Michael, i didn't know you were a musician, when can we expect to see a Beatles or solo Beatle duet with Tudor Smith, even if you live at opposite ends of the spectrum you both have the ability to make it work. Looking forward to it.😂

Back to the Egg I've always ranked among his best LPs. Never understood why it's so overlooked and underrated, especially when compared with other Wings LPs.
Michael, Great ranking! I am SO pleased you put "Back To The Egg" in the 10 ! Ever since i bought this album i have LOVED it. I've always rated it my 2nd fave Wings album. Even though it is a bit uneven, what makes it a great album is it has SO much energy!! Second best Wings song ever for me is "Getting Closer". A Power Pop masterpiece.
I love love love Back to the Egg. I can't wait for the Archive Collection (not for the big boxes I can't afford but for the double CD version with extras).
Made my day with where you have RAM. Child of divorce and when I was 7 (in ‘79), my father would take us for the weekend to his friend’s house in Vermont. Maybe a 4 hour drive. RAM happened to be in the tape deck the first trip and I instantly fell in love. For the entire winter, I made him play it on loop, to and from. For YEARS, I wasn’t sure if I thought the album was a masterpiece purely due to nostalgia or on merit. It’s so great to see folks finally recognizing the greatness of this LP. Cheers!
Great list Michael, I enjoy your enthusiasm. I would definitely have Flowers In The Dirt and McCartney III in my top 10 favorites but can’t complain about what you have. We all have different tastes and I have really enjoyed the comments section on this video.
For years, I traded back and forth as to which of these two masterpieces was the best! My final decision was based on the initial impact of McCartney on my 15 year-old-self, Steve!👌
Great review Michael. McCartney has always amazed me with his creativity and melodic song writing with the Beatles and beyond. It's in his genes to create music and weave his stories in such creative melodic ways. Even John Lennon admitted during Wings how amazed he was with Paul's ability to crank them out. The world will realize his contribution and how gifted he really was when he's gone.
Well that was a surprise to see Press To Play in your top ten. I have fondness for it because it was the first new McCartney album (cassette) I ever bought. Maybe the lyrics aren't the best but every song is catchy as heck. I'm always defending the album against haters in Beatles forums. Enjoy your channel.
Great list! I'm glad the two last Wings albums got in there and "Press to Play" is an underrated album. One of my favorite McCartney albums that didn't get mentioned is "Electric Arguments" which he did in 2008 with Youth (Martin Glover) from Killing Joke as the Fireman. A lot of people are unaware of it and unlike their previous collaborations, this album contains fully formed songs with McCartney vocals.
Here is my list. This list changes from time to time, especially the albums 10-5: 1. RAM 2. Band on The Run 3. Flaming Pie 4. Venus and Mars 5. Egyptian Station 6. Tug of War 7. McCartney I 8. Memory Almost Full 9. Chaos and Creation 10. London Town
As soon as I saw Press to Play I hit the Like button. Nice to see some of these albums get the respect they deserve. I never understood the hate for Back to the Egg or Press to Play. I wish we would get an “Archive Collection” edition of both of those albums (as well as London Town) Nice list.
What a list! All great. Press to Play and Back to the Egg have always been under-appreciated. “Footprints” and “So Glad to See You Here” have long been favorite tracks of mine. I feel the exact same way as you regarding Memory Almost Full (and being underwhelmed by the greatly overrated Chaos and Creation…). “Tug of War” remains a magnificent and meaningful song. Btw, you know I love the dig at Wiener 🌭. The timing is funny as I’ve written my next video and both he and his Hall of Shame get a highly unfavorable mention in it. Twerpy ass. Killer list of brilliant McCartney/Wings albums with your usual spot-on opinions. 👏👏👏👏👏
Can’t wait to see your video, Bruce! The Hall of Shame needs a good spanking! Give it it to them good, brother! I loved your coverage on Obiwan! Kennedy needs the same spanking, btw!👌😉❤️ The more I know about you, the more I know we have some stuff in common! Thanx, Bruce!
@@MichaelNoland-TheBottomLine Thank you for the support and congrats on the meteoric growth of your channel. I always knew it’d really take off as more classic rock lovers got to see what you can do (and the super-professional presentation). Keep up the awesome work!
Great presentation, Michael! Very enjoyable. Spot on interesting for all! This type format is one of the things absolutely in your wheelhouse as a content creator. Great to share this!
Michael, I really enjoyed this list. You ranked these in a unique order for unique reasons. Our #1 is the same for the same reasons. I have a personal affinity for Off the Ground but it was that tour that I got to see the show. I am a string instrumentalist (mediocre at best) with a special love for the bass so PMC is like a god to me. He is truly the best ever - I liken his work to our modern day Bach.
