Couldn't agree more. Just because it's Rick instead of Gilmour doesn't mean there's less emotion in it. Go and watch the intro and outro of Echoes at Gdansk again and then tell me there is no emotion. Honestly, that middle part is one of those classic elements that makes it a PF song. I'm very disappointed you didn't rank the MORE album. Where is MORE ??????? Every song on More is sung by David Gilmour, you said you're a big Gilmour fan so I'm very surprised you didn't rank that, it's one of my favourite studio albums. Cymbaline is a amazing song, The Nile Song and Ibiza Bar have that fun "Not Now John" kind of vibe, I'm sure you'd love those songs. Then you have The Crying Song, beautiful song and of course Cirrus Minor, the opening track. I also really love Green is the Colour
That's a soundtrack so I didn't want to include on the list, I agree with you, The Nile Song and Green is the Colour are my favorites from the soundtrack album.
I agree about the final cut. It os underrated and a main reason for this is that it did not have any big hits. If it had one or two it would be viewed totally differently.
While some of our choices may be different, I enjoyed the explanations you provided for your choices. Here is how I enjoy them: 1. The Piper at the Gate of Dawn 2. Dark Side of the Moon 3. Animals 4. A Saucerful of Secrets 5. The Wall 6. Wish You Were Here 7. Meddle 8. Obscured By Clouds 9. The Final Cut 10. Division Bell 11. Atom Heart Mother 12. More 13. Endless River 14. A Momentary Lapse of Reason 15. Umagumma
Meddle #1, lesgooooo! I know Echoes makes this album, but even without it, there's some great, emotionally uplifting PF stuff here. And I too find Wright's keyboard part in Dogs too much. Good vid! \m/
I actually largely agree with most of what you said, so no hate. Personally, I'm not a fan of Waters as a person, but I can't deny his talent and skill. I'm much more of a Gilmore guy, but what you said about The Wall is spot on. That album came out a month after I was born; I grew up with it... and don't listen to it much anymore on purpose so I can better appreciate their other music. Umaguma is my father's favorite, but I find it almost impossible to listen to. Dar Side is, of course, an excellent album. But the first time I heard One of These Days? Blown away. I'm glad you put Pulse where it belongs. It never made sense to me that people that purported to be Pink Floyd fans that I knew didn't care for it. It's older men, more matured, more professional, their music aged like fine wine. Sorrow? Nnff!! Division Bell is one I keep going back to again and again as well. So much good stuff there. Anyway, thanks.
Final cut is underrated and i have ALOT of love for it, specially two suns in the sunset. But It feels like its missing something, and that something is Rick.
To me the golden era was Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall. Outside of that, I go from one side to the other, in that I love Echoes but also A Momentary Lapse Of Reason.
Ι love most these three, equally : Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, Animals. But of course Dark Side, Wish You Were Here and The Wall, are also amazing albums. The early - before Atom Heart - albums, are very interesting too. The Final Cut, well, i never warmed up to it, and the after Roger Waters departure albums, may be good, but they sound very much like David Gilmour solo albums to me. There are the two OST lps too, but these are not albums in the actual sense, in my opinion.
I believe that the 3 albums of Pink Floyd that best represents their music, creativity, songwriting and production (post Syd Barrett), would be "Dark Side Of The Moon," "Wish You Were Here," and "The Wall."
Just because I want to disagree, even though you have solid arguments, here's my top 5 (not including PULSE): 1 & 2 : Division Bell & Final Cut on a par, because they are respectively peak Gilmour and peak Waters (yes I'm a Roger fan ^^). Striking technicality and touching lyrics in TDB ; the whole "what have we done" aesthetics of thel yrics and the heart-stabbing vocals of Rogers in FC 3 : The Wall. Absolute masterpiece, insanely tragic and visceral story. I always air-guitar to Comfortably Numb. 4 : Dark Side because of Time and Us & Them (and I actually also like the REDUX because it's like a story time album, it's meant to look back and for you to be taken aback by the stories between the songs. I'm very sensitive to storytelling so that's my high) 5 : Lapse of reason because of the strong 80's and ambiant vibe, especially on Round and Around which left a strong ethereal impression in my teenage ears The rest is alright to me, I could die for one or two songs here and there, but that's not enough to my ears to make any other entire album stand out.
The Wall is far too depressing. Genius, but depressing. Its such a hard listen. For me its Animals, it has an incredible flow to it. Going back to Pulse don't forget the reason they toured that year (94) is to promote The Division Bell, so it's no surprise Great Day for Freedom is included on Pulse as they were still promoting The Division Bell.
