I'm a fan of this style of trailer since it reminds me of the days of amateur machinima, I loved those videos back in the day and still like em now.

This SFM has amazing quality for it being the first ever SFM released in 2005. Still amazing today

Damn 4 years late but it was an SFM, Very early version of SFM To be exact. They loaded a "Demo" Onto it. (Basically recorded game footage) So this is technically the first SFM.

There's such a rawness to this era of ww2 shooters that i feel modern games are missing, not sure what it is.
It's missing the jank and unpolished feeling, the crisp microphones and also tons and tons of OP weapons
No wokeness. I know that sounds Boomerish but it's true. Also back then they had to actually optimize and polish games (despite relative roughness) compared to diversity hire slop today.

I remember coming home from school back in 2008 and sneaking onto my fathers Steam account to play this gem. This was the first FPS I ever played, I loved it! Played it for years. I hope it’ll be revived some day.

@@CRT_YT Half-Life: Alyx is a masterpiece, but VALVe still hasnt given us anything on any other games, sure we're getting a lot of half life stuff (A chance MMod might get onto the steam store, more communication overall) but everything else has been radio silence, CSGO Got an operation i guess and TF2 Some buggy LOD Errors but besides that nothing has really come.

DoD is a very arcadey type of game. Gameplay wise is similar to TF2, fast paced competitive shooter. If you want a game similar to the trailer that takes more time, skill, and patience to play, try Red Orchestra 2, although most maps aren't set in towns that's all close by, the city maps have buildings spread out more than close together.
At 2:42, one of the German soldiers flew out of the building before the grenade even exploded.
Or it was just one of the grenades that was thrown deep in the building and wasn't seen due to the angle of the camera.
We want this game to continue, this is a masterpiece

That "Devil-Dogs 24/7 Omaha" server is still very much active, mostly during the late afternoons. The same people has been playing on that server for 15 years or so. It's really fun to play with other "old" people as myself.

There’s also the 1st Marine and 6th Ranger Battalion servers which are fully active with up to 32 players.
Devil Dogs and 6th Ranger Battalion are filled with angry old power tripping admins. 1st Marine Ranger Battalion is the only decent regular gameplay server. And Adult Gamers is a cool gun game server to play.

I remember the first time watching this trailer back in 2005..without a trace of hair on my face. At the conclusion of video I had a full grown beard. Just watched the entire thing again now in 2013 and instantly grew another beard. A true MANLY MAN game!

This is such a great trailer, reminds me of all the WW2 films I watched with my grandfather when I was a kid. I miss these old school WW2 movies. I've always wanted to visit France and go to these old villages, great history and great trailer.

That machine gunner is playing really badly, you do not want to just eternally fire because then you overheat. Instead, only fire when you see someone and you are golden. Also, the MG in the window should have seen the sniper and fired at him. And why did a rifleman not shoot a rifle grenade into the US sniper nest? You could have taken out the sniper in two ways and advanced.
