- I show you how I stopped my dog having hot spots and itchy skin.. I tell you how to prevent dog hot spots. How to treat a dog hot spot and if your dog has a hot spot that you have lost control of, what you should ask for at the vets.
I forgot to say about baths. I found that bathing dogs could cause a hot spot. The bath itself didn't cause the hot spot but it brought any out that were under the skin. I only bath Albert my dog once a year.

WARNING. Never use neat tea tree oil on your dog. Never use your own dilution of tea tree oil.. It's dangerous. Only use cream specially made for dogs with tea tree oil in it.
This is what I do. A bit simpler.
Careful, if that water runs down her throat, she will get infected there too! It is very infectious!
No water, keep it dry! Shaviing is good, cleansing with special medicated shampoo is good, but do not let it run!
Then I use Betadine , several times per day for the first 2-3 days or until you see a brown crust.
And to protect the injury from flies, I use lots of dry antiseptic powder. Keeps the wound dry too!
WORKS EVERYTIME!
Never ever ignore a wetspot, as they can grow incredibly fast over night!!! They are very itchy to very sore. Scratching will indrocuce new bacteria aswell and make it a very wet wound. It may even get secondary infection. Then you will need the vet for antibiotic injection, yuk! ......Hence you need to act IMMEDIATELY ! 🤗
Where can I purchase the Piriton tablets at i need to know my Luna just want stop itching and she has been free from fleas since I got her a year ago she’s a year old
Your brilliant! Ty!
Thank you. I hope your dog heals from hotspots quickly.
Thank you so much for your video. It has been a life change for my Ace. He looks happier which makes our family happy. The vets couldn't even point his problem. I just can't praise enough.
That makes me so happy. I'm so glad your dog has been helped.
try using colloidal silver...just spray it on the hotspots ( or even infections in the eye etc..anywhere ) without removing any fur and leave it for a few minutes and then do it again for 2 / 3 times and it will almost immediately remove the pain and discomfort and the healing process will take only a few days...works 100% everytime! Do it for your precious pet.........( it works even for kennel cough by drinking it....also works 100% everytime.....
Interesting. I've never heard of this.
Thank you
You are very welcome. I hope it helps your dog.
You said your video was long and boring, but I found it to be anything but that. The most pertinent point was the explanation about the jerking up motion, looking as if he's being bitten by something. I never knew that was an indication of a hot spot. So thanks. All that information was so valuable!
Thank you. The jerking is actually quite handy because you can put spray or cream on that area. Sometimes that prevents it from coming up. I really hope you manage to stop the hot spots soon. The poor things really do suffer with them.
sometimes when a bag says Grain-free...it isn't...bizarre but true...always check the ingredients list. and thanks for the video!
Yes very good point.
Great video, I have a Jack Russell who is Uber itchy and gets hotspots. I use tea tree on myself but was worried it was toxic for dogs?
@@highlandjournalart654 I wouldn't use neat tea tree oil but in dog creams it's excellent. My dogs often lick it off and no problems at all. It's the only cream I use. It works so well. I spent years trying other things but this did it. I'm so glad my video helped. I really hope your dog's hotspots stay away.
@@furryandspoilt thank you I will try it along with the other ideas .
Thank you! Very informative. I will try your solution.
My vet immediately prescribed prednisolone. My baby did get so thirty and hungry all the time. And the hot spot is still there😢. Sorry I saw this too late but will apply in the next time.
The poor darling. Please let me know if you need any help. I'm sure if you do the things I did, you will stop the hotspots and itching.
Thank you for this great info! Just a quick question, is white fish all fish other than salmon? For example, is tuna white fish that gives hot spots?
Great question. No tuna isn't white fish but it's too rich for dogs. I sometimes put it in homemade treats but never feed as food.
Hi I just came across your channel and seen this video.. my bichon has had terrible problems all her life, she is nearly 10 now and has the dreaded warts all over her. I was told to try pre, pro biotics but when I did she came out with even more wart/bumps on her skin. I started giving her coconut oil today then came across this video, hopefully it will be a lifesaver for us. Just ordered hibiscrub, the 2 tea tree products but wondering where you get your piriton from? She is raw fed just turkey as her allergies are really bad, can't even have tap water. But as bad as she is she doesn't moan, love her to bits. Thanks for this video I feel there's hope x
Yes there is hope. For the piriton, I type in piriton 4mg. Someimes it's a bit tricky to find but it works so well. I have 2 of my dogs on 2 tablets a day. It sounds like you are doing everything great. Would she be able to have tinned salmon oil. It really helps. All of my boys have a spoonful everyday. I really think you will see improvements fast. Please keep me updated on how she is doing.
@@furryandspoilt will search again for the Piriton. Today I bought salmon oil for dogs, hoping that will be the same. Thank you for making this video, didn't want to go back to the vets as I've never had good information from them x
@@furryandspoilt she is 5kg so would I just give her 1 tablet a day of 4mg or cut in half and give half twice a day?