I respect that, I also agree with you, wall is very depressing. I also agree with you on pulse about great day for freedom. Still, this is just wishful thinking :)
I’m with you with Animals and/or Meddle at no. 1. I also agree that The Final Cut gets a lot of totally undeserved trash, it is in fact really good. I’m not sure most people would agree that Dark Side should go below The Wall in the eyes of the general audience, though. Ps. What happened to More?
Decent list. The Wall is way lower for me though, I just think musically it’s not particularly great aside from a few songs, comfortably numb being the obvious one. Gilmour’s a far better singer than Roger too and his voice isn’t heard much on The Wall. It’s more musical theatre to me and that’s not really my thing. 1. Wish you were here 2. Animals 3. Dark Side of the Moon 4. Meddle 5. The Wall
Album I like A LOT !: 01. Wish You Were Here (Doug Sax 1994) 02. The Animals 2019 Remix 03. The Wall 2011 Discovery 04. The Dark Side of the Moon 50th anniversary 05. Atom Heart Mother (Doug Sax 1994) 06. Meddle (Doug Sax 1994) 07. The Division Bell (original 1994) 08. A Momentary Lapse of Reason (original 1987) Quite ok but nothing special: 09. Obscured by Clouds Album I really don't like: 10. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn 11. A Saucerful of Secrets 12. Ummagumma 13. More 14. The Final Cut 15. The Endless River
Hmmm. It would appear certain Floyd albums have been left out. Admittedly "Relics", "Works", and "A Collection of Great Dance Songs" are compilation albums with, at least, one unreleased track. However, later releases of "Zabriskie Point" and, definitely, "More" are certainly worth a mention IMHO. Shine on...
All these musical ratings are rather pointless in my opinion. But I loved your explanations, stressing the things that impressed you, the good parts and also the not so good ones. Everything is subjective in the end. I can feel your emotion and that's the purpose of music. I've been listening to Pink Floyd since my childhood and I've found that my perception for some of their pieces changed over time (in a positive way). And my fav piece is probably Shine On You Crazy Diamond (both the starting and the ending pieces). I regret that in their later live performances some of the guitar work is missing. I also wish to have both pieces played as one as it was originally intended. There's a story that it was split because it wouldn't fit on one side of the LP.
I can't listen to Uma gumma or medle or much of animals. My top 4...Dark side, wish you were here, the Wall, momentary lapse of reason. All other stuff I love watching live vs listening to the whole album. 5 and 6 are on an island and rattle that lock. After Roger doesn't change anything for me. Roger is a great poet but David Gilmour is pink floyd to me.
What about More? WTIO lyrics were writen by Anthony Moore, not Rick (btw it's my favorite song in TDB). My Top 5 (studio albums only): 1 Dark Side 2 WYWH 3 Animals 4 The Wall 5 Meddle But I really like all of them...
I agree with you on Endless River, it's a great instrumental album, but the lyrics are not good, they should have left it as a pure instrumental album. I also agree with you on Ummagumma on the bottom, but all Pink Floyd albums are good albums, so it's really hard to order them. But you got Division Bell and The Final Cut way too low, they are both masterpieces. They are 2 of my favorite albums of all time. And you forgot More! Such an awesome album which shows Roger Waters early brilliant songwriting skills. The Wall is great as a concept and movie, but as a album where you want to listen from start to finish, it would be better as a single album instead of a double, that's the only reason it's lower for me. Here is my list, but 1-5 are perfect albums, so it's hard to order them. I didn't include live albums, PULSE, Live At Pompeii and Delicate Sound of Thunder, but they are all 3 number 1 :) 1. Wish You Were Here 2. The Dark Side of the Moon 3. Animals 4. The Division Bell 5. The Final Cut 6. The Wall 7. Meddle 8. Obscured by Clouds 9. More 10. A Momentary Lapse of Reason 11. Atom Heart Mother 12. A Saucerful of Secrets 13. The Endless River 14. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn 15. Ummagumma

IMO, the most underrated Pink Floyd albums are Obscured By Clouds and The Division Bell. Ergo, I think OBC and TDB are ranked too low on your list. Speaking of underrated albums, I wonder whether you've listened to the 2019 remix of A Momentary Lapse Of Reason? James Guthrie did a great job of taking the 80's sheen off AMLOR and IMO, it is much better than several albums (e.g., Saucerful Of Secrets, Ummagumma, The Final Cut, Atom Heart Mother) ranked above it on your list. In terms of The Wall, it has too much filler and way too much of Water's meandering/talky vocals coupled with an inability to create memorable melodies. Gilmour's vocals, basslines (e.g., Hey You), amazing guitar solos and his focus on melody were the main reason for this albums incredible success. In terms of Dark Side Of The Moon, it is arguably the greatest progressive rock album of all-time.
