I'm going to be singing "I haven't got time for the pain" jingle from the medipren commercial for the rest of the week now. 😂 I love your retro commercials❤
Couple of interesting notes in some of the promos 1. The promo for ABC World News Tonight moving to 6:30 on WABC was a huge deal since previously all of the Big 3 stations in New York had hour-long newscasts at 6. Notably, this - in addition to freeing a time-slot in a longtime search for a suitable spot for WABC airings of Jeopardy - led to WCBS and WNBC shortening their 6:00 newscasts by the end of 1988. 2. The Cowboys-Rams game was remembered for the Anaheim Police Department, upon learning that Cowboys head coach Tom Landry had been the subject of a death threat, escorting him off the field to put a bulletproof vest on.
I would agree on the Toshiba VCR ad, they mentioned over 500 lines of resolution so that would be something better! But so many Christmas specials in the 80s! If they were good or not I don't know but there were a LOT of them!
4:46 - Bruce Willis had so much energy then. It's a shame he gradually walked away from comedic roles, and what ultimately happened to his health. It's a shame to lose the kind of life he had in his performances in his prime.
Very true I remember he had that band he'd jam out with and he'd be singing and dancing on Moonlighting and you can't officially ring in Christmas until John McClain shows up. My favorite movie of his is Hudson Hawk, just to go against the grain lol
No Heart Of The City tonight..? Aww man Sure & Natural Maxishields-no need to show me,i'll take your word for it😂 Seagram's Wine Cooler-Bruce in his"Bruno" persona Jack And Mike-Geraldo's like "Been there, done that." Toshiba Digital VCR-with a "rewind time" feature? Great now i can stop the Hindenburg disaster from occuring.. John Grin's Christmas end credits -"You Forgot About Love"performed by Kevin Guillaume(Robert's son)
According to the next day's Iowa City Press-Citizen, a man who had been in a car accident the previous Friday and submerged in icy water for about an hour died that day after having his heartbeat revived and surviving for two days. When he was brought to the hospital, his body temp was 75, his heart had stopped, and his pupils were fixed and dilated; doctors attached him to a heart and lung machine, which kept his blood circulating until he was warmed to 95, then restored normal heart rhythm.
The commercials from “The Christmas Toy” were posted last year in Vol. 962: ua-cam.com/video/MVdtUaE9wQA/v-deo.html This is a continuation of the same recording.

John Grin's Christmas...The grumpiest and frowniest Christmas Special ever...

My grandmother bought me Isotoner gloves when I was a child. I'll never forget those leatherette chevrons.
My parents had the Visions cookware and I thought it was an awesome concept.
My parents did as well. It was pretty cool back then.

2:07 - Looks like a leftover prop from a B Sci-Fi film to me...
Oh no, it's Bruce Willis's "Bruno" persona
I remember that special. Aired right after Jim Henson‘s: The Christmas Toy.

The music for the Corning commercials are very Halloweenesque.
Inspired more by Tubular Bells IMO

Did the girl in the underalls commercial say,”I know I like the 90s”?
"I know I'll like the 90's"
Weird seeing Brit Hume back in the day working for ABC News. Nowadays, he's associated with Fox News.
He had a 23 year career at ABC News before moving to Fox News in 1996.