Great Video!! My top 5 Paul albums 1) Ram 2) Band On The Run 3) Tug Of War 4) Flaming Pie 5) New By happy coincidence my favourites happen to be in release order as well!! 🙂
Love this site. It’s always hard to disagree with your views. So right on the mark. Pretty much an “ok” top five. However, 5. Back to the egg. 4. London Town. 3. McCartney. 2. Band on the run. 1. Ram. Wildlife was not a great LP, but it was so how can I say it? Simple, easy to just lay back and enjoy the simplistic way Paul recorded the LP. So kudos.
Actually Carl, Wildlife although not a masterpiece, is also a great maligned album! The songs Dear Friend, Wildlife, & Tomorrow were worth the album’s purchase! And as a purposefully underproduced album, I think it’s fine! Better than Driving Pain, er, I mean Driving Rain!
Thanx, Michael! Right? Memory was so much better than Chaos! I loved about 5 cuts from Chaos, and they are as good as anything on Memory, but Memory as an album is the superior album IMO!
Great list, Michael ! I agree with it 90%. I just think that “Chaos and Creation” is a better album than “Memory Almost Full” and could have been on your list. I also agree with your comments on “Red Rose”. The double album format is far superior than the actual 1973 single LP.
Great video my friend! While I would have to put RAM at #1 it is purely because of how it impacted me in my teens and really felt like a reminder of what it was to experience a Beatles listening experience post breakup.
Great ranking video, Michael. I generally agree with the entries in your list but not in the rankings. However, I never really grew to like Press To Play and would have chosen Flowers In the Dirt instead. Other than that we agree.
hey Michael, nice list, and some good observations on your side... 3 of the albums wouldn't have made my top-10, but there we go... therefor I was delighted about quite a few of your less popular choices: I always rated Back to the Egg high, I also always found Flowers in the Dirt (your honorable mention) underrated, and I was so happy, that you crowned the list with his more shy and intimate first album - I love it very much!!! xx
Interesting list. Mine would be: 1. Ram 2. Tug of War 3. Band on the Run 4. McCartney 5. Flowers in the Dirt 6. Red Rose Speedway 7. McCartney II 8. Flaming Pie 9. Egypt Station 10. Back to the Egg
Your list mirrors mine pretty closely, Michael. I would pull Press To Play and replace it with Flowers In The Dirt. Dirt along with Memory Almost Full are later career classics! I would choose Ram as my #1. Thanks for the entertaining and informative overview.
Hey Michael, ive only recently discovered the channel which is terrific, and am now catching up on some of your older videos. I’m a massive Beatles fan and have been collecting since the very early 80s. Some great picks in your top 10. I am particularly happy to see Press To Play in the list - maybe the last time he was truly experimental. I would probably rank Tug of War in the top three, along with Band On The Run and Ram. My main disagreement with you is in relation to Chaos - a personal favourite of mine and as much as I like Venus and Egg, I would drop either of them to include Chaos. Anyway this is all just quibbling; I don’t think there is any McCartney album I don’t go back to regularly. I have tickets to see him at two of his upcoming Australian gigs and really wish he would include more of his solo catalogue in the set list.
A great list. I have always especially liked McCartney's Early 70's output. There is a certain magic in those songs and in that time. 'RAM' is a splendid album. So is 'McCartney'.
Great list sir. Just got a fresh vinyl copy of Ram...my original is so worn out. One of my favorite songs that I was so glad he played live last time I saw him is Juniors Farm. Loved Paul’s kind of odd songs...uncle Albert magneto man etc. Also Too many people well too many to mention.
Greetings Michael ✌️ interesting list, Glad to see Back To The Egg, its one of my favorites. many people have metioned that the sequencing is what affects this album. One album that really surprises me on your Top 10 List is Press to Play, I was about 14 years old when this came out, and I was really into Jimi Hendrix and discovering Led Zeppelin, and was really disgusted with all that synthesizer' crap on the song Press, but I'll give it a re-listen to see if I can appreciate it now. And the album Band On The Run is like The Beatles album Sgt. Pepper- its Not Hip to say nowadays they are the Best or greatest, Ive noticed this on other people's Lists that Band On The Run is at #2 or #3, Anyways Michael enjoyed the video and Love your Channel- Cheers 🍺
I guess i'm one of the few that knew this. Denny was always a bit cagey in interviews about what he composed in Wings! It's been fairly well established that "Old Siam Sir" was a Denny Laine / Lawrence Juber / Paul McCartney composition!