I understand where you're coming from and you got great points, but like every list on UA-cam, this is not objective by a looong shot. Honestly, Atom Heart Mother is extremely underrated, but not the whole album. Aside from the title track and Summer 68, it's not my style. I don't even know what the hell is Ummagumma, the worst thing they have ever produced. And I of course listened to 2019 remix, On The Turning Away and Sorrow are legendary, I much prefer the older version of Dogs of War but rest seems same for me.
@@mustyguitar lmao. still, great video: your points are motivated, explained, you know what you’re talking about. It’s the best PF ranking video I have seen and it’s very enjoyable to watch you talk about it 10/10
I feel like Piper being a “pop album” doesn’t really tell me a lot about why you dislike it. Is it an issue of them not being able to play rhythmic cords? Because that feels like the point of the album to work as a powerful subversion of expectations of what a rock album. It walks a line it believe the record walks it well
15. The Endless River 14. A Momentary Lapse of Reason 13. The Division Bell 12. Ummagumma 11. More 10. Obscured by Clouds 9. A Saucerful of Secrets 8. Atom Heart Mother 7. Piper at the Gates of Dawn 6. The Final Cut 5. Meddle 4. Animals 3. The Wall 2. Wish You Were Here 1. Dark Side of the Moon
Neil Peart is a better lyricist than Roger after 1980 you Rock and Metal Combat Podcast loving scumbag. Since you suck on Roger Waters’ phallus You also believe Rush was only great from 1974-81 and hate their synth era from 1982-91, Van Halen was only superb with David Lee Roth and detest Sammy Hagar (calling it Van Gina) and Gary Cherone, Paul Di’anno era Iron Maiden is better than Bruce Dickinson, every Judas Priest album with Rob Halford is great, Styx went to crap after Pieces of Eight and love Tommy Shaw, Black Sabbath invented Heavy Metal NOT Led Zeppelin and ask your mom jokes.
man the piper at the gates of dawn is not a pop album… it is one of the most important psichedelic album of the all time sperimenting on different aspects including also a piece of concrete music in the last part of bike. And creating sound never heard before in that period
creating "sound" never heard before in that period doesn't make an album good. "Creativity" on it's own is nothing. I can create gibberish sounds for you right now and I'll get trashed instantly. Not that the end of Bike is gibberish, I'm just giving an example. though, doesn't really matter because these are all opinions of ours. Me saying it's a pop album is my opinion and you saying it's one of the most important albums of all time is another opinion. I understand your ideas and it of course deserves a respect, which I fully give!
I once had "Momentary..." on a cassette for listening in the car. At one point, I involuntarly flipped the "side change" switch, which led me to the other half of the album... To hear the very same guitar solo. In the same keys, with the same sound setup, and same background. Since that day, I found out all guitar solos from the Gilmour era sound exactly the same.
nah, I don't buy that. If we're talking about the same interview, he's like "yeah yeah they are the best (oh god I'm fkin bored of this sh*t)" ua-cam.com/video/kTcHe1UCRXk/v-deo.html at the end. even that playful answer "very" to the "you're humble" makes it very obvious that he doesn't share the same thoughts as beatles fans.

10: Endless River
9: The Final Cut
8: Obscured By Cloud’s
7: Piper at the Gates of Dawn
6: Meddle
5: Division Bell
4: The Wall
3: Dark Side of the Moon
2: Animals
1: Wish You Were Here
I'm very disappointed you didn't rank the MORE album.
Animals, Wall, Dark Side. And Piper is a very special album that stays for his own.
I agree about the final cut. It os underrated and a main reason for this is that it did not have any big hits. If it had one or two it would be viewed totally differently.
My personal top 5 ranking:
5: The Division Bell
4: Animals
3: The Wall
2: Dark Side of the Moon
1: Wish you were Here
While some of our choices may be different, I enjoyed the explanations you provided for your choices. Here is how I enjoy them:
1. The Piper at the Gate of Dawn
2. Dark Side of the Moon
3. Animals
4. A Saucerful of Secrets
5. The Wall
6. Wish You Were Here
7. Meddle
8. Obscured By Clouds
9. The Final Cut
10. Division Bell
11. Atom Heart Mother
12. More
13. Endless River
14. A Momentary Lapse of Reason
15. Umagumma
a valiant effort at an impossible task. respect for putting the wall #1
my next attempt is ending the roger and david feud.
Meddle #1, lesgooooo!
