Probly the most accurate representation on YT of what this kit really sounds like acoustically(without mic effects etc) new out of the box and tuned decently. Like the charisma of unboxing, that is something everyone enjoys, this vid captures it.
just bought this exact kit from a Guitar Center. It was a demo model in the drum room. I got it for $600. The shells were in brand new condition but the heads were beat up a bit so I just put on some Remos and I have to tell you, it ROCKS. Smallish set but killer sound. I actually like the snare. I should add that Guitar Center gave me some Zildjians to use for FREE! (hi-hat, crash, ride). I couldn't pass up this deal.
Always so impressed with how good Wuhans sound. The Kit sounds great too. The snare is definitely the weakest part which is pretty much on brand for the Stage Customs. I could never get mine to sound good no matter what I did. Get an old acrolite or something and you're golden.
I replaced my snare with a DW performance series snare drum, love it. I have had the Yamaha stage Custom kit for 5 years, I'm not even really a drummer but I wouldn't buy this kit again. the snare and the toms are all but horrible. I think the kick drum is really great and the floor tom sounds really good but but I would have been happier if I had just purchased a DW performance series from the get-go
Always scary to see a full 5piece kit come in a single box! I'm surprised by how much confidence these drum makers have in cardboard. Looks like yours survived the shipping just fine. Nice kit for sure!
@@mrtc29 I think I got one of the drop test samples. Cracked bass drum and lacquer damage on the floor Tom. Kept it anyway to practice my finish repair skills.
I got mine last month, i remember watching this and thinking i had to have this kit! Now i got it with a couple tom add-ons making it a 7 piece in classic white..love yamaha man! 🥁
That's the best sounding budget cymbal kit I've heard by far. Way to go my Corona virus central Chinese brothers! Ho Yeh!!!!( Cantonese for good stuff)Actually really nice. Everybody knows Yamaha SC is awesome. I just heard my SC bop kit is here. So stoked! That's a killer kit for your church!
We've actually moved to an electric kit inside this church since I made this video, but we're planning to go to a bigger building soon. I'm gonna check out the reso for sure!
For fatter , fuller , lower sound that’s amazing use 2 ply clear heads on the resonate side and evans hydraulic heads on batter side. No muffling required. Sounds great and lowers overall volume.
We changed to an electric kit since I made this video, but we're planning to bring this one back out when we move to a bigger building. We're definitely gonna try those heads!
I have the same kit except I use Sabian Cymbals. You can get the snare to sound great with a little trial and error type tuning. The snare likes to be tuned with both bottom and top heads fairly tight. Play for a while and the retune the snare drum. I backed the top head off a little and the snare wires not too cranked. It sounded great!
Amazing video! I might get a Yamaha Stage Custom drum set in the future if I save enough money in my school bank account. It’s my goal to earn money. That’s why this summer, I am working at a hotel during my summer program at my school and I’m making some money, and also, during my final year of my college program, I will be working at my school’s kitchen, which means I’m making a lot of money and by the end of next year, I will be graduating from my boarding school with all of the money that I have earned, which is such a big deal,
So it's been 2 years, I wonder how you like the kit after all this time. I have a Stage Custom kit, honey amber finish, for 5 yrs. I'm a guitarist so I don't play the drums often but when I do this is the last kit I really want to play. First thing I did was get rid of the snare and replace it with the DW performance series snare drum. The 10" tom sounds horrible to me so I don't use it. The kick drum sounds great, the floor tom sounds really good and the 10 inch Tom doesn't sound too bad. Because I'm not a drummer (though I have been paid to play the drums) I'll probably just replace one piece at a time going forward except for maybe the bass drum. I should have just bought a DW Performance Kit at the get-go and I'd be happy now. Peace out good luck with your music and I hope you're doing well
Let me tell you something. I am playing drums and i want to tell you that Yamaha stage is totally a kit you can use at gigs etc. the cool thing about drums is that you can make them sound good without having that much gear. The tuning is well as important ass the kit.
Amazing, have you managed to connect it with your analog mixer? If yes can you do a tutorial how you connected the drum and how you’ve tuned each instrument from the mixer. Thank you in advance, God bless
Stagg cymbals are kinda like wuhan . 80/20bronze made in wuhan too. But more model and mm uch higher end. I use wuhan stagg and kazsa or kasza another similar b20 chineese brand🎉 just look hundreds models stagg has. Amazon sells most them. Great value for cost🎉
Stumbled on your video. I’m considering this exact setup, except Yamaha hardware instead of the Tama. How are your impressions now that it has been a few days?
Honestly I like it more each time I play! I’ve had some time to do more tuning and now even the snare is really sounding good to me. The cymbals are still the best value per dollar in this setup though. Thanks for stopping by! 👍🏼
I just bought a 7-year old Stage Custom kit from a friend. I love the toms and the bass drum. The snare, in my opinion, is a piece of junk. Sorry, no offense to Yamaha. I love Yamaha drums. I’ve got a 6-piece Absolute Maple Hybrid kit and absolutely love it (snare and all)!!! But I’ve tried everything on the Stage Custom snare (upgraded heads, new snare wires, the works) and cannot get a decent sound out of the drum. I’m open to suggestions. I’ve been playing drums for 40 (yes 40) years, so I’m somewhat familiar with tuning them. But I’m at a loss with this snare. Rest of the kit is awesome!
Now that we've had this kit for a while I totally agree. The snare doesn't seem to ever cooperate regardless of tuning and such. I've always used big brass snares, but they're just way too loud for that room. I'm huge fan of the Ludwig Acrolite, so I think we're gonna give that one a shot.
I think the Tama is a little better yes. I don't think Yamaha makes bad stuff, but the Tama bass pedal and hi-hat stand are both built so well and feel great. Thanks for the question!
Hey! Have you checked the bearing Edge of the resonant side of the snare? I got the exact kit 5 months ago and just realized that it is completely flat on 2 sides of the bearing Edge, it doesn't have the angle all the way around, which cause the head to sit properly. 😕 Is it normal?
Agreed that 18 is too much, too much space required in vehicle and most stages, they also sound more dull. However the other commenter is correct, these are 17, strange depth size, tho I've owned this exact kit and the bass drum has a great balanced deep tone, you'd think your playing a high end kit 16 depth bass drum if weren't aware.

