It's to easy to replicate for beta testers to have not run into it during the alpha or beta phase of the game's development to not catch it before release.
anybody else remember the no longer active youtuber missingno expert. Such a fun channel that walks you through a extremely glitched playthrough of gen 1 pokemon games
One of the most interesting ones I've seen is that missingno is what happens when a pokeball malfunctions with a pokemon inside. Naturally, there's about a million safeguards to prevent this (including pokemon being able to escape on their own, like TR's wobbuffet) but either older models of pokeballs, or just unbelievable circumstances, its possible for the data of the pokemon, its very being, to get corrupted. If its lucky its 'fainted' by the time the pokeball opens. Kinda morbid, but so fascinating to me. The skeletal versions could be those pokemon but the data for their flesh is literally just not there, and the ghost could be one who's physical form was nearly completely erased, or an actual ghost type. The glitch forms are just the really bad corruptions.
I love this idea so much XD There's another UA-camr, Shippage, that made a mini-series called StarterSquad. In one episode a Hitmonchan had an unfortunate encounter with MissingNo, which absorbed the Hitmonchan and used it to come out of the data world into the physical in creepy pasta fashion!
I had an idea for your Lokemon Kascade region series. Since cat videos are popular in America, and I'm an absolute Greek mythology fan (I love reading Percy Jackson), I thought of mixing the Calico cat with a character from Greek mythology named Calypso, who was a lonely girl who was imprisoned on an island by Zeus. In the Percy Jackson series, it's said that she's cursed so that, during some time in their journey, the hero of the time would wash up on her island, but would always have to leave, making her more desperate for a friend. I was kind of thinking for the design to be something like Mienshao, and for its description in the Pokedex to say that it's a lonely Pokemon who doesn't even hesitate when a trainer tries to catch it. It evolves via friendship (high levels of friendship, such as Sylveon)
Considering the Dubious Disk is full of bugs, I think that they should make a "true" upgrade to Porygon 2, called Porygon 3 and it's upgraded by having a Porygon 2 hold onto a special item, placing it in your PC, and then going to Bill's house (or whomever is the equivalency of Bill) and taking the pokemon out from using their quantum computer.
I'm also a fan of the idea that missing no. Is the result of abandoned pokeballs that eventually get corrupted. It would be an interesting point for them to start from. Instead of making an artificial pokemon from scratch, they take the digitized code of an existing pokemon, maybe modify it, maybe remove and rearrange it, like DNA splicing.
I wish Game Freak would finally retcon MissingNo and make it an official part of the canon. Then again, keeping it unofficial adds to the mystique, like it's pokemon's herobrine lol. Seriously though, even if they don't make it canon, I would love to see just one animated appearance by MissingNo. I love the idea of a Pokemon that can break the fabric of reality and has a warped, incomprehensible form. It's almost like encountering a biblically accurate angel.
Come to think of it, this does make a lot of sense and could be made official lore if Pokémon decided to implement it. I really dig this theory! Altgough an alternative could be that Missingno. could be brought in as another Ultra Beast. It could keep it's forms, maybe has shapeshifting (and matter manipulating, hence to the multiplying glitch) powers and even Bird Type could be its official type :)
To expand upon this theory, maybe the corruption of game data from catching MissingNo is a sort of "Greygoo" scenario, where the MissingNo corrupts the owner's pokeball and begins rapidly self-replicating, consuming the entire planet and destroying/converting all matter?
So I know this is a theory for fun but its a database reference due to the cartridge memory pointing at a NULL or inserted value based on how the "Old Man Glitch" was performed. Cinnabar Island has encounter "grass patches" that were left in the games when mass produced. What we know as Red & Blue in the US are really the updated versions of Pokemon Red & Green from Japan and so the Null or "overflowed" database value is what gets pulled and is basically an error message as part of the ROM. The sprite is due to how sprites were coded as they could not fit 151 sprites on a cartridge, rather each sprite was a pallet that referenced specific portions of a "master" sprite table and is also why you see some pokemon look a lot like others.
This is why I love watching this channel. I love that he goes far too in depth about the smallest things in pokemon! I found him when he analyzed the very very first pokemon sword and shield games commercial.
Me and a friend of mine once had an idea for how they might handle putting Missingno in a new game. Basically, the idea was that Missingno would be a hidden feature in this hypothetical future game-i.e, never mentioned in advertising, not necessarily important to the plot-, and he would be hidden in a secret bunker somewhere towards the end. Throughout the game, you would collect password cards, hidden in each main area. Upon discovering this bunker area, and unlocking it via the cards, you would have to explore the dungeon-like interior, where you would discover broken windows, overgrown plants and fungi reclaiming the area, labcoat-covered skeletons, and read various log entries about the experiments conducted here. You would occasionally encounter pixelated Pokemon, subjects of previous experiments ( or perhaps corrupted by Missingno’s influence?), and see the clear evidence of a struggle. The aforementioned logs would eventually start to tell the story of how their most recent experiment had escaped into the Kanto region, where locals couldn’t comprehend the nature of what they’d seen. It was recaptured, but the final lab entry would be written in a shaky hand and speak frantically of how it was escaping, destroying the bunker-lab, and how all the Pokemon were running loose. I like the idea of it being a failed Porygon, we hadn’t thought of that.