I know Echoes makes this album, but even without it, there's some great, emotionally uplifting PF stuff here.
And I too find Wright's keyboard part in Dogs too much. Good vid! \m/
I absolutely agree that Echoes is their best song.. Shine On is a close 2nd.
Great list man!!
The wall. Simple as😮
Dogs albümü hep underrated gelmiştir bana, burda 3 numarada görmek hoş oldu
Hot take, but my personal top 5 would probably be:
1. Saucerful
2. Meddle
3. Dsotm
4. WYWH
5. Piper
saucerful? cmooon....
@@mustyguitar i will die on that hill
Some great stuff on saucerful.
Echoes gerçek Pink Floyd fanlarının listesinin zirvesindedir.Mükemmel tespit.(Abi pedal videosu ne zaman gelir?Delayı aldım bekliyom:D)
My top 5: WYWH, Dark Side, Animals, Meddle, Division Bell. Top 5 as in those I listen to the most.
Good list.
As for #1 ?
Animals
The Wall
Dark side of the moon
Wish you were here
Take your pick.
Their all phenomenal.
Yes! maybe my top 5 would be Wish You Were Here, Meddle, The Wall, TDSOTM, Obscured by Clouds, hate me lol
As another die hard Pink Floyd fan, I actually agreed with every ranking.
Spot on about the endless river.
Great review! Agree with you.
I believe that the 3 albums of Pink Floyd that best represents their music, creativity, songwriting and production (post Syd Barrett), would be "Dark Side Of The Moon," "Wish You Were Here," and "The Wall."
8:33 That’s the best way anyone has ever said „Atom Heart Mother“. Sounds so badass with the Russian/Balkan accent but I suppose anything does.
Just because I want to disagree, even though you have solid arguments, here's my top 5 (not including PULSE):
1 & 2 : Division Bell & Final Cut on a par, because they are respectively peak Gilmour and peak Waters (yes I'm a Roger fan ^^). Striking technicality and touching lyrics in TDB ; the whole "what have we done" aesthetics of thel yrics and the heart-stabbing vocals of Rogers in FC
3 : The Wall.
I'm very sensitive to storytelling so that's my high)
5 : Lapse of reason because of the strong 80's and ambiant vibe, especially on Round and Around which left a strong ethereal impression in my teenage ears
The rest is alright to me, I could die for one or two songs here and there, but that's not enough to my ears to make any other entire album stand out.
I respect that
@@mustyguitarIt's kinda crazy that Pink Floyd can catter to all sorts of affinities. It makes them that much better than another band.
Jesus. I agree with some of what u say. And disagree violently with most of it. Crazy we're both huge fans.
@@langerdan11 Haha man, no worries. Cheers!
Obscured by clouds IMO was when David Gilmour semented his style.
It's the perfect combination early Floyd and the Floyd we know
I cannot agree with someone who doesn't put More in the list, their 3rd studio album
nah fr, More is over hated and underrated, yeah it’s not very good but definitely not bad and some songs just slap
@@andrew_lev I actually really like More, with Green Is The Colour being my favorite off the album
It's a soundtrack, geez, if I thought I was gonna race with satan in terms of evil, I would add it to the list
@@mustyguitar Sorry, I was just trying to joke around
I would listen to umma befor the final cut.
1. Wish you were here
2. Animals
3. Dark Side of the Moon
4. Meddle
5. The Wall
I still think the same, but I agree with you.
100% agree on The Wall.
Fans think dark side is number 1 but REAL fans know Animals is number 1 bwahahahahaha!!! Animals rules!
Album I like A LOT !:
01. Wish You Were Here (Doug Sax 1994)
02. The Animals 2019 Remix
03. The Wall 2011 Discovery
04. The Dark Side of the Moon 50th anniversary
05. Atom Heart Mother (Doug Sax 1994)
06. Meddle (Doug Sax 1994)
07. The Division Bell (original 1994)
08. A Momentary Lapse of Reason (original 1987)
Quite ok but nothing special:
09. Obscured by Clouds
Album I really don't like:
10. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
11. A Saucerful of Secrets
12. Ummagumma
13. More
14. The Final Cut
15. The Endless River
For me: 1. Wywh; 2. Animals, 3. Dsotm; 4. Meddle, 5. The wall...
1. Animals
2. The dark side of the Moon
3. Wish You Were here
the wall would of made it probably had it of been a single release and not double
Gilmour's wife writes the lyrics from what I've seen him say.
He does that often (which sometimes works), doesn't change the fact that when he writes, he writes real good.
Is your blue guitar with texas specials a Made in America or Made in Mexico model? Also what model is it actually?
