I'm happy we have a spiritual successor to the blade guides from Xenoblade 2 Those were really fun to watch and learn more strategies about the game so I'm ready for this series(after I finish the game that is)
@@conorb.1901 ...I should probably mention, now that I reread this, but I *liked* Zephyr, and my disappointment was in the fact I would have to start playing as different classes to keep getting CP.
@@phineas81707 yeah, now that you say that I can see what you mean. It really doesn't help that none of the other defender classes are required, and only one of them doesn't hit like a pool noodle or struggle keeping aggro. The class distribution is kinda weird in that regard. Hopefully Ino's class is fun to use
Might I just say Enel, your thumbnails have gotten way better over the years and the fact that you pursue a frequent upload schedule even with the school year approaching is aspiring
I do like the weird implication that the party actually has the right sizes for everyone except Lanz, but insists on giving every member a jacket that’s one size too big
Due to Eunie's and Taion's ouroboros form having the party revive, I tend to have them both be tanks, so if all my healers die instantly because the enemy farted too hard, the surviving tanks can still resurrect everyone. And because tank classes bring back the highest point character in chain attacks, and Taion starting with the most points, more often than not, finishing a round with tank-taion will give me taion back, which I feel is very useful. Especially since I run triple healers for their revives, as party members can die quite easily in hard mode. I've also found that the instant aggro gem is useful for avoiding fights, if you get in an enemy encounter, you can just start the fight so the tank gets all the aggro, sheathe the weapon again and run away while the enemy attacks your tank instead of you
Additional note about why I mentioned triple healers there, there's a fairly high chance that the chain attack gives me back nothing but healers or characters with extremely low tactics points, resulting in the failure to complete the next round, especially if some party members are dead, which is why I feel like the tank-taion loop is useful for consistently, as well as Taion's score rising constantly as a result
I’ll be honest when both eunie and taion are tanks things go south extremely fast for me when they choose to interlink in the mid of the fight and leave the tram without tanks, usually everyone dies BECAUSE they interlinked ahahahh
Mio was the character I played as throughout the entire game. Not just because she’s my favorite character; her gameplay’s really fast and fluid. I ran a lot of evasion stuff with her and it was so satisfying almost never getting hit
Flash Fencer and Zephyr have been, by far, my favourite classes to play in this game so I really appreciate the guide! Combining my two favorite classes together looks godlike!
Honestly Monolith Soft not balancing anything in all the Xenoblade games just makes me happy! When challenge mode comes we’re about to see some not balance stuff vs not balance stuff
Ah yes, the guides for the classes started :D I’ve watched almost all of your Xenoblade 2 guides since I started it game 1 year ago, and I had fun watching them while completing the affinity charts. Also thanks for the great content.
Really cool guide - Re your comment asking for suggestions at the end, I'd love to see more in the way of how to think about using this class in the scope of whole teambuilding. What kind of team setups is it most effective for, what kind of enemies does this version of tanking work best against vs other tank setups. There were bits of this, but a whole section dedicated to it would be awesome. Could be this sort of discussion makes the most sense in separate party structure videos which bring together a few different class guides for specific use cases/enemies.
I'm still mid chapter 3, Zephyr is def my favorite class so far! Super fun to be able to spam arts like that. I like that this guide is accessible to early game players, appreciate your effort in avoiding spoilers as much as possible.
One suggestion I have for the class guides would be to maybe go into how useful the master skills and arts are potentially on other classes. Like for Zephyr, the spike damage master skill is pretty useless even on tanks (since not all of them even do evasion), but the Wide Slash master art can make for a really good fusion art on a tank if it's paired with an art with a long animation (ex. the Guardian Commander class' art with the 26ish cooldown and the awakened dmg bonus)
I'd say no more than adding a quick little part about how to set the class up to be AI controlled would be fine. Basically just alternatives to the art cancel items and gem.
I did NOT expect Zephyr to be so much fun to play as. I’m in Chapter 4 and Mio/Zephyr continues to be my go to playable role. Thanks a bunch for this guide!
I’m still on chapter three, but when I finish having each main character get each of the main six ranks to rank 10 I’ll use this build! Looking forward to have Break, Topple, or Smash/Burst on most characters
We're at the same point then. I'm also at chapter 3 and my main cast only needs to rank up to 10 one more time before they have rank 10 with all the 6 main classes.
consider making a video about explaining the differences between Kevesi classes & Agnus classes & how they should buff Kevesi classes in general or just save that & explain it in your official class rankings i wanna see the Best Class in the Kevesi Tier list & Best Class in the Agnus Tier list or just combine them together idk.