I always thought about a grim noir murder investigation on Cinnibar Island... Which lead the detective to finding cubed chunks of meat interlaced into the sea wall of Cinnibar Island, them being the remains of the poor folks who went missing he was hired to find. Missingno glitched them into the environment in the same way itself is mixed up chunks of cubed code, in the same way it messes up your game if your not careful.
It's a possibility-remember that the franchise was a decade old when Gen-IV came out and like World 36-1 (a.k.a. the Minus World) in _Super Mario Bros._ MissingNo. was a famous glitch.
In some cases you can trade missingno from gen one to another generation and get almost any other pokemon depending upon what you trade for it and what generation you transfer it to. The most common forms that I have seen are 112 Rhydon, 115 Kangaskhan, 137 Porygon, 233 Porygon2, and if you're particularly inventive even 494 Victini, enjoy the info.
It does not have to be cinabar island just one of thoes tiles with the like half water land thing going on running north and south, its a tile meant to have encounters but was never programmed so it takes from the last encounter area, go to safari then one of thoes tiles and u can get chanseys that dont run :), the old man resets the last grass u were in to the glitch allowing missingno
The pokemon company should embrace missingno and incorporated into their lore, with this probably being the best way to do it. Excellent video as always!
Once made MissingNo pixel art on a MineCraft server. Shortly after, the server started slowing down and crashing a bunch due to _unrelated_ issues. Yes.
I dig the lore being built but was loosing my mind (jokingly) because every missingno I fought was over at Articuno's island not Cinnabar. Then I saw the "official" explanation which mentions the way I found him, the safari zone "trick"
Hi Lockstin! I would love to see something explaining how Arceus and the others made the Pokémon universe. The video could include what legendarys made what things, what order the legendarys were created, how each legendary came to be (including Arceus), or even more! Then you could make more videos going into detail about each Legendary! If you see this I love your videos, and have been watching since 2016! Your also one of my favorite UA-camrs!
Man I remember when the missingno glitch was first found out. Kids went nuts... I remember people trying to trade it because people said it could evolve into Mew, or bringing it to the fabled truck... The gen 1 games were nuts
This is an interesting concept, but in terms of using actual Pokémon lore I have a different theory. When I look at Porygon-Z, its eyes and posture immediately remind me of Rotom. Rotom already canonically inhabits various electronics, so sticking it in an electronic artificial Pokémon would surely cause some weird conflicts between the ghost-type Rotom and the normal-type Porygon line. Perhaps Porygon-Z’s erratic behavior is a result of it struggling for control while possessed by a very literal ghost in the machine.
cinnabar island suffers a couple of programming oversites that by themselves wouldnt be an issue, the first one is a blank encounter table, this was intentional since most towns dont have encounter data and means nothing happens even if the conditions are met, the single strip of surfable land is where things get weird, its a map error where a small section of the water route got overlapped with the edge of the island area, this also wouldnt do anything by itself since there is no encounter table so nothing spawns there, but together those two issues create one of the most abused combos in the game and let you rewrite the blank encounter table with whatever you were in last the reason cinnabar is special is because its the only spot with encounter tiles but no encounter table resulting is room for fun this splits off into several other exploits but the one of importance in this case is the old man, his capture tutorial actually takes place in a mostly defined location so it has things like encounter data, the catch is that the encounter data for that area is a bit messed up and prone to errors and corruption partially based on things like your name, this is harmless since you cant explore the area and you will never activate the errors within...until you try taking that corrupted encounter data and writing it on top of the blank cinnabar table, the total collapse of reality may ensue
You can also summon missingno by flying out of the safari zone to cinnabar. At least that’s how I remember doing it. I used to back up my save on some device that plugged into my GBC and then perform the glitch to get near infinite rare candy (or whatever item was in slot…8?)
Nintendo: no one will find out our secrets! We've hidden them too well, it'll be impossible! Lockstin: actually it'll be super easy. Barely an inconvenience. (Been watching too much Screenrant and Ryan George lately)
The reason for Cinnabar Island's plethora of glitches is that while Cinabbar island does have defined fishing encounters, it doesn't have any defined Pokemon encounters that are caused by surfing. And the very edge of the Cinnabar Island water is considered a part of the map. And the process of finding the data for what type of wild Pokemon should be encountered on the coast causes the glitches.
My favorite is that ever since Ash's Pikachu used thunderbolt or whatever on Rhydon, Rhydon can now have Lightning Rod as an ability. Another is when Ash was "training" Pikachu on the water mill to be stronger, he inadvertently created the Light Ball.
How MissingNo works: In Cinnabar island there is 1 tile of water acting as a ground tile, encountering pokemon on that tile has the chance to encounter the last pokemon you met, Talking to the old man starts a cutscene with a pokemon only supposed for the cutscene, and then use that 1 glitched tile on Cinnabar island, you could encounter that cutscene only pokemon, but because some parts of the data are re-used the data is invalid and all is left is a glitchy mess

