I love everything about the Palisade in this video, except the steering wheel; looks old-fashioned. I'd also prefer the taillights to be horizontal, instead of vertical. But it's a beautiful SUV. Love those power-folding 3rd row seats; Easy-Peasy, Lemon-Sqeezy! In that 3rd row seat, I'll be careful not to get "roaster, like a cooked turkey." Lol........Your reviews are very informative, and also funny! I'll make sure and thank my neighbor, Mr. Al Canterra, for the wonderful headliner in this car!
Great review! We love our 2021 Palisade Limited AWD. We went with limited because it included all of the tech found in calligraphy but didn't include the suede headliner or quilted door panels. That was important because ours is a dog transport machine and I didn't want either ruined by slobber or claws tearing out threads.
This Hyundai Palisade is pretty impressive Joe. In my opinion, I would take the Palisade over the Pilot. I do think that the interior in the Hyundai is a little bit more, I'll say, classier. Kinda of Genesis inspired in a way. No hate on the Pilot though, liking what they did for the redesign for 2023. I can't wait to see if you do the Palisade XRT Joe! I think you already did the Tucson and Santa Fe XRT.
The Palisade is a beautiful SUV see these all over more top seller than Pilot and Highlander. Very true Hyundai has come a very long way over many years good looking vehicles.
Yeah it's the best car in it's class for sure, the telluride is nice but if you can afford the calligraphy package, you're getting basically a genesis level car but with the Hyundai badge

Hyundai has been one of my fav brands because you can get SO much for the money now. The Hyundai Palisade shows that better than any vehicle of Hyundai's.
The refresh is so much better looking than the previous year. The big grill and the lighting is wonderful while not being overdone. It's a smooth family cruiser that has good driving mechanics when driving fast. All the tech, comfort and lux touches are better than competition. The third row is actually comfortable for an adult. I'm 6ft and can sit in the back and not feel like a sardine. The interior feels large, but the car feels smaller and comfortable when driving. It's hard to beat at 52K.

I agree with you on the zonk about the rear door locks. It's so annoying on a daily basis. But more annoying is the headlights at night. Why doesn't anyone discuss this? I love my Palisade but avoid driving at night now because of the awful dark horizon they make. It's super distracting. I see road and then the V shape shadow infront of the car and a distinct line of light to darkness on the sides. I had an Expedition before this and loved how it light up all sides of the road so beautifully. It's so bad for me personally, I've been searching and seeing what may be my next option and Pilot might be it. I don't want to give up my Palisade, it's not even a year old, but again, the lighting is a problem for me personally. One more small zonk is the Auto Hold feature. I LOVE to use that feature but when you hit the gas it hesitates for a moment and on the school pick up line with the stop and go, that gets well... annoying too. Oh, wait... 1 more thing. Im not a huge fan of the retractable holders. Kinda plasticky and cheap feeling. I feel like if I put a cup in the wrong way and hit it, I'll break. I'd prefer a nice solid piece cupholder. Otherwise I swear I mostly love the vehicle and I always LOVE your videos!
I too have a Palisade. On two lane roads, the V shape shadow is helpful for oncoming drivers driving towards you since it reduces the light beams coming from the Palisade. As for the Auto Hold feature... I understand that hesitation when hitting the gas. To get around this, I tap the gas pedal right before I'm ready to go and then hit the gas as normal. I do the same on my wife's vehicle which has Auto Hold too.
With auto hold feature what I do is when I am in the lane I slowly press the break, not hard all the way. And by not pressing break hard even when I m standing the car doesn’t go to sleep mode. I do this with new rav4, I don’t know if that’s the case with palisade but still u can give it a try.
I am so glad you mentioned this. I am switching out of an Enclave for overall visibility issues. Day or night. I am loving the look of the Palisade- inside and out- but the light situation might be a reason I look at something else.

The palisade is definitely better to me than the 2023 pilot.the warranty is better,360 camera, heated seats in 3rd row, vent seats in second row,but dealers always want alot more that msrp.i know people that paid up to 15k over msrp, that's crazy i would never do that period.