Denny Laine didn’t start Mull of Kintyre or write most of it. “He had an idea for a song. I went around to have breakfast with them up in Scotland. … I heard the chorus and I said that’s a potentially hit song. So the next day we went and finished it off. We sat down and wrote the lyrics and put it together.” - Denny Laine “‘Mull of Kintyre’ came about [when] we were in Scotland. I went round to Paul’s one day and he had the chorus. That’s the song, I think. The chorus. We were inspired by Scotland, so I helped with the lyrics” - Denny Laine
Red Rose Speedway and Back To The Egg are probably my two favorite Wings studio albums, I really love them both. Choosing a favorite non-Wings album is really hard. I would probably have to choose Ram, but I also really like so many of them. I also think Press To Play was underrated, and I thought it sounded kinda off when in came out, but I noticed in the mid 90s that it really sounded strangely current, especially Pretty Little Head.
I enjoyed that. A good ecletic mix of ranked albums. I do love how we [fans] have varying tastes because it means all of his work appreciated. I'm so with you on so many of those albums. Some others not so much but that's what I'm talking about. I'd of course have Speed of Sound at number one. That album blew me away as a teenager...especially with the old headphones on, closing out the world each time I would listen to it. Flaming Pie....ooo yeah! Almost finished my video on that very subject. Keep 'em coming matey 😊
Thanx, brother! We all have our own favs, and you’re absolutely right, Paul has dabbled into so many styles, he’s managed to please everybody at LEAST a little bit! He has pleased me musically far more often than even giving me doubts, for most of my life, so Amen to the man! What a genius! Speed of Sound was THIIIS close to the top 10! His compositional skills on that one are as good as any other Wings album! I just wasn’t a fan of anyone else but Paul or occasionally Denny singing lead, so the album left me a bit flat for that reason only! Silly Love Songs is a lesson on song structure!
My list with favorites from each album in parentheses: 1. Flaming Pie (Little Willow, Somedays, Beautiful Night, Calico Skies) 2. Ram (Monkberry Moon Delight, Dear Boy, Smile Away, Long Haired Lady) 3. Memory Only Full (House of Wax, Dance Tonight, You Tell Me, The End of the End) 4. Venus and Mars (Love in Song, Letting Go, Call Me Back Again, You Gave Me the Answer 5. Band on the Run (1985, Mrs. Vanderbilt, Band on the Run) 6. Egypt Station (Despite Repeated Warnings, Happy With You, Hand in Hand) 7. Chaos and Creation in the Backyard ( Jenny Wren, English Tea, This Never Happened Before) 8. Wings at the Speed of Sound (Beware My Love, Silly Love Songs, Warm and Beautiful) 9. Tug of War (Here Today, Wanderlust, Tug of War) 10. Red Rose Speedway (Big Barn Bed, Little Lamb Dragonfly, When the Night)
Kudos on including "Back To The Egg". I think it would have sold better if "Goodnight Tonight" and it's wonderful B side "Daytime Nightime Suffering" had been included.
Awesome job on this review and ranking of Sir Paul's post Beatles work. It's not always easy for members of great, historic, and loved bands to have successful solo careers. Many members of great bands have solo careers that are more like B movies. An example for me would be Mick Jagger. As much as I love the Rolling Stones and name Mick Jagger right behind Robert Plant as favorite front men. I was not interested in his solo work. When Mick and Keith Richards both had solo albums out I actually bought Keith Richards but not Micks. Even I don't understand it lol. Michael join us Sunday at ROYCE IN THE HOUSE for our live Podacst, 6:30 p.m. PST. Let me know where I can post a link, or I can post one in the chat for you.
That would be great Royce! Post one in the chat, bruddah! Yeah, I know what you mean about solo careers! That’s why I am such a Beatle’s fan! They weren’t just a band of guys who while together could produce a great product! They were true ‘songwriters’ first, Rockers second! It’s always in the songs, Royce! Every single time!😉👌❤️👍🫢
I absolutely ran out and purchased "McCartney", "Band On The Run", "Ram" and "Red Rose Speedway" (also Wings - "Wildlife", which never has gotten the attention it should) as soon as they were released but the most exciting solo release for any of them for me was/is George's release of "All Things Must Pass"!
So I came your channel the other day and have had the time to watch a few videos and I'm assuming you're a Beatles fan... lol. I'm curious what's your take on The Beach Boys Beatles connection, from all I've gathered they certainly respected each other and inspired each other to step up their game so to speak between Brian Wilson and the fab four. I've always wondered how things would have been if Smile would have completed in that era.
Anyone that The Beatles respected HAVE to be respected n turn! The Beach Boys are monsters of Rock, and they have been almost pigeon holed as not as great as they truly were!