@@jacquiwilliams267 I'd cut in half and give twice a day. When my boys first started on them, they got constipated. If that happens go to one half a day for a week and then back to two halves a day.
@@furryandspoilt thank you so much for helping, bought piriton today and given her half, fingers crossed this will all help. Bathed her in the hibiscrub then rubbed over her body with the t tree spray and used the t tree cream on her feet. If this all doesn't work I just don't know what to do 😪 x
Thank you so much for your information! Myself and my daughter both have cavapoo/bichon crosses; they are sister and brother from a rescue mum. They have hotspots randomly,,for obvious, and no reasons. My daughter is a vet addict, i am absolutely not, i much prefer alternative remedies. Hibi scrub was recomended, im a fan of coconut oil as a flea preventative, and skin soother, Ive just ordered some pro/pre biotics for their food. We tried them on raw but that esculated the hotspots - because we found out grains were added as bulk! I am going to follow your hard earned remedies. Your pooches look wonderful, and happy..well done!
It's great that you are helping your dogs. Hot spots are an awful thing but it sounds like you have a good understanding of your dogs needs x
Concise….!!!
Ive removed it for you@@beaubeaumont2747 ...!!!
Thank you for this video.
My Bichon has been extremely itchy lately and it hurts to see her this way. The vet changed her diet, and has put her on anti- allergy medication and she still is very itchy.
I am going to try the coconut oil, and everything else you suggested and I hope she gets some relief
I'm so sorry your little one is suffering. I'm certain you can get it all completely stopped. Please ask me if you need any help and please keep me updated.
@@furryandspoilt thank you for your concern. My little baby is so itchy. She also has dry skin. I have humidifier but it’s not helping. I rubbed some coconut oil on the dry skin of her belly and she licked it off- then she had diarrhea because she ate the coconut oil.
I have supplemented her diet with omega 3 fish oil ( two drops daily is what she can handle) it’s of no use. I use salmon kibble.
But I think her treats are not grain free.
I am going to make sure her diet is completely grain-free now
@@furryandspoilt again, thank you for you help. As a mom, I appreciate it
@@user-mi8xf8tq1z yes you need to get away from all grain. The grain turns to sugar, the sugar causes inflammation and itching. Don't put the coconut oil on the skin, feed a spoonful a day. Have you watched the videos in my hot spot playlist? My little Albert was in a terrible state but by doing the things in those videos he has been completely itch free for 9 years.
@@furryandspoilt I will watch all the videos today.
My Millie gets liquid poops with oil. So I will try to incorporate it in tiny amounts. Let’s see how she does
Thank you for the advice…….Where did you buy the large (500) piriton tablets from please
…..???
It changes. I type in piriton 4mg. I get it from wherever it's on offer.
White fish and beef ! I think you’re on to something here. I’ve tried different diets and proteins and those did cause flairs.
I've come up with a homemade recipe, it's cheap, healthy and grain free. It will stop hot spots. It will be on my channel in the next few hours.
Is rice a grain to avoid?
Good question. Yes it is.
I rub coconut oil on my dogs hot spot it’s antibacterial and heals up the spot faster than the antibacterial prescription ointments I get from the vet.
I feed the coconut oil to my dog. I found that rubbing it on the hot spot stopped the hot spot breathing. If it is infected then hibbi scrub is absolutely brilliant at cleaning it up. I get it on Amazon.
❤New subscriber, ive rescued a bishion frese 5months ago ..£300 vets bills later she still got problems, she keeps getting yeast infections in her ears and Hot spots , had an allergy test and she is allergic to most foods except Turkey..but her ears still same and all the vets says is steroids, but after hearing about steroids im worried..please Help 😢
Poor little thing. You are right steroids are terrible. Don't worry we will get this sorted. Firstly please tell me what food and treats you feed. I will look online at the composition.
@@furryandspoilt she only eats Turkey and Broccoli , that's what I've been giving her for over 2 months and the odd treat of sprats or dried goat ..she is 7yrs old ..I've sent you a message on Instagram x
@@furryandspoiltwe only feed her Turkey and Broccoli, I've sent you a message on insta explaining more , Any help much appreciated Thankyou 🙏🏽
@@Claire-be4gd I've responded to you on Instagram.
Can you use sardines instead of Salmon
The problem is, what are the sardines in. I don't use it because I can only get in in brime or vegetable oil.
Salmon is a source of Omegas. This is key.
Cod liver oil caps also do.
If you use sardines, buy them in olive oil.
What meats can I give my itchy dog
Lamb, turkey, chicken and salmon.
Your dogs hair is rather long for a dog that looks like it is part poodle. A “pig shave” would be better. By the brands of things you have on the counter I would say that you are not in America. I was trying to figure out what you were using things for and then I know what to try in my area.
I wouldn't ever pig shave a dog with hot spots. It would really irritate the skin.
Lady you do talk don’t ya
Yes I do. Does your dog have hot spots? Are you going to try anything I suggested?
I am!😊