Funny thing Honda was the first one to offer the right turn signal cameras and then stopped offering, the Hyundai started offering with both left and right turn signals.
I rather pick a Hyundai than a Honda. I bought a 2017 Honda pilot touring awd and have had some problems with it. The smart body control module went out and that cost me $1.4k to replace. The hood feels unsecured like there's a gap and it's wobbly. The transmission is giving out at 55k miles it jerks and slips. My dad had a 2018 civic and the engine went bad twice. It's just a bad experience overall with Hondas. My warranty is up so I'm not going to put anymore money into the car. Regular maintenance was done with my pilot also. I have a 2017 Hyundai sonata and it's at 130k miles the only problem I had with it was the steering wheel and trunk latch. It's still going strong. 55k pilot vs a 130k Hyundai.
Nah? The grand highlander won’t be anywhere near as attractive or as spacious or as luxurious as the palisade Knowing Toyota they will absolutely screw this up badly and overprice it. The palisade is a better option than the grand highlander and the GH isn’t even out yet. Hyundai is just that good
What about engine problems ? My daughter has a Hyundai Santa Fe .. The engine went out and it took along time for Hyundai to finally replace it ! She hates that vehicle and I am going to give her my 2017 Honda CRV Touring and buy the 2023 Honda Pilot Elite. My daughter can’t wait to get the CRV with no problems !
I don't mean to sound like a Honda-Fan-Boy ... but I'm an old guy and my preferences have switched from flash-in-the-pan electronic gizmos to better reliability, lower maintenance costs, and perhaps better resale??? ... but then again I grew up riding Honda bikes and driving Hondas and yes even worked at American Honda Motors HQ in Torrance CA as a Project Leader for their Honda new car line (btw I was there when the first Integra Type-R was introduced and could have bought one at a reasonable price ... what was a bonehead decision it was not to buy one) ... so I am no doubt biased ... thanks for another Great review... Keith Chicago IL
Never liked the exhaust on one side. Either dual exhaust or eliminate it all together. I’ve noticed many new vehicles are eliminating the dual exhaust.
Great review Joe! When you want to purchase a Caligraphy, dealers are currently charging $5K market adjustment on top of the MSRP. Maybe down the rode the adjustment will disappear.
Yup! It should be quad exhaust! Zooooonk!!! I do believe you LIKE the Palisade better than the Pilot, which makes me happy bc I own a PaliCali 😍 You....and your booty call 🤣 It's been a minute since I've laughed so hard at a YT video. Keep up the Fantabulous work, Joe n Lori! Looooove Ya!
You can quad exhaust done tho at your local exhaust shop where they cut the driver side out and install quads or u can order from eBay rear diffuser bumper with quad cutouts... Seen some on the street look so much better with quads...
Why is it that when Hyundai and their suvs like you always say Top Dog as in top trim, like the XRT and the Caligraphy, their SUVs don't have those the XRT and the Caligraphy whenever your talking about the rear of the SUV? How much is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy and what's the MPG?
From first looks of the pilot looks great. Interior definitely better then the outgoing model but the palisade wins. You won’t confuse anything of what’s on the road today. These can turn heads if people don’t know what they’re looking at. The Interior for the price you get and value is shocking. Then you get the impressive technology which the other competitors lack
@@Seanheery it’s to save them money doing that and I don’t blame them. They’ve been hit hard with shortages and sales down so i don’t blame them. Technology is another level with the Koreans but people that buy them I bet you won’t even use half the features. A lot of people nowadays want something plain without breaking the wallet
@@mattmekhaeil Saving money on what? Shortages and supplies? No Honda has lazy designers who can't make better quality interior. That's how they are nowadays.
@@maga6319 if you realize the pandemic had a toll on all the manufacturers but Honda hasn’t had a lot of success with a lot of their cars. Sales down, delays, etc. that’s why their interiors are boring and plain Jane. Others had great success during this
@@mattmekhaeil So is that the reason why they have to copy and paste the same interior into different cars??? Might as well toyota do the same and see if people like it or not.
all that being said about by looking at what we can see and feel should be correct. but from a mechanic stand point also we have to see.. i saw a video where a person was pointing out so many adjustments and quick fixes are done underneath .. so we have to wait and see its life and mainenance isssues.