@@costby1105 yes. That's how I caught most of the hard to find Safari Zone pokemon, like Chansey.

They don't even need to make it canon. Honestly just some easter eggs relating to glitches would be neat.

I like the idea of Missingno being an earlier version and after being disregarded finds a way to escape, roaming around Cinnabar.
I remember loving messing with the Missingno glitch when I was younger. Either catching it or using it to get 99x rare candies and Master Balls. Lol

This fact was random but fun

The plot thickens with Lockstin's backstory.
His formative introduction to the N64 occurred during a hospital stay in his youth, presumably something major enough as to have an extended stay that would necessitate some form of entertainment to preoccupy a child.
He's shared so much like in his weight loss video!
I didn't watch his weight loss video, so I don't know if he has type 1 or 2 diabetes. But if he has type 1, his diabetes coming to an apex leading to his diagnosis would be a cause of a long term hospital stay for a child
@@AbsolXGuardian he had a fissure in his intestines. But yes he has type 1.
Sometimes hospital stays aren’t major. My daughter has a hemangioma. It’s like a blood filled birth mark. Often called a strawberry birthmark. I had to stay with her in the hospital for 4 days while she started a medication to reduce her birthmarks size. They just wanted to monitor her and ensure she didn’t have an allergic reaction. i always liked the theory that the Dubious Disk had a computer virus on it, and that Porygon Z is Porygon infected or controlled by said virus.
My theories are the Deoxys one along with Porygon Z being attempt two to canonize Missingno.
And then they gave up and never thought of canonizing it via ultra beasts in Gen 7
Funnily enough the Porygon line and Deoxys have similar color schemes.
If Ross stole unfinished Porygon code and used that to develop the Dubious Disc, that would go a long way to explain the glitches in PorygonZ. It’s like using old mods on a game that’s been updated and patched several times. It can cause all sorts of conflicts and errors.
I know that to be true; I still have a GZDoom mod that worked with the first revision that I had downloaded, but long ago stopped working because I'm always upgrading the program.

hey since Porygon-Z is a corrupt version of Porygon-3
that means we still have yet to reveal Porygon-3
meaning Porygon-3 is yet another canon pokemon we know exists but don't know what it looks like just like The Original Dragon, and the true Corphish and Crawdawnt and there are more but those are the ones off the top of my head.
True Corphish and Crawdaunt? What do you mean by that, I'm not familiar. Also, I never thought of there being an actual Porygon-3, just Porygon-Z being the only result of a failed experiment. It's cool to think that there could be a real Porygon-3 though

Ghost type pokemon are known for being able to posses objects. Maybe a ghost type found the rest of the failed attempt to create porygon, posses it and then became a sentient glitch (a pokemon fused with an failed artificial pokemon).