Actually the best attacker is unironically Noah's Swordfighter without lucky seven, which is a Kevesi class. You can check my video to see how broken it is.
@@mrbubbles6468i honestly want them to bring back auto attacking while moving only for the Kevesi classes since that's the xc1 counterpart that's not much to ask right or even able to do art to cancels without having to use fusion arts maybe even buff their damage after cooldown.
Love this guide. Super easy to follow. I suggest that you somewhat follow the order of the classes as they are listed. You could sorta group them by what chapter they are reasonably attainable and just pick which ones you want to do from there. This would make it super easy to follow along for those of us that haven't finished the game quite yet.
Thanks for all the helpful guides, this is my first xenoblade and from these guides I've been able to progress in a way more enjoyable way than just farming low level enemies
Very nice guide! One thing I would like to see in future guides is usefulness of the master arts and skills it provides. Like where glow ring could be a useful master art.
Honestly, this was a great guide! Limiting spoilers while still explaining the kit in lagom detail, then showing it all off in action. Thanks for all the effort, looking forward to 20 more of these!
I appreciate Enel's effort to make this guide as spoiler-free as possible which is insanely difficult since alot of powerful synergies are locked in progression.. Can't wait for you to make the build for the Archer class. Sh*t hits like a truck when your combo hits..
For this class i recommend switch the talent art because gemini strike and dominion flower are both ether attack's, and that doesn't make sense, since all the other arts are physical, putting Blosson Dance from Lone Exile is the best choice, it can be used more fast, does physical attack and boosts aggro, more viable in every way. PS: brazilian here, don't kick my ass for the english :v
So I recently started using Zephyr a lot more recently, but instead of this, my build is kind of a combination of your Lone Exile and Guardian Commander builds. I focused on maximizing my Critical and Block Rate in order to increase my recharge and survivability a ton, and I'm even running Deflector Field to give myself Awakening, which increases damage dealt, reduces damage taken, and increases recharge. Combining this with the rest of Zephyr's kit of low recharges and decent damage, and I have a tank that's good at keeping aggro and hard to kill. Fun fact, Mio in Zephyr and Lanz in Heavy Guard are tied for the second highest Block Rate in the game once upgraded (higher than Guardian Commander, actually).
That moment when aside from one other, this is the only tank class you like playing. It just feels so great to combo into itself and the fact that it's so quick. Then again, being fun to play just comes with being an evasion tank, I suppose.
really love the guide and has me thinking about certain class's in a more favorable light now thank you. your guide is very helpful and hopefully we can see the rest on here before too long. i would maybe add effective alternative build styles and alternative gem and accessories choices just in case people like what your putting up but maybe want a little something different. good content
Thanks for these guides. They are extremely helpful and I always learn something from them. There are a ton of options so these guides really give me something to work toward. I really appreciate the work that goes into these videos. I'm still in chapt 4 but having a blast ranking up each class I have so far with each character.
Great stuff and right on time for me, almost finishing the game and I really want to tackle the superbosses and optimally build my characters, thanks for the video!
Hi there! Just wanted to say how well put together this guide is. I definitely learned a lot! It's super in-depth, but you didn't waste any time at the beginning, and I appreciate that conciseness. The guide is just about perfect and I don't think you want them to go any longer, especially if you do one for every class. The only very minor suggestions I would give are to maybe give some alternatives in the arts/gems/accessories set up if the character will be AI controlled. You could literally just put up the screen of the build and just say a couple quick words. I don't think we need much explanation. You did do this, but I think it will be helpful in all guides going forward, but mention which other classes or skills in the party pair nicely with the class being showcased and for the hero classes, which of the main characters are the best fits for the class. Again, super simple and quick. Lastly, this might be a stupid question b/c I'm not that good at this game lol, but why is Senna your healer and Eunie an attacker? I would have guessed they'd be reversed. Is there something about each that makes them better suited for those roles or were you just having fun? :) Thanks again and keep up the good work!
i knew it...i am 70 hrs in, and Zephyr was still the best evasion tank for me lol....probably the best tank overall. I guess i can stop looking to see if any tanks are better lol. would love to see Full Metal Jag....easily my fav attack class for me so far.

