Wait till you see Equalizer 2.. Especially the opening scene. Denzel Washington is such a unique figure in Hollywood, he's one of a few, everything he touches just pure gold. He's truly amazing!🙌
I watched the original 80's series that this was based on. I had liked that show, but Denzel took it to a new level! I really enjoyed his take on the character the best! He is what I imagine Robert McCall to be.
I remember the series, but I don’t think I watched more than 2 or 3 episodes. At that time (85-89), I was busy running around, hanging with friend & partying, so I didn’t watch a lot of television during those years. When this movie came out, I remember being curious if they were basing it off the series, or if it just had the same name.
The TV series was good but IIRC the star Edward Woodward had health real life health issues other members of the cast were his muscle, He had the brains and the connections.
@White Wolf I watched the first season but lost interest in it. I just can't get over how well Denzel nailed the character in both movies. As far as I'm concerned, he is Robert McCall.
My Dad liked the show, so I stayed home and watched it with him. I also liked the cast of characters McCall gathered together to help him with his cases, both streetwise guys and former Operatives he worked with. For those who don't know, the 'OG' Robert McCall (Edward Woodward) was an older British chap who drove a Jaguar and was a former British Intelligence Service (MI6) operative who left because of internal hijinks.
Denzel has always delivered gold when on screen, and the things he has said in person as himself off screen are more fire. I don't think Denzel will be up there in the Hollywood films anymore, and I will sing to that and praise his soul for understanding what is going on, and overtly showing he wants nothing to do with that. A class act, no less. ❤

Yes, that was Harper from Stranger Things... Robert definitely had OCD, that's why everything had to be done a certain way, even when he repeatedly shut the door at the restaurant. Part 2 gives a little more insight on Robert's past... Another thing after taking out Slavie and he kissed his ring finger and said "I'm sorry". It was that he felt he broke a promise he made to his wife.
Robert McCall was a decorated United States Marine, and later was a CIA operative. He quit the CIA because his wife asked him to, and to not kill anymore. That's why he said he was willing to break his promise to his wife when talking to Nikolai. His wife had gotten sick and died, and he continued to live like a normal civilian, and kept his promise, until he had enough of people he cared about being victimized. This movie was an unexpected hit, and the sequel was great too. The 3rd one is coming out later this year...

The scene when Denzel replies with "What do you see when you look at me" was one of my favs. The Russian guy be like: Oh no he didn't just flip the script on me..lol
That’s a great dialogue. There’s a similar dialogue in “The Fountainhead,” a book by Russian-American author Ayn Rand. The conceited bad guy asks the good guy, “What do you think of me”. The good guy replied, “That’s just it. I don’t think of you.” Cold-blooded.
I always love when the villains use the insult "You think you can just go wherever you want and take/buy whatever you want." when they themselves have been doing that very thing up to that point. It's fine when they do it, but it is an insult to them when someone else does it.
Another great reaction guys. You will learn more about Denzel's character when you watch the second movie. So no spoilers. Hope to see your reaction to it soon! 😁
The way both you reacted to the tree trimmer through the neck...chef's kiss. Another great reaction for another great flick from Denzel. One of the GOATS for sure.
The Equalizer was released in 2014. Lol! Anyway, this is an awesome action thriller based on the 1985-1989 TV series of the same name. A former CIA operative turns vigilante to help those in need. There is even a reboot of the series starring Queen Latifah as Robin McCall, taking place in the same universe as the film.
The Equalizer is definitely one of my "guilty pleasure" films that I have seen many times, and most certainly will watch again (I & II). It's on the list with films like The Terminator, The Jason Bourne Series, Taken, etc. Seen them all multiple times but, every now and then you just want some visual comfort food. There's so much injustice in the world, so few things satisfy like a good vigilante flick.
