it's actually super refreshing to watch one of these older DIY videos. the tools they used weren't being marketed, it was almost entirely about the planning process. 1% warning you that it was hard, 99% teaching you the thought process to make it happen.
Stacy David is so cool. This rig is insanely beautiful, strong and awesome. I miss watching these shows back to back on Saturday mornings as a kid in the 90s.
I seen the video of the finished product. he was going into a drive thru. the employee said it’s to big. he put in front and rear steering it a monster for sure. with stacks. Love my stacks. !!
This is the best show on TV back in the day and it's still the best show on UA-cam today horsepower block TV was two advance for their time makes you wonder? What did they know?
Truck is completely legal in Oregon. Just can't be higher than 14 feet and it needs mud flaps all around if it's higher than 27 inches or the tires stick out like that.
I run the car maintenance UA-cam channel in Korea. I'm always learning such a great ideas on your channel. I hope we have a chance to be together. Thank you.
if any watches this . please know it is much easier and safer to build a frame from scratch . You can get rails from a semi at certain salvage yards .That is far cheaper . Forget those giant leaf springs . Use the coil springs from a 1 ton ford van . Everything is better , gone are those weird drop brackets for the springs ... The blue print table is the hard part . the assembly is the easy part .It has to work on the blue print table first . Better yet auto cad .No detail can be left out at the blew print table or you will have a hack job that looks like shit
never made any sense to me to jack up trucks but still the differential, axle, brake lines are still a foot and a half off the ground... maybe if you used cv jointed axles then boxed them in somehow you could get the diff off the ground a couple more feet.. idk
@@mikeford963 I have seen portal axles ... I am not sure they give you enough...they do give you about a foot though... plus for some reason I question their strength and reliability... but maybe something like that if you could get like 2-3 feet lift of the diff... idk its a very weak point for off road trucks.
@@zippythechicken Oh, I don't know. Seems to be strong enough for a militarily abused vehicle. Not to mention the added gear ratios internally. Plus, keep in mind, most things that you'll encounter down that center line are easily avoidable unless you're into deep muddy ruts.
Because the lift allows clearance for bigger tires, which raises everything, the larger tires give extra traction and clearance, so you will bounce through, over and across deeper shit.
Why does it sounds like all these guys weld up in Short Circuit transfer? Step it up to Globular or Spray. Way faster and better penetration. Also, downhand on a frame extension? Sketchy.
Just saw this series and you guys no longer have a "41 Dodge military truck" you have a shell of a truck everything else is not from a 41 ... And to see you just throw all the parts off the truck that made it a 41 into the ground just made me shake my head. And even the "cab" is not a 41 Dodge military truck .. so all you have is a firewall from a 41 Dodge military truck... And from the looks of it you don't even have the frame from it under the half Dodge shell...
@@TheRoadhammer379 i recall him saying that. still in all the 4x4 they made while cool is not a 41 dodge its just a shell ... and sd you pointed out even the shell is not 100% ...
It was not rare, it was cobbled together by the previous owner, it had parts of an International cab welded to the original sheet metal, and the bed was not original either. The truck was far from original and rare. He has a vid where he explained it.
TheRoadhammer379 so I saw what you wrote before. I wasn’t saying Stacey did a hack job. Stacey is the man and I subscribe to Gearz now because of his knowledge. He has forgotten more than I’ll know. I’m a novice. My point was the truck itself, the original truck, when it was yellow, was a hack job. The PO or somebody before him hacked on it

I like how Stacey explains the process of fabrication.
I remember being like 13 or 14 when this show aired, now im older and i actually understand what Stacey is saying 😂😂 this show is timeless

I use to watch this guy 20 years ago
When that hair do was in style.
He's still doing projects

I can't believe he picked up that leaf spring pack by himself. A standard 1/2 ton pack is pretty gnarly, that would be brutal!
This guy is like a smarter version of Scotty Kilmer. He isn’t biased at all
Welcome to the ninteys and spike tv

"I HAVE THAT SAME YELLOW TOOL BOX" nice choice!
I'm watching this video, and loving it. In a few minutes I'll go outside and climb into my Tesla Model 3. What a difference 10-12 years makes.

Those big Rockwell Axles are unbreakable
Wish I could go back to 2005...
👍's up guys thanks for taking us along with you
That was super sweet
I remember watching this build while I was still in high school. Wonder what Stacey is up to these days.
He's got his own show, called Gearz
Absolutely Feckin Awesome
Good Power Nation 👍
STACEY DAVID IS THE MAN
Dodge 1941 truck with modern technology, classic look with great performance!!!

I bet this is where the Diesel Brother's got their ideas from. Using old military parts to build trucks.
Um no, we've been building trucks using old military parts for 30+ years in the South. That's where everyone gets the idea from.
That place is waaaaay too clean!!
Extended frame, perfect reason to add a nasty bumper and winch.

THE car maintenance channel there huh? There’s only one?
Great build - you should be around -5 gallons per mile now
Guy Witscher who cares, it’s all about smiles per gallon on a truck like that
So we'll be gaining gas then. Sick
It's not a daily driver, 🤦♂️
This truck is going to be underivable with this axels and springs.

Love this Show
sensible chuckle
What was the original air date for this episode?
@18:10 It says Copyright 2005. Doesn't say original air date.
How can we get a replica of Stacey's mullet ?????
Classic
Sick
With leaf springs like that, you could’ve welded a pipe from the frame to the axle and gotten better ride quality
I tighten my beadloks 180 in lbs never had a problem
The original green diesel: Detroit
If i could i would biy the truck str8 from TURCKS! out right butt i don't have f u money so u got to built my self and I.
You are country sir i am indain big fan u

How do you put a new piston and rings in an engine without a ring compretion tool !!!!!!!!!!
Sledgehammer
Come on that's not a truck, that's a tank with wheels and rubber.
Box the frame ?
Yes, it was boxed and reinforced.
So this truck was this show and gearz?
he owns the truck, it was never Trucks vehicle. I believe he negotiated to purchase it on the cost of the mods
Isn’t legal in any state... except Texas 😂
I wonder why that truck project has a suspension for 6 tons of weight??
This show was for the do-it-yourself crowd. Here, he's using about $1,000 in jack stands. LoL
Nah, some stuff was for DIYer but some was just cool projects to keep an audience
Blumpy in the rain ????
Ok but me being a big rig mechanic can tell you it's more complicated than that when rebuilding a big engine. Especially caterpillars
It's a simplified explanation, not as indepth as you know it.
Random N14 segment
The not-so inframe demo
that was not the n14, it was a big cam 400
😲😲😀😀👍🚜
Do not get your hand dirty !!!!!!!!
These springs are way too heavy, too stiff.
The ride quality in this truck is not going to be good until you would air the tires down to 5 psi,I guess?
Friend under the table sounds like he hold this crankshaft in his mouth :D

I love the old school late night porn music.
the frame doesn't look strong enough to handle mods
He did major boxing and reinforced it in many spots

It was 2 different trucks in one. The cab itself was a 47 international spliced to a dodge front end. It was a hack job.
