Hello great video i have been hearing that if you don’t dig the grass up some people have had grass in their pools. With the method you used with the foam board did you have that issue.
The tarp at the end works pretty well to keep grass out. The problem is if the kids are in and out around the yard the grass is going to end up in the pool. I got a pool screen to fish out the grass and even bugs that do get in there
This is the best video thanks for helping me install the pump, but also another question at what point do you turn it on once it’s all filled up?…. Also why does the pump thing says “air release” and has arrow to open?
Once it’s filled up you let it run from there on out. The air release is for when you change the filter I believe. Mine doesn’t have that. You plug the two tubes connected to the pool so water doesn’t run out and then drain the pump.
Straight to the point love this. I do have a question tho I have just brought a bestway steel pro 12ft but it hasn’t come with a pump. Now I’m very confused on what pump to buy as the instructions do give much information in regards to the pump! Can anyone please help??
Great, to the point, video. I am about undertake this today. I have a 14ft pool. If you cut the foam to the exact size of the liner does the feet rest on the foam? I am thinking of using wooden blocks to sit on the foam, if so, to help spread the weight and stop it from pressing directly on the foam. I will be lifting about an inch of grass up with a lawn cutter to allow the foam to be inserted in the hole I cut out. Hence asking about the feet. If I cut out exactly a 14ft wide hole I think the feet will be half on the foam and half on the lawn. Didn't know if to cut just short of 14ft or just over 14ft wide. Any advice appreciated.
I would do at least 15ft to give yourself some play and yes you can put a small piece of plywood under the feet if you would like. You don’t want to be short on one side or another and then theres a lip formed inside the pool
@IllGetMyTools so you would say an additional half a foot on the radius to give a foot in total on the overall size. I have 1inch poly boards to put down and wooden decking boards that I'll trim to the size of the feet and place them around the perimeter to rest the feet on. I will then put the tarp over the whole lot once I've worked out location for each foot. I'm actually looking forward to doing this as the feeling when done shall be quite satisfying. I've been trying to work out all week the best way forward and now think I have the answer.
@@Johngleonian it was actually a little harder to center then you would think as it does move a bit when filling And once the water is in nothing moves haha…Maybe having the overall diameter 15’6” or so will be sufficient. The stoppers go into the intakes in the pool piping for when you want to change the filter. it stops the water flow and therefor pressure into the pump making the filter change easy and not emptying the whole pool in the process

Hi great work. Any advice on the pool cover? You didn’t cover that? The pool cover came with the pool but no where to latch on or tie it to the frame? HELP
Hi thank you so much for the video it saved me time:) But I have question do we have to put chemicals on it and what kind and how much please? Thank you
Yes I bought the typical chlorine tablets. I also purchased a small blue and white plastic floatation container that holds the tablets. It just floats around the pool. I take it out when the kids are in it. It only needs one or two chlorine tablets at a time.
@@IllGetMyTools so we don’t have to put platinum shock and algae liquid because it’s too much confusing! What brand you usually use for the chlorine and my pool is 10ft ?
@@ghadayousif8642 I’m not a very knowledgeable pool chemical guy. But for two summers the chlorine tabs is all I used and they were perfect. The Water was clear and it seems chlorinated water won’t grow the algae. I did brush the sides and bottom of the pool every couple weeks just to loosen up any dirt.
Great video - I had a question about the grey filter cap seal. Is there supposed to be another seal around the grey top cap - mine free floats in the blue filter cap ring and leaks up and around the top. The o ring in the blue ring is fine and no leaks out the bottom. Is the grey cap supposed to move or be flush? Great video - I've got my Bestway Steel Pro Max arriving in a couple of weeks and need to prepare my surface. I'm thinking Polyethylene or EVA which is denser than soft foam but thinking about @Todd Hathaway and others who say it shouldn't be put on soft material - but why not? @IllGetMyTools - what condition was your foam and the bottom of your pool at the end of your first season? Why did you use a tarp as well?
I used 1” rigid foam boards. I just wanted something in between the liner and the yard which has tree roots, chipmunks, insects etc. I had no degradation in the pool or liner whatsoever. That’s one of the reasons why I put a tarp over the boards to maintain their integrity. The pool liner was unaffected and maintained as new. This was just my build for my particular yard and location
Help - The pump/filter needs to be plugged in. assume this stays plugged in and not on when people in the pool. Then how long do you run it for and when. Confused what to do next as the plug is close to the pool area so could get wet. The instructions are not simple or explain much. As i have never had something like this before i am unsure what to do. please help.
