The Yamaha is a cool steel shell for the spondookies. The brightest of the 3. The Mapex sounded very professional though. Nice meaty wood undertones with more clear ghost notes I think. The more expensive Yamaha snares are mighty fine, but the Stage Custom Steel jobby is lovely too
I have the Yamaha and I really like it. It has some real volume and crack to it when tuned. Thank you.

Yamaha 👍🏿
digging that yamaha
I love the Yamaha steel snare and the Mapex , wasn't too convinced with the Pearl
I love Yamaha and like Pearl, but the one that wins my vote is the Mapex, for the wood combination, the aesthetic, and the sound.
Im a pearl guy but that Yamaha is the Best of the three. Mainly because its got a great batter head
For me, the Pearl maple snare was the nicest.
My yamaha sounds fantastic got it for $79 😊
What's the conversation of pounds(£) to USD($)
I wish you would have thrown in the Ludwig 6.5 supralite .
What's the head you'd recommend for a Mapex Black Panther snare to give a big fat sound?
Matt Ricketts Anika Nilles always used a Evan Black Hydraulic Coated head. Sounded DEEEEP!
I'll stick with the Yamaha!
Pearl is a bit too ringy..
The same applies to their aluminium snares.