That's a huge compliment my friend. Thank you for that!
Makes me shiver the way you slam those boxes on that poor bare bearing edge
Amazing setup for the money. Always impressed by good Wuhan's
Nice to see a fellow drummer excited about his new drums, I’ve just ordered one, coming in white,😍
If this was my personal set I think I would have gone with white too! So rad you're getting a new kit! Thanks for stopping by :)

They drop test them from quite a height, I’ve seen it 😩

@@mrtc29 yea they drop them from space then Run it over with a military tank for that finishing touch

SICK! It's so nice to have your own nice kit. Glad I could help dude. Thanks for stopping by!
Just bought a 6 pc raven blk, cant wait to play it!
Enjoyable to watch new kit unboxing
Glad you had some fun! For real thanks for the comment :)
Another fun video, Eric! Going to share this one with my worship drummer son, who also got his first kit one Christmas! Thanks for making me 😁
I remember my first drum kit as a kid too! Glad you enjoyed this one 😊

Nice video, I’m just binge watching videos waiting for my stage custom
I bought the same thing but in cranberry red Yamaha makes great drums!!!
I think they're underrated for how good they sound! Especially that kick. Thanks for watching!
Hydraulics & reso7s Evans tom heads will be your best friend in small venues like this.
We've actually moved to an electric kit inside this church since I made this video, but we're planning to go to a bigger building soon. I'm gonna check out the reso for sure!
@@EricMakingWaves reso7s are a life saver for troublesome Tom's. The hydraulic batters will give the most control without the need for moon gel etc
great video !
how to get stereo sound, how do we separate left right speakers when toms are played in fills and rolls
Great video (content , comments and editing ) thank you

@@kingpants8764 22 inch bass drum
always exciting to unbox drums
I feel like that snare could be tightened up juuust a bit. That’d be my preference tho. I’m getting one in surf green 🙌🏼
Eric you're classic Bro!!
Nice. Keep on playing.

Man, i'm planning to buy this one, don't know how to choose between pure white or honey amber
Honey amber
How long did it take to put together? Thank you

Nice set but i like my kick drum mounted toms to be deep shell 12 "and 13".
Were you able to fit the box in your car??
Did the snare have a ring on it? Because I dig that snare sound 😍 gives me Jeff Porcaro vibes 🤗
Have you tried Big Fat Snare Drum Quesadilla or Drum Tortilla for lower volume?

I had that same exact kit but black but I had to sell it cause I moved but now I have to electric kits
You should do videos on how to play step by from a beginner level to a more advanced level
How good is it about ringing out when you play?
Apart from obvious desired resonation
Where did you got the drum set

They fit the drums into each other.
I know, it's freakin genius.
Cool set up!!!👍
Thanks! It was weirdly fun putting it all together.
What size floor Tom is that?
It’s 16x15. It’s got an incredible deep tone.
What size was that box?
Put a pillow in side of the bass drum it will give you a better acoustic

Ouch I cringed when you dropped boxes on the FT bearing edge.

Yes as it’s how it works along with the snare wire and the rim :)
That's called the snare bed . It's where the snares sit
it is supposed to be that way. Its a snare bed.
What Is (Nepali Price)
How much does a yamaha set cost?
Its like $710 I think for just the shell pack.
What the price bruh?😃
I clicked your video because Eric Hanson is my uncle's name.
Your uncle must be a cool guy.
Keep it real. ↪️
All day, every day.
Cymbal sound to loud and bright Should get a darker sound cymbal . Sabian HH. To blend with music well.
Needs more cowbell.
For sure.
Maybe someone should teach how to properly tune a bass drum head. The wrinkles on the top of the front head were cringe worthy mate. Ouch!
Put some pinstripes on them…you’ll thank me later…😄😛
18 is just too deep. 16 is pushing it