Please, please, PLEASE watch the sequel to this. But make sure Asia has a box of tissues, a roll of toilet paper, and paper towels next to her chair LOL . The sequel made me bawl my eyes out ( in a good way ). It's so much more heart felt
There is a second one from The Equalizer. A third part is also coming. Yes, that was Jim Hopper(David Harbour) from Stranger Things. There is also a good film by David Harbor"Violent Night".
I love that first fight scene because you see the Russians demeanor change. That last guy that went down with corkscrew. You could tell he knew he was in trouble
This movie has a bit of everything. Action, suspense, mystery, revenge, etc. I remember seeing this after it somehow fell through the cracks. I didn't expect much (I thought it'd be worth the watch like most Denzel movies) but something about this movie just floored me. I did NOT expect this movie to be this good. I love how effortless he is in this. And that's after he was 'slow' from his predictions when he'd time himself. This is him as a grizzled vet, but just imagine him in his heyday at the top of his game. Only Denzel could pull off being this calm and collected while also racking up that body count. And that's the best part of this movie. He's so quiet and calm, but it's intense and terrifying...if you're on the other side. Such a great movie and I'm so glad you wound up watching this.
In the series, people would contact the equalizer to help them with problems they were facing with different situations. He was a vigilante . The beginning of the next movie will help you understand how much he cares about people and that he has a heart ❤️..
I always love to watch your reactions. Thank you for this one too. BJ- I so much enjoy your humorous comments and Asia, you have the most infectious laugh that makes me chuckle every time I hear it. Denzel is one of my all time favorite actors. If you haven't seen it yet, you may also want to watch "The Book Of Eli".
14:14 Yes those are Russian mafia tattoos, the epaulettes on his shoulders signify rank. During the 20th century in the Soviet Union, Russian criminal and prison communities maintained a culture of using tattoos to indicate members' criminal career and ranking. Specifically among those imprisoned under the Gulag system of the Soviet era, the tattoos served to differentiate a criminal leader or thief in law from a political prisoner.
One of my favourite movies of alltime,as you remember Man Of Fire is also one of them. Denzel is just outstanding,he goes soo into character its stunning, does soo much research and dedicates himself fully into his roles. And believe it or not,but The Equalizer 2 is considered BETTER then this one. And more good news on the way,The Equalizer 3 is on its way this year! 11:04 For the youtube viewers unaware,Robert here used one of Teri`s own words, she said to Robert in the cafè prior to this "someone stupid" about her injury/bruised face,Robert used that to explain how his hand got bruised up,moping the floor with thoose who caused someone to lay theyr hand on her in the first place: "something stupid". Thats how you know that Robert connected deeply with Teri already and genuinly cared for her. 18:05 Teddy thinks he is being smart, but Robert is thinking at least 1 step ahead of Teddy,At LEAST! Robert is quick with it! I tear up everytime i see Teri stumble across Robert at the end,the whole conversation where she mentioned a certain amount of money, that she didnt know Robert originally offered for her freedom. I freakin adore Chloë Moretz, shes soo beautiful and such a great actress! The bad cop was David Harbour, also known as Jim Hopper from Stranger Things indeed. He did such a great job with the Boston accent in this movie lol. The backstory on Robert McCall is more revealed in the second one. And Asia is right about the ending,Roberts services was needed elsewhere at the end,and he accepted. What that mission is about is the very beginning of number 2. Asia have your napkins ready! One of the best cliffhangers in movie history!
Yes, the corrupt cop is played by David Harbour (the guy in Sranger Things). You'll find out a bit more about Robert McCall in The Equalizer 2 (2018). The 3rd one will come out this year. :)
my favorite 2 scenes are when Denzel locks the door before he kills the 5 Russians and the one where him and the main bad guy sit down at the dinner table and talk its so intense!
That was so enjoyable. Asia made me jump myself a couple of times. I still love the finger mask. I'm adding watching a movie with Asia and BJ on my bucket list 🤣🤣🤣. Thanks for the laughs and making me jump a few times. My heart needed the pickup. Love you guy ❤❤
So, fun fact Denzel is from the same city that I grew up in and still live in Mount Vernon, New York. He represents us to the fullest, and we love him for it.
