      Did it help you throw harder at all? Good to hear about decreasing the pain. Did it decrease pain on fastball too or just breaking balls?

      @Big D Johnny does it feel easier throwing too? Like more repeatable? Any cues you recommend? I've heard some people think about leaving their arm relaxed behind them as they turn

    Hey I would really appreciate your help on one thing… I get really good hip shoulder separation with scap load, but it is usually one camera frame away from my front foot landing. By the time my front foot it down, my top half os already back in line with my hips. Is there something that I should think about to help get my front foot down a split second earlier? I feel like an idiot for not being able to figure it out. I’m sitting 78 and I feel like I am losing a ton because I have literally 0 hip shoulder separation when I land. Thanks

    Do you think the main driver "engine" where throwing velocity is generated is lower half or upper (pec, lat, shoulder)? Catcher's throw in the upper 80's from their knees right? No lower half involved. Interested to hear your thoughts...

    • @treadathletics
      @treadathletics  2 роки тому +6

      One of the ironies of pitching mechanics is that ~80% of the velocity comes from the upper half, but focusing exclusively on the upper half can actually prevent that other 20% from working properly. Relaxing the arm as the lower half works enables better sequencing + efficiency.
      This is why players can throw 80 from their knees but still communicate feeling lower half driven w/ the arm being "along for the ride" when throwing 95+ mph. The 80 mph from your arm will be there off the mound. The question is do you get +5 mph from your lower half or +15?
      There is a time and place for arm action drills, but we need a plan to integrate those in with the lower half, and ideally get to a point where there isn't a conscious focus on the upper half during the full delivery.

      @@treadathletics Scott - My son is 13 and did most of these throughout last week. I I saw him warming up pre game with the scap dig, indian club and weighted ball 8’s. After a couple of side-eyes from his coach he proceeded to strike out 9 and picked up 2-3mph on his FB. He said “I like the way they make me feel.” THANK YOU.

      You may not be properly laying back, which could be a result of a lack of elbow flexion, pushing arm action, etc. Here are some videos we've made about arm action. Feel free to try to diagnose your situation, but it'll be much more efficient to hop on a call with us and discuss your current situation:

I'm cleared to do chest press which I haven't done in a while and I'm a little sore. sometimes I mimic throwing in the mirror (gotta scratch the itch) and Ive had some pain when trying to pull from behind. its imbetween the peck and shoulder. is that the labrum or a tight peck?