I think Hyundai would’ve been better off putting two exhaust tips on the other side of the vehicle to balance it out that would probably look pretty bad ass.
Why so it can be a problematic like Ford does? No thank you. I wonder why the aviator doesn't sell well when it has the similar power like it's counterpart.
Palisade looks nice!! but to choose this over the new pilot Nd new grand highlander coming out idk...will have to wait for your on the road reviews on those mid size suv. but I do agree with you, the palisade need dual exhaust on both side. not digging the one side only
Nah go w the palisade. The grand highlander already lost badly. Knowing Toyota they will screw this up badly. The grand highlander won’t be anywhere near as attractive or as luxurious inside or as well built or as spacious or have anywhere near the same luxury touches the palisade has and it’ll be way more expensive than the hyundai while offering less
I ve a 2021 subaru ascent limited. I was hoping subaru would bring a cool refreshed 2023 version. I am debating between the 2023 telluride and the 2023 palisade . Which one would recommend between the 2? Then how do they match against the 2023 subaru ascent onyx limited or the touring trim? I like subaru safety system and their legendary awd system. Not sure how the palisade and the telluride perform with their awd and that's why I hesitate a little. Any advise? Any suggestions between these 3? Thanks
It definitely needs a quad exhaust…So does it’s cousin Telluride. It is the only reason I’m not buying either one. If I’m going to spend over $50k, I want the quad exhaust. I’m hoping their second generation will be born with quad exhausts. Then I’ll surely get one!
Hey Joe I noticed there is some serious scratching going on on your audio. Im guessing it’s your clip on mic. It never used to happen. But as always my favorite car reviewer. 👍👍👍👍
I have had two Hyundai vehicles a Kona Limited and now a Tucson Limited. I am looking at going larger to tow a travel trailer. I have been super impressed with Hyundai features and tech on any trim level. You have to pay at least 50% more on German cars to get similar tech and comfort features. The only thing that is a small “zonk” to me is that the Limited and Calligraphy trims seem to only come with captain’s chairs. I prefer a bench seat as I will travel with third row down most the time and covered with gear.
You are correct that Limited and Calligraphys come ONLY with 7 passengers. SEL Premium specifically with the bench seat or all SEs are the only trims that have an 8 passenger.
I didn’t know that they FINALLY are offering WIRELESS Apple CarPlay …. That’s been an issue between Apple and Hyundai due to control over the navigation app.
I would, after many years in automotive industry, considered a Hyundai. But this just reinforces the notion that maybe I need really reset my opinion on HKMC vehicles.
Depends on ur needs. If u like flashy looks with all the bells n whistles, get the Kia/Hyundai. U like functionality and practically or off roading, get the new Pilot.
@Paul The Palisade looks much better and Hyundai's reliability is extremely bulletproof. It won't have oil consumption and transmission plague like Honda and Honda thieves shipping it overseas.
i wish you were correct that it has wireless carplay / android auto but it does not 😢 they dropped the wireless as they couldn't make it work with the long display. because of the shape - wireless adapters turn the large rectangular screen into a narrow one. it's a huge miss that they added a larger screen but couldn't have wireless carplay - the kia forte has wireless carplay but the 52k palisade has wired carplay 😢
There are only 3 other vehicles AFAIK with heated third row seats at all, and they’re all European brands near or over $100k Name one with ventilated third row?
Honda is a good car. Hyundai is also a good car. Good cars. There's always improvement needed. IN Hyundai, the cabin is noisy. Why? Because when you look UNDERNEATH the car you will see that 3/4 of the undercarriage isn't insulated. Notice the engine? It's old school. Old technology. Akins cycle, prone to carbon build up. Being pretty on the outside is easy to manufacture, but also give me a solid built car. The exhaust: the weld is horrible. There's two mesh connectors which means exhaust will leak and it ALSO means design error. Hyundai always issues tires that's soft which means will wear quickly. The button for widow defrost always goes full blast and I wish it let me decide fan speed.