Fun list! I agree with 9 of the 10 but would replace (no surprise) Press to Play (which I do like) with "New" my second favorite of Paul's more recent works (after "Memory Almost Full" which I love the most of his recent works). I'd also flip "McCartney" to 3rd, then "Band on the Run" 2nd and "Ram" first for... reasons! (Personal taste). However, I fully agree with the choices overall, especially happy about the underrated Back to the Egg and London Town being on the list! New subscriber, enjoying your vids!
My top 10 albums: 1. RAM 2. Band on the Run 3. Flaming Pie 4. Chaos and Creation in the Backyard 5. Egypt Station 6. Tug of War 7. Memory Almost Full 8. Venus and Mars 9. McCarteny 10. Flowers in the Dirt
I am a recent convert to Paul McCartney's post-Beatles work, but have been listening to the Beatles and John Lennon solo stuff since my mid teens, and I'll be 42 this December. The reason why I avoided listening to Paul is exactly because of all the rubbish that was said about him post-Beatles. Following the release of the Get Back documentary I decided to give him a shot, and have been buying every LP of his I can get my hands on, and have loved all of it. I personally find Wild Life to be the underrated gem, since I find that it follows in on the themes and style of the Ram album, just that now song ideas are being worked out by the Wings in a band setting.
My list: 10. Mccartney II 9. New 8. Chaos And Creation 7. Egypt Station 6. Tug Of War 5. Memory Almost Full 4. Back To The Egg 3. Flaming Pie 2. Ram 1. Band On The Run I like a lot of his more recent albums. The voice isn't as good as it was in the 70s, but the overall quality of the songs is better.
Yes, I agree Jose! FITD missed the list by just THAT much! And one of my favs! I saw him on that tour and was disappointed he only played like 4 songs from FITD! At least 75% of that album was tourable, man!
yay someone else likes Pretty Little Head - there I was thinking I was the only person in existence who loved that song. Released as a single I don't think it even charted in the top 100? But I loved it and the video that accompanied was a work of genius. I also agree with you that Tug of War the title track is outstanding. It wasn't the first single to be released so did not chart highly as most people had already bought the album. But a brilliant moving and powerful song. And for all those who bag Ebony and Ivory it remains a catchy sweet melodic tune. Yes the lyrics were simple but so were some lyrics of some earlier Beatle Songs and maybe simplicity is what is most likely to lead to peace or what it should be. I really enjoyed this video and not just because I am a fan of mcCartney but because Michael's articulation and reasonings are superb. Yet another huge agreement with Michael RAM is amazing and yes even better than Band on the Run in my opinion. His vocal on songs like Monkberry Moon Delight or Smile Away this album is just mind blowing. McCartney was always ambushed by Lennon hipsters of which most of Rolling Stone were endeared to. It has taken decades for Macca to be appreciated and sadly it will take till after his death that his musical brilliance will be fully appreciated. Weirdness doesn't equal brilliance. Brilliant songwriting does. And I've always been amazed. P.S. I could tell you were.area a talented musician by the way you articulate your information and knowledge and by the fact you focus on the music not the imagery. Top stuff and fun to boot!
I love McCartney. And his fans. I buy balloons for them and take them out for a special day once a year. They can get a bit loud! Especially with the ‘brilliant’ Wings stuff! It’s so brilliant! If anyone can help with wheelchair access at venues I’d be happy to hear from you.
I noticed that you mentioned Eleanor Rigby as being your favourite Beatles Song. Of course there have been many artists covering the song, wondering if you've ever heard Australian band Zoot doing their unique cover of the song. Zoot were a short lived Australian band in the late 60's and early 70's. It's 2 most well known members are Rick Springfield (Jessie's Girl) and Beeb Birtles (Little River Band). They recorded a heavy rock version of Eleanor Rigby in 1970, which became their biggest hit in Australia, making #4 on the Australian charts. Rick Springfield came up with the arrangement of the song, and they made it their own. This version of Eleanor Rigby is as well known in Australia (to this day) as the Beatles original. I'm interested to know if you knew of Zoot's cover, and if you knew of it or not, what you think of it. Here's a link to a video of their version. ua-cam.com/video/erhLnBd8abI/v-deo.html
Michael, have you ever thought of picking an artist say Creedence, and telling a story of their history? An hour documentary on each artist etc. You would be perfect.
