5'4 girl here with a Himalayan and I'm SO relieved to know I'm not the only one having trouble scooting it around a parking lot 😅 but yep, daily rider and not a speed demon at all...also my first bike!!
@@praveenmehta3 both the Trident and Himalayan have similar height/weight ratios, so it shouldn't be a problem! It's also easier to ride them with motorcycle boots that have thicker soles too, I never ride without mine for that reason. Trident looks nice!
Yeah, they are heavy. Weight would be the big thing I would change about my Himalayan. Of course I could achieve essentially the same result by going on a diet, so....
Got one in April, 2020. Rode from North Carolina to Oregon on the Trans America Trail that August. Amazing bike for shorter people. Mine did come with a center stand. It handles very well off road. Overheated going up Engineer's pass in Colorado due to lack of oxygen. Rested for about 10-20 min and thumped the rest of the way up.
The Himalayan was my first bike. I'm 6 feet tall, it was awesome for me. Wind deflection was a bit of a problem, because the wind hit me straight in the helmet, but otherwise I thought it was an excellent bike. I've since traded bikes and ride an Interceptor 650, but miss the comfort and off-road capability of the Himalayan.

Love my Himalayan. I started riding last year and it's my first bike. I've found it very confidence inspiring and a fun bike that I can take up into the mountains here in Montana. I've got lots of camping trips planned for it this summer. Look forward to more videos!

Lovely review, especially to hear comparisons with other bikes. I've just bought one in the UK; ours don't have a choke. I had an issue with cold starts. I purchased a 2022 Himalayan in January. The Pine Green version. You're observations about the motorcycle and in particular, the assessment of the "humble throttle" are dead on. My experience matches what you've described. The major differences are that I am almost 6'3" and I can put the motorcycle on the center stand! Thanks for sharing your experiences, I look forward to your videos.
I believe this bikes primary reason for existence is off road 'mountain riding'. A few yers ago a friend rode an Enfield Bullet in the Himalayas. It was a 'Holiday' organised by a local company.( India) ....He said the scenery was spectacular but the ride very gruelling, This on a motorcycle whose primary function was road use. Enfield appear to have addressed this with a newer more dedicated model. He rides a Enfield Bullet in UK now, the same model he once climbed the Himalayan mountain range.

Doodle - You've totally grown up ... motorcycle-wise ... since your S-40 days. You have far more cruising experience and confidence now. Keep it coming.
Hi Doodle, always move the bike around on the left side, the same side as the side stand. Modern side stands either retract immediately when there is no weight on it or retract when you least expect it. The bike should always fall into and not away from you for better control. Centre stands are generally easy you just need to work on your technique. With your body facing the bike at the point where the fuel tank meets the saddle, hold the left handlebar grip and place your right hand on a bar at about waist height (slighty higher on the Himalayan), push the bike away from you slighty and retract the side stand. Push the centre stand down and ensure that both legs engage on the ground and lift your head up. Now take a breath, breathe out slowly and push the stand down whist at the same time lifting with your right hand. This technique works for all bikes I've come across in over forty years, the Himalayan is a breeze compared to a full size cruiser / bagger. Go on, you can do it.
Very good review of the RE Himalayan. Just to clarify, they are only carbureted in India, and fuel injected in rest of the world. Very popular in Europe, Australia, Asia and have a many positive reviews from actual owners. The other positive feature is the price. Almost no other manufacturer can compete , and they have a 3 year warrantee. Thanks and stay safe. 🏍👍🇨🇦
Awesome video! We purchased one recently for my GF. Picked it up while we were out of state then rode it to the beach 115 miles. We both ended up riding it on the Oregon backcountry trails and back up to Seattle. Amazing to ride just for adventure or cruise. I'm 6'1 and plan on getting another for the two of us.
I have a convertible mini. Dropping the top on the way into work just gets me in a great mood. Going home with the top down relieves the stress of my work day so my wife doesn’t have to deal with a grumpy hubby. I can’t wait to get another bike.
A tip for moving any bike around, always stand on the same side as the side stand, if you catch it on something and it flips up you’ll have a major problem if you’re on the other side.
Absolutely. Hip against left side of the bike. Move it about. Right foot is there to put sidestand up or down... Motorcycle learner test no.1.. even before you get to sit on the bike and turn it on. 😁
Quickest way to drop a bike pushing it around is to push it with the side stand down. Always put the side stand UP so that you can lean the bike slightly towards you supported by your body weight (on your hip as stated in the comment above). Now you have control of the bike and will not likely drop it. If the side stand is down you can't lean it towards you, you wind up with it vertical and the second it leans away from you - even slightly you're done. It's going to the ground away from you - no way to catch it.
