  • With the popularity of James Bond and Dr No in 1962 ,Patrick McGoohan's Danger Man TV series was resurrected in 1964 and called Secret Agent for the American market.Taking a much more serious approach to the spy genre,it was nonetheless a hit and catapulted McGoohan into major star status. Many of the actors that appeared in the Bond series showed up in Secret Agent, including a bevy of beautiful actresses, usually British, attempting to use their wiles and charms on John Drake. He dealt with them in his own inimitable style.

To me, no other actor can hold a candle to McGoohan. His contempory rival Roger Moore despised and envied him. McGoohan turned down the role of Sundance opposite Paul Newman's Butch Cassidy and Kelly's Heroes. Of course, he turned Bond down as well. Thank heaven for Danger Man, The Prisoner and Ice Station Zebra! Like Cary Grant, Eastwood, Burton, Terrence Hill etc...etc, the camera loved him and he knew it. No6 was Drake. The Prisoner's opening sequence loses all its impact and excitement if McGoohan's portraying someone anonymous and the series contains 3 clues to connect No6 with Drake! BCNU...

This was a lot of fun. Went by a bit fast, but just had to watch it again, right?
    Thank you.

I've liked everything that I've seen Patrick McGoohan play. Also, great way you presented the video.

Thanks Tully.Certainly Patrick brought all his creative powers together when he made the penultimate spy series, the one he's associated with the most,,The Prisoner.

Great video, thanks for posting. They just don't make them like Patrick Mcgoohan anymore. Interesting clip of Benedict Comberbatches mom, as he sort of reminds me of Patrick McGoohan.

+Lynn Plummer I wouldn't be surprised if Benedict Cumberbatch was a Patrick McGoohan fan when he was growing up. It's documented that Cumberbatch admired Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes. Great influences!

They forgot one of the best lines, Drake sitting in his car, women comes up trying to solicit, Drake says, "it's late, I'm tired, and you bore me" then drives off.

A Clockwork Orange is The Prisoner and DM on big screen. Why I say this? Cause. I can see Kubrick trying to convince McGoohan to be the star of CO.

Benedict is such a great actor.I really like his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, who along with Tarzan,I consider one of the first super heroes.Sherlock (1886) and Tarzan (1912) predate Superman (1928) by many years. They may not have had the tights and cape of the modern super heroes, but they had that individualistic power that set them apart from the common man.

Huge mistake not picking Jane for The Avengers not to say anything against Thorson she wasn't my cup of tea but regardless of that the Avengers would have gone on to more legendary greatness like the regulars if Jane merrow would have been taking over the role and I believe she should have taken it over as mrs. Peel and I created a new character because that's what you love about the Avengers and Jane would have slipped into the character after a few episodes and I believe that it would be the kind of like a who is better you know Sean Connery or Gregory Peck as James Bond right? Everybody knows Peck was the superior Bond. But anyway be that as it may a tube of superglue, 3000 years of Peace in the universe, and a motorhome. What do they all have in common? Jamie Rose ass would look great on any of those things. No I said Jane merrow Jesus Christ how many things can this voice text read wrongly? Is a question probably better off not asked so I'll leave it to you people. Jane or Linda? The marrow ass or no ass? Actually I don't know I never really paid attention to the first one without mrs. Peel. And it pretty much ducked. looked.as if she should have been apologizing for being late it's