1. Band On The Run 2. Venus And Mars 3. London Town 4. Ram 5. Live And Let Die 6. Wings Over America 7. At The Speed Of Sound 8. Thrillington 9. Wings Greatest 10. The McCartney Interview
REALLY ENJOYED THAT ,GREAT LIST MICHAEL BUT ONE THING ,YE SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD THE POSTER BEHIND YOU WITH THE 10 ALBUMS ON IT ,THAT WAY THERE WERE NO SURPRISES, NIT PICKING I KNOW,BUT I'D HAVE PREFERRED T KEEP GUESSING 😀, I absolutely love flamin pie it's spectacular
Great discussion….great list although I would have ranked Ram over McCartney but I wouldn’t get in a fist fight over this issue. Thanks also new subscriber.
haha i'm loving seeing the enthusiasm . i love Back To The Egg. Just one track, Again and Again and Again , I don't like. Only album i don't agree with here is London Town which bores me. But i love McCartney 2, so what do I know lol. keep up the good work bud.😀 Band On The Run is still his best, but even as a Brit I have to go to the North American release with Helen Wheels. That's how i first experienced it years ago. 😀
Cool list. There isn't a McCartney album that I don't like. 'Press To Play' would have benefitted from the addition of 'Yvonnes The One', 'Back On My Feet' and maybe 'Spies Like Us' and removing 'Talk More Talk' and 'Move Over Busker ' IMO. 'London Town' is VERY underrated nowadays. 'Venus & Mars' is my favourite.
Some cool stuff here, Shak! I agree with your suggestions for Press to Play (especially ‘Spies Like Us, what about ‘Girl’s School?). I like Talk More Talk, but would agree with removing Move Over Busker! I can’t argue a whole lot with anyone who thinks Venus and Mars is his best! In my Top 10, the last 8 were a thin veil from each other, Shak! Thanx for your input!
Not surprisingly another well informed presentation. During its original 1970s run I wasn't a big fan of Wings. A paid little attention as the music most played on the radio was the usual McCartney fluff. Since then over the last few years I've rediscovered Wings and the big reason for that is the vocal and instrumental contributions by Denny Laine. Laine first appeared on my map when he fronted The Moody Blues. Please consider a piece on Laine's career with The Electric String Bandl, Air Force and his solo work. I recently attended the Rubber Soul/Revolver concert with Laine, Joey Molland, Todd Rundgren and others. Best performances I've seen in years by anyone.
Interesting list Michael, i have to admit i don't agree with all of it, i'm not a big fan of either Press to Play or Back To The Egg, i'd replace them with Flowers In The Dirt and Off The Ground. I do agree that Memory is a better album than the Chaos snooze fest. I'm also glad you didn't mention Paul's nadir, Driving Rain.
Driving Pain you mean, Peter! I totally hear you in regard to your disagreements with me! I think most people would agree with your analysis of PTP & BTTE vs. FITD & OTG. And I DO hear the criticism! Especially considering Flowers In The Dirt! Not so much with the one with the dangling feet, though! Although, I think Biker Like An Icon is one of his best songs EVER! Rivaling Get Back any day! BTW: I feel Paul has always delivered at least a handful (OK, maybe not on Driving Pain!) of great songs on every album he has released! So naturally, I have them all! Anything by Lennon or McCartney is worth at least serious consideration!
Driving Rain with the exception of maybe only two or three songs is as you said the nadir. I find it to also be a rather pretentious album that makes it even more unpleasant to listen to. The only thing In find amazing is his current band began with him on that album. A lot of Macca fans find it hard to connect with Driving Rain.
Great list. Though I prefer Red Rose Speedway to the iffy F laming Pie. Maccas rockers on this album are lackluster, compared to the serious rockers on Driving Rain. Calico Skies n Some days are brilliant imho.
hmmm...i seem to have lost my original response. But, I think I can recreate it.... Michael--great research and a good job! Although I was disappointed that you left out Speed of Sound....(I still stand by Beware My Love:) Most albums mentioned here I bought on LP years ago and haven't listened to them in ages. But, I'll now drag them out and play them. I don't understand why people say that the album McCartney is LoFi...I've heard that several places .Dragging it out the other night, I got caught up on the guitar solo on "Maybe I'm Amazed." A great song but especially the quality of that muted guitar. You can almost hear the pick hitting the strings! Some good stuff Michael!
I know, I know, Stuart! But I did put Speed of Sound as an album of true merit! If this had been a list of 11, it would have been there! Beware My Love was worth the purchase for the whole album! Love it!
Dome Mike-sama! I shall explore these.IMVHO "Too many people" is my fav,.......'Too many people pulled and pushed around.Too many people sleeping late!.That was you last mistake,....."