When I went to Vespa Marietta to reserve my Himalayan (about 9-10 weeks ago) there was a red one in the showroom. It was the last Himalayan they had in stock and I wanted it but the sales guy said it had just been sold. I wonder if it's the one in your video. Anyway I've got mine now and it's brilliant. You do need to ride it offroad to get the full experience; it's kind of like the Land Rover of bikes.
Purchased mine at Vespa M in April 2021. Considering a 3-4 month USA summer trip and wondering about all day comfort when loaded and power when loaded. Your thoughts?
just bought the same!! love it. sometimes shifting 3 to 4 is a bit clonky, other then that, dome some gravel, some rain, with full loading, and first oil change ar 300 miles. love it. Nice Channel!
I too couldnt get the bike on the center stand at all in the beggining, but its all technique. Watching a few tutorials on youtube made me realize how its properly done;) Thanks for another awesome video, esspecially one with the himalayan, the lovely bike i own
I have a Himalayan and the center stand is standard. I have those mirrors and they’re made by Double Take Mirrors. That switch is an enricher which Enfield says must be used when the bike is cold. My bike is cold blooded and needs 2-3 restarts.
I bought a used one today for a weekend home, that has a long gravel driveway. Handles non paved lanes and off road fine . I am short legged. I can handle it no issues.
Awesome review Doodle! I need to do my 5000 kms owners review on my Himalayan! Thanks for the tips on how to! I will do it in spanish, since I'm in the Dominican Republic.
Hi Doodle, I liked this review a lot, and we can always rely on an honest opinion from your highly respected channel. It's nice to have a girls aspect, with the increasing numbers of girl riders, they can relate to you. I like the looks and it's place in the mid power band, could be popular with beginners. I look forward to seeing anything you test drive, but I would love to see you test ride an electric motorcycle, because as strange as it seems, they will be our future!
My current and first bike is a Versys-X 300. It has a little less torque than the Himalayan (26 Nm vs 32 Nm or 19 lb.ft vs 23 lb.ft), but more power (40 HP vs 24 HP). The Versys is a little taller than the Himalayan (84,5 cm vs 80 cm or 33.3” vs 31.5”) and I’m only 5’8”, I can’t flat foot on both feet. But I managed to learn to ride it. So, definitely Himalayan is a good first bike. Maybe for 5’6” it’s already ok
The Versys 300 is a brilliant bike. If I'd been able to test ride one before I'd put a deposit on a Himalayan, I'd probably have bought it instead. Maybe next bike.
The only people who think this bike is good are people who can't afford anything better. It's literally about the worst ADV bike you can get by every measure except price
I just bought the Himalayan last Friday. I rode it down from Albany to nyc. Going on the highway sucked because it seemed like everybody was overtaking you at 65+ mph. The whole time I was averaging 55. So far riding in the city wasn’t bad. It felt very tame. I haven’t had a passenger yet in the city. But I’ll have one soon when I have time with the weather being nice. It’s a much more comfortable ride than a 1000rr
crazendisturbed Take a little care with running it in, change gear often and the bike will pay dividends. Just be aware it's a Long stroke single, a lazy engine but a great workhorse and decent two up. Enjoy the bike!
My wife who is 5'4 and light gets her gs500f onto the centre stand by concentrating her weight onto the right foot that is on the centrestand and then pulling the bike up to increase the weight downward onto the centrestand foot. She is literally standing on one foot on the centrestand with her left hand on the steering for stability and her right hand under the seat on a piece of frame pulling more weight downward onto her right leg with the left leg hanging in mid air.
Great vid. Those little weird red bottles under the seat is heavy duty Loctite. When applied to the threads of nuts and screws, it keeps them from vibrating loose. Very appropriate and useful for any Royal infield motorbike.
I laughed at the sight of TWO bottles of locktite and then came down to the comments to look for like-minded viewers. Ironically, I had to scroll for quite a while just to find your comment.
Nice video Doodle. Good to see the bike from a small person's perspective. I am a 66 year old male of small build, not so strong as I used to be. So although I am not so good looking as you, my needs and interests are probably similar to yours. I liked the close up of the dash. Never realised they had a compass. However, I believe that the Indian market Himalayans also have petrol injection, not carburettors. Incidentally, my BMW K75 (1988) also has fuel injection with a choke lever. Good luck with your full time UA-cam project.