Denzel did a lot of studying and research about OCD so he could incorporate it with his character correctly. Chloe Grace Moretz (Elena) also did a lot of research on battered women and women involved in prostitution and trafficking. Not once was Denzel use a firearm in the movie, he improvises on how he takes people out. When Slavi was shot it was Robert grabbing the arm of one of the guards who was the one who shot him. That was a nail gun he used on Teddy at the end. As a couple of others said, watch Book of Eli, another good movie
The original Equalizer was a TV series from 1985-1989 Edward Woodward played Robert McCall he was a retired secret agent. Having become disillusioned by all the rigmarole that comes with secret agenting, McCall starts to look out for the little guy. Calling himself "The Equalizer," McCall puts ads in the paper marketing to desperate people in desperate situations. McCall usually takes these cases for little or no money (he lives in a posh Manhattan apartment). Acting as both bodyguard and investigator, sometimes using his government resources, McCall usually manages to save the day. Peace out.
Boiled honey was used to stop bleeding and seal wounds from infection for years before modern medicines. Honey has anti bacterial properties and the syrup like consistency creates an osmotic pressure reaction that helps stop bleeding.
Yes that was harper you recognize from stranger things, great reactio guys, also a a great side note, Denzel is actually a Jr and days his name isn't pronounced how most say it, the only difference was made when his mom wanted to separate the two when she verballed called out for them, from a bbc yt clip from about 10 years ago. Love all you guys do, stay amazing.
Thanks Asia & Bj, The Movie Theme is Good Versus Evil, Like the other Movies Denzel Starred in "Book of Eli, Man on Fire & The Magnificent 7" I like the Scene when Denzel sits by Slavi and says "Your Hearts beating 3 times its Normal rate and in about 30 seconds your Bodys going to Shut down and You're going to Suffocate, That girl Alina you almost beat half to Death, Her life is going to go on but yours is going to end right here on this Funky Floor over 9800 Dollars, You should have taken the Money." I had to buy this DVD when it first was released. Awesome Movie. Thanks Asia & Bj
This is an amazing film and really cool to see you guys watch this. I remember seeing it in the theater when it came out and remember enjoying it the entire time. Great reaction guys, take care!
Denzel Washington is one of eight actors who has been nominated for an acting Academy Award in five different decades (1980s, '90s. 2000s, '10s and '20s), joining Laurence Olivier, Katharine Hepburn, Paul Newman, Jack Nicholson, Michael Caine, Meryl Streep and Frances McDormand. There is reason why Denzel Washington is one greatest actor on this planet and my personal favourite. When you watch Denzel Washington movie it's gonna be good.
That device he was using to shoot nails is a Hilti powder actuated nailer. It doesn't work the way they were showing in the movie. It needs to be pressed against the material being nailed to operate. When I was building houses, we used them to secure 2x6's to steel I-beams to provide a nailing surface for floor joists.
YES, definitely react to "Equalizer 2", it's even better than the first one, and it reveals more about his background! This reaction choice made me so happy! I've been waiting for you two to react to this! And guess what? "Equalizer 3" is coming out this year in September, too! Thank you so much for this reaction and great analysis! ✌💙✌
Yes, the crooked cop McCall had in the car in the garage is the actor who plays Chief Jim Hopper on "Stranger Things." His name is David Harbour. The girl, Elena, is Chloe Grace Moretz, who has been acting since she was a child. Both good actors. I love this movie!!! It's great!!! Denzel is the ultimate badass here. He uses any and everything at hand to kill his enemies. Cold as ice. Ruthless when he needs to be but kind and generous to those he cares about. I just love that type of duality in his character. Probably why this is one of my favorite Denial Washington movies. "The Equalizer 2" is not as good as the first but it's still enjoyable in it's own way. It's also the movie where you find out more about Robert McCall and who he really is. Great reaction guys!!!