You got it dude..Me, my friends, and my little sis got Ram in '71 when we were like 12/13..We loved it and still do..It got panned for decades by critics and we thought fuck them..It's still the most Beatlesque sounding solo record by any of them, and that's what it was all about in life to us at the time..Especially since they never got back together..When they broke up it ruined the lives of me and my friends. To this day I'm sure..And Ram is so killer, and even better back in our high school daze, on acid thru headphones..So Ram is number one, and McCartney's first album number two..After that I won't argue..We loved all the Wings albums.... And the wind played a dreadful cantata frankny64yroldwhitekid rockfan
I used to think Press to Play was Paul's worst studio album. But after listening to it several times I find it really enjoyable, maybe not top 10 but not bottom of the list either. And Pretty Little Head is my favourite song from the album. As for Back to the Egg, it was always top 6 for me. I wish they did an archive collection so they re-edit the CD in my country.
My favorite Wings album is “Wings Over America” i know im cheating it’s a live album but MAN! His live versions of the “Venus & Mars” songs are much better than the studio versions… but my favorite all time Paul solo album is “Ram”…
It's interesting that ALL top LP choices of McCartney after the Beatles were one of his first three efforts as a solo artist. A similar trait with all similar reviews of other artists.
Agree with you on Chaos. I hated that album the first time I heard it. I grew to appreciate it’s definite qualities but it feels too much like he is trying to do Revolver II without the fun of Yellow Submarine or the heavier rock of Got to Get You Into My Life. Memory Almost Full is superior; for me it vies with Ram for the top spot.
I have many of these albums..in vinyl, but McCartney’s output was never the same after John Lennon was murdered, imo. Paul wrote to impress John. They had a competition in that regard which brought out the best in both.
I think its great that you separated the two Paul McCartneys' for the most part. It would be challenging to include McCartney's material from the Beatles albums Sgt. Peppers and after that (especially since half the credit would have too go to John Lennon). You did an excellent review and ranking of the material released after the Fab Four. McCartney has been ranked the best songwriter of all time, but that is not really fair to other artists who are not able to enjoy the contributions of a second person. Maybe you will do a show on the Paull died in 1966 theory? I mean, there has been some significant evidence to come out over the decades that demonstrate its more likely than not, that Paul was at least replaced by someone else, beginning with the Sgt. Peppers album. I don't know any thing about the clues in the lyrics, but the cover of Sgt. Peppers is a funeral scene. And the new Paull, who is obviously now taller than all the over band members, also has a different shaped head and if you closely examine before 1966 and after photos, you will see it. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. Other evidence that came later was the issues and statements made by Heather Mills (who said something to the effect of, I didn't marry who I thought I had married), and also the paternity test McCartney had to take after a woman claiming to be his daughter took him to court. If you put all the reasonable evidence together, it really only points in one direction. There have been two Paul McCartney's, both talented songwriters.
He was always the tallest Beatle, but here's the thing - Jane Asher was Paul's girlfriend years before '66 & into '68 before they split! Explain that without drugs!
Michael, i didn't know you were a musician, when can we expect to see a Beatles or solo Beatle duet with Tudor Smith, even if you live at opposite ends of the spectrum you both have the ability to make it work. Looking forward to it.😂

" Back To The Egg " was a great album. I was 15 when it was released and I bought the 45 for " Getting Closer " That's A great pop song :)
I agree and wished I had mentioned Getting Closer, Tiger! And I agree with you regarding the energy of this wonderful Pop/Rock classic!
One of my favorites!!! I stand by saying that Back To The Egg is just as top notch as RAM -IMHO.
Great list!! Ram is my #1..... but "McCartney" is incredible also. Thanks for the vid:)
For years, I traded back and forth as to which of these two masterpieces was the best! My final decision was based on the initial impact of McCartney on my 15 year-old-self, Steve!👌
Great review!! Thank you for pointing out and saying what I’ve always thought about Jann!
Yawn Wiener only needs an exciting bun to go with his Mus-TURD! Thanx, Br Greg!
This list changes from time to time, especially the albums 10-5:
1. RAM
2. Band on The Run
3. Flaming Pie
4. Venus and Mars
5. Egyptian Station
6. Tug of War
7. McCartney I
8. Memory Almost Full
9. Chaos and Creation
10. London Town
Agree with your rating of Flaming Pie.
A great list. I love RAM... and London Town. The latter was quite underrated.
As soon as I saw Press to Play I hit the Like button. Nice to see some of these albums get the respect they deserve.
I never understood the hate for Back to the Egg or Press to Play. I wish we would get an “Archive Collection” edition of both of those albums (as well as London Town)
Nice list.
Kennedy needs the same spanking, btw!👌😉❤️
The more I know about you, the more I know we have some stuff in common! Thanx, Bruce!
@@MichaelNoland-TheBottomLine Thank you for the support and congrats on the meteoric growth of your channel. I always knew it’d really take off as more classic rock lovers got to see what you can do (and the super-professional presentation). Keep up the awesome work!