This is actually one of the shortest, if not THE shortest adventure or dual purpose bike in the 400cc+ range of bikes. Even the 300cc bikes (KLX300 and CRF300L) are 33.9-34.7 inches seat height. The Yamaha TW200 is about the same at 31.1, and the XT250 at 31.9, but the Suzuki DR200 is 33.3,the Kawasaki KLX230 is 34.8 and the KLX250 is 35", only the VanVan 200 is the only one shorter at 30.3. Of course we are talking dual purpose bikes which is comparable to most adventure bikes. You rode an adventure bike that is one of the shortest seat heights on the market.
I liked this review. Some of the best reviews of bikes are from people who ride types that are outside their general preference. Seems to be more honest without preconceived expectations. I’ve been a believer since the surge in ADV riding took off, that you can easily throw a boat load of cash at this and only to find out it may not be for you long term. I think the Himalayan provides a super price point to give it the old college try. The worst thing to happen is to decide it’s not for you. Given the current market on used bikes, I think one would be hard pressed to lose more than $1000.00 on it after one year. If that’s the case, it’s cheaper than renting one. Keep up the good work. Love the honesty.
Loved your video. I bought a 2020 Himalayan about a year ago in Utah- I think it was one of the first sold here and I love it. I'm a big old guy that likes to ride on and off road. So far it has carried me over anything I've had the guts to try. I'm an avid fly fisherman and I use it to take me to remote trout streams in the Utah mountains. I also enjoy the hundreds miles of desert dirt trails and roads just out my back door in Utah. If I could change anything about the Himalayan it would be to go from the five speed to a six speed tranny, not so much for a higher top speed although that would be nice, but I would like a slightly lower slow speed for some of the off road riding I do. Other than that it is a wonderful bike.
@@mark.e.p There is no other way to do it! I first had a Test Ride of about 3hrs and I was convinced after about 40minutes. Get a Test Ride and give the bike a good work out!
Absolutely spot on the comment on the throttle; very forgiving. Alongside the low power, low seat height, slender profile, upright position, relative low weight, this is probably one of the best "proper" beginner bike on the market. (cheap to buy too....) Owned one three years ago, when returning to motorcycling. I recently upgraded to an Africa Twin 1100, via an Interceptor 650 and a Triumph Street Scrambler 900cc. (yes I've had four bikes in three years...lol). If I have the money and space, I would have kept the Himalayan as a second bike. Love the quirky look and the thumping of the one cylinder engine. Good review, well done.
the brackets up front are for carrying extra containers of fuel thats what I've seen anyway I suppose they would work for a # things we actually have a RE dealer 90 miles away need to go check them out I like the looks of them and they won't break the bank get 2 of them two REs that is they build several different models
Talking royale Enfield, i think you sould test the interseptor and the continental GT. Btw the sneak peeks made me excited about whats coming up un the Chan nel👌
Great review Doodle!!! I love all of the Royal Enfield bikes. The Himalayan is huge in the Asian markets. It's the right size and can go just about anywhere. It's inexpensive and cheap to ride. Great job on this one Lady!!! 🙌👏🤙👌🖖✌👍👋🙂
I got my himalayan a little less than a month ago and I completely agree about how the leaning is really awkward,I've hit the foot pegs a couple times now.
That's saying something when he didn't want you in the picture. Maybe he didn't want to have to try and explain to the significant other he really was taking a picture of the motorcycle:) It is an interesting bike particularly for the price.

The biggest unresolved debate in my comments section 🤪
Greetings from Alabama. Just discovered your channel today, and I absolutely love it. Great work!
Ahhh it must have been!! 😃
Purchased mine at Vespa M in April 2021. Considering a 3-4 month USA summer trip and wondering about all day comfort when loaded and power when loaded. Your thoughts?
That trip will be summer of 2022!
just bought the same!! love it. sometimes shifting 3 to 4 is a bit clonky, other then that, dome some gravel, some rain, with full loading, and first oil change ar 300 miles. love it. Nice Channel!
It was nice of the guy to Doodle proof the bike for you with all the crash bars.😁
🤪
Great video. Good information (real rider details), shots and just right video time.
I too couldnt get the bike on the center stand at all in the beggining, but its all technique. Watching a few tutorials on youtube made me realize how its properly done;)
Thanks for another awesome video, esspecially one with the himalayan, the lovely bike i own
Ahhh as I was editing that I thought that! Technique > strength too often in life
Not just a great video but a master class on how to make this type of video. Brilliant presentation, keep up the good work.
Great video, the Royal Enfield singles seem to have a loyal following, worldwide.
The parellel twins are awesome too
You have come along way from your first posts......great job.