@Asia and BJ this was a fun watch. Denzel is one of the 25 greatest actors of all time, he brought a heart and pathos to this movie I never expected. Love the woman early on too who was in other films too but crushed her role in this as a young call girl forced into the life. Great direction, in the RARE times of watching a franchise E2 was slightly better then this classic we adored too. It was fun to see you and BJ @Asia put it together and figure it all out as you watched it :) hope you watch the sequel they are working on E3 this year
Also I'm a child of the 80s and when I was growing up in 80s there was a TV show first called the equalizer in the show. Robert McCall was a former British spy that moved to New York City and helped people with his skills.

Honey heated up can be used as a wound dressing to promote rapid and improved healing. These effects are due to honey's anti-bacterial action, secondary to its high acidity, osmotic effect, anti-oxidant content and hydrogen peroxide content
This is such a good film, and Denzel does a great job with it. The next one is equally as good, if not better. Hope you get to that one. Pure, unpasteurized honey contains significant antibiotic properties. People have been using it to dress wounds and prevent infection for thousands of years. It has even been known to fight some strains of MRSA that mainstream antibiotics cannot touch. Just don't boil it before hand, like he does in the movie, as that will kill all of the antibiotic properties in the honey.
Yes, that's David Harbour, who plays Hopper on Stranger Things. Yes, definitely see the sequel. And check out Devil in a Blue Dress, which features Don Cheadle (War Machine in MCU) in his first big role.
26:34 That scene in the restaurant. It's very well done. 2 highly skilled killers trying to make each other understand that the other person doesn't stand a chance. Saying a lot without speaking too much. Letting the silent pauses work like punctuation. A very intense scene considering they are just sitting there talking. Right up there with the final scene in Sicario. Which is another movie I suggest if you like this one. Equalizer is one of those few remakes (originally a TV show from 1985) that lands just right.
Yes...that was sheriff Hopper from Stranger Things. According to Wiki - Robert McCall was a former Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and former DIA agent (Black Ops).
Just posted the same. I've loved their reactions & have been really looking forward to Breaking Bad reactions the most especially as IMO series 3 & 4 are the best. Great reaction y'all! 👏👏👏❤ I love you guys! But Denzal Washington is best in every roll he plays. "The Equalizer" is based on a tv show from the late 80's. It was a good series. Ok tellin my age now😂😂 But definitely watch the second one.
I love the flick, I love the character and I hate to complain at all, but Hollywood does this all the time. The battle at the store HAS to have an aftermath. Bodies everywhere and all of McCall's coworkers know he was there. How does he just return to his life like nothing happened? We don't see him back on the job but he's in town and meets up with Terri/Alina. How is no one looking for him? Another great reaction guys, Keep 'em coming.

Denzel is awesome. You guys absolutely HAVE to watch "Training Day" and "Glory". Two great movies. "Training Day" for his performance and "Glory" for the story. Both are really good.
Great movie! I've seen other reaction channels do this movie and I was pretty impressed. Hopefully you two will do as good. Equalizer 2 is just as good, maybe even better.
The Equalizer original TV series back in the 80s starred veteran British actor Sir Edward Woodward (played the Ghost of Christmas Present in the George C Scott version of A Christmas Carol, 1984), as Robert McCall an ex-British spy, retired in America, using his 'particular set of skills' to help ordinary people who were being victimized. Then Denzel did these 2 most excellent movies, and couple years ago the TV series rebooted, starring Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall. It's a rich character, with endless plot possibilities. Even as a fan of the original back in the day, I must say Denzel's my favorite McCall.
Great commentary!! This movie is based on the tv series. Yes it was Harper. Did you also notice the bad guy he killed at the end was the main bad guy in XXX with Vin Diesel? And the crooked cop in the alley that was talking was Mark & Donnie Wahlberg's older brother Bob.