Press To Play and Back To The Egg are in my top 5
Great presentation, Michael! Very enjoyable. Spot on interesting for all! This type format is one of the things absolutely in your wheelhouse as a content creator. Great to share this!
Thanx so much William! You’re a scholar and a gentleman!😉👌❤️👍✌️
My top 5 Paul albums
1) Ram
2) Band On The Run
3) Tug Of War
4) Flaming Pie
5) New
By happy coincidence my favourites happen to be in release order as well!! 🙂
Thanks for providing the link to the Back to the Egg special. I really enjoyed that. What a great collection of music videos.
Happy to see Press To Play get the love it deserves. To me, it is a masterpiece! I also agree that Memory Almost Full is better than Chaos.
Thanx, Michael! Right? Memory was so much better than Chaos! I loved about 5 cuts from Chaos, and they are as good as anything on Memory, but Memory as an album is the superior album IMO!
Absolutely, Press To Play kicks ass
Great list, Michael ! I agree with it 90%. I just think that “Chaos and Creation” is a better album than “Memory Almost Full” and could have been on your list. I also agree with your comments on “Red Rose”. The double album format is far superior than the actual 1973 single LP.
You add real reason when compiling your best of lists, all your reasons for placement make perfect sense, kudos to you 🤩
Thanx so much, Scott! My mouth and reason… Who woulda thought???
A great list of Billy’s best LPs
I see what you did there, Robbie!😉❤️
Great choice! I instantly loved RAM and good to see Paul's solo debut number 1
Interesting list. When I first brought Back to the Egg, I was bitterly disappointed, but hey, I was 10! Grew to love it, glad it is on the list.
Great video my friend! While I would have to put RAM at #1 it is purely because of how it impacted me in my teens and really felt like a reminder of what it was to experience a Beatles listening experience post breakup.
I'm glad you mentioned Flaming Pie. The ballads on this album are so beautiful and moving and Beatufil Night is fantastic too
So true. Number 1 is McCartney. Its minimalist. I still play it on my powerful amp and JBL project speakers. So so good. Thank you Michael.
Yes, amos! And it sounds so powerful and FULL! What a mix, bruddah!👌
Thank you for the link to the Back to the Egg special.
Loving your work, man. Catching up on all of your videos. Spreading the word.
Ram is great
Thanx, W M! I agree regarding his early output!
His music was never questioned by his fans, only by Jan Wenner and his robots!
Glad you mentioned Denny Laine's major contribution to "Mull Of Kintyre". His creation of - especially the melody - is outstanding.
Thanx, Tiger! Denny wrote a whole lot more with Wings than most fans are aware of!
We sat down and wrote the lyrics and put it together.”
- Denny Laine
“‘Mull of Kintyre’ came about [when] we were in Scotland. I went round to Paul’s one day and he had the chorus. That’s the song, I think. The chorus. We were inspired by Scotland, so I helped with the lyrics”
- Denny Laine
Thank you for giving some love to “Back to the Egg.” Definitely an underrated album and one of my favourite albums of all time!
Tug of War is phenomenal.
Just discovered your channel Michael, fantastic. Best wishes from Scotland 🏴
Pretty Little head had a pretty cool video.
My list with favorites from each album in parentheses:
1. Flaming Pie (Little Willow, Somedays, Beautiful Night, Calico Skies)
2. Ram (Monkberry Moon Delight, Dear Boy, Smile Away, Long Haired Lady)
3. Memory Only Full (House of Wax, Dance Tonight, You Tell Me, The End of the End)
4. Venus and Mars (Love in Song, Letting Go, Call Me Back Again, You Gave Me the Answer
5. Band on the Run (1985, Mrs. Vanderbilt, Band on the Run)
6. Egypt Station (Despite Repeated Warnings, Happy With You, Hand in Hand)
7. Chaos and Creation in the Backyard ( Jenny Wren, English Tea, This Never Happened Before)
8. Wings at the Speed of Sound (Beware My Love, Silly Love Songs, Warm and Beautiful)
9. Tug of War (Here Today, Wanderlust, Tug of War)
Every single time!😉👌❤️👍🫢
I have 3 on this list. 1 & 2…….totally agree!❤️
Thanx Phylis!
Good list. On my personal list I would have Band on the Run at #1 and Ram at #2, but those are just my personal taste.
I agree with most of your choices, with the exception of Red Rose Speedway. It would be in my top 5.
Best musicology on UA-cam
Thanx, Vic! Seriously!❤️
Top notch vid
Thanx, Saifon!