I left my pump on most of the time as you need the filtration and circulation of the chemicals that keep the pool clean. I ran a 50ft extension chord into my house. The junction where you plug in the pool filter to the extension chord I wrapped in plastic and then duct taped it. I then a small plastic bin over it so it won’t get wet. The filter itself can get wet and be outside it’s sealed.
Thanks for the wonderful tutorial steps-by-steps video. I saw you prepare the ground area 12 feet diameter, but the pool is not exact 12' even though it says in the box 12'x30in. What is the actual diameter size of the pool?
I don’t recall exactly because there is a bell shape formed at the bottom of the pool when filled If you make the radius for the foundation 12’6” you will be fine.
Nice video. But the feet will start to sink in the ground as the soil gets wet from playing. I built a wooden decking on the ground for my 12 footer and put carpet on top. It nice under foot .
I do not but what you can do is measure the diameter of the space in the filter where the gasket goes and that will tell you what size gasket you need.
Is there supposed to be another seal around the grey top cap - mine free floats in the blue filter cap ring and leaks up and around the top. The o ring in the blue ring is fine and no leaks out the bottom. Is the grey cap supposed to move or be flush?
Leaking hoses is Not normal. Either there’s a hole somewhere or the connections aren’t tight. I run the pump usually all day to keep the chlorine and filtration circulating. Every so often I shut off the pump usually before a rain storm.
I went a little over a foot wider then the pool diameter because I wasn’t exactly sure how big pool would be with brackets and legs. Next year I’ll make it smaller. Live and learn no biggie
I can't seem to work out how to put the last link between the poles and I'm pregnant and crying because I can't work it out it's not the right angle? And I can't get the last pole into the joiner...
Go back to all the others and ensure they are tight and none are loose. Or add some cooking oil to help slide it. Worse come to worse go get another helping hand!! I wish you the best!
Interesting, I would look through the instructions and get a company contact info for extra parts…. If not, a pool company like Namco may have it and there’s always Amazon as well….. only issue I may see but not sure of, is if you extend the hose, the filter pump might not be suited for the extra piping. It might not be as efficient but I’m not sure.
I went about a foot out to accommodate the bottom bell that will be created when the pool fills. Also it gives you some play and a good resting place for the feet so they don’t dig into the mud and dirt
I didn’t have to. Some legs went into the ground an inch with the weight but it was still well supported. Maybe if you have a very moist grass spot or poor yard drainage you may want to.
There’s many different sizes and setups of these pools. The basic setup is the same. The instructions will show you what you need to know in terms of where the filters go
It’s polystyrene foam. You can find it in the insulation section of either Home Depot or Lowe’s. It comes in 1/4 inch up to 1 inch thick sizes. The sheets are 4’x8’
Great job 👏🏼 best video about set up on this pool 👍🏼 really helps, ? Where did you purchase the foam? now I need to start doing this in this 100 heat outside 🥵🤦🏼♀️
Also the boards or blocks at legs so they don’t dig-per Poor instructions Included. were not needed? Due to the sand mix? This Makes it sturdy base? Thanks
@@ninjathriftyskillz4543 putting some blocks would be ideal to disperse the weight dependent on how soft your yard is. I had some legs dig into the ground an inch or two, some stayed at ground level. It couldn’t hurt.
The plugs go into the intakes inside the pool for when you have to change or clean the filter pump. If you don’t plug the intakes you’ll drain the pool while cleaning the pump.
That’s what it’s apex’s for but you could be right. I’m sure you can go online and get a larger one if it can’t keep up with your use. Remember these are just basic above ground vinyl pools. Can’t expect too much man haha
If it’s what I think you’re talking about they go inside the pool. There’s three holes for them and then the tubes from the filter connect to them from the outside of the pool.
Or I think you mean the intake plugs. Those go into the three intakes in the pool when you clean out the filter. They stop the water from running out of the pool just put those in a safe place till you need to replace filter cartridge
@@IllGetMyTools so I didn’t put the rubber top hat looking things called stoppers in now water is pouring out of the filter I just done understand how water will get through it I put them on the inside of the pool because they r essentially plugs
Exactly. It adds a nice cushion when walking around the pool and helps protect liner from rocks, tree roots, and hopefully little critters like chipmunks
@@IllGetMyTools oh thank you! I’m so dumb lol the pool was given to us but I don’t see how many gallons it is on the side so I was having a hard time trying to figure out what pump or parts would fit.. I left them hooked up after summer and I guess they rotted and cracked from the water not moving through and the sun hitting it.
