That Replay Gum commercial reminds me of the drive in theater we had back when I was a kid. I remember my dad taking my brothers and I to the rerelease of Pete’s Dragon and The Muppets Take Manhattan during the summer of 84 when I was 7. I loved that place, but I think it closed not long after. A grocery store is now where it used to be.
I absolutely love Dynasty. Crazy to think this series debuted 43 years ago!
Love those checkerboard wheels on the 81 Monte Carlo!
It’s snowy here in the Midwest. That Cup of Soup would be perfect for this weather.
Same here in Wisconsin. Stay safe and warm where you are!
On the day that these aired where this was recorded in Rochester, NY the low was -10, and whatever relief from that the weatherman was alluding to at 4:38 was short lived, as the temperature on January 12th was even lower at -15.
I had forgotten all about Too Close for Comfort. I watched that whole line up back then on Tuesday nights. I was 10. I also remember PM Magazine...that was a huge deal back then.
SST: Death Flight was a staple of the WABC late movie for a few years in the 90s. I also saw the MST3K season 0 episode!
Allan Melvin (Barney Hefner on All In The Family) was in the Liquid-Plumr ad!
Plop plop fizz fizz oh what a relief it is.
5:34 - Probably the only time the words Twinkees and tough standards have been used so close together…
Twinkies are literally the worst thing you can eat, so that cracked me up
Thanks as always for taking me back to my childhood with these great memories.
1. WOKR Eyewitness News Bumper- “Peanuts are out, Jelly Beans are in. Details after the movie.” Sounds like an interesting topic for a news story. I would love to hear more details on that.
Alka-Seltzer- The way that man was frantically looking through his medicine cabinet for the Alka Seltzer medicine, I almost expected him to scream with his hands on his face like Macaulay Culkin in the “Home Alone” movies.
It's referencing the 1980 Presidential Election. Jimmy Carter lost to Ronald Reagan. Carter had a peanut farm that he gave up after winning the White House, and Reagan famously loved jelly beans.
That's Alan Melvin in Liquid-Plumr commerical.
I was 5 in 1981. I can't believe it was 43 years ago.
Robert Ito from Quincy M.E. and Midway at 3:51!
In the Lipton Cup-A-Soup ad, it’s Lee Bryant!! Mrs. Hammen from Airplane! “Jim never vomits at home….”
Happy Days-I don't blame them,i'd have reacted the same way
Laverne & Shirley-"Shirley,it's me..your twin sister you never told anyone about!"
SST: Death Flight-hopefully that plane wasnt affiliated with Alaska Airlines 😱
Dynasty-one of those women hadn't been introduced yet..and when she did arrive, things changed
WOKR Eyewitness News Bumper-wonder what movie he was referring to
Hart To Hart-Brendan Fraser and Tom Cruise shouldve taken a few tips from RJ on how to deal with a mummy
Next on "Charlie's Angels"-where's Steve Mcgarrett when you need him?
"After the movie" was referring to "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" which followed "Charlie's Angels" 9:07
4:48 - Apparently, Crystal Draino is grounds for divorce in this house, judging by how he’s acting…
Liquid Plumr actor looks and sounds like Sam from the Brady Bunch. lol
It is the guy from BB
It's Alan Mevlin. He was also in All in the Family as Barney Hefner and in the Phil Silvers Show as Cpl. Henshaw.
I adore that Monte Carlo commercial. She reminds me of Karen carpenter. 💚
The drums, the quiet beauty..yes I agree with a caveat: a healthy Karen Carpenter. Miss that lady!
I don't understand why tires still needed white wall stripes?
They were never necessary...it was purely an aesthetic choice. They were still common on luxury cars around this time but fell out of vogue by the mid 80's.
There actually is a difference in how the tires were manufactured. From my understanding, white letter and whitewall tires have to cure longer than black wall tires in the mold. It is supposed to help the tire last longer. At least that is what I have been told.
^No evidence of this in my research. Tires are black because of carbon black added to the rubber to reduce wear. Whitewalls are manufactured the same as all-black tires except that there is only carbon black added to the treads...leaving the sides a bare white. Eventually all of the tire was manufactured with carbon black added to the entire tire. All-black tires should last longer than whitewalls because of this. They're considered more durable, and this is cited as why they became standard by the mid 70's.
I would drive that Monte Carlo today if I could find one in decent condition. That car was always sharp!
@@BlackQuills1:43 TOTALLY & I'm approaching 67!!! 👍👍👍