Currently playing through Yellow for the VC and have done it a few times already.
i feel like Noggin should edit in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
also Fun Fact : MissingNo is actually in every game
you just need to find an encounter that is higher then the region dex number by glitches and homebrewing
Porygon-Z!"
Also, I also like the idea of MissingNo being some kind of conceptual legendary with the purpose of keeping the identities of pokemon seperate from each other or something, like a pokemon that inhabits the database of the universe.
XD
This man knows how to connect any two things together. It’s just a matter of when he connects Mewtwo and bastiodon to the Pokemon war
I really hope they came out with a “fixed” porygon evolution, maybe something like porygon-a as in alpha? I just think it would be cool
Is that not what porygon 2 is?
YES! I think that guy was the first UA-camr I ever subscribed to!
That would be cool
This is the Pokémon equivalent of sans is ness lol
Yep. But it does deserve it's place in the mythos of pokemon
Eh. It's more like making sense of a glitch instead of connecting to completely unrelated/detached characters
Hey, nice profile pic!
@@MidnightSky1821 Thanks
Not really. Sans is Ness connects two entirely unrelated games, while this one contextualizes parts of games within the same series.
You think Missingno. might have been the inspiration for Porygon Z entry?
It's a possibility-remember that the franchise was a decade old when Gen-IV came out and like World 36-1 (a.k.a. the Minus World) in _Super Mario Bros._ MissingNo. was a famous glitch.
In some cases you can trade missingno from gen one to another generation and get almost any other pokemon depending upon what you trade for it and what generation you transfer it to. The most common forms that I have seen are 112 Rhydon, 115 Kangaskhan, 137 Porygon, 233 Porygon2, and if you're particularly inventive even 494 Victini, enjoy the info.
This is wierd but i love missing N°
It would be so cool if it were included in a mainstream game beside gen 1
I like the idea that MissingNo was used as inspiration for Porygon Z in some way.
100% can confirm u can trigger this along the land on the way to the power plant as i had once done it and discovered it on accident as a child
Oooo second update u mentioned the safari part lol
Trying to make MissingNo canon was a herculean undertaking. Well done.
I've designed a creature based on my staring at Missingno's sprite and using my pareidolia skill to find familiar shapes.
The pokemon company should embrace missingno and incorporated into their lore, with this probably being the best way to do it. Excellent video as always!
The editing work here is a masterpiece.
Once made MissingNo pixel art on a MineCraft server.
Shortly after, the server started slowing down and crashing a bunch due to _unrelated_ issues. Yes.
And people scoff at me for naming my porygon “Glitch”
I dig the lore being built but was loosing my mind (jokingly) because every missingno I fought was over at Articuno's island not Cinnabar. Then I saw the "official" explanation which mentions the way I found him, the safari zone "trick"
If GameFreak knew how to have fun they would have recreated MissingNo in Let’s Go.
It's certainly only a theory and will always be one, but it's certainly a nice way to add Missingno into the lore.
Perhaps Porygon-Z’s erratic behavior is a result of it struggling for control while possessed by a very literal ghost in the machine.
cinnabar island suffers a couple of programming oversites that by themselves wouldnt be an issue, the first one is a blank encounter table, this was intentional since most towns dont have encounter data and means nothing happens even if the conditions are met,
the single strip of surfable land is where things get weird, its a map error where a small section of the water route got overlapped with the edge of the island area, this also wouldnt do anything by itself since there is no encounter table so nothing spawns there, but together those two issues create one of the most abused combos in the game and let you rewrite the blank encounter table with whatever you were in last
the reason cinnabar is special is because its the only spot with encounter tiles but no encounter table resulting is room for fun
this splits off into several other exploits but the one of importance in this case is the old man, his capture tutorial actually takes place in a mostly defined location so it has things like encounter data, the catch is that the encounter data for that area is a bit messed up and prone to errors and corruption partially based on things like your name, this is harmless since you cant explore the area and you will never activate the errors within...until you try taking that corrupted encounter data and writing it on top of the blank cinnabar table, the total collapse of reality may ensue
I’ve always thought it would be really cool if in a later game, Missingno would show up as an actual Pokemon.
I wasn't aware of this variant of Missingno. Imagine if Pokemon actually made a game surrounding glitch Pokemon
You can also summon missingno by flying out of the safari zone to cinnabar. At least that’s how I remember doing it. I used to back up my save on some device that plugged into my GBC and then perform the glitch to get near infinite rare candy (or whatever item was in slot…8?)

BadBoyHalo could literally be the fill-in for that last one
@@josephsouther9874 BadBoyHalo is an innocent bean and can do nothing wrong.

My theory on missingno is its a failed clone of mewtwo after mewtwo escaped and they attempted to make mew3 from mewtwos dna like they did with mew
I actually really liked the MissingNo/Dyoxsis theory. And it doesn't interfere with this head-canon either.
I remember using the surf glitch to get missingno off cinnabar in blue.
Its also what caused me to lose my save file for my very first pokemon run
My favorite is that ever since Ash's Pikachu used thunderbolt or whatever on Rhydon, Rhydon can now have Lightning Rod as an ability.
Another is when Ash was "training" Pikachu on the water mill to be stronger, he inadvertently created the Light Ball.
How MissingNo works:
In Cinnabar island there is 1 tile of water acting as a ground tile, encountering pokemon on that tile has the chance to encounter the last pokemon you met,
Talking to the old man starts a cutscene with a pokemon only supposed for the cutscene, and then use that 1 glitched tile on Cinnabar island, you could encounter that cutscene only pokemon, but because some parts of the data are re-used the data is invalid and all is left is a glitchy mess
Just realized, Porygon-Z being a Bug Type would be funny. I can see them doing it just for the joke.
I can too. I eventually found one, out near cinabar island. I really would like to see, fan art of porygon z, as a bug.
Well time for me to get scripting again :')