Yes it would like a lot better with dual exhaust all ways looks good dont you want to sell alot plus it would be alot better with a twin turbó and very good with gasoline a twin turbo
This is nice but overpriced now, the Palisade Limited AWD at $46.5K was a good value when it launched back in 2019… anything over $50K is too much in this class, especially when you throw in markups and this becomes $60K plus.
Thing I’m gonna say is that Hyundai definitely copied, the vents that goes across the cabin and also bottom gear. Don’t like the fact they still got reverse light on bottom, like to have it on backlight. Pilot is the KING for the off-road
I would never take a Korean car over a Japanese car ever. Let’s compare these two cars in 10 years and everyone who takes a Hyundai will be singing a very different tune. Also, they have been a lot of problems with Hyundai engines.

I have a 2017 Hyundai sonata and it's at 130k miles the only problem I had with it was the steering wheel and trunk latch. It's still going strong. 55k pilot vs a 130k Hyundai.
You sold me Joe; I'm going to my Hyundai dealer first thing Tuesday. I hope they can find a Palisade that has what I want.
That is fantastic Howard.
good luck w that
Going for a Highlander, dependability is the key! Not so sure if the Hyundai is known for that.
Love this review. But I will wait till Grand highlander comes. So I can judge properly which one of these SUV's are good.
Good call man!
Nah? The grand highlander won’t be anywhere near as attractive or as spacious or as luxurious as the palisade
Knowing Toyota they will absolutely screw this up badly and overprice it. The palisade is a better option than the grand highlander and the GH isn’t even out yet. Hyundai is just that good
11:50 Wrong info. There is no wireless Apple Carplay or Android Auto. Only wired
Thanks for the info!
I got the SEL Premium package and loving it,don’t need the extra bells and whistles 46k.
Hyundai has come a long way ... at that time my now ex-wife had an '87 Hyundai Excel GLS (I think) what APOS that was ...
Never liked the exhaust on one side. Either dual exhaust or eliminate it all together. I’ve noticed many new vehicles are eliminating the dual exhaust.
$52K is a very good value for what you get here. No wonder dealerships haven’t been able to keep them in stock!
I was wondering what the cost was.. yes seems like a good value, but still rather expensive. All the overpaid government workers will have them.
I remember you would get a BMW X5 and Audi q7 for 52K fully loaded before covid happened
Great value for the $$
Non luxury brand with same features as many luxury brands…..and a n/a freakin V6 !!!!!
Great review Joe! When you want to purchase a Caligraphy, dealers are currently charging $5K market adjustment on top of the MSRP. Maybe down the rode the adjustment will disappear.
One of the best looking suv's of the segment but I fell in love with the new Pilot and I would go for it.
What trim of pilot would you get if you got it?
@@Jose_cab EX-L (AWD) would be my go to.
Kia telluride >
Yup! It should be quad exhaust! Zooooonk!!!
I do believe you LIKE the Palisade better than the Pilot, which makes me happy bc I own a PaliCali 😍
You....and your booty call 🤣
It's been a minute since I've laughed so hard at a YT video.
Keep up the Fantabulous work, Joe n Lori!
Looooove Ya!
Stop complaining. Hyundai doesn't do quad exhaust on their model expect for their N models or Genesis brand.
You can quad exhaust done tho at your local exhaust shop where they cut the driver side out and install quads or u can order from eBay rear diffuser bumper with quad cutouts... Seen some on the street look so much better with quads...
@@maga6319
Bless your heart!
I'm
Not complaining.
I simply stated what I would like to see.
@@dukewaldsmith2132 Thanks for the information. 😁
Still go with the 2023 Pilot Trailsport for off roading :skid plates, trail cam, recovery points and IVTM4 AWD way better the the twin's HTRAC AWD.
Nope, still behind Hyundai's quality.
@@maga4813 Hyundai's AWD is way behind compared to the trailsport's ivtm4 if you go off roading.
He said it in the video…
Love the extra guac charge reminder 😂
Thanks for letting me share the laughs and the cars with you!