1.animals
2.wish you were here
3. middle
now this is a great comment, straight to the point. big respect
Dude you're not a die hard Pink Floyd fan until you've created a 46 cd compilation called Eclipsed like I did!
You got me…
What about More?
WTIO lyrics were writen by Anthony Moore, not Rick (btw it's my favorite song in TDB).
My Top 5 (studio albums only):
1 Dark Side
2 WYWH
3 Animals
4 The Wall
5 Meddle
But I really like all of them...
it's actually a collab, I think I should've mentioned Anthony Moore...
Anthony Moore also wrote the lyric to "On The Turning Away".
I didn't include live albums, PULSE, Live At Pompeii and Delicate Sound of Thunder, but they are all 3 number 1 :)
1. Wish You Were Here
2. The Dark Side of the Moon
3. Animals
4. The Division Bell
5. The Final Cut
6. The Wall
7. Meddle
8. Obscured by Clouds
9. More
10. A Momentary Lapse of Reason
11. Atom Heart Mother
12. A Saucerful of Secrets
13. The Endless River
14. The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
15. Ummagumma
Musty, Which floyd songs or Gilmour solo album did he use the ibanez compressor pedal? you should make a lesson video about how gilmour stacks boss compressor+ibanez compressor or dyna comp mxr + ibanez compressor pedal.

Well, I disagree with what you're saying but I'll defend to the death your right to say it. 😁
In my opinion Pink Floyd without Roger Waters is Pink Fraud.
I wouldn't go that far, but yeah, pink floyd is not %100 pink floyd without roger.
Rogers solo career is underrated imo, he has some fantastic work post floyd
And I of course listened to 2019 remix, On The Turning Away and Sorrow are legendary, I much prefer the older version of Dogs of War but rest seems same for me.
did I really see Piper below the Endless River and Final Cut
Yeah I can confirm by typing
@@mustyguitar lmao.
still, great video: your points are motivated, explained, you know what you’re talking about. It’s the best PF ranking video I have seen and it’s very enjoyable to watch you talk about it
10/10
I feel like Piper being a “pop album” doesn’t really tell me a lot about why you dislike it. Is it an issue of them not being able to play rhythmic cords? Because that feels like the point of the album to work as a powerful subversion of expectations of what a rock album. It walks a line it believe the record walks it well
Yeah im the one who choses Meddle on top
Hey man. You forgot More!!
Yeah momentary lapse is definitive proof that newer and state of the art doesnt always mean better. Especially not for the 80s
You missed More

Neil Peart is a better lyricist than Roger after 1980 you Rock and Metal Combat Podcast loving scumbag.
Since you suck on Roger Waters’ phallus You also believe Rush was only great from 1974-81 and hate their synth era from 1982-91, Van Halen was only superb with David Lee Roth and detest Sammy Hagar (calling it Van Gina) and Gary Cherone, Paul Di’anno era Iron Maiden is better than Bruce Dickinson, every Judas Priest album with Rob Halford is great, Styx went to crap after Pieces of Eight and love Tommy Shaw, Black Sabbath invented Heavy Metal NOT Led Zeppelin and ask your mom jokes.
man the piper at the gates of dawn is not a pop album… it is one of the most important psichedelic album of the all time sperimenting on
different aspects including also a piece of concrete music in the last part of bike.
You don’t care for “welcome to the machine” ?? Wtf 😂
Piper #15, Endless #9.
4:19 I MUST stop the video right here, no sense at all
I once had "Momentary..." on a cassette for listening in the car. At one point, I involuntarly flipped the "side change" switch, which led me to the other half of the album... To hear the very same guitar solo. In the same keys, with the same sound setup, and same background. Since that day, I found out all guitar solos from the Gilmour era sound exactly the same.
Where is the best album on live???
I mean: There anybody out there album

I think so since you put obscured by clouds on the list which is technically also a soundtrack. Otherwise it's a cool list.
where would you put it if it was included?
Damn, he hates More so much he didn't even mention it. I know we all those urges sometimes, but you have to suppress them
I don't hate it, it's great but it was a soundtrack so I didn't include it.

Pink Floyd does not do fun? How about Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered in a Cave and Groving With a Pict.
Hey mate what’s wrong with the beatles even gilmour said they are the greatest band ever

even that playful answer "very" to the "you're humble" makes it very obvious that he doesn't share the same thoughts as beatles fans.

The Piper at the Gates of Dawn is their best album. Pink Floyd sucks without Syd. You are making a complete fool of yourself by ranking it 15...
the fact that you don't put Dark side #1 makes your list invalid 😒👎