Absolutely I would definitely lay down foam boards or at least some tarps first. Too much friction with the vinyl on the bare concrete will eventually tear the pool
Amazon almost a year ago. I paid almost twice what I should have due to a shortage and the virus. There was a lot of scam sites selling pools so be careful, I fell victim to one, luckily I got my money back
I’d you put pool directly on sand the texture can wear away at the pool Liner. I put sand to level the ground and then put foam and a tarp on top. No friction.

Is there supposed to be another seal around the grey top cap - mine free floats in the blue filter cap ring and leaks up and around the top. The o ring in the blue ring is fine and no leaks out the bottom. Is the grey cap supposed to move or be flush?
I wish I would have found you a while ago...... I totally messed up a pool due to being I level.
Haha thank you. Well you can always redo it, that may suck, but you’ll be happy afterwards
What type of board you put under the pool, can you provide the link to it? Thanks!
It’s rigid polystyrene foam board. You can find it in the insulation section of lowes or homedepot
My filter hoses are leaking is that normal? Also do you run the filter pump all day or just when its not in use?
Leaking hoses is Not normal. Either there’s a hole somewhere or the connections aren’t tight. I run the pump usually all day to keep the chlorine and filtration circulating. Every so often I shut off the pump usually before a rain storm.
@@IllGetMyTools Thank you for the quick response.
You sprayed a circle 12ft in diameter and cut foam the same but the finished base is way bigger than 12ft. What happened?
I went a little over a foot wider then the pool diameter because I wasn’t exactly sure how big pool would be with brackets and legs. Next year I’ll make it smaller. Live and learn no biggie
Hands down sir Thanks for the video . You kept it very simple and easy for us .What a beautiful looking place to live i wonder what state this is .
Thank you very much. I live in Connecticut. I had to do more with the base of the pool to protect from the critters in our yard
Does the water have to cover A output for the pump?
Yea both have to be completely covered for the pump to work properly
Hi. Thanks for the vid. What density of polystyrene did you use?
I believe I bought 1” boards in 4x8 sheets. It definitely helps the comfort when walking around the pool
I have a question how come u can't put them on tight I accidently put them on right tight did I mess them up
Put what on tight
I can't seem to work out how to put the last link between the poles and I'm pregnant and crying because I can't work it out it's not the right angle? And I can't get the last pole into the joiner...
Go back to all the others and ensure they are tight and none are loose. Or add some cooking oil to help slide it. Worse come to worse go get another helping hand!! I wish you the best!
is there anywhere I can purchase the T connector for the filter my pool only has a and b so didn't come with one but would like to extend the hose
@@IllGetMyTools ahhh I see, because 1 side is for pulling out and the others for pushing water back in it may not work, thanks for the advice
What is the difference between Paver Base and Paver Sand? BTW Great Video
Paver base is finely crushed stone. It’s more rigid when tamped out. Sand can be stiff but can obviously have some movement
.
@@IllGetMyTools which one did you use? I will be putting up my pool this weekend thanks to your video.
@@sbrian21 I just used sand. It was easiest for me and was softer under the lining for peoples feet in the pool
It seams your foam board has a larger diameter than your pool. How much bigger should it be?
I went about a foot out to accommodate the bottom bell that will be created when the pool fills. Also it gives you some play and a good resting place for the feet so they don’t dig into the mud and dirt
@@IllGetMyTools thank you!
Do you have to put anything under the legs? Wood or sth?
I didn’t have to. Some legs went into the ground an inch with the weight but it was still well supported. Maybe if you have a very moist grass spot or poor yard drainage you may want to.
i have the same brand pool but i don’t have 3 filters that go into the B B A holes. i have two and one that looks different.
There’s many different sizes and setups of these pools. The basic setup is the same. The instructions will show you what you need to know in terms of where the filters go
Helped me so much
Great! Good luck with the pool!
Thank you so much 🙏🙏
Your welcome
Very helpful. Thanks much!!!
