  • Disney is changing the franchise from majorities to minorities and suffers badly. Eurovision is also doing everything to slowly loose the majority instead of doing the opposite, why is that? I am talking about this in this podcast!

Eurovision is my passion. Eurovision was my work and I am still gladly part of the professional community of this project. I started at Eurovision 2016 as Czech Head of Delegation. Such a Eurovision story! Form Eurovision in Sweden I went to antoher ESC experience. Kiiv 2017 Eurovision. This was my first and last failiur. Sometimes you need to learn trough losing even it is not plasant. We ended up 13 in the semifinal, second best score of Eurovision Czechia back then. But after this we established ESCZ national selection format. It was mostly held online. Because of this we found Mikolas Josef who went 6th at Eurovision 2018 in Portugal. Than 11th with Lake Malawi, at Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Eurovision story is crazy. After finding all candidates and songs (-1) for ESCZ 2020 I resigned and left the television for working freelance.
Not to stop being part of Eurovision, I created this channel as I have an urge not to do just Eurovision Reactions from a different perspective. But also to do national selection reactions, watch others how they do their craft and also give a different approach for Eurovision fans.
I am very glad was part of many eurovision juries. Mostly in national selection and since 2017 I was in MGP Norway, Eurovision Malta, UMK national selection Finland. Juror in Melodifestivalen 2016. Biggest national selection. Also helped Eurovision Ireland, Eurovision Estonia, Eurovision Azerbaijan and many others.
Just amazing to be part of this community, so check my Humans of Eurovision, check my Eurovision reaction videos.

I've only heard bad things about Star Wars -Acolyte - so I have avoided it entirely!!! I've re-watched the LOTR trilogy movies about 3 times this year because of how bad movies are nowadays.
    Have a great day!!

I saw the third epi today and it is just a sad to watch - no imersse, bad acting, bad script, bad music... you can actually name it. Cuz the focus went clearly somewhere else than the important essence of film making

    Hi, Jan!
    I have a few questions.
-Which standards have been lowered by the EBU over the years, and when did this lowering of standards start, in your opinion?
-If I understood you correctly, the focus is too much on inclusivity. What were the specific changes the EBU made to accomplish more inclusivity.
-How much of the two previous points can be attributed to the EBU and how much to the hosting broadcaster, do you think?

      Hey!
The first is - getting rid of live vocal to optional, secodn and much more drastic is juries out of the finals. This goes to EBU organs with cooperation with countries. And there is the bigger lowerage as this is out of control from EBU but the standards on artits in general lowered as its now the era to offend anyone, to have lesser requirements on them, not giving the right feedback, so there is no pressure for improvement. Most of those things I am talking are actually pointed this way. After all for quality are responsible countries, not EBU, which cannot tell countries what to do.
The second is also more about the countries and producers in general, looking for some sociaty balance but not quality on the first place.
And that comes to your third - you saw, swedes did amazing job in all around, but the real important is music itself and for those are responsible countries. If they were stripped the challange of jury check in semifinal, this also told them, that skill in music is not a necessary skill to succeed. Which for the brand as Eurovision can be devastating long term. This combination.
And than, when politics of any kind also overcomes this, Eurovision has serious problem. As after all, if this project should rise and the brands power also, such things dont belong.

      @JanBors Hi,
Thnx for taking the time to answer my question!
So, if I understand you correctly,
-the EBU can't do much to improve quality. It's all the delegations/broadcasters/countries that decide who they send.
-You wrote something about offending others, which has become more important than quality. Do you have an example of that. And do you think some delegations/countries deliberately want to offend certain people or groups?
-The rule change of taking the jury out of semi-finals. Wasn't that done because of the criticism from fans last year? So, the EBU decided to give more power to fans instead of jury?

EBU can form the rules but the quality is up
to countries themself. Its a connected story. Countries want to reach the final, producers will mostly try ro find the most easiest way. Not all but most. That means a big approach difference. Who will pass through x Who is the best. Also lowering the standards by EBU rules changes (but accepted by countries, so again, its a consensus) lowered the needs of seeking for the best to most funny - you'll see it next year very probably. We already saw it this yeae with more joke acts than ever.
I am not sure I wrote about offending but for sure some countries producers believes that the contest in LGBT and all its variants contest. Making pleasing acts for a community with the accent of f.e. men sex in showers, men striptease in the brothel. But also puting topics in with are sociately nice but the way they execute feels already like virtue signaling than a nice important message. Than pleasing the minorities instead of bringing quality seems like a goal. We see that results of those experiments are not quite perfect, when its just about it. But the whole contest looses quality and credit because of those also. So yes, I think certain countries want to please a group of people liberately without thinking of their responsibility towards the project.
It was because of frauds. Honestly hardcore fans were bitter a long time knowing exactly no mechanism how those things really work. The issue was accusation of corruption of some countries and that they really influenced their juries to vote certain way. As there were always such doubts, the decision was to cancel them in semifinals. Results only in public voting. No balance and we have two different contests now. One which needs to please just fans, other which is suppose to be quality focused. Issue with this is, that producers want to pass the to finals. And results easily shows them, that fan is an easier factor, especially, when they cannot count on neighbour voting and diasporas. So by simple logic, quality seeking is not a priority in the process. We saw it fully this year. Also a year which generated exactly zero hits.
And that comes from countries, who lowered the standards, some of them simply dont know what they want, just doing a job, some has a vision and some just want to pass trough. Some wants to go with LGBT agenda without thinking if the artist can even sing. And as a mix - no hits. Instead of the preasure on quality go higher and demand higher, it actually goes the opposite direction.