"It look like he killed 'em with the book."
"Or was it a napkin?"

This was one of Denzel's best roles. Love you guys and your reactions. Hope you get around to "Amelie" one day.
Asia would love it but no action scenes for BJ
The BEST Denzel movie actually IS Equalizer 2. It is stellar. Absolutely exceptional
LAST of the Mohicans!! Award winning action, history and love story ...
“The Book of Eli” is such a great film…. One of my favorites for sure 👍
The Book of Eli is a MUST!!! along with Training Day.😍
The Book of Eli is an excellent film. Also has Gary Oldman in it
14:14 Yes those are Russian mafia tattoos, the epaulettes on his shoulders signify rank.
17:10 "Home improvement/DOME improvement". BJ making me crack up with laughter, like my cranium be fully exposed. Stop: Hammer time! 😂🙃
Flight is in my opinion Denzel's best work. He should have won an Oscar for that hands down.
YES!! I'd LOVE to see their reaction to that one.
Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua make an awesome combination. They have a third Equalizer movie coming out this year.
Yes, Asia, David Harbour plays Jim Hopper in Stranger Things. He also played Red Guardian in Black Widow and Hellboy in the 2019 film.
He also plays Santa in Violent Night. You really should watch that.
Yes the cop he had locked in the car is the actor that plays hopper on stranger things
Love the bucket list idea!!
Peace out.
Lol i busted out laughing at the 13:36 mark Asia covering her face saying ok i’m sorry was too funny
Boiled honey was used to stop bleeding and seal wounds from infection for years before modern medicines. Honey has anti bacterial properties and the syrup like consistency creates an osmotic pressure reaction that helps stop bleeding.
Man this was a great movie!! I think there is a part 2. Denzel is the best actor!!! Thanks Asia and BJ❣️
You two ALWAYS brighten my day! Looking forward to Equalizer 2! Keep it up!
This movie is really good, check out the equalizer 2. Also another great Denzel movie is The Book Of Eli, Great post apocalyptic movie
Great reaction video, you guys will definitely like the Equalizer 2.💯💯
You gotta see the sequel and they recently finished filming the third one.
You guys gotta watch the second equalizer!!! It's so good. Glad you liked this one.
What a great reaction! BJ throwing out quotes from other movies too😂😂🔥
Oh and you have to do Equalizer 2!!
*Denzel* Damn Autocorrect!!!!!
Denzel never lets me down with his acting!! Great movie!
9:40 Asia's face is equivalent to "Hold up THIS IS THE KIND OF MOVIE THIS IS??" 🤣
YES! 1 and 2 are awesome! Can't wait for part 3 in September!
Never underestimate the impact that a good man can make in the community. Great movie and review!
It was fun to see you and BJ @Asia put it together and figure it all out as you watched it :) hope you watch the sequel they are working on E3 this year
Definitely top 25. I agree with that.
@@el34glo59 Many Thanks
Nice reaction! Equalizer 2 is also great. Gives more background on McCall also. Cheers!
Asia has THE BEST LAUGH I have ever heard! By far! Y’all are My favorite reactors to movies! Love it!
Also I'm a child of the 80s and when I was growing up in 80s there was a TV show first called the equalizer in the show. Robert McCall was a former British spy that moved to New York City and helped people with his skills.
Asia hiding behind her hands but looking through her fingers 🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣
Please watch the second one for us hahaha ur reactions are just my fav. U react and yet you guys don’t take away from the heart of the movie. I try other reactions to movies and too much talkin which usually ends in sidetracking and missing key scenes. But when I watch ur reactions I can always stay in it rather than getting annoyed due to over reacting/explaining. Love Everytime you two post something!!!!! Keep being you!!!