Also, glad Ballroom Dancing got a shout out, one of my personal faves!
I PICKED THEM BEFORE YOU SAID THEM. BECAUSE THE LAST FOUR ARE MINE TOO. TOTALLY AGREE
My top 10 albums:
1. RAM
2. Band on the Run
3. Flaming Pie
4. Chaos and Creation in the Backyard
5. Egypt Station
6. Tug of War
7. Memory Almost Full
8. Venus and Mars
9. McCarteny
My list:
10. Mccartney II
9. New
8. Chaos And Creation
7. Egypt Station
6. Tug Of War
5. Memory Almost Full
4. Back To The Egg
3. Flaming Pie
2. Ram
1. Band On The Run
I like a lot of his more recent albums. The voice isn't as good as it was in the 70s, but the overall quality of the songs is better.
Love Flowers in the dirt, Gilmour is gold.
Yes, I agree Jose!
FITD missed the list by just THAT much! And one of my favs!
I saw him on that tour and was disappointed he only played like 4 songs from FITD! At least 75% of that album was tourable, man!
@@MichaelNoland-TheBottomLine You have more than one agree with you. Many more I would suggest.
yay someone else likes Pretty Little Head - there I was thinking I was the only person in existence who loved that song.

Michael, have you ever thought of picking an artist say Creedence, and telling a story of their history? An hour documentary on each artist etc. You would be perfect.
Creedence is coming, Carl! Longer videos are always a possibility!
McCartney is a great album,. An album I've loved since my first listen. Still if I want some McCartney my first choice is always Band on the Run.
I had a bootleg of the Beatles working on a few of the songs that McCartney released on his first album
Chaos and Creation In The Backyard should definitely be in the top 3!!!!
An amazing album!!!!!!
1. Band On The Run
2. Venus And Mars
3. London Town
4. Ram
5. Live And Let Die
6. Wings Over America
7. At The Speed Of Sound
8. Thrillington
9. Wings Greatest
Even with my enormous head in the way? I thought that alone was enough!! Sorry about that, Chief!😉👌❤️👍🫢😵💫
Great ! Lovely ideas ! WE
Great discussion….great list although I would have ranked Ram over McCartney but I wouldn’t get in a fist fight over this issue.
The Press to Play album cover is McCartney’s Double Fantasy.
Red Rose Speedway, McCartney, and Ram are my favorites.
Any ranking that don't put Band on the run on the number one deserves a thumb up from me.
Although I was disappointed that you left out Speed of Sound....(I still stand by Beware My Love:)
Most albums mentioned here I bought on LP years ago and haven't listened to them in ages.
Beware My Love is a masterpiece, Warren! Speed of Sound was next up for the Top 10, and missed the spot by THAT much!
Low Fidelity is recording on home equipment without engineers interfering.....preferebly on a farm in Scotland and some wine ,grass 🥕
@@jasfan8247 Thanks for clearing that up for me! I suppose I was wanting to confuse photography with music.
How can you put press to play over speed of sound!!!!!
I know, I know, Stuart!
But I did put Speed of Sound as an album of true merit! If this had been a list of 11, it would have been there! Beware My Love was worth the purchase for the whole album! Love it!
dont forget she'[s my baby!
Back to the Egg is my favorite Wings album.
Ram is Billy and his writing teams best album.
Damn that Mr. Shears! He just won’t die! Paul can die, but billy keeps on going like the energizer bunny!
Brilliant comments
Dome Mike-sama! I shall explore these.IMVHO "Too many people" is my fav,.......'Too many people pulled and pushed around.Too many people sleeping late!.That was you last mistake,....."

@@MichaelNoland-TheBottomLine English, round eye!!! LOL!🤣
I'm new to this channel do you talk about the rolling stones
Lets hear it for 'Morse moose and the grey goose'!!
Why doesn't Paul reissue Egg and London Town on CD?
It's interesting that ALL top LP choices of McCartney after the Beatles were one of his first three efforts as a solo artist. A similar trait with all similar reviews of other artists.
Red Rose Speedway is amazing
Yes Ram is awesome
1. Venus & Mars
2. RAM
3. Band on the run
Nice line up. Great taste.
It’s certainly the closets in style, RA!👌😉👌❤️👍
I have many of these albums..in vinyl, but McCartney’s output was never the same after John Lennon was murdered, imo. Paul wrote to impress John. They had a competition in that regard which brought out the best in both.
I would love to have a drink with you talk beatles stuff
Join us on Royce in the House, George!
Grab a cup of java, and type away, brother!
Better yet, add a drop (or 4!) of brandy to that cup a! I 😉
I think its great that you separated the two Paul McCartneys' for the most part.
