This isn't bad. I'd like to see some kind of hybrid. Minimal commentary. Maybe just announce the batter's name, and the outcome of the at bat, any action on the base paths, runner advances from second to third, runner scores etc. Announce any pitching changes. That's it. That way you can still know what's going on from the other room or whatever.

That is exactly what made guys like Jack Buck, Vin Scully, Curt Gowdy, Red Barber, Mel Allen and guys like that so wonderful when they were on TV. Ray Scott was like that on the CBS football games way back when, and so was Pat Summerall before he got paired with John Madden. They knew when to talk, and when to shut up. Watch Scully's call of Kirk Gibson's World Series Home Run, and how much he just stays out of the way and lets the picture and the crowd noise tell the story.

I'm a Red Sox fan and I've seen Yankees commentator Michael Kay take tons of criticism over the years because he sometimes goes silent during small portions of the game. But honestly, I think that shows a commentator has an appreciation for the beauty of the moment himself. It takes a secure person and a good commentator to realize there are times where you need to just close your lips and let the beauty of the game fill the silence.

    • @A.B.421

The low pitched sound heard throughout is the combination of every single person who's talking during the game. It creates this weird white noise that doesn't go away during this since you have about 30,000-50,000 people all talking at once so it blends together into that sound.

Simply calling out an incorrect title for those that might see it and now call something a full inning that is wrong. It's not the end of the world but thats why I didn't act like it was.