I have a Himalayan and the center stand is standard. I have those mirrors and they’re made by Double Take Mirrors. That switch is an enricher which Enfield says must be used when the bike is cold. My bike is cold blooded and needs 2-3 restarts.
Whoa!! Reptilian bike
That’s where my family is from! 😃
@@DoodleOnAMotorcycle That is awesome! Come to ride in the DR!
Got mine 2022 edition Himalayan recently and absolutely loving it.
Doodle, Nice review on the Royal Enfield Himalayan. I enjoyed it a lot. Have a great weekend.
That's the perfect bike for me. Watching from the Philippines. Ride safe
Nice to see a good review on this bike, since most UA-camrs just crap on Royal Enfield without any explanation
The only people who think this bike is good are people who can't afford anything better. It's literally about the worst ADV bike you can get by every measure except price
@@luisdetomaso2224 I'm 78 and this bike suits my riding style just fine. 45 years ago would be a different story.
Dayum how do you really feel 😅
@@ronaldgordon8988 Go test ride a Yamaha Tenere 700 or KTM 390 Adventure and then come back here and tell me that you like the Himilayan better
@@luisdetomaso2224 Read my comment. 40 years ago I would be interested in those machines. Now I want what is better for me, not a better bike.
Royal Enfield bikes are for sale all over the USA. They are fuel injected bikes in India also.
I never realised how cool those dials are at night! Awesome bike.
You are strong enough to put a bike on the center stand. Its 90% technique.
Yep, it it falls on top of you, you know your technique sucks.!
😅😅😅
Absolutely, it's just technique. Once you get the hang of it, practice, no problemo. 👍
@@CraigSNZ well Doodle, just a quarter of an inch in it.....😁
Not my cup of tea but what a beautiful, old school look to that bike.❤️
Thanks for your take on this capable bike.
Happy Trails
6:48 Just one observation. The center stand comes stock, or at least it did on mine in Brazil!
Center Stand and Side Stand both are stock on most bikes Made In India (if not on all). All the Royal Enfields have both stands as stock.
@@cg.maniac yes.... Indians prefer practicality first.....
Wow! Been a while since I saw a Doodle video. The sound quality is amaaazing now!
Cool review. I’ve always been intrigued by the RE bikes. Now go find an Interceptor 650 because that’s the RE that I’d buy.
Your videos are very well edited, entertaining and informative. The little red tubes are Loctite it prevents nuts from loosening.
Doodle every girl that rides is cool, but you are super cool.
Amazing you r riding on the same rds i ride w no traffic! Lucky girl.
Doodle is so beautiful!
Love your stuff! Fun to see ya come a long way; keep on truckin'!
Plan to be in Utah on my Hym. Also avid ffman. Would you share ur fav mountain streams?
Top notch review. Well done Amiga. Thank you.
Bought my Himalayan just a couple months ago as a second bike. I like it so much I'm tempted to sell my CB500X.
Really? I was thinking of getting a Himalayan too. Sat on one recently and liked it, maybe l need to test ride?
@@mark.e.p go for it!
I traded my 2020 for a 2021. I can't say enough good about the cycle it's fantastic. It doesn't do anything great but it does everything really good
@@mark.e.p There is no other way to do it!
5 foot 3 inches with a inside leg of 31 inches, that is long legs, im 5 foot 5, inside leg 28. Centre stand is stock.
What a great real world review. See a few of these here in the UK, but mainly it's a sea of BMW GS's. Greetings from Manchester, England.
the brackets up front are for carrying extra containers of fuel thats what I've seen anyway I suppose they would work for a # things we actually have a RE dealer 90 miles away need to go check them out I like the looks of them and they won't break the bank get 2 of them two REs that is they build several different models
You can mount trailpack for small luggage also.costs 34$ in india. Very useful.
4 months with my '22 Rock Red so far, I'm beginning to consider it a friend. It's the best backroads bike and comfortable for me
Talking royale Enfield, i think you sould test the interseptor and the continental GT.
Btw the sneak peeks made me excited about whats coming up un the Chan

that bike is even heavier and slower lol.
@@notstevelam you have obviously never read or looked at the power of that bike lol
@@ArchieKeen1 i literally have a gt650 lol.
Those funny little bottles are a glue, that you put on screw and bolt threads to stop them vibrating loose. A must have on an Enfield.
I thought the same thing. Why would anybody not want doodle in a picture they are taking of a bike.
Nice bike...whose the girl.!!
🤪
Wives that's why. Mine would over look the bike in the foreground and ask sarcastically who was my new girl friend...
What a change since the Triumph Boneville days, great review too.
