To all thinking about a me made wardrobe, Tomkat Stitchery is a fabulous guide. Whitney, I discovered your channel 5 years ago this month. I was recovering from my hysterectomy and surfing UA-cam because with my changing body I wanted to return to garment sewing after quilting my way through active mothering while working. Your channel was an early find great inspiration. Love you! 🎉
Not a beginner, but I loved this! Sometimes I want an easy, sew with wine, project and other times I want a project that requires me to learn a new skill. You covered all the bases. Two new patterns added to my stash.
Your content has been incredibly informative, and I’ve gained a lot from your tutorials! It would be fantastic to see a similar focus on men's patterns in future videos. While there’s an abundance of resources for female attire, there’s a real gap when it comes to content that highlights creating male garments. Looking forward to more of your insightful work!
Thanks for your comment! I try to pepper in men's garments here and there. The good thing is that sewing skills are universal and the same tips apply for no matter what you are sewing.
I have not done some real serious sewing for years. I’m dedicating this winter to sewing daily. I might need to start with some easy things to get my feet wet again. I really want to address fitting. I plan to really dive into my stash.
@@TomKatStitchery I'm in the same situation but also dealing with hot/cold flashes. For me this means wearing mostly sleeveless tops and cardigans for easy change. Would be great if you do a video focusing on that 🙏
Love the outfits. I just take my manual when I’m visiting family down in Florida. So I like just sewing simple things but still have some nice fashions.
@@TomKatStitchery No I’m too busy with appointments and trying to get ready to leave for our semiannual trip down to Florida. We leave November 1st and come back December 26. I’m a little overwhelmed but can’t wait to get my hands on my granddaughter & grandson.
Hi Whitney, thank you so much for the Love Notions code. I purchased the Metra Blazer class and pattern. I’m so excited to give it a go. Where do you suggest I can find a good ponte knit to make this blazer? Thanks 🙏
My go-to is Stylemaker Classic Ponte. Here's a link: stylemakerfabrics.com/products/classic-ponte-knit-solid-rose I also like Minerva Core Range. There are different weights so check them out!
@TomKatStitchery yes, thank you. It's just kinda weird it is on some of their other patterns just not that one. And there is no general spot with sizing info.
Another reason to stay away from the big four is that they do not have a lot of measurements for sizes on the envelope and nearly zero finished measurements. You will never get a bicep measurement. I also had a problem just now when I bought a woman’s size simplicity pattern. For some reason on size chart it says c cup but the high bust and full bust are 1 inch difference. Tried to email for help and they refused to help me. No indie pattern company would be so rude and they always give much more detail in body and finished measurements.

Excellent! Sometimes a quick and easy pattern is just what a fabric is calling for!

I **highly*** recommend Cashmerette's book "Ahead of the Curve" on fitting! It is so good!
The Belle skirt will be perfect for my granddaughters. Thanks for the suggestion!
You are so welcome!
I love the idea of the virtual sewing conference! I'm stuck at home this month recovering from surgery and this sounds like a fun activity 🙂
Sign up! It will inspire you!!
Fantastic detail and ideas for new to sewing or those scared to take the next step and build their skills. ❤❤
Yes! Or for anyone who is looking for a quick and fun project!

Thanks for the video I have been looking for a pattern like the Birch but cannot find the sizing anywhere.
I suggest you reach out to the pattern company directly and they can point you in the right direction.

@@dipsy552 That is odd. It may have just been an oversight on their part so I would definitely reach out!

Independent Pattern companies do tend to be responsive and helpful if you reach out to them!
