A fresnel screen is an ambient light rejecting screen that utilizes a fresnel pattern of peaks and valleys on the screen to deflect light coming from the sides and above *away* from the seated viewing position, and to collect the light coming from below (from an UST projector) and reflecting that *towards* the seated position, thus giving a vastly better image from an UST in the daytime, and a considerably better image in the nighttime.
Big image for cheap is indeed why you go UST projector. And this is also where the fresnel / ALR screen comes in, they can make it quite TV-like in quality and very immersive. As for 115 inch TV - check out some of the videos Linus Tech Tips did of getting a 115 incher into the house. It's ludicrous. There's like four guys huffing and puffing, over 200 lbs of giant crate.
The AWOL 3500 has crap black level but it can somewhat hide it by having a lot of light output. I'd much rather own the Nexigo which costs a third.