Asia and BJ, I think you guys are great. I am a senior and have just started to watch these reaction videos. I only subscribe to you because you truly react you don’t over talk the picture trying to be funny or put on a show what we get from you is a true reaction, I’ve got to figure out how to send you guys money. I would love to see you guys react to some of the classics. Bad seed, 1956, the night of the Hunter, 1955, arsenic and old lace, 1944, Harlem Nights , 1996. You guys will love these movies. Jackie Johnson.
Hey, Jacqueline! You don’t need to send us money, as only members of our top Patreon tier get 1 guaranteed reaction per month. You’re welcome to make suggestions and we of course appreciate your understanding! Thanks 😊
Great reaction! Definitely watch Equalizer 2! Just as good if not better.
EQUALIZER!!! Woot woot!🎉I hope also react to “Equalizer 2 and 3 (when it comes out)”, “Jeepers Creepers 1 & 2”, “Remember the Titans (also a Denzel movie)”, “The Departed”, “Upgrade”, “RAID: Redemption”, “Powder”, “Meet Joe Black”, and “Bicentennial Man”
Please follow this up with The Book of Eli. Denzel is on a mission, and you'll love it...
Honey heated up can be used as a wound dressing to promote rapid and improved healing. These effects are due to honey's anti-bacterial action, secondary to its high acidity, osmotic effect, anti-oxidant content and hydrogen peroxide content
Great reaction as usual. Equaliser 2 is even better 😀
Denzel is such an excellent actor. I could just listen to him talk all day!!!!
Dope reaction guys. Definitely gotta check out the sequel.
Y’all gotta react to 2 along with Creed 1 and 2
Yes...that was sheriff Hopper from Stranger Things. According to Wiki - Robert McCall was a former Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and former DIA agent (Black Ops).
Denzel is my number one badass !
Just an FYI BJ. When talking my vertebrae Cs are the neck “Cervical”. Ts are mid back “Thoracic” and Ls are low back
“Lumbar”
What happen to breaking bad??
Just posted the same. I've loved their reactions & have been really looking forward to Breaking Bad reactions the most especially as IMO series 3 & 4 are the best. Not sure if they will do more or have given up posting them on UA-cam a/c since they admitted to have finishing the full series on their Patron already.
Hey R R! Another 2 eps will be posted w/in days. Thanks ☺️
I just started watching some reaction UA-camrs. You two have great chemistry and are fun to watch. Keep up the good videos. Also FYI honey has anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. He used it to burn his wound shut and help it not get infected.
I loved the Equalizer! I love Denzel, he’s one of my favorite actors. I think he was Special Forces connected to CIA or something like that. He was so damn good. Some kinda badass for sure. Love your reactions! 🥰
Great reaction y'all! 👏👏👏❤ I love you guys! But Denzal Washington is best in every roll he plays. "The Equalizer" is based on a tv show from the late 80's. It was a good series. Ok tellin my age now😂😂 But definitely watch the second one.
29:48 "L vertebrae" are lumbar, aka lower back. "C vertebrae" are cervical, aka neck 😉
One of the best movies ever!! I love DW. I love how he's a man of faith and, of course, his movies. Equalizer 2 is awesome as well, and I've heard they're making a 3rd. Check out Deja-vue as well. ❤ you guys.
Yes Asia that's Harper, this is a Trilogy of greatness, its based on a original 78'film then 85' TV show by the same name. I used to watch it e every Tuesday night at 8pm on CBS. Finish the next two/3 films to find out everything y'all are wrong about lol, OCD my foot..😏👏good reaction
THE TWO leads are really good, Denzel is always watchable but Marton Csokas as the baddie is brilliantly heartless and chilling .
Yes, that was Hopper from Stranger Things as the crooked cop.
Yes that was Hopper from Stranger Things, David Harbour. He's a good actor who has finally made it big since Stranger Things.
“John Q” is my favorite movie of DW. Always a great preference! Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend! Much love and Respect🙏
Great flick. Two of Denzel's earlier roles where you really see his acting chops are in the movies 'Philadelphia' and 'Crimson Tide'.
