    I love the idea of the pants by Donny Q. They would make great camping/ travel pants for anyone. I can't believe you've never heard of him. I stumbled upon him on Instagram a few years ago, I really like his vision.

    Great review as always Lindsey. You are the best at pattern reviews! Again, my usual request to the pattern companies-please include finished garment measurements on the pattern envelope. They are so important. Some of us don’t have a JoAnns to go to buy patterns. We have to purchase patterns by mail and pay the high prices & postage. Would be nice to know the finished garment measurements before purchasing. ❤️🪡

    I love that these are so much more 'of-the-moment' than most Big 4/5 offerings. Donny Q's insta is amazing - scroll back to winter when he made those pants for a field trip to a Central/South American tropical jungle situation in support of his master's degree in microbiology. I thought he was from Brooklyn with such a cool aesthetic .... nope! Wisconsin!

    Know Me is a fun brand because of all the different designers. I like Sins Of Many's past designs but this one looks like something a toddler would wear. Plus, I just can't get behind crop tops for men! Sorry men!!
    The guy that did the zip-off leg pants did a super job with the drafting of the shirt, shorts, and pants, although zip-off legs are another thing that doesnt seem necessary. However, I know my husband would love those! I wish the pattern included the bucket hat he was wearing. Overall, a very cool look and capable drafting.
    Erica Bunker's design looks AMAZING. The pants are so beautiful! She's a first-rate sewist, so I'm sure they'll sew up like magic! With that bell-sleeved bodysuit it's a total money look. I rip on a lot of these designers for not having adequate skillsets before they release their patterns, but Erica is 1000% ready for prime time!
    The dress over pants is a nice look too. I'm a sucker for that every time. It just looks so fresh and chic. I wish the designer made the sleeves of the dress even longer so there was more excess fabric in the rouching because that makes a garment look higher end. An easy fix, to be sure. Also, I would have liked to see a more upscale treatment of the neckhole like Burdastyle often does where there's a facing instead of ribbing or turning it under. Another east fix. The pants look very sharp in the drawing; too bad they didnt show them more in rhe photo.
    Thanks for another fun review!🎉🎉🎉

    I want the yellow stripey top, but turned into a tank w/ no cutout on the back (or sleeves obv)

    I absolutely love the concept of KnowMe. However, for the most part, the designs, or maybe it's the execution, are a little unpolished for me.

    • @InsidetheHem
      @InsidetheHem  Рік тому +1

      I’ve mentioned that before. Because the designers are home Sewists and self taught the execution of the sample could be off. But that’s why I always look at line drawings, in addition to the photos.

    Thank you! I tried some dropped crotch pants, and found them very uncomfortable, they just rubbed me wrong. ;) Not much here calling to me.

    On Beaute's dress it looks like it IS a side zipper, then the large side slit she wears with the pants is a adjustable slit with the zip

    I think these designs are really cool, while I am not 😊 , so i won't be buying any of these. I really applaud the diversity and uniqueness they are bringing to the pattern market, especially in sexy designs for plus size ladies and cool stuff for men. Great review.

      Totally agree! Except with the fact that you aren’t cool enough. I think you’re cooler than you think. Maybe not cutout cool but brittney j Jones cool! :)

    With Knowme patterns it's either hit or miss for me (mostly miss). The majority I think are too extravagant. I especially dislike the two birthday piñata 🪅 dresses with multiple layers in this collection. They are shapeless and unflattering to a woman's figure. You were spot on with the dinosaur's spikey top 😅. That was my first thought when I saw it too. Together with the opening in the back, it gives me the feeling of trying too hard to look different/ unique.The one I really liked was the Erica Bunker's pattern with the wide legged pants and pretty bodysuit. It's classic, pretty and feminine. In general, I also really like Britanny Jones' patterns.

      I think this just speaks to your personal style. You’re more of a simple, classic gal while others might lean towards all the extras. To each their own, ya know?

    NO JUST NO! What the heck is happening? These are cute (?) but I wouldn’t have any desire to make most of these. Idk who is. The know me patterns are not selling well at my Joanns.

    For the second time meaning the spring and now the summer collection, I very much dislike this whole company. It has no polish and the models are very unattractive. They are not classic and look terrible now and will look even worse in the future.

    • @InsidetheHem
      @InsidetheHem  Рік тому +23

      I’d like you to remember that there are human beings behind each of these creations. They have worked very hard on these designs and are proud of them. In addition to that, there are people like me who like the designs. This comment is unnecessarily harsh to both parties. I’m all for sharing opinions but calling people unattractive is a line crossed. Please choose your words with more compassion in the future.

    • @mel_issa__
      @mel_issa__ Рік тому +7

      Maybe the style isn't for you. But there's no need to be this harsh toward these people or the designs. A LOT of people enjoy these collections which just shows Know Me works for some and not others and that's okay.

      I actually respect your honesty and directness. Younger people place a premium on diplomacy, whereas older people see it as more respectful to call things out as they see them. Yours truly is in the latter group, lol. In my opinion, it doesn't matter how hard someone worked when they bring a product to market. I *only* care that the pattern is drafted well and appeals to my aesthetic. If the finished product isn't good, I'm not going to say it is - be it a sewing pattern, a movie, a restaurant, etc. To my eyes, a lot of the Know Me patterns look over-designed and poorly fitted. I do, however love the energy of outsiders making inroads in fashion design. I just wish these outsiders were more skilled. The other point you made about the models I partially agree with, although it is indeed harsh. My generation and older grew up with high fashion magazines, so we're socialized to prefer classical beauty, slenderness and glamor in marketing.

      Such unnecessary feedback. So much for women empowering other women. Move along.

      @@missdemeanor3524I’m older, 61, and the personal comments were out of line. Rudeness was never ok. Critique of the patterns is fine but taking shots at peoples looks was never acceptable.