No problem thanks for the feedback!
had a question about the foam board. where did you purchase that from? and the exact name for it also please
It’s polystyrene foam. You can find it in the insulation section of either Home Depot or Lowe’s. It comes in 1/4 inch up to 1 inch thick sizes. The sheets are 4’x8’
Wait! At 5:18 did you cut the tarp to fit or is it just tucked under?!
Yup just tucked it. Kept it simple
@@IllGetMyTools thank you for replying!!
So helpful!! Thank you !!
Great job 👏🏼 best video about set up on this pool 👍🏼 really helps, ? Where did you purchase the foam? now I need to start doing this in this 100 heat outside 🥵🤦🏼♀️
The foam is called polystyrene. You can find 1 inch thick boards in a 4x8 ft sheet in the insulation section of any Lowe’s or Home Depot.
Thank you x quick reply I’ll add some👍🏼
Can you install the pool on concrete?
Most definitely, I would absolutely lay down a thick tarp in between the pool
And concrete though to cut down on friction.
@@IllGetMyTools thank you for responding. Well wish me luck lol
New subscriber 👍🏻
Muchas gracias!!
Thank you so much 😊
What are the plugs for?? U didn't go over that
The plugs go into the intakes inside the pool for when you have to change or clean the filter pump. If you don’t plug the intakes you’ll drain the pool while cleaning the pump.
How did you smoothen out the liner at the bottom of the pool?
Put a couple inches of water in there and smooth it out with your hands and feet. The little bit of water holds it in place once it’s spread out.
Mine came with the 330 gallon per min pump. I feel like it’s too weak tho
That’s what it’s apex’s for but you could be right. I’m sure you can go online and get a larger one if it can’t keep up with your use. Remember these are just basic above ground vinyl pools. Can’t expect too much man haha
What’re the stoppers for and the control hose adapter that says open and close on it go
The stoppers look like top hats
If it’s what I think you’re talking about they go inside the pool. There’s three holes for them and then the tubes from the filter connect to them from the outside of the pool.
Or I think you mean the intake plugs. Those go into the three intakes in the pool when you clean out the filter. They stop the water from running out of the pool just put those in a safe place till you need to replace filter cartridge
@@IllGetMyTools thank you so much this video is very helpful as well!!
@@IllGetMyTools so I didn’t put the rubber top hat looking things called stoppers in now water is pouring out of the filter I just done understand how water will get through it I put them on the inside of the pool because they r essentially plugs
Do I need foam coves?
Not sure what you mean
"You might want to get it a bit wet so it slides in easy 😏😜😉"
That’s what she said, you dirty, dirty, man
😂
The foam that you put down before setting up the pool. Is that the same thing as Polystyrene Insulation Board?
Exactly. It adds a nice cushion when walking around the pool and helps protect liner from rocks, tree roots, and hopefully little critters like chipmunks
@@IllGetMyTools thank you for the installation video.? Did any of the foam board break or crack?
@@allenking6172 nope. The weight of the water kept everything intact. Not everybody has to use it, I just think it’s a good idea for my yard.
Where can I purchase new hoses for the pump
Amazon had replacement parts if you type in pump model number and I believe Namco as well
@@IllGetMyTools oh thank you! I’m so dumb lol the pool was given to us but I don’t see how many gallons it is on the side so I was having a hard time trying to figure out what pump or parts would fit.. I left them hooked up after summer and I guess they rotted and cracked from the water not moving through and the sun hitting it.
How many people does it fit?
That depends on the use but 8 adults can sit and relax in there...Probably can’t play Marco Polo though
how do you get into the pool without a ladder
The pool is only 3 feet high so you just stepped right into it. They do sell ladders at the pool store.
How much water I need?
All the water you got haha…. Volume= (3.14)(radius squared)(height)
Thank you
Good luck enjoy the pool!
Is it possible to set this pool onto concrete?
Absolutely I would definitely lay down foam boards or at least some tarps first. Too much friction with the vinyl on the bare concrete will eventually tear the pool
@@IllGetMyTools it comes with a ground cloth already i was thinking maybe put a tarp underneath it anyways
@@mets23q the more barrier the better. Mine came with no ground cloth.
What website did you buy it off
Amazon almost a year ago. I paid almost twice what I should have due to a shortage and the virus. There was a lot of scam sites selling pools so be careful, I fell victim to one, luckily I got my money back
Great video thank u. God bless you.
So why do instructions say not to use sand?
I’d you put pool directly on sand the texture can wear away at the pool
Liner. I put sand to level the ground and then put foam and a tarp on top. No friction.
