literally just watched a Dr. Oakley vet episode last night on why this tying off method is extremely dangerous. Let vets do their job, vet care is not a DIY project!
@@GUIDE_Nico because it hurts vets pocket books. Truth of the matter is that it isn't very dangerous at all and is done often. It's just a smaller method of what they do to castrate young bulls
I just had the vet surgically remove 3 growths on my dog’s skin. She’s a medium size mutt. The first growth on her paw on-top of the toe ,it was the largest of the three, and the size of a chickpea, it started out pale white and then it got darker black. The other two were more elongated and smaller. One was located under her back leg and the other was on top her back near her tail hard to see because of the fur. Vet is sending it out for biopsy to rule out cancer. In the mean time my dog is resting with a cone on her head and pain meds. I’m Back in 2 wks for stitches removal. Xing my fingers everything will be okay with results. Total cost $650 usd including nail trim. Expensive but worth the peace of mind and my dog’s wellbeing and comfort.
@@jozzy5322yes full anesthesia, she suffers from high anxiety and i have to medicate her even when she goes in for a regular visit. She’s fully recovered. Biopsy came back negative for cancer.
Comprehensive explanation for initial identification. Not so much in procedures, which should probably be done by a vet anyways, but the product links in the description have nothing to do with the issues in the video.
My dog started getting skin tags at age 11. So I’m gonna assume it’s just old age . Bc now he has multiples of them . They look ugly but I’ll just leave them alone .
Well, my dog just had a skin tag grow right back, in the same spot. I’m watching it until it’s large enough to pull off completely. Which I thought I did last time. Ironically, this is the first one that’s grown back of my 3 dogs that have had one, except now, the last one had two. I asked the vet to remove it and they told me it was a skin tag, not a wart and not contagious either. The vet said, “I should leave it alone & I’d just be wasting my money to remove it.” So, I’m gonna do it my way, again just for cosmetic reasons, I don’t want to look at it right on his snout! It took 2 years to decide to grow back. Then BooP! It started growing again.😊✌️
I did this on my dog. I wasn’t able to get it RIGHT AT skin level but it was pretty close. Took 3 days to fall off and you’d never know anything had been there. 10/10 will do it again. Note: it was recommended to me after I tried this with dental floss that a human hair is strong enough but much thinner and therefore works more quickly so I’ll be using a hair next time (if there is a next time).
@@jozzy5322 it was about half a grain of rice. And I didn’t get it close enough to the skin the first time so it came back a little. But I had my kids help me soothe and restrain him the second time and I got it right at the surface. It’s been over a year now and no growing back. Edit to add: when I did it the second time, I used floss again. Forgot about the hair. Lol
@@amandahugginkiss61 thankyou. my dogs tag was about 1/2 inch. I got it tied almost to the surface and its almost gone. am making sure it keeps clean til fully healed.
I was curious how to prevent skin tags but there’s no way I could do this to my dogs. I have rescues and they’ve been through enough trauma. I hope to God people aren’t doing this DIY stuff at home. Please find a vet that is reasonable but please don’t do this to your pets. Much love to you all❤
What if the vets all around your area wont see you for months and the skin tag is growing, tearing repeatedly, bleeding and causing pain? You watch this video and you get out the floss or you get out the scissors or whatever...✂️🪓🪚
That is just disgusting behaviour, people saying they just cut them off! That's just animal abuse. atleast the vets give the dog pain relief and numb the area properly.
My vet wants 200 to take off a skin tag that they themselves said will take 1 stitch to close. So ya i'll be taking care of that myself. If you would like to call it animal abuse😂😂 have at it!
@deannaleclerc5749 maybe try filling your pockets a little more so it's not so much of a problem for you. And if you can't afford to look after your animal don't have one 🤷
Not for me right now. It’s on my dogs back leg and keeps ripping open and bleeding nonstop. The vet wanted me to leave it but at this point it needs to be removed. My dog won’t leave it alone. I keep seeing so many things in doing it yourself but then other people come along saying don’t. At this point my inner farm girl says just do it.
My favorite method is to just “yank em off”. It bleeds!!! But no trimming hair unless really necessary. And don’t cut it off, it’ll just grow back. Use a styptic because it WILL bleed a lot, but should stop in just a few minutes. DO NOT use alcohol after you’ve removed it. Use hydrogen peroxide instead. Alcohol just makes it bleed a lot more. Good Luck.
Great info but could you please show pictures of various skin tags versus wart
Excellent video! Just what I needed. Gives me the courage to diy the job. Vet price was outrageous.
In my area, when I’ve called around, the prices have varied greatly. So be sure to call around to get general prices. 👍
@@bthompson1767yep mine wants $200 for a skin tag that will close with 1 stitch friggin ridiculous
300 for my dog to have one removed. Wild.
eeek! Thanks for the info. but I can't imagine trying any of the DIY suggestions... definitely will consult with our vet, thank you.

Great video! Thanks.
Finally, some real and helpful advice!
Please don't remove it by yourself. Take your dog to the vet.
the vet said its cancer and wanted $5k and to remove his foot. dog is happy boi. removed by ligation. still happy boi
If people could afford to they would the the prices are unreasonable
Super descriptive video not boring gets to the point and makes it easy for anyone to understand. Awesome job thank you. 🙏🏻 🐕🐄🦫🐕🇺🇸🥩🤟🏻🤟🏻😂
I just keeped putting salt over top on a daily basis and gently rubbing it and it fell off

Salt drys them out and they just fall off if you rub them and keep putting salt on a daily basis
Keep salting salting for days and days maybe even more rub softly keep salting for several days if bad rub slightly ea day

Do I leave the dental floss tightened to the tag until the skin tag falls off?
I’m curious about this, too!
Yes
Did it work? Is the dog in pain with the floss on the tag ?
Yes.
i use a rubber band

If I don’t get the tag RIGHT AT skin level, will it leave a little bump? Also, what is the likelihood that the tag will grow back afterwards?

a few examples would have helped.
Put salt directly on the skin tag on a daily basis into it just basically falls off took 3 days here
I would never remove a dog's skin tag on my own dog. Too many things could go wrong.
I thought it was a tick so I tried pulling it off then ended up pinching it and it bled a lit bit. Is that going to make it worse?
It will probably get dark. My dog suffers from tags and some are pinkish color and a few of them have turned black after he scratched them.

I'm fairly certain the video in the background is just stock footage, not the actual procedure.
