I love how you explain what you like, what's not your favorite, and your "why" for why you choose some option over another. Such as why you chose a sleeveless version of a heavier weight fabric. It helps me think through my options and gives me ideas as to things that I should consider. Very helpful video! Thank you!
I think the white dress is perfection as it is right now, the leaves at your waist are so flattering to your tiny waist, adding more motifs will make is seem too heavy
Love all those dresses😊. You look great in all of them. Please leave the white dress with just the waist appliqué. This is only my opinion but I think adding more would be a little bit too much. You have a lot of talent.
I am 100% in your camp on this. Once I get a pattern fitting how I like it, I tend to use it like a bodice block and just alter little things here and there. Why reinvent the wheel every time? Saves so much work and time.
This is great, Sian, patterns cost enough that they should be a good investment and styling them different ways allows more people to sew creatively. You are a very good teacher, and even when my time to sew is limited, I find your content inspiring!
The different sleeves and different fabrics make them all unique. I love flutter sleeves, being a 50-something woman means that my arms are not what I like, so flutter sleeves hide that. I am still looking for a pattern for a button front dress that I like. Maybe I can find one in the UK while I am there.
Gorgeous makes! I think I’ve been watching your videos long enough to take inspiration from you, in the way that you invest time in fitting and making it fit your body (and discarding patterns that don’t work for you). I see this investment of time creates pattern blocks to be used for countless hacks (our own personal garment designing) for years to come.
The Taika dress is my many-ways dress; viscose poplin, viscose lawn, heavy viscose Rosella twill, cotton babycord. Long plain sleeves, plain elbow sleeves, flutter sleeves, tulip sleeves. I've not made the original sleeves from the pattern (don't much like elasticated sleeves). And the skirt just gets fuller! (Making the pieces wider at the base, adding in big godets, etc.). All with lined bodices, might go for lined sleeves as well for the next one (more an autumn option).
Hey Sian, what a lovely collection! 😊 Do you have a tutorial on how to fully line the M7974? I found your videos on how to line the bodice but I am a bit overwhelmed on how to also line the skirt. I have been sewing for quite a while now but rarely line clothes. 😅 How do I line the skirt and how do I attach it to the lined bodice? Thanks so much in advance!
I really love this pattern 🥰 I own it as well. But I have never sewn button holes before 🙈 My Gertie blouse is waiting for it‘s button holes since two years 🙈 I just can‘t bring myself to sew them.
The white dress you're wearing is perfect as is, I can't believe it's the same dress as the one on the envelope. otherwise I would have bought it a long time ago (and I need to sew a few myself ASAP). And you look radiant in it, that is certainly your colour :) Also do you have any tips where to buy different viscoses and rayons in central Europe? I cannot justify shipping and customs from UK anymore after Brexit. Twills and others just don't seem to exist here, if I find any plain woven viscose I consider myself lucky.
It is a lovely dress and I really enjoy wearing all of mine. I don't have fabric store recommendations for Europe but I would say check out The Fabric Room as I really like their viscoses and the prices are very reasonable and might be worth the shipping / taxes if you haven't got anything locally that you like. :)
I have this pattern coming!!! Which tutorial shows how to raise the neckline? Or is it in one of the original multi-part sew-along? I don't really have cleavage but don't want to flash people either LOL. Now to try and figure out which fabric I want to use for this! Would a batik fabric be too heavy?
@@KittenishBehaviourSian Perfect! Other than Cobra Corsage (Sian made me do it), batik prints are my other weakness. I have a lovely parchment colourway with seahorses coming in a batik. I would definitely love to see when/if you add the rest of the embroidered leaves to your dress. VERY garden cotillion-esque. LOVE the Minnie Mouse shoes you have paired with it!
Love the fabric of the maxi one.Would converting the ties into cuffs with a single button or elastic make it less bulky🤔? Just inexpertly thinking out loud 🙃🦥

Love the white dress and the embroidery is just enough ,perfect

Love the white dress with embroidery on!!
The white dress, especially the sleeves are beautiful… can’t wait to try this
Love the flutter sleeves and the motifs on the white dress! They are all beautiful!
Oh my goodness, I love the yellow with strawberries!

Love them all! The red long sleeved version is particularly elegant, in my view 😍 But they're all gorgeous.
Thank you, Sian! Very creative! the two strawberries are my fav!

The embroidered white dress is soooo beautiful ❤. The other ones as well
Wonderful video. So many different looks from 1 pattern 💜🇦🇺
Sian, I loved this post! You look great in all the iterations but I especially like # 2 and #6/7. Great job, as usual. You are always an inspiration!

Bonjour Siàn, those dresses ar😂e 🎉soooo beautiful on 😮you! Thank you for sharing... Christine 🐱🇨🇦🐱
Gorgeous dresses!!!! I recently made this for a friend xxxxxxx
When you have worked so hard to get the fit right using other style options or sleeves is the way to go!

I think I'll have to do an addition to the sew-along for that as there are a few tweaks you need do. Will add it to my list asap!
Thanks for sharing 🍓🧶🌈💙
Lacey shawls or bolero tie closer front sweater-thing with those raglan or kimono sleeves-- flutter sleeve friendly ?

Seeing all the dresses side by side, me thinks you're missing a few more darker versions for the colder months. #EnablersUnited 😆❤

Batik would work for sure. Part 4 is the one you want for the bodice adjustment 😊

White dress with waist embroidery is gorgeous as it is. Please don't add anymore to it.

Hello! Just an FYI, I've been trying to get onto your FAQs for a few weeks to find a link to the binding you use, but it's broken 😢
Thank you for letting me know 😊

That is definitely a hack that would look cute and wear better under cardigans :)