The most helpfull tip from the video was surpisingly the fact that you can turn talent art animations off. Didn't even think there was option like that. Thanks Enel! (Other stuff was good too)
I think you could add to which uroborous characters is good with the class not counting the inheritor. Like noah, unie and sena are good using sephyr in case the player wants to mix things up. Your opinion on the outfit. Or any refenreces the arts make to past games.
ohh yeaaaah! It's that time for guides again! And boi do I need some because most of my fights have been sloppy XD. (to be fair I probably shouldn't just willy nilly put together a nonsense party balance when taking side quest bosses 5+ lvls above mine in hard mode and taking an eternity to take them down).
I wish monolith soft would balance dodge tanking as opposed to damage tanking. The heavy defender is just so slow that it hardly gets anything done. It's just Reyn from 1 except without crazy damage.
Really enjoyed this video. It might be helpful to have very quick recommendations for early/mid game equips and so forth as that was a part of why I watched. (Though there are also other sources onlne for that... I just trust you more not to spoil the story).
I love it when one of the starting classes ends up being one of the best classes. Just beat chapter 5 but cannot wait to get these character broken af haha
So far I actually found Yumsmith of all things to be pretty fun playing, and I've had fun slowly rotating each character through classes to try different setups and see who I like as what. Love how flexible stuff is so we don't have another Sharla (from XC1) that gets kicked to the curb because they suck. Should have just made Sharla foster another class smh
Bro, same. Yumsmith's arts are so fun. The front dmg up one took me by surprise, but it pairs so well since you can boost your tanks' crit rate while getting that position hit
I love this class guide! If I had to suggest one thing to add for future guides though, perhaps an acquisition guide? Obviously it doesn't matter for Zephyr since both it and its level 20 limit break are gained through story progress, but perhaps for classes you get from sidequests or classes who you get level 20 from sidequests, you can also do a brief little spiel detailing how and where to find the class/its upgrade and the prerequisites before diving in to the "how to use the class" section?
Looking forward to more of these guides, absolute timesavers! Wishing to see one for Signifer and Soulhacker especially. And as an elated side note- Thank the gods! Every class is accessible through gameplay! No more mindless RNG core crystal opening.
I run Zephyr with Eye for Weakpoints and Frenzied Combo. With Lapidarist's Beaming Edge Skill active, only 42 % base Crit Rate is needed to make this translate to 100 % effective/buffed Crit Rate - and some of Zephyr's Arts are multi-hit, too. Turns Zephyr into a monstrous spam machine - and it makes the Stance Art Speed Demon viable, since it upgrades Zephyr's damage output _so much..._ in turn making Zephyr more durable in the postgame.
Firt of all thank you for your guides, you really are amazing. Would be really cool if you showed a screen with a list of the best skills (and which class to get them from), accesories, master arts, fusion arts and gems so we could screenshot it and use it later

Weaker versions of most of these accessories should exist outside of chaotic memory, but there should still be decent replacement options
I love this kind of content, thank you brother
It begins
So it begins the class guides I'm looking forward for the soul hacker guide
This tank class is so good you could get away with only having one tank in the party using a person on zephyr.
Mio is my favourite character. I am ready and Gormotti for her builds!
Nice guides keep it up man!
Can't wait to find the quest to bring this class to lvl.20. it's probably my favorite to use, it's so fun
Looking forward to more of these guides, absolute timesavers! Wishing to see one for Signifer and Soulhacker especially. And as an elated side note- Thank the gods! Every class is accessible through gameplay! No more mindless RNG core crystal opening.
Pog Mio
I run Zephyr with Eye for Weakpoints and Frenzied Combo. With Lapidarist's Beaming Edge Skill active, only 42 % base Crit Rate is needed to make this translate to 100 % effective/buffed Crit Rate - and some of Zephyr's Arts are multi-hit, too. Turns Zephyr into a monstrous spam machine - and it makes the Stance Art Speed Demon viable, since it upgrades Zephyr's damage output _so much..._ in turn making Zephyr more durable in the postgame.
I immediately went to this at the beginning of the game when it became available.
Thank you for these videos!
This is definitely my favorite of the starting classes. No wonder Dromarch was so lackluster in XB2, Nia was using him wrong!
I need more class guides 😄
Firt of all thank you for your guides, you really are amazing. Would be really cool if you showed a screen with a list of the best skills (and which class to get them from), accesories, master arts, fusion arts and gems so we could screenshot it and use it later