28:05 Trust me Joe... they're much better than the drivers here in Atlanta... sheeeesh
Hondas interiors are all copy & paste these days. Still nowhere near the features of the Hyundai/Kias these days…
Hey Joe HYD on this wonderful friday
all that being said about by looking at what we can see and feel should be correct. but from a mechanic stand point also we have to see.. i saw a video where a person was pointing out so many adjustments and quick fixes are done underneath .. so we have to wait and see its life and mainenance isssues.
Hyundai Palisade is more flashy and up to date with technology. Honda Pilot is more bulky and more capable of off-roading/handling rough terrains.
This is what my grandpa should've gotten over the Ascent
I totally agree with you!
We have both a pilot and a 23 palisade. 100% would never purchase a pilot again
As always excellent and very informative video. Thank you
I ve a 2021 subaru ascent limited. Thanks
good job Joe. I already have a 2020 Limited I like the 2023 updates
Finally an SUV to get my family over 120mph!
(Source: I sell them)
I didn’t know that they FINALLY are offering WIRELESS Apple CarPlay …. That’s been an issue between Apple and Hyundai due to control over the navigation app.
they aren't. he's mistaken
I want to... but I just can't get over the front grill. All I see is a giant electric shaver.
Same it’s gross
Def need dual exhaust. Of course, not many have true duals these days. =(
Quad exhaust
Great review Joe. Definitely think the 2023 Palisades is worth the do re mi.
If you gotta choose between pathfinder, highlander and this what would you choose?
I am going Pathfinder.
@@RaitisRides thanks for the feedback Joe. Love your videos.
I would, after many years in automotive industry, considered a Hyundai. But this just reinforces the notion that maybe I need really reset my opinion on HKMC vehicles.
Sorry for asking, can you please let me know which one is better 2023 pilot or 2023 palisade?
The answer is different for everyone, depending on yourself.
@@maga4813 extremely bulletproof 💀
Fun car reviews! ‘Blast your friend with pepper spray’…😂😅😂. Fix your static-y sound! (It’s in several of your videos.)
i wish you were correct that it has wireless carplay / android auto but it does not 😢 they dropped the wireless as they couldn't make it work with the long display. because of the shape - wireless adapters turn the large rectangular screen into a narrow one. it's a huge miss that they added a larger screen but couldn't have wireless carplay - the kia forte has wireless carplay but the 52k palisade has wired carplay 😢
The only thing which I don't like about Hyundai is that their new steering design. The previous one looks good
So weird. My Pathfinder has illuminated door sills...and it's just a 2017 SL!!! 😄
Also, heated seating in the 3rd row?! Wow
I prefer the previous grill. This new one looks like they took the giant front grill pill that other manufacturers are doing,ie lexus, bmw, audi.
I don't have a bunch of kids, but I really like this car.
Half fir the wiper blades not hiding
What about ventilation of 3 row?
There are only 3 other vehicles AFAIK with heated third row seats at all, and they’re all European brands near or over $100k Name one with ventilated third row?
Not on the seats but their are AC vents.
@@RaitisRides its not enought!
@Aleksander Diachenko go get a 150k bmw or escalade. Oh wait those don't have that either
Joe i know its not your fault.... but honestly please fix your microphone situation... I'm sure you've heard it so much and these are prerecorded for a while so you can keep up with content... but its time to fix this and replace your mic please sir. They are game changers!
I would get the Telluride
One zonk joe: you said it had wireless carplay and android auto. It actually is still wired which is a big zonk.
Inside looks like a luxury car
I love it Joe and Lori and keep up the good work and I love the video 👍 💯💯💯
I like this Vehicle. Looking to trade up from a 2020 Mazda CX-9 Signature.
Sounds like a plan.
Well Joe, what’s your choice between this or Honda Pilot
I don't want a suv this big but to me the hyundai wins over the Honda. I feel like the digital displays should have customize options through your phone to have a new look and to help your car feel new when you start to get tired of it
Yes it would like a lot better with dual exhaust all ways looks good dont you want to sell alot plus it would be alot better with a twin turbó and very good with gasoline a twin turbo
they do the inline 4 cylinder engines so they can make car quieter in the cab!
My junk is usually laying on the driver seat. LMAO!😂
Homie said for yo booty call😂
